Chapter 3

Jessie's fingers twitched. Her body hurt.

She slowly opened her eyes and glanced around. Everything around her was white.

"Well look who is finally awake?" A voice said.

Jessie slowly turned her head to see a woman dressed in blue scrubs walk over. It only took a few minutes for the human to realize this woman was a werewolf.

The memories came back to what happened. Tears filled the girl's eyes and slipped down her face. Her cousin had tried to kill her.

"Now none of that." The nurse said tutting. She handed Jessie a tissue. "Wipe those eyes. Healer Razer will be here soon to check on you. I'm nurse Suzie. I will be taking care of you while you are here. Now how about some food? I bet you are starving."

"After I give her a checkup, Nurse Suzie." A man said with a smirk.

"Good afternoon. I'm Healer Razer." The man said while pulling out a flashlight to check Jessie's eyes. "You gave us quite a scare when you got here. Luckily we were able to save you."

Healer Razer stepped back and smiled at the woman. He removed his stethoscope and placed it around his neck. "Let's sit you up so I can check your heart and lungs."

Nurse Suzie helped Jessie stay up while Healer Razer had Jessie take deep breaths and cough a few times. Laying back down, Jessie licked her lips as she tried not to cry. "What happens to me now?"

Healer Razer and Nurse Suzie glanced at each other before Healer Razer reached into his pocket pulling out otoscope. "Let me check your ears. Don't want an ear infection."

Jessie followed the healer's instructions as he checked her ears, mouth and blood pressure.

The sound of the door opened making Jessie jump. Two men walked in and Jessie shook in fear. It was obvious who these men were. One had to be the alpha and the alpha's son.

"Hello, Jessie. My name is Alpha Jasper and this is my son, Adrian. How are you feeling?" Alpha Jasper said with a blank look.

Jessie shook in fear and whispered out, "I'm fine, Alpha Jasper."

Alpha Jasper looked toward Healer Razer.

"She is on the mend. She will be a little weak for a while but should have a full recovery. I can release her tomorrow afternoon if all things go well." Healer Razer said with a smile.

Alpha Jasper nodded his head. "Good."

"Alpha?" Jessie said.

"Yes, Jessie?" Alpha jasper asked.

"What happens now?" Jessie asked with confusion and fear.

Alpha Jasper glanced at his son before walking over and taking a seat by the bed. "It's been decided that you will stay here for the foreseeable future. We will discuss your future tomorrow in my office."

Jessie's eyes widened in shock. "What about Renee and…Vivian?"

Alpha Jasper sighed. "Renee is in a rehabilitation center in Arkansas. Vivian was the mastermind behind everything that happened including the attempt to murder you. She has been sent to a rehabilitation center in Mexico."

Jessie's eyes filled with tears.

Adrian looked away in pain. He couldn't comfort her right now.

"Jessie, look at me." Alpha Jasper said with a stern voice.

Jessie slowly looked at him.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out some pictures. Jessie recognized the pictures and tensed.

Alpha Jasper sighed. "These pictures were from 2028 when we first came out of hiding. It was a different time. The war was over and so many people were dead. The rehabilitation centers are nothing like this. I don't know what other horror stories your cousins told you but I assure you that nothing is like what you were told."

Jessie's eyes lowered. She didn't know what to believe.

Alpha Jasper stood and moved toward the door. "My son, Adrian, will tell you about your new home. He will escort you to my office tomorrow."

Nurse Suzie moved forward holding two trays. "Jessie needs to eat so I picked up lunch for her and you, Adrian. Can't talk without a full stomach."

The woman placed the trays on the side tables and pushed it over for the two to eat.

"Hamburger Steak soup with vegetables. My favorite." Adrian said with a smile.

Jessie stared at it with hunger before looking away.

Adrian sighed. "You need to eat. You are malnourished and need your strength."

"How can I eat when both of my cousins are in rehabilitation centers and I still don't know why I'm being made to stay here instead of a rehabilitation center in my home state?" Jessie said sadly.

Adrian reached out and took her hand. "Why did you run? I've seen your record. You were a model student and citizen. So why?"

Jessie bit her lip before speaking. "My cousins showed me those pictures of the rehabilitation centers. There was also an old man from my town who died last year. He talked about his wife who was stolen by a wolf. She was 38 when a werewolf realized she was his mate. The werewolf was there delivering a package to the sheriff of that time. The woman refused to go with him. She was pregnant with a child from her husband and refused to leave them. The wolf threw her over his shoulder and walked away after knocking out her husband. The wolf was so angry about the pregnancy that he beat the woman until she miscarried. When she was well enough, the wolf was going to impregnate her in hopes she would forget the human man and his child. She committed suicide right before he could rape her."

