Geoff rolled out of the way of Ironwood's bolt and spun 'Indentured Servitude' blocking another bolt. It was interesting how Cursed Weapons were able to block each other. Was it like two magnets repelling each other? Thoughts for later.
Geoff twirled around and swiped Ironwood's legs out from under him... or at least that's what he was aiming for, but Ironwood had a damn metal leg that didn't budge.
Ironwood grabbed Geoff and held him in the air by his throat. "Any last words?"
"Jus' two."
"What Are they?"
"Leroy Jenkins."
"What?"
Geoff activated his Aura and created an orb that blew up in Ironwood's face causing Ironwood to backpedal and give Geoff the opening he needed to grab Ironwood's foot and flip him over backwards. "Why!?" Geoff asked. "Why did you turn on us! We wanted to achieve the Same goal! Why! You knew that we weren't traitors or terrorists, or rapists! Jason wanted to kill you when he found out! Weiss was the only one who calmed him down, but then you had to kill her mother! Why!"
"Because!' Ironwood snarled. "In your mad dash for freedom for all, you doomed Atlas! You knew about the embargo! You knew that we needed to sustain ourselves! But you wanted freedom for all more than survival! Then you went and had four fancy weddings while the rest of us suffered!"
"WE WERE TRYING TO HELP THE LOT OF YOU YA DAFT ASSHOLE! ALL WE WANTED WAS FREEDOM!"
"FREEDOM HAS A PRICE! FREEDOM ISN'T FREE! YOU NEED TO WORK FOR FREEDOM! SOME PEOPLE PAY WITH THEIR LIVES! OTHERS BY WORKING IN THE MINES!"
"THEY WERE NO BETTA THAN SLAVES! THEY WERE DYING! THEY WERE BEING TORTURED AND RAPED AND MURDERED! I WASN'T ABOUT TO TRADE MY INTEGRITY FOR THE ASSHOLES THAT WERE HURTING THEM! FECK THAT AND FECK YOU FOR ABANDONING THOSE YOU SHOULDA BEEN PROTECTING!"
"YOUR IDEALS ARE WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS! YOU'RE TOO NAÏVE TO BE REVOLUTIONARIES! YOU AREN'T EVEN REAL HUNTERS YET! YOU'RE JUST SECOND YEARS!"
"BETTER TO HAVE IDEALS THAN TO BE A FECKING POLITICIAN! I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M SAYING THIS, BUT YOU'RE AS BAD AS JADIS!"
Ironwood glared at Geoff. "You don't know what you're talking about." He snarled in a low voice.
"I don't! Then how come yer actin' exactly like her when she was writin' in her journal?"
"Jadis was a monster! Someone who used Atlas' people as nothing more than a workforce to meet her own selfish needs."
"Yer Jus' th' pot callin' th' kettle black! Ye are doin' th' exact same thin' as she did!"
"You don't know how hard it is to run a Kingdom! There are sacrifices that have to be made in order to keep a kingdom moving. Yes, I left the Faunus to work in the mines, but that's because they make up ninety percent of the workforce."
"Ye coulda unlocked their Aura ta keep 'em safe! Ye coulda given 'em betta pay an' benefits! Ye coulda made th' mines safer ta mine! Did ya do any o' tha'? No!"
"You don't understand! That takes money which we didn't have! We're not Jason or Weiss!"
"Blast ye an' Yer excuses! While da Kingdom o' Atlas has been livin' in Squaller, da kingdom o' hope has been living betta. We have an entire economy aboard! People use their Semblance's ta help each other! We make an' sell an' buy stuff! Jaune charges a few Lien fer his Semblance. We charge a few lien fer food. It works out. Everyone is happy! We did wha' Atlas couldn'! So Don' Tell me tha' Ye couldn' a done it!"
"Atlas didn't get to be the number one Kingdom because we charged a few credits! We have a standard to uphold!"
"Feck yer standard! Feck ye! And Feck Atlas!"
Ironwood Shot at Geoff who dodged out of the way, knocked 'Natures Domain' out of Ironwood's hand and latched 'Indentured Servitude' around his neck.
