I own nothing
….
'Uh-uh, uh, uh'
"Yes, you are," Graham starts to run after the alluring woman as she starts to attack the Daleks with a baseball bat.
"Are you coming Graham?" She shouts behind her as he runs past her. 'This Graham reminds me of me.' They blow up some Daleks and as they run away from the explosion, she hears that wonderful sound. 'He also has a nickname for the Professor.' They move into the TARDIS, Graham goes over to Yaz and meets Vinder.
"What are you watching," Tegan asks after she steps onto the TARDIS?"
"There is something about Graham."
"Graham," Tegan looks closely at her friend as the Doctor comes in. Over the next 10 minutes, they are on a different planet, Graham makes a stupid joke in Tegan's opinion and Yaz carries the Doctor onto the TARDIS.
'You brush past me in the hallway
And you don't think I, I, I can see ya, do ya?
I've been watchin' you for ages
And I spend my time tryin' not to feel it'
Tegan watches on from the café as her friend walks off with the man they just met. "You know Ace better than I do, what is up with her?" Kate Stewart asks.
"I don't know, as I stepped onto the TARDIS, she was watching him."
"Is she smitten with him?"
"I think she is."
Meanwhile, "do you prefer Graham or John?"
"Graham, I didn't know that you knew the Doc."
"Well now you know," she smiles at him and he smiles back. "Who is Ryan?"
"My Grandson, we lost his Gran when we met the Doc."
"I am sorry for your loss."
"Thank you, it was hard. How are you getting home? I am going to catch a bus."
"The former bus driver is catching the bus."
"I am, want to join me?"
"Sure, you can give me the secrets of what it's like driving a bus."
'But what would you do if I went to touch you now?
What would you do if they never found us out?
What would you do if we never made a sound?'
As Graham explains why he started this group he and Ace share a look as everyone else looks around the room. When Ace and Tegan check on Yaz, he sneaks a glance at Ace. Hearing Mel say something about a longtime, he looks away. Nearing the 20 minute mark Ace looks at Graham again, both Tegan and Yaz notice it.
"What is going on between you and Graham," Yaz asks after they all stopped talking.
"Nothing, he is growing to be a good mate of mine."
"One that you like watching," Tegan teases.
"There is something about him that I am trying to figure out."
"He's a good man, I have known him for years." The younger woman says.
"Yaz, I have already figured that out. He and I have talked and hung out a lot."
Graham comes up behind them, "need a ride home Yaz?"
"I'm fine, is Ryan still away?"
"He is," Ace knows that it's killing him not seeing Ryan. "I am going to head out. Are we still up for next Saturday?" Graham asks Ace.
"We are." She smiles as she replies to his question.
'Cause I can see you waitin' down the hall from me
And I could see you up against the wall with me
And what would you do? Baby, if you only knew
That I can see you'
Later that night he walks into his house that he used to share with Grace, the overwhelming guilt he had been feeling for the past month strikes him. "Grace, what do I do? I still miss you, but Ace is amazing." He walks around the house conflicted. "I miss you Grace." He slumps down when his phone rings.
"Hello."
"What is going on between you and Ace?" He recognizes the other voice on the end belonging to Yaz.
"She is a good mate, Yaz. I still miss Grace and Ace deserves someone that can give her their whole heart."
"You can do that. You like her right?"
"I don't know what I want."
"Figure it out."
'Uh-uh, uh, uh'
Ace and Graham are out at a nice restaurant together laughing and lightly flirting. Ace gets a look about her and decides to bring it up. "Graham, we seem to do this a lot."
"What a lot?"
"Flirt, and enjoy it. I know I enjoy it."
"I also enjoy it, I just don't know what to do."
"We can date."
"I don't know if I am ready. You deserve someone who still isn't still hung up on their dead wife."
"I haven't found anyone I like in years. I think I can wait for a little while longer."
'And we kept everything professional
But something's changed, it's somethin' I, I like
They keep watchful eyes on us
So it's best that we move fast and keep quiet
You won't believe half the things I see inside my head
Wait 'til you see half the things that haven't happened yet'
Graham is thinking about what he should get Ace for Christmas. "Grace, is it ok if I move on?" He knows he won't get a reply, but knowing Grace she would want him to be happy. Graham enters the building where they are holding a Christmas party. Nyssa is putting up some mistletoe. Graham gets a smile on his face holding his gift for Ace. It's a book on some of the world's most popular charities with naming her charity with a note from him in it.
"What is that in your arms," the woman that was just occupying his thoughts asks.
"It's your gift," he steps back as she tries to grab it. "You can wait for it," when she pouts he wants to kiss her. What he didn't realize while he was talking to Ace, Nyssa had moved the latter.
"You two are under the mistletoe," Tegan shouts to them. Ace doesn't expect Graham to set down the gift and frame Ace's face with his hands and kisses her.
"I'm ready Ace," he tells her after they stop kissing. She drags him in again and kisses him harder and runs her hands along his back until they reach around his neck.
'But what would you do if I went to touch you now?
