Chapter 5: Do Boys Normally Hallucinate?
Gabriella
All of us walked up to Evan and listened intently to his plan.
"Okay, Kris and Lewis, you guys are going to take everything out of the boxes and put them on the table," he started. Kris and Lewis nodded and started doing what they were instructed to do. "Gabriella and I will sort everything into separate piles," Evan continued, and I nodded. "So, Nick and Luke, you guys are in charge of putting everything away," he added. The rest of us heading off to do our jobs immediately.
Evan and I started sorting things that everyone else had already put on the giant table. We made great time, separating things and adding to the piles. We were practically running and throwing things into their piles. Within about an hour we had finished half of the storage closet. We were getting slower since we had been working so hard.
I pulled out my phone and cursed when I saw that it was 6:30. We've been at this for 3 hours.
Another hour passed and we finished. We were all panting from how hard we had worked. But for some reason we all bursted into laughter.
"We're finally done!" Nick exclaimed.
"Thank fucking god," Luke laughed.
"To be completely honest, that was kind of fun," I replied. Evan just smiled at me and met my eyes with his forest green one.
"It was," he said.
"It wasn't bad," Kris spoke up. "Still would have rather been at home though," she added. I laughed and rolled my eyes. Of course she would.
"We should get home," Lewis blurted out.
"Yeah, I guess," I replied. But, I was just so content staying here with Evan. There was something about him that just felt amazing.
"We should walk home," Kris suggested.
"Sure," I replied. I will just pick my car up tomorrow. The six of us walked out of the science lab and down the hall. I pulled out my phone and saw that I had no messages from my Dad, which I thought was strange because I had been gone for so long. But, then I remembered that I told him a week ago that I was sleeping over at Kris's house tonight. The six of us walked down the hallway talking about what superhero was better.
"Captain America, a hundred percent!" Lewis yelled at Nick.
"Nope. Iron Man is way better!" Nick countered.
"Sorry, Nick. But I personally like Steve," Luke replied.
"Thank you!" Lewis practically screamed.
"How dare you!" Nick gasped.
"I'm on your side, Nick. Tony's better," Evan added.
"Thank you!" Nick practically yelled. "Finally one loyal friend!" He exclaimed, giving Luke the death stare. We finally reached the front doors of the school and we swung them open and started walking on the sidewalk to our houses. Apparently we were all going the same way.
"What are you guys talking about?! Steve sucks! Tony is way better!" Kris added to the conversation.
Personally I really didn't know what they were talking about, but I just laughed because it was funny to hear them fight so passionately about something so stupid.
"Really, Nicky? The third grade insult?" Luke laughed. "Finally one loyal friend!" Luke mocked, making his voice lower to mimic Nick's voice. "Tony's just a man in a tin suit. Steve actually has powers," Luke countered.
"Exactly!" Lewis agreed. "It's not fair that you guys think that Tony is better than Steve," he added.
"You know what's not fair? That Steve and Bucky teamed up on Tony!" Evan yelled.
"Oh my god, don't get me started about-" Lewis yelled, but he got cut off by Nick.
"Do you guys hear that?" Nick questioned.
"No?" I said in a confused tone.
"Are you sure? Listen. Does anyone hear it?" he asked again.
"No, dude. You're losing it," Lewis added. I watched as Evan put his hand on Nick's shoulder.
"Nick, what do you hear?" Evan whispered. I wouldn't have even caught it if I wasn't standing right next to Evan.
"I-I-" he started, cutting himself off. All of us stopped walking and looked at the boy with bright blue eyes with confused expressions. Nick started walking forwards as if he was stuck in a trance.
"Nick-" Evan started.
"Shut up!" Nick snapped at him.
"Nick, dude. You're scaring us," Luke stated, worry seeping into his normally cheerful voice. This is the first time I have seen him being completely serious, since I've met him.
"What the fuck is happening?" I questioned in my head.
"Fuck off!" the brunette yelled at Luke.
"E-Evan what's going on?" I asked.
"I-I don't know," he stuttered frantically, clearly trying to figure out something to do. If he was going to do something he needed to do something quickly.
Nick kept walking forwards like he was on a tightrope, that he could never turn back. I quickly ran over to him, disregarding the yells from Evan and Luke not to go near him. Nick was whispering something underneath his breath.
"Blood. Death. Rip. Kill," he whispered over and over again. I started to walk away from him, back to Kris and Lewis. But, I turned back. Something in me, deep down, told me I needed to fix this. I went back to the chanting brunette and hesitantly put my hand on his shoulder. Nick whipped his head around to face me, and his eyes widened in fear.
"W-what the hell just happened?" he questioned, sounding normal again.
"I don't know," I responded, meeting his icy blue eyes with my chocolate brown pair. "Are you okay?" I asked.
"Y-yeah," he stuttered, looking like he was in deep thought. I backed away from Nick cautiously, hiding in between Kris and Lewis. I saw Evan approach Nick with his hands out.
"Nick-" he started.
"Evan, I wasn't here," Nick stated, cutting Evan off.
"What do you mean?" Evan asked in a confused tone, but worry was seeping into his voice extremely quickly.
"I was over there," Nick explained, pointing a long way behind us.