"I'm sorry General." Geoff let out a choking gasp. "But This is th' only way."
Ironwood felt nothing, absolutely nothing as Geoff's soul overlaid his own and Geoff walked towards the edge of Atlas.
He felt nothing as Geoff made him walk closer and closer to the edge.
He felt nothing as Geoff took the final step off of Atlas.
He felt nothing as he hit the streets of Mantle, never to wake again.
Geoff woke up in his own body and shuddered. He'd just forced a man to commit suicide. He'd murdered General James Ironwood. A friend.
He wanted to break down and cry, but he needed to finish this fight and get back to Beacon II, the Kingdom of Hope.
"Jaune." He said into his Scroll. "I need Ye ta come destroy these weapons."
"On my way." Jaune said.
There was a flash of light, and 'Redeemers Blade' came crashing down into 'Natures Domain' causing it to rust into oblivion.
"Jaune!" Geoff yelled, throwing 'Indentured Servitude' at Jaune who grabbed 'Redeemers Blade' and cut it in half letting the two halves fly past him.
Geoff fell to his knees as he felt the corruption that had come over him during the fight dissipate.
Jaune helped Geoff to his feet, and they walked into Atlas Academy together.
"Nice landing Strategy by th' way," Geoff complimented.
"Ya think so?" Jaune asked.
"Definitely. If we have ta retake th' entrance exam when we get back ta Beacon, be sure ta do tha'."
"I will." Jaune said, sheathing 'Redeemers Blade' on his hip.
"How do you want to do this?" Scott asked as he, Gale, and José walked into Atlas Academy.
"Hey!" Gale said. "Who here is all for Faunus enslavement?! If you are then come at us!"
"Direct." José Said. "I would have expected that to come from Scott or Jason. Not you."
"What are you talkin' about?" Gale asked. "I can be direct when I wanna be."
"Usually, you're the guy who slips whoopie cushions under people as they sit down." Scott said, cracking his neck and knuckles.
"Maybe I wanted to be direct this time."
"Fair enough Irmano." José Said. "Let's get the prisoners and anyone who's not a complete asshole and get out. Then we can have Beacon II Fire on Atlas sending it where it belongs."
"Done." Scott said, placing the last prisoner next to José. "Do your thing where you power them up so we can get out of here."
"Irmano. We need to ask anyone if they want to give up their fascistic ways and join us. Give everyone a chance at life before death."
"Well!" Scott yelled. "You heard him! You either join us and give up your evil ways, or you fall with Atlas!"
Some of the Hunters and Hunters-in-training looked at each other before walking to stand with the brothers and prisoners.
"You're throwing around a bunch of big words." A woman with a metal kendo sword said. "I'll break you!"
"Seriously?" Scott asked. "Oh well. Think I should try the Kama Geoff made me?"
"Nah." Gale said. "Use the 'Bunker Buster'."
Scott fused his 'Fangs' together and lowered them at the Hunter. "Maybe you should have tried harder in your Basic classes. Maybe then you'd understand what a Fascist is and why you are on the slippery slope to becoming one."
"Shut up and fight!"
Scott swung the 'Bunker Buster' and expected to knock the Hunter back only for her to not have moved at all.
"Do you like my Semblance?" She asked. "It's called shock Absorption! It allows me to..." The Hunter was cut off as she hit the floor.
"Sorry luv." Scott Said, "But you told me your weakness when you told me your Semblance. You can Absorb the momentum of my blows, but what happens when I overload you with punches. Put some ice on it and cry to the General. Now..." he turned to José and Gale. "...get out of here. I'll meet you both back at the bullhead. Get them out of here."
José and Gale nodded before leaving with the prisoners and the smart ones who decided to leave.
Scott walked to the doors that led outside. "There's a saying where I'm from." He spoke. "Manners..." he locked the doors. "...maketh..." he rolled up his sleeves and dropped a familiar looking gauntlet. "...men." He dropped the other gauntlet and looked up. "But I guess in this case Manners Maketh Hunters. If you can get past me, I'll let you find the others, but you won't get passed me. You can't."
