Akeno smirked as she deflected another one of the explosive flaming bullets Yubelluna fired at her, the sky around her filled with the explosions that were the staple of the Phenex Bomb Queen. The heat of each explosion washed over her as she flipped and spun through the skies like a leaf on the wind, dodging and escaping each attack with ease. She couldn't help but laugh as the Bomb Queen grew even more frustrated as her assault found no purchase nor any ground to end this duel, as was the look of thunderous outrage on her mature face. Akeno threw her own volley of spells in return, bolts of molten stone hurled at the woman as the pair danced.
The anger only grew as Akeno threw up a massive glacier of ice, tanking a massive explosion before shoving the barrier towards Yubelluna as she pulled at the winds to pull in the clouds. She would give those watching a good show on what a storm was. Blocking another round of explosive projectiles, Akeno smirk only deepened as Yubelluna rushed her. She was getting desperate now, given that most of Yubelluna's assaults were long ranged attacks. She never entered close combat unless she was very very desperate, which was perfect for Akeno.
Lightning danced through her blood as she felt the sparks of power dance across her skin as she deflected the first punch, then redirected the next. Yubelluna was simply trying to hit her so her power would be forced against her body, an instant knockout blow. Akeno had learned from that, having been put through her paces by Medusa and the Spear Huntress along with the Satanic Hunter. All of them had toughened her up and also had her get a greater immunity to magical based attacks, she remembered being so weak from the assaults of the Satanic hunter as he simply forced Akeno's body and magic to be so weak.
Yubelluna wasn't gonna harm her or knock her out in one go unless she had something that was around the power of a thermonuclear blast, as the younger Queen backhanded the Phenex Queen. Lightning lashed out from her contact with Yubelluna's face, leaving burns across her cheek as she cried out in pain. The power of the Holy Element had coursed through Akeno's body and it was clear that with her training, the former Himejima clan member smirked as she let her body become a living bolt of holy lightning. Her robes billowed as her aura became so bright that it physically forced Yubelluna away from her, unable to be anywhere near her.
The skies continued to grow darker as the words of the spell entered her mind and the memory of who had given her permission to use it in battle.
Akeno was unsure as to why Miki Hyoudou had asked her to come over, after only a day back from training. The next morning would be the day of the Rating Game, something that made the hybrid nervous but she would not let what ifs plague her now. Stepping onto the porch of the Hyoudou residence, she rang the doorbell. Within a few moments, the door opened to show the rather youthful face of Issei's mother.
"Hello Akeno!" Miki beamed at her before motioning her to enter her home.
"Hello, Mrs. Hyoudou," Akeno smiled in return as she walked inside, the door being closed behind her, "you did ask me to come over after all."
"Indeed, I did." Miki said before leading the younger woman into her living room, "I have to say from one shrine priestess to another, the Shinto Deities have had their eye on you, Daughter of Lightning."
Akeno blinked before flushing as the lightning in her body burned at being acknowledged as Miki giggled. Miki had Akeno sit across from her as the older woman served tea, the teenager sipping at it before tilting her head at Miki.
"They were watching me?"
"Indeed," Miki said after putting her tea cup down, "unlike most people, you have made a rather good impression upon Susanoo and Rajiin. Both deities have wanted to show their power through you in the upcoming Rating Game, which is gonna be broadcasted through some unknown means but I digress. They want you to show that their pantheon still is as powerful as it was in the past."
Akeno looked dumbfounded before blushing from the thought of two of the powerhouses of the Shinto wanting her to show off their power. She was a simple shrine maiden of an abandoned shrine to them, nothing more.
"Chin up," Miki instructed, making Akeno look up in surprise, "I will teach you this spell. Because calling upon them isn't just magic being used, but you are calling upon the very powers of the Sky and Earth to eliminate your foes."
The sky darkened, winds howling as the arena was cast in the hurricane like storm's darkness. Akeno let the power that was within her built into towards a zenith as she lifted her arms towards the heavens. Thunder boomed, the drums of Rajiin clearly heard as Lightning flashed. The storm roared as it churned faster and faster, rain beginning to fall as she lowered her hands so they pointed at Yubelluna.
"By the unruly storms of Susanoo, the fierce thunders of Rajiin, come to me lights of the Gods!"
