Some time later, it was officially six weeks since Vivian and Chance found out they were pregnant. Vivian begrudgingly went to the doctor and had blood work done to confirm she was indeed pregnant. Chance and Jake worked it out so that he could be there for the first ultrasound. Despite his nervousness, he was really excited to see what they had created on screen, even though Vivian told him he wouldn't be able to see much. "You really don't have to go if you don't want to, Chance. They're the size of a jelly bean right now. Nothing really interesting to see yet." She said as she gathered up her work things from her desk while Chance wiped off some dirt from a car off his hands. He tossed the rag in a nearby bin.
"I wanna be there for every little moment, Viv. One of Mom's regrets was when my Dad was alive, he missed a lot of the big and little moments when she got pregnant with me because of his job in the Enforcers. He almost missed my birth because he was on duty that day. I'm not going to miss even one appointment." She smiled at his response. "Sorry we have to go in separate cars though. It would just be hard to double back and take you back to the shop when I have to go to HQ after." She said as her ears folded back. Chance waved her off. "It's cool. Jake has a couple of tows lined up for me in the city anyway." He stuck his head into the garage part and called out to Jake. "Hey, going to the ultrasound thing, buddy. I'll be back after that and the two tow jobs." He saw Jake's cinnamon paw wave him off as he stayed down under a hood. "Yeah, yeah. Have fun, pal!"
He said as Chance went to go leave with Vivian, taking the keys for the tow truck out of his pocket. A thought occurred to Vivian. "So...when do I get to meet your Mom and we tell her the "good news"?" She said, using her fingers for air quotes. Chance stopped on the way to their vehicles. "Huh? Oh, Mom's gonna be a grandma now and she's gonna have to meet you. I hadn't even thought about that yet. She's probably gonna be surprised it took me this long to slip up and have a kit."
Vivian put her hands on her hips and lifted an eyebrow at him. "Were you really that bad as a teenager and a young adult, Chance?" He scratched the back of his head and winced with one eye shut. "Well...let's just say Mom accidentally walked in on me a couple of times when I was in Highschool. She learned after the couple of times what the sock on the doorknob meant or to always knock if my door was closed." Vivian's mouth dropped open. She had a horrified look on her face. "Chance! No! Your poor mother." He chuckled. "Oh come on, like you didn't mess around in High school?" He asked as she blushed. "Not in my Dad's house! He would've killed me and the tom I was caught doing the deed in the house with." Chance shrugged. "Oh, right. Mafia princess." He chuckled as she shot him a glare. "I am not a mafia princess." He continued to chuckle as she tried to walk away, but he gently grabbed her by her hand and made her turn to him. He brought her face gently to his. "I hope you don't mind being my princess though, Kitten." He said before he kissed her. She smiled seconds before the kiss. She continued to smile at him as she pulled back. "Just so long as you're the prince or the knight in shining armor." Chance smiled at this. "Always, love."
Later, they were sitting in the room of the ultrasound place. They made Vivian take her pants off and placed a cover that felt like a big piece of paper over her legs. She kept her blouse on. "So, what do you think our kit will look like? They'll be half tabby and half...?" He asked, inviting her to answer. He realized in all their time together so far, he never bothered to ask what breed she was. "Turkish Van. I just hope if we have a boy, he won't have these or if he does, they'll be round and light, like my father's." She said pointing above her eyes, referring to the orange reddish markings above her eyes, making it look like natural eyeshadow. "One of my male cousins got unlucky and they ended up with the girly look like mine and Lil's. He was so pissed. He even shaved them off once, which of course made things worse." She laughed and he chuckled. "I kinda want a boy myself. I could show him all my Megawar 2 videos I have and maybe one day show him how to fly a jet, but I wouldn't mind being a girl dad either. Maybe she could be one of the first she-Kat pilots. I know the Enforcers already have Felina Feral, but she'll have to retire someday. Someone will have to replace her." She smiled when Chance said this. "Maybe we'll get lucky and knock out both a boy and a girl in one shot." Chance's smile faded a little. "I'm just hoping for one for now."
