Title: Naruto: Dual Chronicles

Rating: T (PG-13) for violence, language, and sexual themes.

Summary: It's the story of Naruto that you all know, except one small detail: he has family. His sister joins him on his adventures and has some of her own! An adventure with a bit of romance and a lot of funny!

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto (either manga or anime!); the wonderful Masashi Kishimoto-sensei owns all rights. However, the plot and Namiko Uzumaki are mine!

Chapter 2: Meeting Konohamaru and the Teams

"Are you sure that's how you want to look for your picture?" said the photographer.

Naruto grinned brightly. "Yup! Just take the picture already!"

The photographer let out a heavy sigh and quickly took the photo.

"Thanks, old man!" said Naruto as he quickly ran away to find his sister. He was the last one to get his picture taken for his ninja registration and he couldn't wait to show her how awesome he looked!

However, Namiko was less than thrilled when she saw him. "What the heck is all over your face?" Her eyes widened as she looked the marks all over her brother's face. "Please tell me you did not take your picture looking like that!"

Naruto glared at his sister. "Of course I did! It's AWESOME!" He proudly held up his ninja registration form showing the picture of him with bright red swirls and doodles all over his face and the form read: Likes playing pranks. Loves ramen, plain or with miso.

Namiko shook her head and slapped her palm to her forehead. "You're such an idiot sometimes. Don't come crying to me if you get in trouble. Why didn't you just take a normal picture like mine?" She held up her ninja registration form.

Her picture was of her looking straight forward with a delicate smile on her lightly freckled face, her waist-length bright red hair straight down with side-swept bangs almost completely covering her Konoha hitai-ate, her bangs threatening to drop into her blue-violet eyes at any moment. Likes reading. Loves being outside.

"Boooooring…" he rolled his eyes as he heard his name being called by an older ninja. "Naruto, the Sandaime wishes to see you immediately."

"He probably wants to tell me how awesome my picture is!" He quickly ran off to see the old man.

Namiko hung her head. "He's just going to get yelled at…"

"Naruto," began the Sandaime, "take it again! You're not even wearing your hitai-ate!"

"Come on," Naruto groaned, "that picture took 3 hours to get right and I didn't want to wear it because I didn't want to damage it before the ceremony tomorrow!" Naruto folded his arms over his chest as he leaned back in the chair he was sitting in.

Suddenly, a slow creak came from the door and then a small boy with a helmet and hair sticking up came rushing into the room, "On guard, old man!" and tripped and fell flat on his face, "…ow."

Naruto just stared at the rambunctious boy, 'What is going on? Who the heck is this kid?'

The young boy jumped quickly to his feet and got in Naruto's face. "So you're the one who tripped me!"

Naruto grabbed the boy's shirt collar. "You fell over your own two feet!"

A jounin with glasses rushed through the door. "Unhand him, Naruto! That boy is the Sandaime's grandson!"

The boy narrowed his eyes at Naruto, "Go ahead, take your best shot! You're afraid to hurt me just like master four-eyes there and everyone else in the village!"

"Like I care, stupid!" Naruto said, bopping the boy on the head. He turned and left the room, but the young boy quickly followed him outside.

The young boy tried and failed miserably to be sneaky as he spied on Naruto. Naruto whirled around. "Quit following me, idiot! I can plainly see you!"

The boy grinned brightly. "I knew you'd see through my disguise! The rumors of your prowess are true! Teach me all your skills. I want to be your disciple. I really want to learn that sexy jutsu you used on my grandpa!"

Naruto agreed and they found one of the empty training grounds to practice in, "What's your problem with your gramps?"

"My name is Konohamaru, like the village. My grandpa's idea. No one ever calls me by my name though, just 'honored grandson'. It's all about who I'm related to, not who I actually am, and I hate it! Everyone will know my name though when I become Hokage!"

Naruto gave a triumphant grin. "Well, you'll have to get past me first!"

Konohamaru looked at Naruto in awe. "Can you show me that sexy jutsu now?"

The two boys practiced the raunchy jutsu for a while before Konohamaru's tutor, Ebisu, finally found them, "Honored grandson, it's time to return home."

The younger boy defiantly crossed his arms. "No way! I've got to kick the old man's butt and become Hokage first! Sexy jutsu!" Konohamaru suddenly transformed into a buxom blonde before quickly poofing back to his normal self, "Aww man, why didn't it work?"

Ebisu's eyes widened behind his glasses as he blushed, "Such a vulgar display not fit for a gentleman's eyes. I won't fall for it! Honored grandson, you're coming home with me now…"

"Shadow Clone Jutsu!" cried Naruto as twenty or so copies of himself suddenly appeared. "Sexy Jutsu!" Those twenty copies transformed into nude blondes with pigtails, and Ebisu couldn't handle it anymore, nose bleeding as he flew backwards.

