CH 8

DIMITRI

I had been checked out and quickly released from the infirmary, nothing broken, just bruised. By the time we had all gotten checked out the school day was over. I was supposed to have practice with Rose, but she was still M.I.A. So I decided to just go back to the dorms and relax a bit before dinner. I needed a shower to get all the blood and dirt off me. I went to my room to grab my shower kit and noticed a note and a cell phone on my bed.

Dimitri,

Your babushka wanted to make sure you had a way to call home. Don't worry about international calls, it's been taken care of.

Still so full of surprises, I decided I was going to take that shower first then call home. I grabbed my shower kit and headed to the shared bathroom down the hall. I could hear a shower already running,thankfully they aren't shared like at St Basils, but individual stalls. I heard someone singing and the closer I got I could tell it was Eddie.

"Didn't know you could sing Castile?"

"Oh sorry, I thought I was the only one in here."

"No it's ok, you sound good, maybe if guarding doesn't work out you could sing professionally." I joked.

"Nah, these muscles I've earned aren't going to waste." I laughed then got in the shower. I stood under the water and washed away everything of the day. So much had happened and honestly I just wanted to talk to my mom, hear her voice, telling me everything is going to be ok.

The phone call with my mom and family was just what I needed. She didn't yell, but said she was proud of me. I told her I would call her every chance that I got. She said she knew I was safe and not to worry about calling everyday. I needed to focus on my studies and become Christian's Guardian.

It was dinner by the time I had showered and got off the phone. Christian was already at our table with Eddie, but no Rose or Lissa. He waved me over as I walked in, but I bypassed them to get in line. With everything that happened today I had missed lunch and was starving. I got my food quickly and walked back to sit down.

"Man you look worse than Eddie."

"Thanks."

"What? You do. I wouldn't be your best friend if I didn't tell you how bad you looked."

"Where's your girlfriend? You two have been attached at the hip since you met."

"One, she's not my girlfriend. Two, you should talk. And three, I don't know. She was pulled out of class and I haven't seen her since."

"Yeah, no one has seen her or Rose since what happened this morning." Eddie said.

"You're never going to believe who is here." Mason said as he ran over towards our table.

"More gossip Mason?"

"Listen to me, this isn't gossip. I saw it for myself."

"What?"

"I was in Alberta's office when it happened and I still can't believe it."

"Get to the point, Mase."

"The Queen is here." Eddie's eyes got as big as saucers.

"I have to find Rose. This isn't good." Eddie said as he quickly got up.

"Why? What's going on? Asked Christian.

"I don't have time to explain, but if the Queen is here it means that Rose is in a lot of trouble."

ROSE

The meeting with the Queen was brutal and I deserved everything that she said. After about an hour they came up with a solution. I was going to go to court for a week, for "punishment". Truth be told I wasn't going to be punished like everyone else thought I was. I would be spending the week training and Lissa would be working with Adrian. We would all be trying to figure out how to make sure the darkness didn't take over again.

Me and Lissa were on my fathers private jet on our way to court. That's right, my fathers private jet.

"You're thinking about Dimitri aren't you?"

"I'm the one that knows what you're thinking, not the other way around."

" We've been friends since we were five. I just know you."

"Fine you caught me."

"What were you thinking about?" She wiggled her eyebrows.

"Nothing dirty you perv. I was thinking that it's going to suck being away from him for a week."

"You have a crush don't you? My little Rosie has a crush."

"Don't call me Rosie, and you're the one to talk about a crush. I know exactly what you are feeling for Christian."

"Damn bond."

"Don't worry Liss, he may be a snarky asshole, but he is good to and for you."

"Please don't bring it up around Tatiana. I think she wants me and Adrian to get together."

"You and Adrian? I don't think so. You know he has a crush on me and I would never let you get together with him, it's not safe. Just going on one date would give you an STD."

"Rose, he's not that bad." I glared at her.

"Not that bad! He's slept with half the Moiri and Dhamphirs at court."

"He just needs the right person to settle him down."

"That's not going to be you."

"I know, but Tatiana can be very persistent. You know once she has an idea in her head she won't let it go. You are lucky me and you're dad talked her out of banning you from the Moiri society."

"She wasn't going to ban me."

"No, but she was going to kick you out of the academy. Then what would we have done?"

"We would have left, like we talked about after the accident. My father was ready to get me out if things went bad with the Queen."

"Speaking of your dad, I still can't believe he's the infamous Abe Mazer."

"If he's so infamous how come everyone knows who he is except for me?"

"That's because you're a Dhamphir, he's well known to Moiri. When he told you he was more powerful than the Queen he meant it. Tatiana was definitely afraid of him."

"Wow, I'm a mob boss's daughter."

"That would explain so much."

"Liss." I smacked her playfully.

"What you know I'm right!"

"Whatever, doesn't matter as long as I'm still going to be your Guardian

I was so exhausted from everything that happened that I fell asleep the rest of the way to court. The plan was that I was going to be staying at my dads house that he had at court. I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that I had a dad, let alone he was this close to me and I never knew. Lissa was going to be staying with the Queen in the palace, even though she really wanted to go to her parents place. When they died she inherited everything including their house at court, their lake house, a beach house, and several other properties. Unfortunately she wouldn't gain possession of them til she turned twenty one. And the Queen being the Queen wanted Lissa under her thumb at all times so she would be with her.

"Wake up sleepy head. You're starting to drool."

"I don't drool." I said with my eyes still closed.

"Tell that to the pillow you drowned." I shot up and looked at the pillow.

"Liar, it's completely dry." I picked it up and threw it at her.

"Hey, no fair. You know I don't have reflexes like you."

"That's what you get."

"At least it got you up."

"Girls, we're at court now and you need to behave."

"Yes mother." My mom was only going to be with us for a couple of days then she is going back to her charge. For once I was a little sad she was leaving, normally I wouldn't care. But for the first time in my life I felt like she actually cared and wanted to get to know me and be a mother.

I gathered my bag and started to exit the plane. We got to the door and to my horror stood Adrian.

"Little Dhampir, nice to see you back to yourself."

"I oughta kick your ass Adrian, but you'd like that too much, wouldn't you?"

"Guilty as charged. To be honest Shane needed to be taken down a peg or two anyways."

"Adrian be serious. Your aunt almost kicked Rose out of the academy." Lissa said and smacked him across the back of his head."

"Nah, I wouldn't have let her kick you out, Rose. You know I'm very charming and could have talked her out of it." He winked at me, ugh I wanted to vomit.

"Lord Ivashkov, I think Rose has been helped enough by you today." I thought Adrian was going to shit his pants when he saw my dad.

"Adrian I would like to introduce you to my father, Abe Mazer."