It was then that the doctor and the ultrasound tech came in. He came to Vivian and shook her hand first. "Good morning Ms. Vanfang. I'm Doctor Lovelace. Oh? And this is Dad, I'm assuming?" The male doctor came in and went to Chance and shook his hand. "Yes, sir. Chance Furlong, proud future father." Vivian felt her heart flutter at this. The Doctor smiled at Chance and then turned to Vivian. "Doctor Lovelace, Ms. Vanfang. How are you feeling?" He asked as the ultrasound tech got things ready. "Well, I've been nauseated a lot. Nobody tells you morning sickness doesn't stick to just mornings." She said as Dr. Lovelace chuckled. "No, no they don't. So were you kids actively trying or was this an uh-oh situation?" He asked as he looked over her chart. "Uh-oh situation. I was on birth control and I accidentally missed a few days, so here we are." He nodded. "It happens. The pill is 99.99 percent effective when used correctly, but there is that .01 percent possibility. You should go buy a lottery ticket Mr. Furlong, since you seem to be lucky." Chance smirked.
"Or unlucky depending on how you look at it." Vivian shot a glare at him. He held his hands up in defense. "Unlucky in terms of the timing! I'm just lucky it happened with you, Kitten." Her face softened and Dr. Lovelace chuckled. "Nice save there, Mr. Furlong." He said as the ultrasound tech handed him a lubed up long wand. "Uhh...where's the one that goes on the stomach?" Vivian asked nervously. "Oh. You're really early into your pregnancy. It's easier to see if we do a vaginal one versus the stomach one. If you waited until 12 weeks, we could've done that one. Don't worry, it's not as bad as you're thinking it is in your head." He then looked over at Chance with a smirk and a eyebrow raise. "And you're next." Chance's eyes went wide "Yeah, I'm on the nope train to screw-that's-vill." He said as the Doctor, the tech, and Vivian all laughed. The Doctor then moved between Vivian's legs, keeping her covered as he did so. Chance watched Vivian's face as she tried to hide her discomfort. "Awe, come on Viv. If you can handle me, you can handle that thing, no problem." Her eyes went wide and her mouth dropped open as she smacked his arm lightly. He chuckled. The ultrasound tech spoke up as she was doing something on the computer next to them.
"There's a huge difference between...uhm...expecting it and wanting to do that and getting an exam and not really wanting it, Mr. Furlong. Trust me, I've had a couple of kits myself." She said, blushing a little. Chance chuckled. "I know. I was just trying to make it less tense for her." Vivian shot him a mock annoyed look. "It's not working." She said as Chance winked at her.
The ultrasound tech turned the screen towards the doctor. "Ah. There we are. You are most definitely pregnant, Ms. Vanfang. About 6 weeks on the mark, I'd say. Wanna know how many you'll be having?" He asked as Chance gulped. Vivian let out a breath she had been holding. "Yeah, let's see."
The ultrasound tech turned the screen towards them. They saw what looked like a grainy black and white screen. "Let's see...there's the cervix, and the amniotic sac. Well...looks like you guys are only having one little one this go around. See that round thing there? That's your little guy or girl. Congratulations you two!" The Doctor said as both Chance and Vivian stared at the screen in awe. "That's...that's our son or daughter?!" Vivian said, tears welling up in her eyes, not expecting to be as emotional as she was being. She covered her mouth, trying to hold back tears of joy. Chance gently grabbed her hand as he stared at the screen, absolutely speechless. 'Me and Vivian created that...wow...' He thought as he looked down at her and couldn't help the grin. "I love you, so much." She said, pulling him down to her, the happy tears falling. "I love you, too. That's awesome. We're gonna be parents!" He said as happy tears of his own suddenly came as he kissed her and embraced her tightly. Both the Doctor and the ultrasound tech smiled at the scene. "Wanna hear the heartbeat?" The ultrasound tech asked. Vivian and Chance looked at each other and nodded.
