This is the new and updated sequel to my other Sherlock fan fiction "The bloodline". Forget about "Death do not do us apart" please! You need to read "The bloodline" before you read this; otherwise you will be thoroughly confused!

Sherlock Holmes has been withdrawn from the world for a very long time and no one seems to understand why. He writes a memoir for himself so that maybe he too can remember, and he can help John understand a bit more about himself. Bad summary! sorry rated T for drug use

John keeps having nightmares of Sherlock's death. Desperate to get to sleep, he makes a call to someone he thinks can help distract him. It's the best kind of distraction he could have hoped for, and the one he was least expecting.

After taking down the most stomach-churning villain he's ever faced, Sherlock Holmes finds himself reevaluating a certain person in his life & discovers he might just be getting the hang of this "friendship" thing after all. Edited slightly to make it align with Series 3 canon. Series 1-3 compliant.
