We Are The Fire

Lt Davis had made the decision to have as much protection as possible given he was jumping into the unknown and wanted the best protection possible that meant the Phase 1 Mando-Modified Clone Trooper Armour the modifications were for better mobility and incorporating Star Fleets environmental and the ancient shield tech that Rodney had run into when he had had the boost.

He had forgone the rifle just in case he would come across as an invader or pirate trying to steal the ship. The life signs detector had in one pass shown no life signs and a second pass had shown almost five thousand, so he was a bit nervous about angering all of them even with their limited and relatively primitive weapons compared to the Atlantians and the Wraith.

He had opted to transport over to the Main Engineering Room, or at least what the computer identified as it and as close as he could get the room was putting out a field that acted like a transport inhibitor. He had also opted for the helmets binocular attachment but had adjusted it to act similarly to Jordie's Visor, but he had control of its many more visual options manually.

-(-)-

As he materialised, his had was already set to put the binoculars in the lowlight and flash protection configuration. His armour had already been sealed so he felt no need to activate his environmental shields just yet, he had two hours in the tank and the shield would hold around six more.

Lt Davis reached into one of the armoured pouches and pulled out seven of what appeared to be marbles but were in actuality the Ancient version of the MALP. He tossed them up in the air gently only for them to stop in mid air and disperse like wish drained Dragon Balls.

They would extend his senses and act as an early warning system if he was being snuck up on. They would also allow the crew on the Nova a birds eye view of his progress. The small balls illuminated slightly illuminating the room in low light.

But as he made his way through the corridors the low light made him, uncomfortable, limited illumination made the shadows stretched out like twisted fingers and the farther in he got the more twisted and distorted they became. With every step he felt like he was being watched. His hand was perpetually held open but hovering around the handle of his Particle Magnum.

His long-honed danger sense began to give off what can only be described as a low warning, similar to the time he was in China for a very dark black operation that he had only survived thanks to luck or providence.

His every step echoed off the metal halls of the hull like the drums of some long-forgotten war tribe as he made his way to what he believed to be the main controls he could hear pipes drip and dropped gasses knock their way about him like tommy knockers warning of a cave in.

He felt like he had stepped into an alien horror film.

"Sparky." He called his robotic companion.

"Yeah Boss." It replied promptly.

"keep a transport lock on me."

"right boss."

"and Sparky."

"Yes Boss."

"let me know if you see a xenomorph."

"yes boss."

In the command bridge of the derelict ship its vast computerised intelligence began to stir. Its monumental machine brain began to recognise that it had been boarded. It turned his eyes to the intruder reading its own memory it saw it appear in a shower of lights.

It then turned its eyes outward. Its impressive sensor arrays found a ship of unusual design its bright white hull standing out garishly against the black void of space. Its eyes then focused on the name prefix.

"HMS." She thought aloud, "interesting." She turned her attention back to the intruder who was inside main engineering.

"Serina" said a strong male voice "what do we have."

-(-)-

"what the bloody hell." The Scottish voiced Exocomp exclaimed with surprise.

"what is it?" asked Dr Zelenka.

"we've just been scanned heavily." He practically shouted. The ship shifted into yellow alert, and he raised the shields pulling back to the farthest range he could and maintain transporter lock. "Tom" he sent to the Lieutenant. "We've been scanned" he shouted over the comm. "there is someone active on the ship and the life forms reading had gone through the roof."

"that's probably why the lights all turned on and the ship has moved to full power."

-(-)-

"I can beam you off now."

"no" LT Davis replied, "lets greet our neighbours." A he spoke the heavy bulkhead door whooshed open revealing several exceptionally large, armoured men pointing weapons at him.

"Place your hands on your head drop to your knees and cross your ankles." The voice was deeply male and filled with authority. As he complied, they approached one of the armoured figures took his Particle Magnum and handing it to one of the other men. "interesting weapon." Said the one who appeared to be in command, he admired the weapon before he placed it on a console well away from Lt Davis.

"thank you I made it myself." There was a snort of derision from one of them before the commander moved forward and squat down so that he was eye to eye with Lt Davis.

"I'm going to ask you a question and if you lie you won't like the response."

"ask away old boy."

"do you have any other weapons on your person."

"yes" he replied honestly, "the lights have a weapon feature that can be accessed by my wrist control." He said wiggling his left elbow slightly to indicate it. Their eyes were drawn to the lights that were above them and around them "I have a set of micro rockets on my knees and micro drone missiles in both wrists and single use micro missile in my right wrist gauntlet along with a flame thrower." He said much to the mans astonishment "I also have two combat knives one in my grieve and the other in the small of my back."

"you're going to have shut down your drone and remove the weapons."

"very well." He said as he began "but I need to stand to do it."

-(-)-

"I hope he's OK." Fretted Dr Zelenka his eyes not leaving the monolithic ship.

"I'm sure he has everything in hand." Said the younger man.

"I hope your right Peter."

"his life signs reading is stable I can pull him out at a moment's notice."