She turned a couple of knobs on the machine and suddenly there was the sound of a strong little thundering swishing like sound coming from the machine. "Oh my..." Vivian said as more happy tears came. Chance gripped her hand a little tighter as his heart strings were being tugged too. "That's our little guy or girl. Strong and amazing like their momma." He said smiling down at her. She smiled up at him. "Like their daddy too." She said as he once again bent down to kiss her. The ultrasound tech smiled. "I'll print a couple of pictures for you both." The Doctor removed the wand and flipped through Vivian's chart and his brow furrowed. "Something wrong, Doc?" Chance asked, noticing the doctor's face. He shook his head. "Well, not really wrong per say...Ms. Vanfang, your bloodwork came back fine, but with the last set of vitals we took on you, your blood pressure was a little on the high side. You're not hypertensive yet, but you could head that way, stressing your kit out as well and putting you both in danger. You could also miscarry and loose them. Do you have a lot of major stressors going on in your life right now?" Vivian considered him for a moment.
"I did recently have a traumatic experience happen to me when I didn't know I was pregnant. I got hurt because of it and had to have surgery. My father is kind of my major stressor right now." The doctor nodded. "Oh. He doesn't approve of this relationship between you two or something?" He said, pointing his pen between the two of them. "Sort of." Vivian shrugged. The doctor shook his head. "That's a shame. You both seem like a very loving couple. Hopefully he'll come around." He said as he wrote her a prescription and ripped it off the pad, handing it to her. "Here's some suggestions for the nausea. You have to be careful with what you take now because of the little one in there. Also, take it easy and don't let your father or anything else get to you, Ms. Vanfang. I'd hate to have to learn you miscarried or ended up in the hospital due to stress." She nodded as he gave her a smile.
"Oh! Also you are due in June. Better get your ducks in a row. That 9 months will be done before you know it! Don't forget to schedule your 18 week appointment. We'll get to find out the gender then." She nodded, taking the script from him. "Thank you, Doctor." She said as he left. The ultrasound tech handed both of them a small printout of the ultrasound. Digitally written on it with an arrow pointing to the little blip were the words "Kitten Furlong". They both smiled at this. The tech left the room and shut the door. She handed hers to Chance as she got up off the table and started to get dressed again. "It feels more real now that I have this." He said, looking down at the picture. Vivian buttoned her pants back up and looked at him. "What? It didn't feel real before today?" He looked at her as she came over to him, taking her picture back.
"It's just...I have confirmation that this is real in my hands. There's no question that it's happening now. We're gonna be parents in nine months. It's one thing to say it, but to see and hear the life we made together is a whole other thing." She smiled. "I'm glad you wanna be an active partner in this, Chance. It means a lot." She said as he smiled. They later left the ultrasound place to the parking lot. They shared a long kiss and a hug before parting and going to their respective vehicles and leaving.
Later, Chance arrived back at the garage after completing the two tows in the city. He walked into the garage, chest puffed out and the biggest smile on his face. Jake was in their living room area, reading a newspaper when he heard Chance walk in. "Hey buddy, how'd it go?" Chance took out the ultrasound picture he had safely tucked away in his chest pocket on the inside of his coveralls. "Have a look, pal." He handed it to Jake. He smiled slightly. "So it's true. She really is pregnant. Looks like a little jelly bean." He said as he cocked his head to the side while looking at it. He sat down beside Jake.
"Still nervous?" He asked as Chance shrugged a little. "Yeah, but I'm more excited than nervous now. You would think this would drive me and Vivian apart. It's actually bringing us closer together I think, believe it or not." Jake smiled. "Wow, Chance. I actually think you might be growing up. I'm so proud." He chuckled and ruffled Chance's red cap. He gave him a slightly annoyed look, taking off his cap and fixing it. "Speaking of which...I'm gonna have to call Mom and tell her the good news soon." Chance said as Jake stared at him. "Oh...how do you think she's gonna take the news that she's a grandma by accident?" Chance shook his head and smiled slightly. "Probably better than if I was a teenager, but she's still gonna be sore at me for getting a she-kat pregnant while we're not married." Jake lifted an eyebrow at him. "Hasn't she been asking for grandkits for a while?" Chance nodded. "Yeah, but she also wanted me to do it "the right way" and be married before that. Both Viv and I agreed it's too soon to even be considering marriage. I just hope mom doesn't push it on her or us." He said as Jake shook his head. "Momma Furlong is a lot of things, but pushy? No! Never!" He said chuckling as Chance smirked. Memories of their days in the Enforcer academy sprang to mind. He brought Jake home with him one time on leave. She insisted Jake try all of her cooking because he was so skinny. Chance thought he was gonna leave the house being the size of a Good Kat Year blimp when leave was over. By the end of it, she declared that Jake was now son number two that she never had.