Once the words were spoken, the contract was signed. Within her head, Akeno felt two overwhelming presences looking through her very soul before their power poured into her like a Tsunami. That power boiled within her, infusing itself with her lightning and the Holy power that was given to her by her Father. With an almighty roar, the lightning came. Ripping out of her palms and fingers with the ferocity of a maddening stampede. Yubelluna, for the briefest of moments, looked in horror upon Akeno before the power of the storm collided with her.
The power slammed into the Bomb Queen of Phenex, hurling into the ground with the force of a nuke. The explosion hurled dust and smoke everywhere as Akeno smiled to herself, slowly lowering herself out of the sky to see the destruction of the spell. With a simple wave of her hand, the wind pushes the smoke away to reveal the broken, smoking, sparking body of Yubelluna. Limbs jerked as her nerves were torched, covered in the lightning scarring of any lighting victim as she weakly gasped. Akeno landed within the crater and pulled a vial that caught her attention off the neck of the Queen.
"Phenex tears, how interesting," she thought, "did she really believe she could be able to survive may attacks long enough to tire me out?"
Yubelluna whimpered something incoherent before her body disappeared within the glow of the arena retrieval magicks.
[Riser's Queen has been Retired.]
"Good," She smirked before spotting the forms of Mary and Inaba as they came out of the forest that surrounded the mock school grounds, "Rias's plan is coming to fruition. Time for it to come to its final conclusion."
The moment the announcement of Yubelluna's fall was heard, Ravel knew that this entire game was now becoming a sham. Currently; Karlamine, Siris, and Isabela were trying to hold off against the towering monstrosity that was Rias's Knight. Key word being 'trying', as Kiba was tanking damage that would have put down any other Knight. Ravel and Mihae were providing magical support in the background like healing spells or defensive barriers to hold back the massive armored monster that Rias had called her "Dreadknight".
"GRAAAAHHH!" The massive armored foe bellowed, backhanding Isabela into one of the basketball hoops.
Ravel rushed over to the fallen Rook, whose body had snapped the metal pole that held the hoop up in twain. Magic pooling into her hands as she reached the older woman's side, hands pressing into her back as she started to softly chant the runes of healing. Isabela hissed as her spine shattered then repaired itself from the ancient Babylonian spell.
"This spell is so fucking painful," The half masked woman sneered, slowly getting to her feet, "that thing won't stop at all."
Ravel grimaced before her eyes flicked over to see Siris parry the massive sword of Kiba away before slicing it in two. That made her spirits lift up before they were promptly snuffed out, as Siris was pummeled into the ground by a massive warhammer that had appeared in a flash of light in the Knight of Gremory's hands. The ground rippled before the weapon was lifted up, as a soft glow of blue filled the crater before it vanished.
[Riser's Knight has been Retired.]
"N-no," Karlamine cried out as her brothers only standing Knight glowered hate filled eyes at the hulking armored monster that was Kiba, "you'll pay for this insult you demon!"
"The only demons here that I can see," The deep voice that came out of the helmet of the towering figure, "are the ones that are working for a greedy, pitiful boy that simply wants to ruin my Queen's life and mind!"
The warhammer vanished as it was replaced with a spiked mace, brought down with the strength of a Rook and speed of a Knight. The ground erupted violently from the impact of the newly created weapon, sending ripples through the ground. Karlamine was quickly finding it impossible to leave the defensive as Kiba was forcing her to jump, weave and dodge the spiked mace. However, Ravel realized that the Riser Knight made a miscalculation with one of her jumps. She hung in the air for a second too long as Kiba's hand shot out and grabbed her ankle.
Kiba slammed the Knight into the ground, breaking the concrete with the force of the blow before doing it several more times. The ground was covered in holes now that were the results of the battle, another now being the hole that held Karlamine. A blue glow filled the crater before the voice of Grayfia announced her removal from the game.
[Riser's Knight has been Retired.]
"You fought well against my Dreadknight, Ravel Phenex," The voice of Rias said from her throne composed of the Power of Destruction and Demonic Chaos, "but the battle is now over. You may either self-retire or be put down like lowly dogs, let it be known that I don't have some compassion within my soul."
Ravel looked at the mask that Rias wore, pondering her options before looking at Isabela. She was shaking from the Babylonian spell taking her stamina to repair her spinal cord, making her unable to fight while both she and Mihae were not combat oriented fighters in any good way. Sure they had combat spells but nothing in the way to use them in a fighting capacity. She was well and truly screwed.