"What the fuck?" I heard Kris whisper beside me.
"Let's get the hell out of here," Lewis told Kris and I quietly.
"Well, we should probably get going," I said in a terrified tone, just loud enough for the three other boys to hear. They weren't listening so Kris, Lewis, and I decided to leave anyway. We walked quickly down the sidewalk, past the 3 boys. We sped walked all the way to Kris's house. When we got to Kris's house we walked to the front.
"Guys! Over here!" Kris hissed. Lewis and I followed Kris as she walked behind her house, and up to a window. She opened the window and climbed through. Lewis and I followed her. Lewis practically fell through the window, knocking down all of the stuff on Kris's window sill.
"Sorry!" Lewis whispered.
"Just get in here, idiot!" Kris snapped back quietly.
He dropped down from the window sill and I climbed in after him. I did this with high level grace. I dropped down and Kris closed the window quickly. The three of us then burst into laughter. This was a night out of a literal dream. Or a nightmare? I wasn't quite sure. We laughed for a while until Kris spoke again.
"What the hell was wrong with that brunette guy?" she said.
"Nick?" Lewis questioned.
"No, the blonde one," she said in a very sarcastic voice. "Obviously Nick," Kris added, hitting herself in the forehead with the side of her fist.
"Haha, very funny," Lewis replied, rolling his eyes.
"Seriously though," Kris stated, looking her ocean blue eyes straight at me.
"I have no idea what happened to Nick," I said. I quietly pondered telling them about what he had said under his breath, about blood and death. But I decided against the idea when I saw how white Lewis was.
"S-somethings seriously wrong with those guys," Lewis stuttered.
"I agree," Kris replied.
"I don't," I blurted out.
"What do you mean?" Kris questioned. "Since we met them, weird things have started happening. Like, that Nick thing. I think the other two have something to do with it," she added.
"I don't think so," I responded. "Evan looked really worried when that thing happened to Nick. It looked like he was just as confused as we were," I explained.
"Maybe," Lewis said. "But I still think there is something weird about them," he stated.
"This is seriously the worst sleepover ever," Kris laughed, changing the subject a little bit.
"Let's make it better then," I smirked. Kris smiled evilly too.
"Oh no. What are you two planning?" Lewis questioned, trying to sound scared but he really sounded excited.
"Grab the stuff, Gabriella," Kris smiled.
"I thought you'd never ask," I replied, walking out of the room quietly. I then went into the bathroom near Kris's room and grabbed a large wooden box. I then crept back to Kris's bedroom. When I got back I saw Lewis and Kris were now sitting on the floor, near her bed.
"What is that?" Lewis questioned, running his hand through his dark brown hair.
"Nail polish," I replied. "We are going to paint your nails,"
"Fuck no!" Lewis practically yelled, scrambling away from me. But, Kris had my back. She leaped at Lewis and held him by the neck in a chokehold. "No! Help me!" he struggled against Kris's hold on him. But to his demise Kris is stronger than him.
"Shut the hell up and surrender," she smiled, trying to blow her curly black hair out of her eyes, but only ended up making it worse.
"Never!" he countered, fixing his glasses.
"Okay then," she replied, tightening her hold on his neck. Lewis started clawing at her arm. And I laughed watching the hilarious scene.
"Okay, okay, fine! I give up! You can paint my nails!" Lewis wheezed out.
"Good," Kris laughed, letting Lewis go. I walked over to Kris and sat down next to her.
"Okay, what color?" I questioned, taking in the wide variety of colored nail polish. Kris bit her lip, and pushed her curly black hair behind her ear. Her ocean blue eyes scanned over all the different colors until she found the one that she liked.
"This one!" she exclaimed, pulling out a bottle of hot pink nail polish.
"Nope! No way in hell! I would rather die!" Lewis practically yelled, getting to his feet quickly. Kris jumped to her feet as well and wrestled him down to the ground.
The fight went on for a bit until Kris got Lewis contained and we painted his nails hot pink.
"They're beautiful!" Kris exclaimed, looking at the just dried nails.
"I hate you guys," Lewis spat, looking down at his nails in disgust.
"We know," I grinned, giving Kris a high-five. Lewis just rolled his eyes.
"Now what do you guys want to do?" he questioned, changing the subject.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" I suggested.
"Sure," Lewis and Kris agreed in unison. They looked at each other for a second before they burst out laughing. The three of us sat up on Kris's bed and argued over what movie to watch.
"Let's watch the Avengers," Lewis said.
"Ugh, no. I don't want to watch that," I replied.
"What?! Why?!" Lewis practically yelled.
"I want to watch a drama," I told him.
"Well you picked last time, Gabriella," Kris spoke up. "Actually it's my turn to pick," she added.
"But I want to watch something with fighting in it!" Lewis complained.
"Okay, look," she said, flipping to a movie called 'The Karate Kid'. "It's a drama, and a comedy," Kris explained "Also it has karate," Kris told us. "Is that good enough?" she added.
"Fine," Lewis pouted.
Kris hit play on the movie and we watched it intently. But, we were all getting quite tired. The last thing I remember thinking before I fell asleep, is that I was irrational in love with Evan Richardson.