Jake looked down at the ultrasound picture in his hand and gave it back to Chance. "Well, at least there's only one in there and not multiples like you were fearing, pal." Chance got up and walked to the fridge. He took one of the magnets off the fridge and posted the picture there. He smiled as he looked at it. "Thank the gods for that. Let's get back to work, buddy." He said as Jake got up and followed him back into the garage.
Vivian was in her office at Enforcer HQ when her sister came and knocked on the door frame. "Hey Vee-Vee, what's up? Why did you wanna have lunch at work? You usually never wanna do that." She said, bringing in a couple of takeout bags and closing the door. Vivian had a smile on her face as her Lilian took a seat. "Remember when you met Chance, you predicted we'd be engaged or married in a year and that you'd be excited to be an aunt?" Lillian nodded. "Yeah. What? Did Chance propose to you or something? I don't see a ring!" She said as Vivian shook her head and slid the picture face down on the desk towards her. "Well, we're apparently doing things a little bit backwards." Vivian said as Lilian gave her a funny look while picking up the picture and flipping it over. She gasped and cried out a happy squeal. "Holy kats, you're pregnant?!" Vivian nodded with tears in her eyes. "Yeah little sis. You're gonna be an aunt!" Lilian screamed with happiness and came around the desk to throw her arms around her sister's neck and hugged her. "Aaaahh! Congratulations! I'm gonna be an auntie!" She said as her smile faded. "Wait...weren't you on the pill?" She asked, a little fearful as she was also on the pill. She didn't want kits so soon. Vivian sighed. "Yeah, but I ended up missing a few pills when Dad katnapped me and then my stay in the hospital. Don't worry Lil. Just take them everyday and don't miss even one. You'll be fine." She said, assuming her sister's fear. She came to sit in her sister's lap, looking at the ultrasound picture in her hand. "That's gonna be one cute kit between you and Chance. You'll have to build a mote around them, complete with alligators and razor wires to keep the little girls and boys off of them." Vivian laughed at this. "Yeah. They'll be super cute."
"Sooooo...y'all plan on getting married? You know he needs to make you an honest she-Kat now." Vivian shook her head. "It's too soon to even be considering marriage in our relationship. We both agreed to raise this kit together and see where it goes. I'm completely fine with that." She said as Lilian frowned a little. "I would think you would jump at the chance to marry someone after you missed your wedding with Max. I mean, if he likes you enough to raw-Kat it, give you his kitten juice, and then raise his mistake with you and not run, then he should like you enough to marry you." She said as Vivian's ears flattened. "He wasn't the only one to blame, Lil. I was there too and we might have not meant to do it, but they're not a mistake. Chance was adamant about using condoms and I convinced him the pill would be enough." Lilian raised an eyebrow at her. "Oh. So you were the bad influence?" She said as Vivian smirked and shrugged. "I guess so." She hopped off her lap and went back to sit in front of her desk. "Let's dig in, I'm starving! I'm sure you are too, preggo lady." She said as Vivian laughed as Lilian started divvying out lunches.