What would you do if they never found us out?
What would you do if we never made a sound?'
"Our first official date," Ace is holding Graham's hand across the table.
"I'm sorry it took me so long to see what was in front of me."
"It hasn't been that long. Barely a month since we talked about my feelings for you."
"It feels longer." He smiles at her as he remembers all the conversations, he had with her and with Grace.
"Now we can have a long enjoyable time together."
"We can, a very long time," he lifts up their joined hands and kisses her knuckle.
"I hope so, I care about you and I like you a lot."
"I also like you a lot, Ace." They continue their date.
'Cause I can see you waitin' down the hall from me
And I could see you up against the wall with me
And what would you do? Baby, if you only knew, oh, oh, oh
That I could see you throw your jacket on the floor
I could see you, make me want you even more
What would you do? Baby, if you only knew
That I can see you'
"So Ace, how is the boyfriend doing?" Tegan asks her friend as she sits next to her.
"He is doing good. Ryan is home for a few days."
"Are you going to meet him?" The Australian asks.
"Not yet, we talked about it, even though I have talked to Ryan over the phone, Graham and I get the feeling Ryan isn't ready for Graham to move on."
"You are not seeing him for once?! That makes the first week after how many you have known each other?" Ace's friend teases her.
"Over 30," a smile at that, "we will still see each other when Ryan goes out with friends. Graham will be coming to my place."
"A rendezvous?"
"Probably just a movie and a cuddle."
"Come on, give me something?"
"There will be kissing," Tegan watches as Ace gets a faraway look.
"Good kissing?"
"There is only good kissing with the two of us. Tegan, go be with your wife, I am going to go somewhere myself."
'Uh-uh, uh, uh'
When Ace finds the cemetery she wants to go to, she gets out of the car. Before she finds the exact grave, she sees two figures standing there. One she knows, the other she doesn't. Ace quickly finds a grave, she is shocked to know the name of one of her old classmates. "When did you move to Sheffield?" She sits down and quietly talks to her old classmate. After she notices Graham and Ryan left, she gets up and goes to Grace's grave.
"Hello Grace, I am Ace. I wanted to tell you something. I am seeing Graham. I love him, and have since we met many months ago. You will always have a place in my life, since you mean so much to him. I will make sure Ryan knows he also has a place with me too. You were a special woman. Only something like that can evoke the love and total devotion of a man."
'I can see you in your suit and your necktie
Passed me a note saying, "Meet me tonight"
Then we kissed and you know I won't ever tell, yeah
And I could see you being my addiction
You can see me as a secret mission
Hide away and I will start behaving myself'
"How was your home date with Graham," Nyssa teases Ace as she walks into the office the following Monday.
"It was nice."
"Just nice?"
"Nyssa, we haven't gone that far yet. This time instead of starting on opposite sides of the couch and migrating to be right next to each other, we started right next to each other." What Ace leaves out is that they ended up making out halfway through the movie.
"Anything else?"
"That stays between him and I."
"Ohh, was it close to what you need?"
"That right now is for my very active imagination." Ace walks away not wanting to listen to any more of the teasing.
'Uh-uh, uh, uh
Oh-oh, oh, oh'
"Ryan, thank you for visiting."
"I went out for drinks with Yaz and she told me something."
"What did she say?"
"You are seeing someone."
"Are you ok with it?"
"How did you meet?"
"You already know, I am seeing Ace."
"I should've guessed. You do talk about her a lot."
"I do?"
"You do, I think it's cool you are seeing her."
"I'm glad, I was worried you wouldn't be ok with me moving on."
"From what little I know Ace is cool."
"She is," Graham adds with a large smile.
"Next time I am home, I should meet her."
"You will."
'I can see you waitin' down the hall from me
And I could see you up against the wall with me
And what would you do? Baby, if you only knew, oh
That I could see you throw your jacket on the floor
I could see you, make me want you even more
What would you do? Baby, if you only knew
That I can see you, oh, I can see you'
Ace and Graham are having a private dinner at her house. From up above a woman is called over, "I think it's going to happen. My best friend and your husband are finally going to admit it."
"Manisha, they have been close to saying it for weeks now."
"Grace, look at how they are looking at each other."
"He looked at me like that," Grace is happy that Graham is happy.
Meanwhile, "Ace."
"Yes." She looks into his eyes and sees the emotion that she has been seeing behind those baby blues for weeks now, hopefully he can see it reflected in hers.
"I love you. As in I am in love with you."
"I am in love with you too Graham."
"Really?" He asked, shocked.
"Yes," Ace gets up and walks to Graham's side and gets to his level. "I love you Graham O'Brien." She then kisses him, he stands up and deepens the kiss.
'Oh, I see you, I see you, baby
I see you
(Uh-uh, uh, uh) I see you, I see you, baby
Oh, baby'
That night after they finally become one, Ace is in Graham's arms. "I love you Graham."
"I love you too Ace," he answers back, slightly tired out.
"You want to sleep don't you?"
"I do." They both end up falling asleep with smiles on their faces.