Adrian sat there in shock. "What happened after that?"

Jessie raised her eyes. "The wolf lost his mind. He came and attacked the human. The old man had scares from the beasts claws up and down his body. The only thing that saved him were guards who showed up and stopped the wolf. He could never walk again."

Adrian sighed. "I'm sorry you suffered this. I promise you will not suffer that here."

Jessie glanced at him and looked away.

Adrian stared at her before a mischievous smile appeared on his face. He reached forward and filled the spoon with soup.

"Here comes the choo choo train. Choo Choo." He said moving the spoon in the air in front of Jessie.

Jessie's mouth twitched as he moved it around before stopping in front of her mouth.

"Choo Choo. The train needs to go. Open up." Adrian said with a smirk. He raised an eyebrow as the girl refused to open her mouth. "Open up or I will need to get creative to get you to eat."

He reached out and gave Jessie's side a squeeze.

Jessie squeaked in surprise before quickly opening her mouth.

Adrian slipped the food into her mouth letting the girl taste the savory soup. He placed it in her bowl and ate a spoonful from his bowl.

Jessie ate the bite. It was really good. "So, I guess you will do this again unless I eat?"

Adrian smirked with a raised eyebrow. "Yep. Are you going to eat on your own or does the Choo Choo Train need to come again?"

Jessie sighed before picking up her spoon to eat. She was really hungry and the food was very good.

Adrian smiled. "So let me tell you about your new home. You are in the pack house in North Dakota close to the capital, Bismarck."

Unknown to the two, Alpha Jasper was leaning against the outside of the Infirmary listening. He hoped his son would be able to woo his mate.

Jasper turned to walk down to his office. He needed to arrange for housing for Alpha Hernandez's unmated pack members and humans who would be attending his pack's mating ball. It was his lucky day that Alpha Hernandez was visiting with the King of the USA about bringing some of the members of his country to different parts of the USA to see if they had mates here in the USA. North Dakota was his first stop to in his tour of the USA to arrange some of his members for the Mate Balls that would be happening.

Walking into his office, Alpha Jackson saw his mate, Savannah. She glanced up worried.

"The USA king is on the phone for you." Luna Savannah said in fear.

Alpha Jackson sighed and walked over to his desk picking up the phone. "Good evening King Lincoln. What can I do for you?"

Luna Savannah listened in, shocked at the information.

"Did you get the information from the resistance fighter, Vivian?" King Lincoln asked.

"Yes your highness. We were able to get the information out of her. She was resistant but King Hernandez has a very unique method for getting people to talk. I have alerted the alphas in California, Texas, North Carolina and Alabama. She was a new member of the resistance movement so she only knew a few agents. The alphas there will capture the resistance members in their states and interrogate them." Alpha Jackson said.

"Where is the girl headed?" King Lincoln asked in concern.

Alpha Jackson sighed. "Alphas Stone, Hernandez and I decided it would be best for her to be moved secretly out of the country to a rehabilitation center in Mexico. The one she is going to is the most isolated center and deals with the most difficult cases. We didn't want her allies to know she had been captured so she is being flown there in private jets with tight security. Alpha Stone is going to take the information about the resistance in Arkansas and capture the members there including the one who recruited Vivian. We will flush the resistance out."

"Good. What about the other two? One is your son's mate, correct?" King Lincoln asked in concern.

"That is correct. Renee is being whisked to an isolated rehabilitation center in Arkansas. It's guarded so tight that no one knows who is located there. Jessie is my son's mate. She is 15 years old. We are going to do her rehabilitation here since mates can't be separated for long once found. We have it arranged so she will never be alone until we can trust her." Alpha Jasper said tensely.

The sigh of relief was heard over the phone. "Good. Very Good. If you need anything, let me know. I want this resistance stopped and the people found. The two males from the train have been interrogated and we are rounding up those through the train systems who have been named. Hopefully we will be able to destroy this cell. Have a good night Alpha."

"Have a good night, King Lincoln." Alpha Jasper said with relief.

Alpha Jasper sat down and sighed. He had been very worried about what would happen to Jessie if the king was angry. It was luck the man seemed to trust him.

Luna Savanna wrapped an arm around her mate from behind. "Do you think we will ever have complete peace?"

Alpha Jasper sighed. "No. There will always be another rebel human fraction fighting for control but we werewolves will always be there to push them back in their place on the scale. They had their chance to rule the earth and failed. It's the age of the werewolves now."

He stood and wrapped an arm around his mate. "Come, it's time you met your new daughter. The moon goddess has chosen well for our son."

The two walked out of the office as another human rebellion was squashed.