That night, Chance and Vivian were cuddled up on her couch at her apartment, watching Scardy Kat cartoons. Ever since the katnapping, they refused to be apart for very long. They alternated staying at each other's places. Jake wasn't staying much at the garage anyway, as he was going to Callie's a lot. Chance was laughing his tail off at Scardy Kat, as usual. Vivian would laugh occasionally, but not as much as usual. Chance noticed and muted the TV. "Something wrong, Kitten? You feeling sick again?" She shook her head and sighed. "No, just a little bit worried is all." Chance frowned as his ears fell back. "You know what the Doc said about stressing yourself out. When you stress out, you stress out our kit too. What are you worried about?" He asked, giving her his full attention.
"Well I don't know how Dad's gonna react to us having a kitten. He didn't want us together because both of us were stopping his activities in the first place. Now he's about to be the grandfather of the kit of his vigilante daughter and her vigilante boyfriend he doesn't approve of." Chance frowned. "If I had it my way, he wouldn't see them at all, ever. You already said you wanted to keep him at arm's length after what he did to us, remember?" He asked as Vivian sighed. "They'll be his first grandkit, Chance. I can't keep them away from him. It'll be a while before Lilian wants kits, if she ever does. It would break his heart if I kept them away from him." Chance shook his head. "You shouldn't care about breaking his heart. He sure the hell didn't care about breaking yours or mine." She looked at him, surprised, but not really surprised. "You're usually not so mean and vindictive, Chance." He stared at her and then shook his head. "I'm sorry, Kitten. He made me hate him after what happened. I could've lost you and unknowingly, our kitten too. I was already fifty kinds of pissed when he katnapped you and you ended up nearly dying. Today only made the feeling worse, knowing how easily we could've also lost them that day and maybe would've never found out." He said, gently placing his hand on her now slightly rounded stomach. She put her hand over his, feeling a warm tingling feeling.
Vivian sighed. "We can't pick and choose our families, but at least they'll have both their mother and father, a grandma, a grandpa, and a loving aunt." She said, looking down and smiling. "They'll never want for a loving family." Chance smiled slightly. "I'm guessing you told Lilian?" He asked as she nodded. Chance frowned slightly. "You think that's a good idea? The last time you told her an important secret, that didn't pan out so good. She went straight to your father." Vivian's eyebrows knit together in frustration. "Chance, what do you expect me to do? Hide from them for nine months until they're born? Maybe longer? You know I can't do that. Besides, Lil would start to eventually notice I'm a little rounder than usual, especially the further along I get."
Chance frowned and sighed, bringing her closer to him. "I guess you're right. Speaking of family, you think you're ready to meet my mom next week?" Vivian shook her head and sighed. "I don't know. That's a scary subject for me. I've been worried about that too. Max's parents were both passed away so I didn't have to worry about that. What if she doesn't like me? What if she gets it in her head that I'm stealing her little boy away? I've had friends whose mother-in-law hated them simply because of that!" Chance laughed. "First of all, mom's gonna love you. Second, she's been asking for grandkits from me for a while now. She might not like the way it happened, but she'll be excited she gets to be a grandma now. Third, my mom has been asking me since I graduated from the Enforcer academy years ago when I was gonna bring home a nice she-Kat and settle down. I don't think you have anything to worry about there." She smiled at this, relaxing a bit. "Okay. That makes me feel a little better."
"Speaking of vigilantes by the way, are you officially retiring as Shadow Kat and just being a paper pusher for the Enforcers and a mom now or what?" Chance asked as Vivian shook her head. "I planned on picking it back up once I healed until I found out I was preggo. I've got a couple of scores to settle with Dr. Viper and The Pastmaster now. Plus, I need to stick around and make sure Dad doesn't try and weasel back into his old ways." Chance narrowed his eyes at her.
"Not to shoot you down but, one of us has to be around for our kit, Viv. Not that I'm going down that easy, but there's always the possibility of me getting hurt or killed every time I go out as T-Bone. At least they'll still have one parent if I'm gone. I'd hate to see them end up in foster care if we're both gone. Lil's too young in my opinion to take on a kit. She's out having fun with life for now, and there's nothing wrong with that, but I wouldn't leave them to her until she's a bit older." Vivian shook her head at him and smirking slightly. "This is my city too, Tiger. I'm not gonna let you bench me just because we're having a kit together. I'm not telling you to quit being a Swat Kat, don't make me give up being Shadow Kat." She said as she gave him a stern look. Chance shrugged.
