Lieutenant Adventures Season 17, Chapter 15, 4 October 2023. The Unseen Threat.
16th Lieutenant: My fourteen point fifth incarnation was an accident, he completely was not supposed to exist but, as the older folk amongst you know, the older you get, the more things stop working they way they should.
This chapter takes us on a captivating journey into the mysterious life of my 14.5th incarnation. In this chapter, I recount the peculiar tale of my unexpected transformation and unwitting creation of the legendary creature known as Bigfoot.
As I reflect on the fragmented memories of my 14.5th incarnation, I delve into the moment when I found myself mistakenly perceived as a monstrous being by onlookers in the forest. Their distant gazes filled with fear and curiosity contributed to the birth of the Bigfoot legend, forever intertwining this incarnation's identity with this mythical creature.
My recollections of this midway incarnation are rather vague, leaving us with more questions than answers. I can only offer glimpses of the adventures I might have embarked upon during this enigmatic phase, as my memories remain shrouded in mystery.
During this chapter, I explore the themes of identity and perception. My presence as the misunderstood figure in the forest challenges the boundaries between reality and myth, leaving us to ponder the power of folklore and the impact of misconceptions.
Prepare to be captivated by the enigma that surrounds this transformation, and to discover the hidden depths of my journey as I unwittingly become a catalyst for the legend of Bigfoot.
14.5th Lieutenant: The Lieutenant wandered through the woods he had crash landed in. He was caught at a regeneration crossroad. His brain had not fully made it to whatever stage through his regeneration he was at and so his memories virtually did not exist. He did not know who he was, where he had come from or where he was going to. He just knew that he was. He wasn't sure if he could hear something nearby or not.
Some distance away, there were a group of survival campers, who had set up camp and were preparing their dinner for the evening. It was twilight.
Unknown to him, the Lieutenant had stood on a few twigs which had made a loud, collective snap. He completely missed it. He didn't know he had stood on anything and he didn't know anything had made a noise.
The campers didn't miss it. They stopped what they were doing to listen but not hearing anything further, they resumed their cooking.
It happened again. As before, the Lieutenant completely missed it.
The campers stopped again to listen, turning to look, nervously, in the direction the sounds had come from. There was something walking through the woods, they briefly saw it, a big, dark shape, an abnormal, non-human height.
'What's that?' whispered one of the campers, pointing in the Lieutenant's direction.
The Lieutenant bashed into a tree. He didn't even see that he was heading for it. He almost bounced off it and changed direction, heading straight for the camp.
'It's coming this way!' whispered another camper.
'Is it a bear?' asked another camper again.
'It can't be a bear, it's far too tall,' said yet another camper.
'Then what is it?' hissed the original one to speak.
'Your guess is as good as mine,' hissed yet another camper.
The Lieutenant stopped, staring straight into the camp. He wasn't quite at them but he was near enough. He had a brief moment where his brain did detect people and he had this thought where he was reluctant to proceed. He attempted to speak and introduce himself to the campers whilst he was having a sharpish moment but no sound came out. Unfortunately, the speech hadn't made it either.
The campers watched the Lieutenant for a moment, unsure what to do.
The Lieutenant turned back the way he had come, memories, once again, non-existent, and headed back the way he had come.
'He had very big feet,' said one of the campers. 'Bigfoot.'
'All of him, if it was a him, was very big, that's a silly name,' said another.
Despite their differences, they decided to go with Bigfoot. They were traumatised by what they had just experienced and packed up and went straight home and it was a long time until they had the courage to return to camping.
The Lieutenant had not intended to make anyone scared of him, he had not intended to kickstart a legend but he could not do much about it. Having another, brief, sharp moment, he remembered what direction the TARDIS was in and ran off towards it.
NEXT TIME
I am tasked with sharing the chilling account of my 15th incarnation, a notorious mass murderer known for his perverse enjoyment of taking lives. I was a man plagued by a morbid fascination with death. My killings were not driven by any noble cause or sense of justice, but rather by a sick pleasure I derived from the suffering of others.
'Attempt resurrection!'