The Hunters in Training and Huntsman aimed their ranged weapons at him and fired.
"Ya missed." Scott said, yawning and checking his nails.
Some of them charged and he used his Semblance to blip out of the way and attack.
"Are you guys even trying?" He asked. "I mean seriously. What the hell?"
"Why don't you stay still!" A Hunter asked.
"No! I'm not some moron, and just because of that, no more Mr. Nice Guy!" Scott blipped around the entire room and took everyone out before blipping away.
When Gale and José got outside, they ran into Geoff and Jaune.
"Where's Scott?" Geoff asked.
"Right Here." Scott Said, blipping beside them.
"What happened?" Gale asked.
"I gave them a proper British ass kicking."
"What about a brutal Russian Ass kicking?" Gale asked.
"I wanted them to live." Scott said deadpanned.
"Alright!" Geoff said. "Le's get back ta Beacon II Lads!"
They ran to the bullhead with the people they liberated and took off for Beacon II.
Jason watched Weiss as she panted while Healer Grey went to clean their daughter. He felt drained and had only gotten a taste of delivery process across their soul bond, what must she be feeling.
He took her hand in his and watched her smile. It brought tears to his eyes. She had just pushed a baby out of her body, and she was smiling; granted it was an exhausted, teary eyed smile, but it was still a smile.
"What's wrong?" Weiss croaked out.
"You're so fucking amazing." He spoke. "You pushed a baby out of your body and still have the strength to smile."
"You helped me." she said, exhaustedly.
"Don't give me credit I don't deserve."
"Here she is." Healer Grey Said, placing their daughter in Weiss's arms. "You'll need to feed her."
Weiss held her... their child to her breast and the baby seemed to naturally latch on and began nursing.
Weiss let out a short squeal as the baby began nursing.
"What?" She asked when she saw the look on Jason's face.
"I know." Jason said. "I can feel your discomfort through the bond." He rubbed his chest. "That feels weird."
"See."
"I'll leave you two alone for a few moments," Healer Grey Said.
Jason and Weiss looked down at their baby.
"Hey," Weiss Said, running a finger over the baby's chin.
"Baby Frost." Jason Said, holding her hand.
Frost gripped Jason's finger with her tiny hand and he was filled with pure, unadulterated, parental love. He would do anything for his daughter. She wouldn't want for anything. He would die for her. Live for her! KILL, for her! He looked up at Weiss to see her proud but tired eyes looking at him.
Jason felt something twist inside him, he felt around for what it was; it was Kindred Link. Why would Raven's Semblance be acting up?
He didn't hear Oscar and Ruby come in, the next thing he heard was Weiss shouting.
"OSCAR DON'T!" Weiss shouted.
Oscar and Ruby were on the Deck of Beacon II when Geoff and the others brought the prisoners from Atlas aboard.
"Let's get them down to medical." Scott said, leading the way.
A portal opened and a massive whale Grimm appeared in the sky.
"Salem." Oscar gulped.
"OPEN FIRE!" Geoff shouted into his Scroll.
The cannons on Beacon II erupted, sending rounds and Dust rounds at the massive Grimm.
"Hey Oscar." A familiar voice called out.
"Montgomery?" Oscar asked, confused.
"Yeah. Did ya miss me?"
"I thought you died in Argus?"
"Well... Jaune thinks I did, but that's because you guys were being really boring, and so I faked my death."
"Why? How?"
"I was bored, and I'm the God of creation in this world. Do you think that those two dumb asses could do what they did without me? No way. I CREATED them! I gave them their powers, and when they bored me, created Salem and Ozma. I get bored easily. Like how I'm bored now. So, I need you to do me a solid. I need you to find Jason and Weiss and send them back in time to when they'll make the most difference, okay."
"No. Why would I?"
"Because of Salem. You guys can't stop her right now. This entire thing was about giving Jason the motivation to stop Salem! Kicking him out on the streets, Shira getting raped in that alley, his punk assed uncle killing Shira; it was all MY doing! All so that he would break into a bajillion pieces and put himself back together to make him strong enough to do what is necessary."