"Isabela, Mihae," She said with a heavy heart and dark tone to her voice, "retire yourselves. We cannot win, and I suspect that her peerage has surrounded this location here."
Isabela grimaced before nodding shakily, "understood, I retire."
As she was beginning to glow, Mihae shakily said, "I, too, retire!"
Ravel let the pair vanish before standing straight, giving Rias a cold glare before she hissed through her teeth, "I, Ravel Phenex, retire."
As the blue glow of the magic pulled her away from the arena, she couldn't help but think that she had left her brother alone with a monster.
[Riser's Rook and Two Bishops have Retired.]
The voice of Grayfia cut through the fog in his mind as he finally felt in control of his own body for the first time in…how long had it been? The last thing he remembered was the feeling of drowning before nothing. Looking around him, he found himself in a school building of some sort that he didn't recognize. Slowly, memories came to him as he started to realize where he was and why he was in this predicament.
A Rating Game that he really shouldn't have been in, a very angry red head after his blood and now everyone thinking he was some manipulative bastard. He was starting to curse his luck in life before he heard the voice of Rias echo through the dark school hallways.
"Oh Riser."
His blood ran cold as he looked around, the voice of Aunt Venelana's daughter filling the void of the hallway. He was getting the vibes of some very terrifying horror movie, as the voice faded away. He had to make a plan quickly, probably something to alert her that the other him wasn't currently in control. Though, with how bad his reputation was now, he guessed that Rias might not believe him at all.
"Riser, where are you?"
That time, the voice was clearly closer, as Riser grimaced before the wall on his right exploded. Debris was sent everywhere as a few cut open his face and arms, his flames burning them closed like they never existed. Haloed by destructive power, Rias Gremory stepped through the hole. Her long crimson hair braided to something similar to dreadlocks, which sways with every step she took towards him. In her right hand was a spear, gleaming slightly as light from in the hole glinted off its tip. Riser stepped back, feeling the aura of death radiating off the younger woman as he realized how screwed he was in this situation.
"Much like you will be for coming to the surface." Another voice in his head said, making him shudder.
The other him was awake, he just woke up and now was forced to split his attention between that and a very angry Rias. Oh, this was just not his day anymore.
Rias looked at the pale face of Riser Phenex as she pondered on what she was going to end him, as the man looked ready to bolt. She hummed to herself before something caught her attention, his eyes were acting very oddly. One of his eyes was a soft blue but the other was a sickly yellow, something that reminded her of a sickly werewolf from a horror movie.
"Oh, the little cosplaying girl arrives," The voice that was clearly the Riser she grew up hating spoke, "time to put you down like the fake you are."
This was way more aggressive then she was used to hearing from him, but she simply brushed that aside as the other voice spoke.
"Just put me down," this more stress-filled voice said, the blue eye looking at her with a pleading look, "put this monster down."
"That's enough out of you, little boy," The other voice hissed, as the blue eye started to slowly turn sickly yellow, "If you won't do the deed, I'll do it and make sure she won't ever rise up again."
Rias struck, the back of her spear slamming between the legs of the devil. That caused the blue eye to reappear as both voices gasped, making her smirk. Despite the personalities fighting, that move was very satisfying. She moved closer before kicking Riser down the hall, his pain filled body bouncing down the hallway ahead of her.
"ENOUGH!" Both eyes glowed a bright yellow as the hated personality took overfully as he erupted into flames, "You've made yourself a pest and something that needs to be put down like a rat, little girl."
"Clearly is too self absorbed to realize how outclassed he is," Rias thought bluntly as she watched the fire cover Riser, making him a living pillar of flame that started to turn blue, "very well, time to put him down for good. Hopefully the other personality survives this assault."
As those watching were reeling from the fact that the Riser from before this incident was still there, the school exploded like someone had set off a bomb. As two figures leapt out of the cloud of smoke and debris, a blue humanoid that was Riser Phenex. The other was knocking away the flaming projectiles with her spear, spinning the weapon around herself before slashing it across his chest. The flames parted as Riser roared from the agony of being struck by the weapon, the powers of Bael and Gremory ripping apart the atoms and destroying the body of the Phenex son.
The flames recovered the body of the boy as they fought, every stab countered and feint foiled. Both seemed to be testing the other before Rias jumped away, landing on the remaining roof of the academy. She lifted her hand as a barrier of crimson and black erupted into reality between her and Riser, obliterating the extremely blue hot flames of Riser. The barrier was hurled at Riser, who found himself spinning away so he didn't destroy himself from the combined powers of Destruction and Chaos. But, he was distracted as Rias seemed to appear behind him. Her foot came around, kicking the burning Phenex back into the school with another explosion.
