Time slowly passed as they hung in the vines, it could have been hours, it could have been days. Fitz and Linh were looking even worse and Biana had fallen unconscious. Tam was pretending to be asleep but he heard everything they said. "Sweet pea they're getting worse! Can you please come and see?" Ruy called from somewhere Tam couldn't see. Gisela stormed in, "Hmm… I guess they are. Might as well get started." Started with what? Tam thought. "Wake him up."
Ruy shook Tam and he pretended to be startled awake. "Jeez, you don't gotta do that so hard." "Gisela wants to talk to you." Ruy said as Gisela pulled up a chair so she could sit in front of Tam. "There's something you need to know, you have an essence." "A what?" Tam asked. "An essence. It's what gives an elf their powers, the lifeblood inside us. Without it we are nothing!" "Ok….." "The mist seeping out of you is your essence. The vines are slowly taking it out of you and consuming it themselves. When we boil the vines they shrivel up and release the essence. When I consume the essence it strengthens my powers and gives me the power of whoever's essence I drink. The only downside is without an essence you die." Tam's heart sunk.
