The Heroic God Slayer
Chapter 1
I know I've done a lot of My Hero stories but that's mostly thanks to it being so prominent right now. Though this story I'm adding to it was one I watched each week for a new episode. And while the dub is hit or miss at points, I still think it wasn't bad. Also, I won't be using most of the characters from Campione. Instead, I'm making my own set and giving Izuku his own original set of authorities to fight with. Also I will just tell you all the first three chapters or so are not my best work. I just wanted to make a different path, so I had Izuku become a god slayer a different way. And lets be honest most quirks can't really stand up to the power of a Campione. So, on with the show.
(Izuku POV)
The truth is, not all men are created equal. I learned this the hard way when I was four years old. In the world we live in, superhuman powers called quirks are the norm. With 80% of the population having them. But I was one of the rare few. The 20% born with no special powers. And for the rest of my life, everyone told me I could never achieve my dream. I had always wanted to be a hero that could save others.
And my main inspiration was All Might. Until I saw that what had become of the man in question. Broken and emaciated due to an injury, he kept fighting and saving people despite it. But then he said the thing that all but broke me at 14 years old. "I don't think you can be a hero without a quirk. It's good to dream young man. But you need to be realistic."
That was the last thing he said to me before he walked down the stairs. I walked away later, thinking back on what so many people had said. The fact that it wasn't possible. But I still have to try. Even if no one else believes in it maybe I can do something else. After I get home, my mom runs up to me and is crying. "Izuku. I'm sorry…." "What are you talking about?" I ask confused. With tears still in her eyes, she escorts me into the living room, and I see it.
On the TV is a report of a villain battle that had occurred. A middle school boy had been taken hostage, and the heroes had no idea what to do. The video was rough, but I could see the victim. It was Kaachan. And he was grabbed up by the same villain that attacked me. I must have knocked the bottles that All Might had trapped him in loose.
All Might eventually stepped in, but it was virtually too late. Kaachan had been taken to the hospital, but he was stuck in a coma. The video showed a later image of All Might prostrating himself before Aunt Mitsuki and Uncle Masaru. Apologizing profusely. But it isn't his fault. It was mine. I was in a bad state for a few days after, until my dad came back to see us. He wrapped me up in a hug and tried to help me snap out of it for a time.
"How about we go on a trip? The company gave me about two weeks off, and it has been too long since we went on vacation. I was thinking about a river cruise on the Yangshuo. How does that sound?" he asked at dinner. While I'm not sure this is the time for that, maybe it could help with so many things. Get me some ideas of things to do away from heroics. Maybe being a police officer wouldn't be too bad.
Once we reached the place for our cruise and set sail, I was starting to feel a little bit better. The scenic beauty helped to relax me, and there were almost no reports on heroes or villains out this way. After about the third day on the cruise, we had stopped at a village and as I was wandering around we all heard an epic crash.
As people were running away from the source, I turned and saw a strange hawk like humanoid in the sky. But then I see a girl who could likely be a local running toward the being. Is she a hero or something? But then I bump into a strange man. He is tanned and large with curly black hair. He is also looking up at the hawk like being. On his back is a hook that looks to be made of bone.
I snap out of it enough to help up some others who had fallen and to aid one man who was trying to pick up some debris that had fallen. I'm not sure why, but it seems that no one else can see the man I ran into or the hawk. "Interesting. Why did you help them little one?" the large man says after I'm sure the others are away. I'm surprised he isn't running but I still feel compelled to answer.
"I wanted to be a hero since I was young. I wanted to be the one who could save others with a smile or similar. But I've been told for years I can't. Because I don't have a quirk and…. LOOK OUT!" I start explaining, but then I see part of a building about to fall on the man. And my body moves on its own. I shove the man away, and we are both fine.
"Hmmmm. Interesting. While I also sought to help others in many ways, what that means can vary from person to person. Boy! Hold on to this for a while," the large man says, before tossing me a strange tablet. It is made of stone and seems to have a man that is chained to a rock with the sun and an eagle above him. But when I look back up the man is gone.
I then see the girl getting blasted back and I run to catch her. I manage to get there in time and catch her bridal style. "Shuí? Nǐ zài zhè lǐ gàn shén me?" "Um I don't understand you." I say to the girl. Now that I'm looking at her, she is quite pretty. I can feel an athletic and fit build under her clothes, and she had shimmering black hair and bright crimson eyes. Not to mention, as I'm trying to put my mind away from it, she has a decent bust size as well that is pushing against my chest.
"Alright I'll say that again in Japanese. Who are you? What are you still doing here?" the girl says as she stands after I set her down. I introduce myself and she does the same telling me she is Xiemei Sun. And when she notices the tablet in my hand she demands to know where I got that. "Some strange guy gave it to me. He was big and tall, with really tan skin and curly black hair," I tell her, and she decides to explain a few things to me.