"No! He's happy! He has a family! You can't take that away from him! I won't take it from him!"
"That's such a shame. Because..." Montgomery snapped his fingers and Oscar watched as Montgomery showed him the future. Jaune being burned to death, Pyrrha being forced to watch before being impaled. Nora and Ren being crushed under Atlas as it falls.
All of his friends being killed, and Ruby and Summer being turned into Grimm.
"NO!" He shouted.
"There's only one way to save them." Montgomery said. "You need to send Jason and Weiss back in time, and since I'm a benevolent God, I'll top off your magic so you and Ruby can go back with them."
"Now, shoo." Montgomery said, disappearing.
Oscar looked around and shouted for Ruby before running for the entryway.
Ruby turned to see Oscar running for the entryway in a mad dash. Had he used his Semblance to come back in time? Were they about to die? Where was he running to? She ran after him and caught up to him easily. "What's wrong?" She asked.
"Everyone is about to die! We need to send Jason and Weiss back in time!"
"Okay!" She said, grabbing Oscar and running them to the infirmary.
When they arrived, Oscar ran in. "I'm so sorry!" He spoke. "We lost! You need to go back and make things right!" He raised 'Long Memory' and tapped it on the ground, releasing the stored Magic, creating a time sphere around the four of them.
"OSCAR DON'T!" Weiss shouted. Raw emotion carved into her face as fresh tears fell down her face.
Oscar looked at Jason, Weiss, and baby Frost. He was tearing a family apart. Causing pain, so much pain. Hadn't they endured enough? Damn Montgomery and his games.
There was a flash of light and the five disappeared into the past.
Weiss was cradling baby Frost, holding her, while she held Jason's finger and parental pride surged through the bond.
Frost yawned and closed her eyes. Weiss thought that was a good idea. She was about to lay down herself when Oscar and Ruby ran inside the infirmary. At first, she thought it might have been excitement, but it wasn't. Oscar looked terrified.
"I'm so sorry!" He spoke. "We lost! You need to go back and make things right!" He raised 'Long Memory' and tapped it on the ground, releasing the stored Magic, creating a time sphere around the four of them.
"OSCAR DON'T!" Weiss shouted. If Oscar did that then Frost would be undone, who knew when they would be sent back to. He couldn't send them back. It wasn't fair! She didn't feel the fresh tears fall, but she grabbed Jason and Frost, hoping against hope that this was all a nightmare...
It wasn't.
There was a flash of light and the five people were gone.
Weiss opened her eyes to see golden light surrounding them. She looked down and saw Frost turn to dust in her arms. "NNOOO!" She shouted as Frost disappeared. She felt rage engulf Jason as he grabbed her in a protective embrace.
Jason looked around the golden tunnel as he, Weiss, Oscar, and Ruby moved through it towards an unknown destination. He was going to kill Salem for taking his daughter from him. He was going to torture her for what she'd done to Weiss.
He saw Oscar and Ruby wink out of existence and held onto Weiss with all the strength he could muster.
They began being pulled apart, and they grabbed hands.
"Don't let go!" Weiss shouted.
"I won't!" He shouted back.
They held on even though it physically hurt to stay together. They thought they were going to be able to stay together, but they were ripped apart and thrown away from each other.
"WEISSS!" He shouted.
"JASONNNN!" Weiss shouted.
"I SWEAR THAT I'LL FIND YOU! NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES! I'LL FIND YOU!"
Before either of them could answer they were gone. Weiss stuck in a cold room in Atlas after waking up from a horrible nightmare, and Jason coming to his senses in a Mansion in Vale.
Montgomery woke up. It was going to be another BORING day in Vale. He got up, walked into the bathroom, weighed himself on the scale, and began brushing his teeth before he got in the shower.
He had just finished brushing and scraped any leftover bacteria from his tongue when he felt different... he received memories and realized, he wasn't going to be bored anymore.
he smiled a Cheshire Cat grin. He had work to do.
