Ahsoka Tano awoke. What had happened? She was sloshed, and zoned out; but consciousness slowly grew with her. And with it, despair. She opened her eyes, and looked around, and found herself in a med-bay room, the same artificial sanitised white colour that was mostly and most of the time very depressing.

Often, she was wounded during the war, and her master would visit her while she got better; he wasn't here today though, and she began to get worried. Anakin… The Dark Side… Palpatine… Mustafar… A forested planet - and a duel later. Between Anakin and his master. That was where it all ended.

There was a knock on the door. Who could it really be? Who would even care enough to visit her while the galaxy was burning, and for all she knew, Anakin or Obi-Wan were in the duel - one could have killed the other! She didn't wish to think more about this. "Come in…" She said faintly.

"Ahsoka!" Two girls entered. Both of tan complexion, and messy brown hair, with one or both sides of the head shaved completely. An older and a younger sister. It was only about a month or more ago when she was with them. Where they fought together and had an incident adventure together.

"I can't imagine how you knew about me…" Ahsoka told the Martez sisters.

"Well, things have changed a lot," said Trace Martez.

"Yeah," said Ahsoka, and seriously, she continued. "It's not safe anymore. You shouldn't have come to me."

"There's hope," said Trace. "Bail Organa - I heard of the guy once - he's chancellor again and some Republic officers themselves told me about you and invited me there."

"What…" Ahsoka said faintly. "I thought… The Empire…"

"I can't believe it either," said Rafa finally. "They're saying that the Chancellor is dead - and a Jedi, Anakin Skywalker killed him."

"... You mentioned he was your teacher, didn't you…?" said Trace.

Ahsoka had a lot to process. She kept it out of her head for now.

"I hated the Jedi the most," said Rafa. "I blamed them for our mom and dad's death. They've been gone too… Eliminated…"

"It was a massacre." Said Trace.

"I left the Order," said Ahsoka. "I made that choice. Which I told you. It was the wrong one. The Jedi me. My Jedi needed me."

"Who?" said Rafa. "Skywalker? I don't know about that. He's the one who took Palpatine's side and slaughtered the order. And now he killed the Emperor after all of that. Quite a messy and strange trial it was."

"What's happened to him now?" said Ahsoka.

"They were almost about to execute him," said Trace. "But now he's been 'exiled'. I don't know to where. It's all really weird and strange, all of this. It's just so bizarre."

"Well, yeah," said Ahsoka. "It's been a bizarre week." But Palpatine is dead. Anakin killed him. How come? Why would he? He said he needed Palpatine - why? Of course, Ahsoka knew. Palpatine was to help him with Anakin's premonitions of Padme. Which was a lie. Obviously. But Anakin realised that? This would be good news, and indeed it was, but Ahsoka was too zoned out.

Quests for Jedi, how they would show their courage and overcome their obstacles, the fear, the anger, the dark side of the force, were supposed to be grandiose journeys, full of drama and pomp. There was nothing like that here. In reality, whatever Anakin did was far from dramatic or funny. Murder. And slaughter and genocide. And Ahsoka had chosen to support him despite all of that. To be with him, to comfort him, and to help him return.

Has he even returned, even if this curious action of him murdering the emperor was true? She'd have to meet with and talk to Anakin. That was the only way to find out.

"I know you don't have much of a good impression of the Jedi," Ahsoka said, mostly to Rafa.

"I had a good impression of you," Rafa replied. "I thought all Jedi should be like you."

"Well, they aren't," said Ahsoka. This wasn't to buttress her ego, but it was true. Most Jedi were dogmatic, narrow minded and even arrogant. And when her master turned, none of them had the faith he could ever be saved and brought back to their lives. Only she had. So she was unusual.

"What's going to happen now?" said Trace.

"Well, this Organa guy," said Rafa, "and now he has some Support Council that has proclaimed a speech where they are talking about 'reconciliation, forgiveness, and understanding'. Optimistic words. A bit cringey."

Ahsoka had to suppress a small chuckle. Light-hearted humour after a long time. "Well, it might be just what the galaxy needs now."

"Can you call anyone from the Republic?" she asked the sisters.

"Ahsoka…" Trace said seriously. "You need to rest."

"I know I do." Said Ahsoka. "Call someone from the Republic."

Just then, a med droid entered. "Ahsoka Tano Madam? I have a holographic recording transmitted to me."

Ahsoka fixed her eyes to the droids, and the image of Obi-Wan Kenobi appeared. "Ahsoka…" he said calmly, with an aura of warmth and respect she had rarely seen the guarded master ever display on his features. "I've heard you're recovering. Palpatine is dead. We're hoping to resolve some of the chaos the Republic is in. Anakin is still in custody, before he's going to be exiled. But the new Support Committee has allowed him to witness the emergency procedure on Padme… she is in bad shape, but she too seems to be doing better. It's happening the day after tomorrow. Please join us. We need your support and prayers. It should all go well though - " the last sentence Kenobi said with a sardonic expression - Anakin's absurd transition to evil was for something that would probably be just a false alarm. But it would be disrespectful to label Anakin's actions out of stupidity - stupidity it was not - though possessiveness, and even some desires for control and power were there in Ahsoka's master whom she otherwise so greatly idolised.

So good news so far? I mean things could be worse. Though what's happened so far couldn't be any more worse. She'd still have to come to terms with Anakin and see really where he was when she'd meet him. After the successful delivery of Padme's baby - Anakin's child - maybe Anakin might just be completely soothed after all.

She decided to talk more to Trace and Rafa now - and be there for her friends like she was earlier - rather than necessarily having to exhaust herself with the big dealings of the macrosocial galaxy and its politics and war at large.