"What you saw was a rouge god. That hawk being was one who had rebelled against the myths he was a part of and manifested here. Each god's presence can cause a variety of things to happen. Such as a drought from a sun god manifesting, or floods due to sea or river gods. That one though is a different kind of god. As was the one you met," Xiemei explains while we are sitting along the river. She describes another set of gods, known as heroes who manifest in different ways and cause their own set of trouble.
The one at this town was a sky hero god of Egypt named Horus. And the one I met was a Polynesian hero named Maui. "There has been a rumor amongst the magical community, that a tournament of true heroes has been taking place every few decades or so. The heroes of the old are meeting and fighting amongst themselves. Mostly because of the disgust to the so-called heroes that exist now. Most of the god find the essence of quirks disgraceful and disgusting." At hearing all of is shocking, but to an extent not overly surprising.
While most heroes now are all about quirks, none of them have to go through the same challenges as the heroes of old. The stories about what ancient heroes of myth had to do are more impressive compared to most heroes now. And the fact they respected the gods is another factor entirely. While I'm thinking about that, Xiemei turns over the tablet and notices something.
"There is writing on the back. Perhaps the location of the next tournament? Wait! If they battle in this location! I have to stop them!" she shouts, but I stop her. And then tell her I'm going with her. "That Maui person entrusted this to me. So, I'm going with you to try and stop them."
She seems confused, but I guess the determined look in my eyes is enough for her to believe in me. I had called my parents and told them I was stuck in a different shelter and may not be able to contact them for a while. While my mom was panicking, my dad just said to be careful and get back to the boat when I could.
With that done, Xeimei contacted the Nine Heavens Syndicate to get the two of us a ride to where the tournament could possibly be taking place. I don't know what I'm getting involved in. But I can't help but feel excited. And I can't stop smiling.
(No POV)
NHS responds by flying in a helicopter to move Xeimei and Izuku to the mountains where the battles might be taking place. "If the gods are fighting there, it could be disastrous. There are a few villages in the region, and worse the mouth multiple rivers are in that range. If this battle is as wide reaching as I think it could be, then not only will the villages in the mountains be affected, but so to will the ones downstream," Xeimei explains as she prepares her magic jian, and pulls out some talismans to enchant.
Izuku is wide eyed at what she is describing. He asks, "couldn't they move this tournament somewhere it wouldn't cause trouble for others?" Xeimei shakes her head before saying the gods couldn't care less. "Most rogue gods don't care for anyone but themselves and rebelling against the stories that define them. In many ways they are no different from the fools who call themselves villains now with their quirks," she says as the two land and they see a shockwave fire from the top of one of the mountains.
The young mage grits her teeth before grabbing Izuku's hand and casting a wind spell to help them fly to the arena. Already below, Izuku can see that the rubble from the battles have cause a large amount of destruction to a village nearby. He grits his teeth and resolves to stop this fight no matter what.
When they arrive, they can see a variety of different deities and heroes are gathered at the makeshift arena. Currently battling in the center are gods from Mayan, Greek, Egyptian, Chinese, Hindu, and Norse myth. There are others like Maui waiting on the side, as well as some Celtic, Roman, Slavic, African and Germanic and other mythic heroes. When Maui looks up and sees the two teens his smile widens.
"I hoped you would come boy. I see the mage is with you," Maui says after using a bit of wind to place himself next to them. The two are surprised, but Xeimei quickly asks how they can stop the battles. "If we don't then multiple lives will be lost or threatened!" "It doesn't matter to most of them. They just wish for a fight to satisfy them. But I can give you some hints for what to do," Maui says while looking at the two sideways.
Maui explains that the tournament is set up for battles between all of the pantheons across the world. And that a heroic entity from each must be chosen to represent each. "Each battle must be between the set number of pantheons for the first round. It's a free for all, and when half of the fighters are dead or down the match is over. Second round is when we get to individual fights, but there is a catch. One another person exploited a century ago. If the a few heroes are eliminated by an outsider, then the tournament is canceled."
Izuku then realizes what he meant and grips the tablet Maui gave him tighter. "What will you do boy?" "I'm going to stop them. I'm going to save as many people as I can," Izuku says with determination. Xeimei looks at him in shock, and wonders if he's gone insane. Izuku looks down and sees an interesting ability.
The hawk headed God he saw earlier seems to be wielding a glaive of some sort. But what is interesting is when he strikes a Norse looking hero, and a Chinese monkey hero, both seem to be weakened by the strike. Maui notices this and tells him a bit about the god in question. "That is Horus, the heroic hawk god of Egypt. That glaive of his allows him to deal critical blows to any god he has extensive knowledge of. It helped him in defeating the god of chaos Set. It can even break other gods' authorities, and given it is double bladed he can enchant two types at once."