Naruto grinned with confidence and dispersed the jutsu, "What did you think, Konohamaru? I call it my Harem Jutsu!"

"It's awesome! Maybe now I can defeat the old man!" Konohamaru declared excitedly.

A familiar female voice soon called out, "Onii-chan! There you are, I was looking everywhere for you. How'd your meeting with the Sandaime go?"

Naruto turned his head away from Namiko, slightly embarrassed but not wanting to admit it. "He's making me retake my photo."

Namiko smirked triumphantly. "I told you. Who's this little guy?"

Konohamaru stared at the redhead, mouth agape, before quickly snapping out of it, "Little guy? I'm going to be a great ninja and Hokage someday! You are gorgeous…will you marry me?"

Naruto smacked him over the head. "Really, idiot? That's my little sister! Namiko, Konohamaru. Konohamaru, Namiko."

Namiko glared slightly at her brother, "You didn't have to hit him! And sorry, Konohamaru-kun, I think I'm far too young to get married. Maybe when I'm 30," she said with a soft smile and a wink at the young boy.

Konohamaru straightened up and smiled brightly at her, "I'll wait for you!"

Namiko hid a giggle behind her hand. "You're adorable. Come on, Naruto, it's almost dinnertime."

The next morning, Namiko banged on Naruto's door, "Nii-chan! You're going to be late for graduation! I'm going to go ahead and head out. See you!"

Naruto quickly got up and got dressed, placing his hitai-ate proudly over his forehead. He drank some milk and ate some toast for breakfast and hurried out the door…not noticing the milk he drank had long expired…

After the graduation ceremony, all the newly promoted genin gathered in their old classroom waiting to be assigned into their new teams. Namiko sat quietly in her previously assigned seat, waiting for her brother to arrive. He always seemed to be late, while she was always 20 minutes early for everything. She was pretty sure the only reason she wasn't born first was because he wanted to see the outside world more than she did. Namiko gave a half-smile and shook her head as her brother burst into the classroom and cried out, "I have arrived!"

As Naruto sat in his seat, Shikamaru walked casually up to him, "What are you doing here? Class today is only for those who didn't fail."

Naruto proudly pointed his thumb towards his hitai-ate, "I passed! Don't you see the headband?" The lazy genius just walked away rolling his eyes.

"Can I get by you?" came a melodic voice and Naruto turned around to see Haruno Sakura, his long-time crush, standing next to him.

"Sakura!" he said with wide eyes, unmoving, with a dopey smile on his face.

Her tone of voice quickly changed, becoming brash. "Hey loser, I'm trying to get around you! Move it!"

Naruto snapped out of his stupor, following her line of sight, and saw Uchiha Sasuke, the class heartthrob. He rolled his eyes but still didn't move.

Sakura clambered over Naruto to get to Sasuke, "Good morning, Sasuke-kun, is this seat taken?" Sasuke just ignored the pink-haired girl.

"Sheesh, Haruno-chan, could you be a little nicer?" Namiko said from her seat, slightly narrowing her blue-violet eyes. Namiko was normally quiet and polite (the total opposite of her brother) but when someone picked on him, she almost always stood up against the bully.

"Hey, I asked nicely the first time," said Sakura as she shrugged.

Namiko rolled her eyes, "So that gives you the excuse to be rude?"

"Whatever…"

While Sasuke watched the exchange between the two girls with slight interest, Naruto climbed on top of the desk and glared at Sasuke. Sasuke narrowed his eyes at the blond in front of him. "What do you want?"

"What the hell is so special about you?" Naruto's glare intensified as he got even closer, almost nose to nose with Sasuke.

Suddenly, someone bumped into Naruto's back, sending him forward and right into Sasuke…and Sasuke's mouth, kissing him. The two broke apart instantaneously, spitting and gagging.

Namiko's eyes went wide, and she stifled a giggle behind her hand, "That's why you shouldn't get in people's faces, nii-chan…are you okay, Uchiha-san?"

Sasuke just kept gagging, ignoring her question while glaring kunai at Naruto, "Naruto, you are dead!"

"My mouth is poisoned!" Naruto whined as he tried to get the kiss off his mouth. He noticed Sakura staring at him with murderous intent. "Wait, Sakura, it was an accident, I swear! I don't swing that way!"

Sakura cracked her knuckles, "Naruto, you make me sick."

Several other girls were also glaring at the blond boy, but Namiko just leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes, "I'm not going to save you this time, nii-chan."

Several thumps and hits were heard as Sakura smacked Naruto around, leaving him a crumpled heap on the floor.

