"Hi there. My name is Takato. This story happened to me and my friends during Halloween, when we still young enough to go trick-or-treating."
"It was Halloween night and my friends decided to go together with our costumes. We decided to dress as the rock band called Kiss. I was dressed as Starchild, Henry was Catman, Kenta was Spaceman, and Kazu was excited to be Demon. We got lots of candy with these costumes and we wanted to get as much as we could.
Takato and his friends dressed up like the hottest rock band and they got lots of candy because of that. It was looking like it was going to be a good Halloween to them.
"We got bags full of candy and it was starting to get hard to carry all of it. It was also getting late, but Kazu insisted we go until our bags can't hold anymore. The costumes seemed like a great idea, but I was starting to think we were getting too much candy. Some of the houses were calling it a night anyway so we would have to call it ourselves soon."
The boys scored big candy with their group costume, but it was becoming a hassle to carry so much of it. Since of the houses were calling it a night, there wasn't much more they could do.
"We tried scoring a couple more houses and we soon saw one that still had the lights on with a bucket placed out on the porch for us to take the candy. Henry was the first one to go up to the bucket, but there was no candy inside. We were just going to leave until we heard someone knocking on the window."
After arriving at the next house and saw there was no candy, the boys were just going to leave. However, someone inside the house knocked on the window and that got them to stop.
"Outside came a man that appeared to be balding and was in his late forties."
A man like how Takato described came out. He seemed like an ordinary man.
"Sorry about the empty bucket. Come on inside and I'll get you your candy."
"That's what he offered, but the four of us were smart enough not to go inside. Something about this just didn't seem right."
"No thank you. We'll wait right here." Takato said as they used their better judgement.
"Nonsense. Just come inside where it's warmer." The man offered again, but they didn't like the looks of this.
"That's okay. We should get going anyway." Henry said and the four of them just walked out of there.
"We walked away from the house after that. We skipped the next couple houses as we just wanted to get away from that house. There was just something off about it. We decided to call it a knight there and just head straight home. I would have wanted it to end there, but it didn't."
Listening to their heads and with a good sense of judgement, the boys just walked away from the house.
"Kazu's house was the closest, so the four of us decided just to go straight there. We just kept walking until Kenta heard some sort of noise coming from behind us."
"Did you guys hear that? It sounded like rustling from right behind us." Kenta said as he looked around and didn't see anything. Neither did any of the others.
"It was probably just a harmless animal or something." Henry said.
"We all just thought it was something rational because that's what people usually do in those situations. I put my arm behind Kenta and got him to just keep walking. The four of us took a few more steps, but I heard the rustling myself this time."
All of them were on their way despite what Kenta heard. They thought it was nothing and just kept moving, but Takato heard the same sound.
"I took a look behind us and I could barely see a figure behind us and was trying to hide. Someone really was following us. I alerted the others and they saw it as well. It was too dark for us to see anything, so we couldn't see who that person was. Still, someone was following us and we did the only thing we could: run."
The four of them realized that someone really was following them and ran as fast as they could.
"We all ran straight to Kazu's house, but I could hear the faint footsteps of that person following after us. None of us looked back so we wouldn't slow down. We soon reached Kazu's house and we went in straight through the back. Once all four of us made it inside, Kazu quickly shut the door and we all moved quickly to lock the front. We didn't turn on the lights so that whoever was following us wouldn't see where we were hiding."
All four of them as fast as they could and soon arrived at Kazu's house. Once they were in there, they locked up the doors and tried to keep themselves hidden.
"The four of us tried to stay hidden and quiet, but we could hear someone trying to get the back door open. We were afraid this guy would try to bust it down. Then, it just stopped and we could hear the front door was unlocking and it opened up. We all screamed until we saw the lights come on and saw it was just Kazu's mom."
The four of them feared what might happened, especially when they heard someone trying to get the back door opened. When they heard the front door open, they thought they were in real danger until they saw it was just Kazu's mother.
"What are you boys doing?" Kazu's mother asked.
"Sorry, Mom." Kazu said.
"We all assumed that the person was actually Kazu's mother just having some Halloween fun of her own and thought it was over. We all had enough Halloween fun, so we each called our parents to come get us and headed home."
...
Takato
"Just as I was about to go to bed, I got a message from Kazu."
Takato finally managed to get home and thought the excitement was over, but he was wrong when he saw that Kazu messaged him.
"It wasn't my mom."
"What do you mean?" Takato messaged back.
"She was never in the back, only the front."
"My heart felt like it skipped a beat from fear."
The two of them messaged each other about what happened earlier and Takato was a little freaked.
"Kazu said that it wasn't his mother at the back, but that meant someone actually chased after us. Kazu told his parents what happened. His father checked around the back of the house, but didn't find anyone. His mom called the police about what happened. When they showed up, Kazu told them what happened, but it was too dark to get a good look at the guy and we were more focused on running for our lives. Kazu did tell them about the man we saw earlier. The police went to investigate, but he was already gone. I don't know if the two incidents really are related, but I just have this feeling that man from that house had something to do with what happened to us. None of us knew who he was or what he really wanted, but if he really did have anything to do with that, I hope we never run into him again."