The force she had used was something that was akin to a Rook piece, as she sped into the cloud of dust to continue to wear down the flaming man.
Rias landed on the ruined floor of what used to be the cafeteria of Kuoh Academy, her spear coming around to stab Riser's flaming hand into the floor before kicking him in the chin. Despite burning around the same temperature as plasma, Rias simply kept up an aura of the PoD and Demonic Chaos to counter the effects around her. Riser growled as his hand was ripped from the spearhead, the split appendage igniting to repair the damage.
"You little bitch," Riser snarled, blasting the ceiling above her before the floor collapsed with the weight of the cabinets, "JUST DIE!"
Rias backflipped before shoving her magic out, hurling the debris at Riser in answer. She would not be put down by this personality of hate and need to dominate, as Rias dodged another flame assault. She leapt at the wall, bouncing off it as her spear came round and slashed its blade across Riser's face. He backpedaled as his own flames blacked his vision, making him blind to her assault. Her spear knocked his feet out from under him as she slammed the shaft of her weapon across his chest, the ground breaking from the force of her strike.
She jumped back as fire exploded upwards before Riser stood up, growling darkly before blasting the ceiling with his flames. Soon, the ceiling was collapsing as melting material rained down into the room. Rias beat a hasty retreat from the cafeteria before leaping onto the roof of the academy, coughing a bit before the heat rose. She turned, spear at the ready before noticing that Riser's flames were vanishing.
Finally, his stamina was finally failing him.
"You little pest," Riser sneered as the flames around his body finally died, "I won't let you win, you will bow down to me as you're better."
"You are not my better," Rias said before straightening, smirking behind her mask, "in fact, the only betters that I have are my elder Brother, my parents and my family. You are nothing more then a personality that has suppressed the real Riser for decades, so I'm going to end this with what my teacher taught me."
The spear spun in her right hand before she was holding it like a javelin ready to be thrown. Power exploded into the air, as her aura grew. The Power of Destruction and Demonic Chaos coursed through the spear as she grinned behind her mask. As the power built up, she let it run into the spear as she tensed her body for the feat of arms that only one pantheon on the Earth had.
"GÁE BOLG!" She roared, hurling the spear across the roof into the heart of her enemy.
In the many retellings of the story of Cú Chulainn, there was one move that everyone knew was the Irish warrior's repertoire. The feat of arms known as Gáe Bolg, also known to several circles as "The Thorn Spear of the Shadow Hound", a move that over time became something of a mythical move. It also became something in a little game where mythological heroes fought in a seven way war or even fixing time. However, the move itself was something that could only be taught and mastered by a student of Scáthach. This move channeled the emotions, power and magic of the person into that of a spear.
The words themselves were also a part of the steps needed to use the mastery of arms, releasing the power into the very being the spear was thrown at. The spear would always aim true, aiming for the heart of the target before either killing the target or physically maiming them beyond reason so they would never fight back. However, that fact never took into account the powers of the Phenex Family.
As the spear rushed into the heart of Riser Phenex, the combined powers of Bael and Gremory surged through the vascular system. Every blood vessel turned black and erupted out of the arteries, veins and capillaries of the circulatory system. Riser couldn't exactly scream as his body became a pin cushion of black spikes that tore through his muscles, skin and bones. His legs shattered as the production centers of the blood were destroyed, blinded as his eyes were destroyed by multiple spikes. His existence now was absolute agony, a representation of what he had made Rias's like for nearly a decade.
Yet, Riser still lived.
Even as he was pulled out of the arena, he still lived as his body was taken immediately to the surgery room.
Rias watched as Riser's body was removed through the magics of the game arena, her spear rematerializing in her right hand. She was very tired now, her entire self spent from that move. She wasn't like her grand student, Cú Chulainn, who could use the Gáe Bolg multiple times in combat. Rias only recently mastered this feat of arms under Scáthach's tutelage, but that had taken so much out of her. She leaned on the spear as the voice of Grayfia announced their victory against Riser Phenex.
This brought a smile to her face as she took pride in her victory over him, freeing herself from the contract.
[Riser Phenex has been Retired. Rias Gremory has won the Rating Game.]