Iruka walked in moments later as Naruto was picking himself up and going back to his seat, "Congratulations, from this point forward you are officially full-fledged shinobi of Konoha. The next step is for you to be placed into teams of three genin and one jounin captain. Sandaime and I made the selections so that each team's abilities would be approximately equal across the members. Please stand when your name is called," Iruka started naming the teams, one by one, "…team 7: Haruno Sakura, Uzumaki Naruto…"

"…rats." Sakura hung her head.

"Woo-hoo!" Naruto jumped up in celebration.

Iruka continued, "…and Uchiha Sasuke."

"YES!" cried Sakura.

"Oh man…" whined Naruto, "Iruka-sensei, why would you put an awesome shinobi like me with that loser?"

Iruka sighed, "Sasuke has the best grades in the class, and you, Naruto, have the worst. If the idea is to balance the teams, we had no choice but to pair you two together."

Sasuke considered what Iruka had said for a moment before snidely remarking, "Just don't drag me down, dobe."

Naruto snapped to Sasuke, "What did you just call me?"

"Dobe. Dead last," repeated the Uchiha.

"On team 8," continued Iruka, "Hyuuga Hinata, Inuzuka Kiba, and Uzumaki Namiko." The three new teammates stood: Kiba with a large grin due to being put on team with two girls, Hinata looking anywhere but at her teammates, and Namiko looking excited but anxious.

Iruka continued to announce the teams until all the students had been placed, "Okay, this afternoon you'll meet your jounin sensei, until then, take a break for lunch."

Everyone hurriedly left the room to grab their lunches, though Naruto hung back for a bit, pouting at his desk. Namiko walked over to her brother. "What's wrong nii-chan?"

Naruto let out a long groan, "Damn, why did Sasuke have to be on my team and ruin my time with Sakura?"

"He's not that bad, just kind of quiet and serious," Namiko said with a shrug, "I'm going to go eat by the tree outside, want to join me?"

"Nah, I'm gonna go blow off some steam."

"Suit yourself, just don't be late to meet your new sensei!" Namiko said as she waved to her brother, heading out the door.

Naruto decided to go up on the roof of the academy to figure out how to work out his little "Sasuke problem". "There's got to be a solution to this…hmmm… I've got it!" Naruto leapt off the roof to carry out his plan…

Naruto had decided to catch Sasuke off-guard and then use a transformation jutsu to turn into Sasuke so he could get some alone time with Sakura. He spotted her sitting on a bench, 'This is my chance!' he thought as he approached her.

"Sakura, your forehead is so wide and charming, it makes me want to kiss it," Naruto froze for a split second as he thought, 'Sasuke wouldn't talk like that, uh…how do I cover this?' He sat next to her on the bench, "That's probably what Naruto would say. Let me ask you something: Naruto, what do you think of him?"

Sakura took a deep breath before answering, "He knows my feelings and tries to get in the way. He doesn't understand one single thing about me. He's just annoying. All I want is you to accept me, Sasuke."

Naruto stared at her. "You just want me to accept you?"

She nodded and leaned close to 'Sasuke'. "That's all I want."

Naruto realized she was trying to kiss him and just as he was about to put 'his' lips on hers, his stomach decided to finally act upon that expired milk he drank that morning. Not wanting to embarrass himself or lose the transformation, he bolted away from Sakura as fast as he could.

Sakura blushed. "Maybe he just needs a few moments to collect himself. I never thought he'd be so shy!"

Namiko sat at the base of her and Naruto's favorite tree, the one with the swing. She had still held hope that she would've been on Naruto's team with him. They only had each other growing up as orphans; they never knew who their parents were and probably never would.

Could she really handle being without her big brother for possibly months at a time? I mean, they knew that missions could be long term once they were real shinobi, but she'd always assumed they'd be on the same team.

A quiet voice interrupted her thoughts. "Na-Namiko-chan?" She looked up from her seat at the base of the tree to find a girl with short blue hair and lavender eyes looking at her timidly. Namiko smiled softly at her, "Hyuuga-chan, right?" The girl nodded shyly and sat next to her.

"We've never really talked before but I guess we'll be getting to know each other a lot more soon," said Namiko, putting away her lunch, "Do you know Inuzuka-san?"

"I've t-t-talked to him one-once or twice, he's nice," said the girl. "And please, you don't have to be so formal since we'll be teammates."

"Sorry," Namiko said, hiding her face a little, "where Naruto tends to be brash, I err on the side of caution and tend to be overly formal when speaking to people. I hate conflict and rudeness."

Hinata blushed heavily at Naruto's name. "Na-Na-Naruto-kun isn't rude at all; I think he's very kind and friendly."

Namiko didn't miss the heavy blush staining her new teammate's cheeks at the mention of her brother's name. Namiko may have not talked to her classmates much (unless spoken to first), but she observed everyone intently. She knew by watching the Hyuuga princess carefully that she was extremely quiet, had a habit of stuttering when she was nervous, and that she liked Naruto…a LOT. Namiko didn't really like to poke her nose in other people's business, so she chose to not bring it up.

