"My name is Cody. I feel really weird doing this, but it might help me deal with something that makes no sense to me."

"This happened when I was a child. I was just focusing on my homework when I overheard something between my mother and grandfather. They sounded rather upset. I heard my mother mention something, but I had no idea what she was even talking about."

"Not again. I can't believe this is happening again." Cody's mother said as she sounded really scared. That was when both of them noticed Cody. "Cody, listen. You might see something that seems really strange. If you do, be considerate and don't say anything about how it looks."

Cody could tell his mother and grandfather were upset about something, but Cody didn't understand it. His mother didn't say anything about what he was suppose to be careful of, but the look on her face said she was greatly worried.

"I didn't understand, but I could tell my mother was really scared and worried. The only thing I could do was just listen to her."

...

The Next Day

"Some time later, I met up with some of my friends at the park. Some of them wanted me to show them how to do some kendo and I was happy to show them. As we were practicing, one of my friends had their kendo stick slip out of their hand and it threw off. It flew through the air and it looked like it landed near a person."

Cody was at the park with his friends from school and showed him some kendo. As they were practicing, one of his friends had their kendo swords fly out of their hands and it appeared to land near someone.

"Sorry about that!" Cody said as he and his buddies went to get it back.

"We went to get it back and apologize to the guy, but that was when we saw something very strange. The guy was dressed in a purple suit and hat, but the weird thing was that he was made of balloons. It looked just like a person, but he was made out of balloons like he was one giant balloon animal."

Seeing this man was made out of balloons was really strange. None of them knew what to think of this.

"I was thinking of just leaving it alone, but Hector thought differently."

"This is what our parents were so worried about? This is what they were so scared of? Look at this thing. It's so weird and dumb." Hector said and even poked at it.

"It did seem rather weird. Why would our parents be worried about something like this? Then, I thought about my mother's face. She did seem rather scared and worried about something and there had to have been a reason for it. I usually do what I'm asked anyway. Hector...was a different story."

"Hector, let's just leave it alone. It's not ours to mess with in the first place." Cody said.

"You are such a boy scout, Cody. It's just a dumb balloon statue." Hector said.

"It doesn't matter. We shouldn't be bothering it. Let's just go." Cody said as he practically dragged Hector out of there.

Listening to his mother, Cody knew that he should have just left it alone. Being a good boy, he listened and his friends followed. There's a reason parents tell you not to do things.

...

Later

"Later that night, I was awoken by the sound of a woman screaming. I wasn't the only one either. The whole neighborhood was waking up to that woman screaming, and it sounded like she needed help. That woman was actually Hector's mom."

Cody suddenly found himself waking up in the middle of the night as everyone could hear someone screaming. Cody and many others came running out to see what was going on with Cody surprised it was Hector's mother.

"She appeared to be holding something and she was begging and pleading for someone to help. To my surprise, she was holding another balloon figure...and it was designed just like Hector."

Cody couldn't believe his eyes. As his mother was pleading for someone to help her, Cody could see her holding a balloon figure that looked just like his friend. How could that even be possible?

"Hector's mother seemed really upset...like she was begging for some sort of miracle. Does this have something to do with what our parents were trying to warn us about? Where did that thing even come from, and where's the real Hector? I looked around to see what anyone would do. They all looked scared and upset, but no one would help her. I would have, but I didn't even understand what was going on."

Whatever was happening was really freaky. Cody couldn't make any sense of it. Why does everyone seem scared? Where's the real Hector? Why wouldn't anyone do anything to help the lady?

"Hector's mother tightened her grip on the balloon figure that looked like her son, but she held it too tight. All the balloons burst like they were water balloons, but it wasn't water that burst out... It was blood."

As the mother was scared and freaked about whatever that thing was, she ended up holding too tight. The whole thing burst and blood splatter. It was almost like an actual person burst like they were one of those balloons. Needless to say, the mother was so shocked that she couldn't move or anything. She just kneeled in the puddle of blood like something so important to her was gone forever. Is really all because Hector didn't listen to his mother?

"We never saw Hector again after that."