Izuku nods before asking a favor from Maui. He asks Maui to give him a gift of the wind to move quickly around the arena. "I may have invited you, but what makes you think you can make demands of me?" Maui asks while raising his power a bit. Izuku just smiles before saying, "you wouldn't have given me this if you didn't want me to intervene. So why not help finish what you started?"
Xeimei looks between the two like they are crazy but is more and more intrigued by the young man who is looking to face off with the gods. Maui gives a big laugh, and grants Izuku a boost of wind to move around the arena. The green haired boy blasts down to the arena, and then kicks the Norse hero in the back of the head. Before bouncing around and kneeing the Hindu hero in the nose.
When the gods notice, a few are stunned. But one lets out a big laugh. That is the Chinese hero, Sun Wukong. "Now this is funny! This little human thinks that he can intervene in our contest? You must be very proud of that silly quirk of yours!" "Sorry to say, but I don't have one. I just know I have to stop you!" Izuku says while his knees are shaking a bit. This gets a few others to laugh a bit more. But they then admit they are impressed.
"It seems you have the true heart of a hero boy. But do not think you can defeat all of us," a massive hero with a large club says. This is the Greek hero Herakles. Izuku smiles before saying, "I just need to beat one." He then lifts up the tablet of Prometheus and fires a shot from it that blasts at Horus.
The blast knocks him back, but it also knocks away the other gods in competition. "Izuku! You shouldn't have done that! A normal human can't handle that-" "It worked though. I got the glaive," Izuku says while he stands in extreme pain with part of his body starting to break apart.
At Horus's side, his glaive disappears. Xiemei sees what Izuku was after and decides to help him more to defeat a few of the gods in the arena. She grabs Izuku's face and kisses him, pouring the knowledge of all of the heroes gathered in the arena. Once she is done, Izuku knows who to go after and calls forth the glaive.
He uses the wind Maui lent him and blows himself forward faster than Horus is ready for. He slashes with both blades and takes the head of the hawk god. While the rest are recovering from the shock, he spins the blade and again using the wind rushes at Herakles. And slices the hero in half. He turns again and uses the other blade to rush toward the Mayan hero Xbalanque and stabs the hero in the stomach.
The essences he focused on with the blade were the celestial influence as well as the avenging that Horus and Xbalanque represent on one blade. And the heroes of steel and will that Horus and Herakles represent. With that done, Izuku collapses on the ground slowly dying. Xeimei though comes to him and lets him rest on her lap.
The remains of the gods he slayed laugh a bit before congratulating him. Horus with his head on the ground says, "well done boy. It seems the heroic heart of humanity truly does still exist. Take the glaive and my wings. They will serve you well." Xbalanque chuckles himself before telling Izuku that the night will serve him well. "And my darts and stealth will aid you in stopping those who would stand before you. Good luck hero."
Herakles though is laughing the hardest as he starts to fade. "You sought to protect others not because it was a task, but because you felt it had to be done. If you intend to be a new king and perhaps a heroic one, then I pass all that I am to you boy. My strength, my endurance, my tenacity, and the competitiveness that comes with it. Take it all and refine it for yourself. For we will battle again one day!" Herakles says as his final word.
With that done the tournament is canceled, and Izuku meets someone on the other side. "Well done. You have proven that you deserve the right born of myself and Epimetheus. And now you will be reborn as my newest child," a pink-purple haired girl says to Izuku. Thought the boy doesn't understand, he does still remember the name of the girl when she introduces herself. "I am the all giving mother Pandora. And you my newest son will be reborn as a Campione."
With that Izuku reawakens later, but not at the arena. Instead, he is in a hospital bed in another city. Xeimei is there and she quickly goes over and hugs Izuku. "You are a reckless fool you know that. But that seems about right for you, my king." At hearing her say that Izuku's eyes widen. But before he can ask what she means, his parents come into the room. Xeimei has already backed off, so both can get close and hug him as much as they want. She had quietly contacted the heads of the Nine Heavens Syndicate and asked to watch over the newest of kings.
But around the world a few others have a different reaction. In Africa, a woman opens her eyes and shivers before looking east. In Rio de Janeiro a woman is playing a game of futbol with some kids, when she feels the change. She smiles before getting back to the game. In the USA, sitting up in a tree. With a cowboy hat over his eyes another feels the presence of Izuku's awakening. Pushing his hat up gently, the man smiles before saying, "so. The fourth has awakened. This could be interesting."
Yeah I'm not using the old guard from the main Campione story. You know Godou, Donnie, Vouban etc. I'm making my own, and yes, the MHA story will be involved. But I'm going to have my own set of fun with this story. It might be shorter compared to some of the others, but I still want to do it this way. Also, I went with killing off multiple gods to break away from the pattern and to give a bit more variety to Izuku's abilities. Just Herakles's abilities would have him just being All Might. But with multiple abilities he has to go more into what it means to be a Campione. Please review!
