Chapter 11

Dorothy bit her lip as she ran her hands lightly over the blue dress she wore. Her heels clicked on the ground as she walked next to Peggy. "Are you sure that you want me out with you?" She questioned as she looked over at Peggy. She was surprised that the older woman wanted her to come along for the trip to talk to Captain Rogers.

Peggy let out a soft chuckle. "I have to speak with Captain Rogers about something." She mused with a smile.

Dorothy shyly looked over at Peggy and looked down. "And why do I have to come along for a little talk?" Her brow raised slightly as her hands clenched nervously at her sides. She wasn't about ready to be going out tonight.

"Because you'll meet the team that he is getting together with."

"Ah yes, his Howling Commandos." Dorothy mused softly as they went into The Whip & Fiddle Pub.

Eyes slowly landed on them as they came into the bar.

Peggy led Dorothy towards Steve and Bucky. "Captain," Peggy said with a small smile.

Steve stood up quickly. "Agent Carter. Agent Stark."

"Ma'ams," Bucky said his best hello to the two gorgeous women before him.

"Howard's got some equipment for you to try. Tomorrow morning?" Dorothy said with a small smile.

"That sounds fine," Steve said with a nod of his head.

The Howling commandos began to sing again off-key and terribly.

"I see your crack squad is prepping for duty." Peggy mused as she looked over at the drunk team having a good time.

"You don't like music?" Bucky questioned looking at Peggy.

Dorothy wrinkled her nose a little bit as she shifted a little on her feet. Dorothy went over to the bar and ordered a drink. With all of the tension of what was going on and the heavy flirting with Peggy, she needed the drink.

"I do," Peggy said as she continued to look at Steve. "I may even, when this is all over, go dancing."

Bucky grinned and nodded at the dance floor. "Then what are we waiting for?"

"The right partner." She said with a smile before turning on her heels to walk away. "08:00, Captain."

"Yes ma'am. I'll be there."

Bucky looked rather puzzled that Peggy blew him off.

Steve patted Bucky's shoulder. "Maybe try her friend," Steve said moving his head to where Dorothy sat rather alone drinking a whiskey neat.

Bucky's eyes went to the younger Stark sibling and he bit his lip softly. He looked back at Steve. "Think she'll want to dance?"

Steve shrugged his shoulders. "Why don't you try and ask her and see? You were rather taken with her before."

Bucky let out a soft chuckle. "She's an agent and Stark's sister…" Bucky pointed out to his friend. "I am sure that she wouldn't want to be around a guy like me that probably could bore her to death."

Steve shrugged again. "I don't think Mr. Stark will stop you from talking to her."

Bucky took a breath and squared his shoulders. He knew that he needed to do this. He turned and walked over to her slowly. "Drinking alone?"

Dorothy turned slightly in her seat putting the whisky glass down. "Yes, it's better than being at the base alone with Howard working on his many toys."

Bucky slowly slid into the seat next to her. He looked at the dark-haired, hazel-eyed woman wondering why she said that. "You don't like it when your brother works on so many things?"

Dorothy shrugged her shoulders slightly. "He usually ends up having something blowing up."

Bucky let out a soft chuckle.

Dorothy reached down and grabbed her drink, polishing it off fairly easily.

"Agent Stark?" Bucky said finally getting the nerve to talk to her about why he was there.

Dorothy's eyes slid over to him, her dark brow raising slightly. "Yes, Sergeant Barnes?"

"Would you like to go dancing?" He asked, giving her a boyish smile.

Dorothy's cheeks heated up. "Oh…" She cleared her throat shyly. "I can't say I've been dancing."

Bucky slowly got up to his feet and then offered her his hand.

Dorothy looked at him surprised that he was even offering to do this.

"Would you like to dance?"

Dorothy shyly took his hand and he brought her up to her feet. Dorothy shyly walked with Bucky towards the dance floor.

His teammates howled in happiness seeing Bucky asking a girl to dance.

Dorothy shyly looked up at him as she began to dance with him slowly. Dorothy bit her lip softly. "So why ask me to dance, when you were interested in Agent Carter?" She asked softly.

"She wasn't interested in me. She was interested in Steve."

"I know she fancies him a lot," Dorothy said softly as they danced across the dance floor to the soft music that played. "It was clear to see that she's interested in him. And men are interested in her. Not me."

"Why do you think that?" Bucky questioned softly, his brows furrowing a bit.

"Well, you like her."

Bucky pursed his lips together.

"People see me either as off limits or something to conquer." Dorothy shook her head lightly. "All because I'm Howard's sister."

"Well, your brother has quite the reputation."

Dorothy shrugged her shoulders a little bit. "He's known to be a lady's man. He loves women. I don't think he will ever settle down."

"And you?" Bucky questioned softly. "You think you might settle down?"

Dorothy looked up into his blue eyes with her hazel ones. Her cheeks flushed a little bit in embarrassment. "Well… I haven't thought about it too much. I mean I would love to settle down… with the right guy." She said softly, biting her red-painted lip.

Bucky smiled softly as he brought her in closer. "Yeah? You see yourself married with kids?"

Dorothy nodded her head shyly. "Yes." She admitted softly.

Bucky slowly continued to dance with her. "You're a wonderful dancer."

Dorothy looked up at him shyly once again looking through her dark lashes. "So are you." She said softly as she continued to move with him even though the song had changed. "Your fellow team is getting a show and you don't mind that?"

Bucky let out a soft chuckle. He then looked up seeing Steve walk towards them.

"Agent Stark?" Steve said softly.

Dorothy turned around looking over at Steve. "Yes?"

"I need to ask you something."

"What would that be?" She questioned blinking a few times.

"I want to know if you want to be on the team. Since you have done so much for me."

Dorothy worried her lower lip softly thinking. Could she handle a team of men? The answer was yes she could, there was nothing that they would do that would shock her. She took a breath and looked up at Steve. "Alright."

"You'll do it?" Steve asked in shock.

Dorothy nodded her head. "As long as you promise my brother that you'll keep me safe. Howard is rather protective of me."

Steve nodded his head. "I will try my best."

Dorothy smiled a small smile. "I know you will, Steve." She looked back towards Bucky and saw his eyes wide. "What?"

"You want to do this?" Bucky said softly slowly reaching up to her cheek and touching it softly.

Dorothy smiled a soft smile. "Yes." She admitted softly leaning into his touch. "I have to do something other than waiting and watching and not being able to do anything."

Bucky swallowed the lump in his throat. "If you say so."

Dorothy smiled softly. "I'll be alright. With this team… you'll all protect me fairly well and I'm sure that I'll save you guys as well."

Bucky gave her a small soft smile. He had to admit that knowing that helped some.

This is the end of Chapter 11. We got some nice scenes between Bucky and Dorothy and Steve and Dorothy and Peggy and Dorothy. It kind of makes me feel all fuzzy inside. There will be much more to come and you know that the story will continue and you know who Dorothy likes so far. I can't wait to write more for this story. Only 4 chapters left and it'll be all finished with Captain America the First Avenger. I know I could spell it out some but it's kind of hard to do so. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. I'll try to update you soon. Until next time.