"Me and Jake have our reasons for being the Swat Kats. What's yours for being Shadow Kat? If it's just for a rush, that's not a good reason, Vivian." She moved out of his grasp and stared at him. "It's not just for an adrenaline rush, Chance! I wanted to make a difference when I was in the military. Show my Dad that the things he taught me could be used for the good of katkind, not just to hurt or scare them into submission. Martial arts and my small arms training and sniper skills too. Now that I'm out, I don't have to follow anyone's commands. I don't have to do things for other's gains. I call my own shots." He nodded, understanding where she was coming from.
"Yeah, but you're not going to do nothing crazy and try to go on patrol with us while you're pregnant, are you?" He asked as she gave him her serious look. "No, Chance. Even though it's really early into it, no I won't. I promise." She said, giving him a sincere smile. "You better be telling me the truth. Because if I catch you out there, Viv, I'm gonna tie you up and make sure you can't leave next time." She gave him a small seductive look.
"Oohh, don't threaten me with a good time, Tiger." She said as she saw the mix of surprised and the glint of lust in his eyes. He shook his head, trying to shake it off. "I'm serious, Viv. I don't wanna loose you or our kit." She gave him a serious look. "I promise, Chance. I don't want to loose them either. I won't do anything until after they're born and we figure out the babysitter arrangements." She said as she settled back against him. "So...uh...about the being tied up thing, have you ever...?" He asked as she smirked. "Maybe, maybe not. Why? Something you wanna try?" She looked up at him as Chance gave her a sheepish look and blushed.
"Well, I kinda did already once, but it was a drunken night at the academy with my enforcer handcuffs. I only remember bits and pieces." She laughed. "Maybe one day." Chance gave her a lifted eyebrow look. "So have you...?" She gave him a mysterious look. "A lady never tells." She said as he laughed slightly. "Looks like there's more layers to my Kitten then I know." He said as he wrapped his arms around her, leaning in. "Oh yes, lots of layers to go through. Luckily we have all the time in the world before they get here and we'll have moments while we're raising our kit too." She said, smiling as she wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissing him. They enjoyed the rest of the night together watching their shows and movies together on her couch, eventually moving to Vivian's room and turning in for the night.
A couple of days later, it was the weekend and Vivian's day off. She was sitting on the couch in the garage, reading one of her comic books, waiting for Chance to get off. Suddenly a long black limo pulled up to the garage. Jake got Chance's attention as they were both under the hood of a car. They both looked to the limo pulling in. They moved to go talk to whoever this was. 'It's not Callie. The Mayor's limo is white.' Chance thought to himself as he walked towards it. His smile faded when he saw who stepped out of the limo. It was Dominic and the tiger from the office building where they held Vivian. Chance's face instantly changes into one of anger. Jake comes to stand next to him. "What the hell are you doing here?! Didn't you get the message at the hospit-" Chance is cut off by a sucker punch from the side he didn't see coming. The tiger stood over him as he lays on the ground.
"Chance!" Vivian yelled as she ran out to the scene. Chance shook his head as he sat up. He grit his teeth as he looked up at the two toms. "It wasn't enough that you couldn't stay away from my daughter. Now you've impregnated her with your bastard kitten?! What's it going to take for you to get it, Mr. Furlong?! You will never be good enough for my daughter! You're a vigilante and a down on his luck mechanic! You can't support her, let alone a family! Even if you could, one of these days, one of us so-called villains of Megakat City will take you out. What will she be left with? A fatherless kitten from a tom with nothing to his name?" Chance growled as he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth on the back of his hand. He once again stood up. "What? Can't face me like a real tom, Vanfang? You must not be that pissed off about me getting your daughter pregnant if you won't fight me yourself, and don't call our kit a bastard! They'll have a Dad! A real one, unlike you!" Jake tried to come to Chance's aid, but the tiger blocked him. Chance gave Jake the 'this is my fight' nod and Jake reluctantly stood back. Dominic smirked at Chance. "Don't have to. That's one of the reasons I have him. Rough him up some more, Rocko. I don't think we've knocked enough respect into Mr. Furlong just yet."