"Okay, maybe not outright rude, but he says what he thinks without actually thinking it through, and definitely steps on a lot of toes," Namiko sighed, "So I guess I overcompensate for him. However, he won't have me on his team playing damage control. He's on his own now."

Namiko glanced at the clock outside of the academy. "Our lunch break is over. I better go find him; he never pays attention to the time."

Hinata nodded once. "I wonder who our sensei will be?"

Namiko shrugged and started to run off in the direction she suspected Naruto was. "I guess we'll find out soon! I'll see you in a bit!"

A few minutes later (while Naruto was stuck in the bathroom), Sasuke escaped from the ropes that Naruto had tied him up in and he decided to go looking for the blond menace. He saw Sakura on the bench and walked up to her. "Break is almost over. Where's Naruto?"

"There you go, changing the subject. Anyways, why are you looking for him? Naruto just picks fights with you," Sakura started, "You know why he's so annoying? It's because he was badly brought up. He doesn't have to answer to anyone and it's made him completely selfish! If I acted the way he did, I'd get scolded by my parents and grounded for a month. Don't you just envy being like him, not having anyone to tell you what to do? Kids without parents always grow up selfish! He's all alone!"

Sasuke narrowed his eyes at her. "Alone. Isolated. It's not about your parents scolding you. You have no idea what it means to be alone. You make me sick…"

Sakura sat back down on the bench, embarrassed and at a loss for words. With that, Sasuke turned and walked away from her.

Just a few feet down the path, he saw Namiko off to the side, looking slightly embarrassed. "Sorry, I wasn't trying to eavesdrop or anything. I was just looking for Naruto."

Sasuke shrugged lightly. "I was looking for him too," he paused, "You heard all that?"

Namiko nodded, "I know it probably does suck to her and others that we have 'freedom' to do what we want, but it's not really freedom at all and it's only made our lives more difficult! Growing up an orphan either makes you more childish or more grown up for your age. My brother still acts like a selfish six-year-old and I probably act like I'm thirty-two instead of twelve. You act older than twelve like me, thanks to your childhood as well. Just ignore her dumb words, she has no idea what it's like," Namiko suddenly froze, "I'm so sorry, Uchiha-san, I tend to ramble when I get upset abou-"

"Sasuke," he said cutting off her rant, giving a small smirk when she looked confused and further explained, "we're the same age. Stop acting like you actually are thirty-two and don't be so formal. Sasuke is just fine."

Namiko blinked a couple times, then lightly blushed in embarrassment. "Hinata-chan told me the same thing. I'm so used to covering up for Naruto that I tend to be over-polite. Speaking of my brother," she continued as they kept walking, "why are you looking for him?"

"He decided to ambush me and tie me up while he used transformation jutsu to look like me and go after Sakura," Sasuke said rolling his eyes.

Namiko face-palmed and groaned. "I really wish he'd put his smart moments to use for good instead of causing chaos. You have my permission to punish him as you see fit," she giggled.

As they walked down the hallway near the bathroom, Naruto came out finally and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Sasuke, "Multi-shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Sasuke sighed, "Not this again…"

But before Naruto's clones could pounce, his stomach lurched. Eyes widening, the clones and Naruto all rushed to the bathroom at once, fighting to get inside.

Namiko burst out laughing, "Nii-chan, just release the jutsu then go to the bathroom!"

"Right!" he shouted before quickly releasing the jutsu and rushing back into the bathroom, where some interesting sounds could be heard through the door.

"He really is a moron," said Sasuke, shaking his head.

"And I'm lucky enough to call that moron my brother," Namiko said with a tinge of sarcasm, trying to catch her breath from laughing so hard, and then turning to leave. "Anyways, I need to head back to meet my team. See you later…" pausing for a moment, turning back to him with a wide smile, "Sasuke."

Sasuke was left standing next to the bathroom as he watched the redhead leave, 'She is nothing like her brother. She's…' his train of thought cut off by the bathroom door opening again.

Naruto let out a big breath. "I'm never drinking milk again. Come on, Sasuke or we're gonna be late meeting our sensei!" Naruto walked past Sasuke, "You coming?"

Sasuke snapping out of his reverie, he replied, "Of course, dobe, I was waiting on you."

A/N: Chapter 2 done! I decided to post it a little early to help clear up some questions that someone pointed out about why it seems like Namiko is treated differently than Naruto. I'll dive WAY deeper into that in a few chapters from now, and it'll come up throughout the story. Thank you all for reading and I really do thrive off reviews; if you have questions you want answered, feel free to ask!
