The next morning, Harry, Daphne, and Hermione are engrossed in their studies in the Great Hall before classes begin. Their concentration breaks when a trembling girl approaches them. As they look up, they see that it's Tracey Davis, a childhood friend of Daphne.
Tracey: (panicking) "Harry, Daphne, Hermione, you have to help me!"
Daphne: (concerned) "Tracey, what's wrong? You look terrified."
Harry: (worried) "Yeah, Tracey, calm down. Tell us what's going on."
Concerned by Tracey's panic-stricken demeanor, they inquire about the reason behind her distress. With trembling lips, Tracey reveals that she has stumbled upon something ominous in the Third-floor corridor while trying to escape from Pansy Parkinson and Millicent Bulstrode, who are attempting to bully her. She describes encountering a massive three-headed dog guarding a locked door.
Tracey: (anxious) "I can't believe my eyes! It's this enormous dog with three heads, and it's guarding a door. I think I'm going to be torn to pieces!"
Hermione: (curious) "A three-headed dog? That's highly unusual. But what's it guarding, Tracey?"
Daphne: (thoughtful) "Yeah, and why is it here at Hogwarts?"
Harry: (serious) "This sounds really strange. We need to find out more about this."
Left with this mysterious revelation, Harry and his friends make their way through the day's classes, their thoughts returning again and again to the enigmatic dog and locked door on the third floor.
As the time for their detention approaches, they meet with Hagrid and his loyal dog, Fang, near the Forbidden Forest. The students and the groundskeeper, with Fang bounding ahead, venture into the depths of the forest as their detention task.
Hagrid: (gruff) "Alright, follow me, but stick close. The forest can be dangerous."
Once they reach their destination, they decide to split up to collect the ingredients needed for the potion class, which is their assigned task for the evening. Hermione accompanies Hagrid, heading in one direction, while Harry and Daphne venture into the forest with Fang.
Daphne: (whispering) "Harry, keep an eye out for the ingredients. We need to be quick."
Harry: (nodding) "Right, let's find them and get out of here."
Their search for potion ingredients is interrupted by a haunting, pained cry nearby. When they investigate the source of the sound, they stumble upon the lifeless body of a baby unicorn.
Harry: (horrified) "Oh no, this is terrible!"
Daphne: (sad) "Who would do such a thing? This is pure evil."
Shaken by the grim discovery, they are suddenly attacked by a figure shrouded in a black cloak.
Cloaked Figure: (menacing) "You shouldn't have come here."
Harry and Daphne act swiftly, casting spells and curses toward the cloaked assailant.
Harry: (defiant) "Stay back!"
Daphne: (determined) "We won't let you harm us or the unicorns!"
The figure attempts another attack but hesitates upon hearing the approach of more footsteps. With a menacing glance, it flees the scene, leaving Harry and Daphne shaken.
Harry: (breathing heavily) "What was that? What did it want?"
Daphne: (nervous) "I don't know, Harry, but we need to get out of here."
To their relief, two centaurs named Firenze and another arrive at the scene. Firenze warns them about a malevolent presence in the forest and urges them to leave immediately.
Firenze: (wise) "You should not linger here. The forest holds dark secrets."
When Harry inquires about the unicorn's body, Firenze reveals that someone is using unicorn blood to prolong their life, but it comes at a great cost, as the blood curses the drinker when taken unwillingly.
Firenze: (solemn) "Unicorn blood is powerful and heals a person. The one who drinks it lives longer but his soul gets cursed when it was taken unwillingly."
After cautioning them to avoid the Forbidden Forest in the future, Firenze and the other centaur leave the scene, leaving Harry and Daphne to contemplate the disturbing events.
Rejoining Hagrid and Hermione, they recount the events in the forest, including their encounter with the cloaked figure and the grim discovery of the unicorn. Hagrid listens with growing concern, recognizing the seriousness of the situation.
Hagrid: (worried) "This ain't good, not good at all."
On their way back to the castle, Harry, Daphne, and Hermione can't help but ask Hagrid about the three-headed dog guarding the Third-floor corridor.
Hermione: (anxious) "Hagrid, have you heard about the three-headed dog on the third-floor corridor?"
Hagrid: (Surprised) "Oh, you've heard about Fluffy, have ya?"
Hermione: "Fluffy? That's its name? What's he doing here, guarding the corridor?"
Hagrid: (hesitant) "somethin' that Professor Dumbledore wants to keep safe. But I shouldn't have said that. Just forget it, alright?"
Hermione: (curious) "Hagrid, you mentioned something about Fluffy guarding a door. What's behind that door?"
Hagrid: (Sighs) "Well, Hermione, it's a matter between the Headmaster and Nicholas Flamel."
Hagrid's eyes widen as he realizes what he has just revealed, and he quickly covers his mouth with his hand.
Hagrid: (panicked) "Oh, I shouldn't have said that! Forget I mentioned it! Please, don't go pokin' around there!"
As they approach the Ravenclaw common room, the three friends are left with more questions than answers.
Harry: (determined) "We can't just forget it, guys. There's something big going on here, and we need to find out what it is."
Daphne: (resolute) "Agreed, Harry. We won't rest until we uncover the truth."
Hermione: (intellectual) "Let's start researching and investigating. There's a lot we don't know about Hogwarts and its secrets."
Their first year at Hogwarts takes an unexpected turn, filled with challenges, secrets, and dangers they never anticipate. But together, they are determined to face whatever lies ahead, unraveling the mysteries of the wizarding world one step at a time.
