This story was written pre-season 2, but as I am new to this site I am posting it now to get a hang of things. Sherlock has always seemed cold and emotionless to John Watson, but what don't we know about his past? And who might be lurking in the shadows?

The detective is horrified when it finally hits him just how dependent he's become on John, and it destroys him to think of the possibility that he'll once again have to stand on his own two feet. Problem is, Sherlock isn't sure he remembers how.