"Dad, please don't hurt Chance! I'm just as much at fault as he is! Probably more!" Vivian yelled as she ran to her father. Dominic ignored her as they watched the scene unfold. Chance stood against Rocko in a fighting stance. He had his signature wide smirk he'd have if he were fighting as T-Bone. "Come on, big guy, I ain't done yet!" He said as he prepared for it. He went to grab at Chance, but he was faster than he thought. He kicked the rather larger kat in the stomach before he got away from him. Rocko doubled over in pain, growling at him. Chance went to return the favor and sucker punch him back, but he caught Chance's fist and punched him on the other side, sending him flying back. He barely caught himself, sending dust and dirt flying into the air as he caught his footing, ready to defend himself again. He growled and came at Rocko. "Chance! Stop! Please!" Vivian cried out to him. She distracted him for only half a second, but that's all the tiger needed to grab Chance by the throat and slam him down to the ground. He didn't give up though. He took the half second opportunity, punching the tiger in the face. It didn't seem to phase him. 'Huh? This tom on drugs or what?!' Chance thought to himself as Rocko proceeded to claw and punch Chance.
"No! Dad, stop this, please!" Vivian desperately begged her father as he slowly looked over at her. "He disrespected me and defiled you, Vivian. He has to pay."
"This kit wouldn't exist if it wasn't for you being a psycho and inadvertently putting me in the hospital! I missed my birth control pills and accidentally got pregnant! If anyone is to blame, it's you and your selfishness!" She looked over where Chance was still fighting her father's bodyguard. Chance was getting a few good hits on him and managed to roll him over, but she noticed his coveralls were torn and his face was bloodied. Rocko had some cuts and bloody places and a shredded suit as well from Chance. "He's the father of your grandkit and the tom I chose to love! Please Dad, if you even love or care for me in the slightest, you'll stop this!" Dominic considered her for a moment.
"That's enough Rocko." He called out to him. Chance had his suit jacket gripped in one hand as he straddled him and was about to throw another punch when he stopped at her father's words. Both toms were panting and bleeding heavily. He let go and got up from Rocko. The tiger glared at him as he stood up and walked away from Chance. Vivian ran to Chance as she put his arm around her shoulders. Jake came and put his other arm around his shoulders, supporting him as well. "There's more where that came from, you oversized piece of crud!" Chance called out to Rocko, making him turn and almost start the fight over again, but Dominic put his hand on the bigger Kat's shoulder and shook his head. "I said that's enough."
"Chance, stop. It's over. Try to calm down." Vivian said, using a calming voice to try and get through to him. He looked down at her and back to her father. "I guess there's nothing I can do to convince you to stay away from her, is there? Especially now since you're stuck in her life for at least the next 18 years." Chance smirked. "I plan to be around longer than that." Vivian felt her heart skip a beat at this.
"Well, now I guess I can't let your big secret out. That would put my daughter and grandkit in danger. That's the only thing saving your tail, Furlong." Dominic said as Chance spit out blood and smirked at him. "Really? It wasn't the fact that I just kicked the crud out of your bodyguard?" Rocko growled and stepped forward, but Dominic put a hand up to stop him. "Cocky to a fault. I like it. I just hope you keep that same fire about you when it comes to my daughter and my grandkit." Chance nodded at him as Dominic turned to Vivian. "And you, daughter number one, I don't see why you saw the need to hide this from me. Do you not plan to let me see my own grandkit?" He asked as she caught a little trace of hurt in his cobalt eyes. Vivian stood a little taller. "I didn't plan on keeping them from you. It's really early in the pregnancy. I didn't want to let you know yet. I would've when I felt the time was right."
