OCWaGH: Chapter 5

It only took a few minutes for the girls to decide on which apartments to stay in. Haruka, Michiru, Hotaru, and Usagi would stay in the big apartment, while Ami and Makoto would stay in one of the smaller rooms on the floor below; along with Rei and Minako in the other one.

"Well, now that we got that settled," Haruka started to say, "We should go into town to buy some things; mostly food, clothes, and stuff like that."

"Agreed," Michiru nodded her head, "We'll also need the help of those boys to show us around as well."

The other girls could hear Rei make a low, audible grumble to herself, 'Great, more time with that little loudmouth,' Rei thought to herself with irritation.

"Umm, since the meeting is over, I'll go let them back in," Ami stated as she walked to the front door. She opened the door to see the three Eds were still out in the hallway.

They perked up when they heard the door open, "Hello Mercury!" Ed greeted her with a big smile.

"Please, you can call me Ami," she stated with a small chuckle, "We just finished our meeting, so you can come back inside. Sorry about leaving you three out here."

"Good," Eddy stated with an irritated sigh, "It was getting boring out here."

Ed and Eddy went inside with Ami, with Double D following close behind them.

'Ed just called her Mercury, even though her name is Ami,' Double D started to think to himself as he reached for the blue medal in his pocket to look at it once again, 'Ms. Kaiou also mentioned that Mamoru split his powers for all three of us to use, and I noticed that the symbol on this medal is the astrological sign for the planet Mercury… Does that mean I have the same power as she does? Or does it mean I… I'm her…'

He shook his head a little at a thought that was forming in his head, 'Right As if I could protect anyone like Ed or Eddy can,' Double D thought with a sigh, putting the medal back in his pocket, 'Maybe this is some sort of mistake… I'm not strong enough for that.'

"Welcome back," Haruka greeted the Eds when they came back over, "All of us need to go to town to pick up some things. Do you mind if you three can tag along with us?"

"Sure!" Ed replied before Double D and Eddy could say anything back.

"Ed, please don't respond for us like that," Double D stated with a small sigh, "But yes, we can try to help you all out as much as we can."

"Don't you all have some sort of map on your cell phones though?" Eddy asked, "Wouldn't that be more helpful than us showing you around?"

"Not exactly," Minako replied, "How would we know what areas in this town are safe or not? We just got here!"

"Oh, right," Eddy grumbled a little, scratching the back of his head a little; you could tell he was not up for being a tour guide.

Makoto made a chuckle, "Besides, there's always the chance that there's an enemy out there and someone needing help. You three could use the practice."

Double D and Eddy were silent about that, but not Ed, "Yeah, it's my new job!" he stated with a big smile, "I gotta practice protecting everyone!"

Usagi was also a bit quiet, which was noticed by Hotaru, "Everything will be okay, Usagi," she stated to her friend.

Usagi only nodded her head with a small smile.

"Umm, before we go, I do have a question to ask," Double D started to say as everyone turned to him, "When we fight these monsters, what should my friends and I call ourselves? I assume we can't use our real names."

"You're right, you three need a codename to use," Michiru stated, thinking about it for a moment.

The room was silent for a few seconds before Ami perked up her head with a smile, "I have an idea," she turned to everyone, "Since it seems they are also assigned to a planet like us, why not use the Greek counterparts to ours as their names?"

"Oh, I see what you mean!" Double D gasped, "All of the planets in this solar system are named after Roman gods, and almost every Roman god has a Greek counterpart!" he then took out the blue medal from his pocket again, "So, that would make me, umm… Hermes, correct?"

"Yes, that's right," Ami replied.

"Alright then, wise guy," Eddy started to say to Double D as he took out the red medal from his pocket, "What would mine be?!"

"Well, the symbol on your medal is the astrological sign for Mars," Double D explained, thinking about it for a second before replying, "Wouldn't his Greek counterpart be Ares?"

Ami nodded her head, "You're correct."

"Oh, oh! What would my nickname be?" Ed asked.

The room was silent for a moment before someone spoke a name, "Gaia."

Everyone turned to who said the name, "Usagi?" Rei questioned a little in surprise.

"I remember this a little bit, but…" Usagi started to say, lowering her head a little, "That was the name of Endymion's kingdom on Earth during the Silver Millennium. He was the prince of that kingdom, and Serenity would sneak out of the castle to visit him there sometimes…"

"I see," Ami stated with a smile, "Gaia also means Mother Earth, and is just another name for Earth in general. That would fit quite well for a codename."

"Yay!" Ed cheered as he put his arms over his two friend's shoulders, "We're now all part of the team!"

Double D and Eddy made an exasperated sigh to their tall friend.

Meanwhile, about ten minutes away in downtown Peach Creek, we could see a small, strange building located on top of the roof of an abandoned building; the small building was a bar, complete with a white neon sign that flickered occasionally. The neon sign outside the bar showed the name of the place, Soul Breakers.

It was inside this bar that we could see two young adults and two older adults, sitting around the bar where the counter was. All four of them wore some kind of uniform that was a different color. One of the older adults was the green-haired woman from before in the junkyard; she was the oldest of the group. The other older adult was a blond-haired man with a bit of a buff build that had a buzz cut and brown eyes. One of the younger adults there was a woman with long, navy blue hair and bright blue eyes. The final person there was a young man with bright red hair and dark, red-brown eyes; he was the youngest of the four.

The blond-haired man took a shot of the whisky that was in his glass, "Goddamn, things have been so slow lately."

"Dude, we only started this operation a few days ago," stated the red-haired man in annoyance, "Of course it's gonna be slow right now!"

The blue-haired woman only sighed at them, "I swear, you two act like children sometimes. You are both 19 and 32, so start acting your age!"

"Ugh, you know you're about the same age as me, Mira!" the red-haired man retorted to her.

"Whatever you say, Reed," the woman named Mira shrugged her shoulders before taking a sip of the water she had in her glass.

The green-haired woman only chuckled at their antics, "Well then, I guess I can pick up the slack for today as I did earlier," she started to walk toward the exit of the bar, "I'll be back later with more Emotives for Lord Krishna."

"You'd be careful out there, Clover," the blond-haired man stated to her.

"Oh, you know I'm always careful, Jonah dear!" she replied to him, blowing a kiss in his direction before leaving the building.

Jonah only rolled his eyes at her when she left, "Geez, there's no need for that," he grumbled before looking towards his other comrades, "Well, what about you two? I think you should gather some Emotives for our leader. He does need a lot of it for his plan."

"Yeah, yeah, I plan on going out in town soon," Reed replied, taking a swig of the rum and coke he had in his glass.

"Same here," Mira stated with a sigh as she stood up from where she sat, "I'll go look for targets in town," she turned back to Reed with a small smirk, "I might even find a cute boy to replace you with, Reed."

Reed only glared at her for that comment, "Fat chance on that! I'll just find a girl to do the same with you!"

Jonah rolled his eyes once again, 'Now who's being the childish ones here?' he thought as he took another drink of his whisky, 'Why do those two always gotta act like fire and ice between each other? I know they're exes, but sheesh.'

Author's Note (October 6th, 2023): This chapter was going to be a bit longer, but I decided to end it at this point because I thought it would get too long if I kept going. Anyway, keep our eyes out for the next chapter, eventually!