-(-)-

Lt Davis was lead through the ship his hands bound but they had allowed him to keep his helmet on. It took a few minuets to get to their destination, but he was greeted by an old and very grizzled man in a very well maintained unform. He wore a military ball cap and armour similar to but distinctly different from the troopers that had brought him he had.

"who the hell are you and how did you get on my ship."

"its quite rude for you to demand my name without giving yours." There was a blast of indignity behind the captains eyes as he rounded on the younger man. The captain's moustache twitched in annoyance then made to reach for his helmet only for Lt Davis to hold up a hand.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." He cautioned.

"and why is that." Said one of the troopers as he raised his weapon, Lt Davis slowly raised both hands up in surrender.

"well, given how potentially different our two branches of humanity are there presents a risk that any disease I have can be passed onto you could reach pandemic level if mutated and wipe out your crew." There was a pause as they considered his words.

"if I may be permitted to use my environmental shield, I could remove the helmet and we can talk face to face." As he spoke, he indicated to his belt. The older man nodded allowing Lt Davis to activate the buckle a green light flicked on he then slowly tapped the button on his helmet to shut down the seals so he could open the armour and remove his helmet.

As he took the bucket off, he did a slight bow before he gave his name.

"Lieutenant Thomas Davis of Her most Britannic Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Seconds Royal Navy." He saluted the man "on sequestered duty with the United States Airforce Pegasus Expedition."

"Impossible." Said a female voice from seemingly nowhere.

"unlikely." He replied as the Captain turned to the computer. "I've had your ship scanned by my own." He indicated out of the window to starboard "your quantum resonance frequency signature doesn't match any native to this universe."

"Quantum what?"

"do I have to explain the multiverse theory?"

"no, you don't." said the female voice again though this time the computer activated a hologram projector showing a very pretty woman of European descent possibly Germanic she was dressed in a white and black uniform similar to a scientists.

"Captain James Cutter UNSC Navy."

-(-)-

Captain Cutter and Lt Davis spent some time going over their history's both the UNSC and the SGC it was both enlightening and horrifying experience for both men. One beset upon all sides by religious fanatics bent on the total annelation of the human species.

The other by a megalomaniacal snakes with delusions of Godhood and a vastly more horrifying from of space vampires looking to expand their currently depleted feeding grounds by getting earths location from the Atlantis databases.

"and now the Wraith are on their way to Atlantis."

"and if they get to Atlantis?"

"they will most likely get to the rich feeding grounds of the Milky way Galaxy and earth."

"what defences do you have?"

"one Ancient ODP station my ship the Nova that's about it."

"about?"

"there are fabricators that can build damned near anything I was planning to build as many ODP satellites as I can and the Ancient Drones as well." He said, the older officer turned to look out the window contemplating the information. "once that is accomplished, we'll need a new fall-back alpha site to continue on if we do fail to save the City."

"You don't have a fall-back site?" he spun sharply his eyes boring into the young officers.

"Our original was found and overrun by the Wraith." He replied the older man nodded in understanding these things happen in war after all the Covenant found Reach.

"Lieutenant, it seems to me that your back is really up against the wall here." The younger man scoffed slightly.

"it'll be a challenge but not an impossible one sir and even if we lose." He replied with certainty "I'll make sure we bleed the Wraith white." He said as he raised an open hand and closed it into a fist his knuckles popping as he did so. "I will break their fleet at Atlantis, and they will never raise another, my word to God."

"I believe you Lieutenant" he replied with a stern look and a glint in his eyes "but you need some drastic help and unless you can get reinforcements from earth which by your own admission is a slim chance you have very little chance.

"what are you getting at Sir."

"my crew and I swore an Oath to protect Humanity, Earth and all of her colonies against all threats both foreign and domestic." He said with steely resolve in his voice "while you may not be our Humanity you are still human, and the people of this Galaxy are still human."

"you wish to help us?" he asked not sure if the man was serious.

"I will fulfil my Oath until my dyeing breath." He held out his hand for the young officer who took it and shook it firmly. "because we are the UNSC and to do any less would shame both us and our ancestors."

"then on behalf of the Atlantis Expedition welcome to the fight sir."

-(-)-

As the last of the vast crew woke from cryostasis the Captain activated the PA.

"Crew of the Spirit of fire." He said gently his voice holding a resolve that they hand herd since Reach "it is my unfortunate duty to inform you that we have passed beyond the reach of the UNSC and the Covenant with no way to get back home." He let that sit for a moment before continuing "the portal that brough us here moved us from our native dimension to this new one." There were some looks of disbelief, but no one dared interrupt the captain. "The lives we had are gone. The worlds we knew have more than likely moved on without us."

Again, he paused as if summoning the words.

"I want you to look to the men and women around you they are our families now; all we have left of the UNSC are our brothers and sisters beside us." They all looked around acknowledging to themselves and each other that they were all family now. "…there is a Humanity here and they face a danger every bit as vile and every bit as deadly as the Covenant."

There was anger and indignation through out the crew.

"I don't have to remind anyone here of our Oath nor do I have to justify my decision to keep it, I want this ship back to combat readiness as soon as possible, we have a foe before us waiting to be defeated for Honour, for Duty and for Humanity they will feel our fire.