"But you felt the need to tell Lilian, but not me?" He asked as Vivian grit her teeth. 'Damn it, Lil. Again?! I can't tell her anything, apparently!' Vivian shook her head. "Dad, it's not what you think! I only told Lil first because I knew she'd be excited about becoming an aunt. I would've told mom first if she was still here. I didn't think you'd take the news about being a grandfather too well right now. I-I didn't wanna let you know because you've suffered enough loss with Mom. What if I lost it? You don't take loss too well." His eyes go soft for a moment. "Are you-are you in danger of loosing it, Viv? Are you okay, health wise?" He asked, now surprisingly the concerned father. "I'm fine, Dad, but I've been stressed out lately and my blood pressure has been on the high side. It could make me loose it." He considered her for a moment and stepped towards the group. Chance took his arms back from his girlfriend and friend.
"Chance..." she said as he turned and gave her a signal that it would be okay. Dominic stopped in front of him. "I'm not going to welcome you into the family and I'm not going to congratulate either one of you. Just...take care of my daughter and my grandkit and please consider letting me see them at least once." Chance narrowed his eyes at him. "As long as you don't send scuzzball stripes back here, we have a truce." He said as he extended his hand out to Dominic. He looked down to the extended hand, as if it was a foreign object. "Truce...for now." He said as he shook Chance's hand. He turned and left to get back in his limo. Rocko had the door opened for him. He gave Chance one last glare before getting in and they left. "I thought I was gonna have to go get the glovatrix for a minute, pal. You really get yourself in some cruddy situations lately, Chance." Jake said as Chance chuckled slightly, but stopped when a sudden pain caught his ribs. Vivian immediately went to his side and under his arm once more and he smiled at her. "Thanks, Kitten." She smiled back. "No problem, Tiger." Chance shook his head. "Ugh, either find me a new nickname or don't call me that for a while. That Rocko guy is a real beast." He said as he adjusted his jaw. "Nearly knocked me out cold."
"Yeah. He's been with Dad for a while. Hopefully my meeting your Mom won't be near as violent or bloody." She said as he chuckled a little, being careful not to anger his injured ribs further. "I can almost guarantee it won't be." She smiled. "Let's get you inside to change and get cleaned up." Vivian said, ushering him back to the garage.
Later, Vivian was sitting on the bed with Chance. He was in his boxers and long sleeve shirt after trashing his blue coveralls. He had a ton in his closet, so he wasn't too hurt when he had to throw those out. He winced and hissed a little with the sting of the iodine as Vivian was trying to clean up the cuts on his face. "At least you don't need stitches, it looked worse with all that blood." She said as he stared at her. "You okay, Viv? Not too stressed out?" Chance asked, concerned. She shook her head and sighed as she continued to nurse him. "I'm fine now, but I'm not going to lie, that scuffle out there shot my b/p through the roof. I could feel that, along with everything else I was feeling." Chance frowned as his ears fell back. "You sure you're okay, Kitten? I don't mind taking you to the doc if need be." She laughed as she put the first aid kit away while he pulled her into his lap. "I'm supposed to be worried about you, not the other way around. Part of my role as mom."
He smiled slightly. "You shouldn't be worrying at all." She smiled as he gently took hold of her head under her chin. "You know what would make me feel better right about now?" He asked with a sly smile. She knew where this was going, but decided to play along. "No, what?" He knew she was playing along. "Your lips on mine." He said as he tipped her head down by her chin and leaned in to kiss her. She smiled slightly just before the kiss. He pressed his lips to hers in a sweet kiss, but Vivian suddenly broke the kiss as she felt a sharp pain from her stomach.
"What's wrong?" Chance asked as many thoughts ran through Vivian's head. "I don't know. Just...felt something weird, that's all." She said, not sure what she felt just then. 'I'm not sure if that's normal or not. This is my first pregnancy, after all. Maybe I should go get checked out.' She thought as she inwardly shook her head and put on a smile for Chance so he wouldn't think something was wrong. He gently scooped her up and sat her back down on the bed. "Sorry, love. Gotta get back downstairs and work." He said as he kissed her forehead and then went to his closet to get another pair of coveralls. 'Maybe I'm just overthinking it. Everything's probably fine.' She thought nervously to herself.
