The HP Girls: Day 2: May's Mood
Hearthome City, Sinnoh. 11th February 2023. 6:06am.
Iris took a deep breath as she stepped into Misty and May's room. Slowly creeping towards the nightstands, she placed a schedule on each of the girls' before placing a thick yellow A4 sized envelope next to May's schedule. She breathed a sigh of relief as she stepped out and ran back to her dorm, getting classes ready for the day.
Hearthome City, Sinnoh. 11th February 2023. 7:12am.
Misty and May woke up to their alarm, and made their way to the bathroom, ready to start the day. As Misty came back, she noticed the schedules on the nightstand. She ran up to them. "Hey, look! Iris dropped off our schedules!" she exclaimed as May too got out of the bathroom, fully dressed.
Misty jumped to sit on her bed, reading her schedule.

THERE WILL ONLY BE TWO GIRLS IN ONE CLASS AFTER THE BEAUTY SESSION.
Misty placed her schedule back and looked at May. "Hey what'd you…" May looked up, her eyes watery. Misty immediately ran to the younger girl's side. "May? What happened?" she asked softly. May hugged the redhead. "I can't believe he did it…" she murmured against her shoulder.
Misty pulled back, fire visible in her eyes. "Who did what? I swear I'll beat them up-" "My dad. He actually…" May trailed off again, as she started sobbing and put the yellow envelope she'd closed up earlier in Misty's lap. Misty put her arm around the brunette and started reading the contents of the envelope. Her eyes widened. "These documents confirm that I, Norman Maple disown my daughter, May Maple." May started crying hysterically. "Your dad actually did it…" Misty spoke, dazed and paralyzed with shock. Then, she got angry.
"How dare he?! You're such a good daughter! Plus, it's his fault for making you say what you said! He can't just declare that you're married! You're sixteen! He should let his daughter live her own life! It's so wrong! That mother-" Misty's rant was interrupted by the alarm, pointing out that it was time to go. Misty sighed as she got up. "Just…try not to think about it. Okay?"
Seeing May nod and wipe her tears wasn't exactly enough for Misty. "OKAY?" May got up, giving her a small smile. "Okay." she whispered as they walked out the room.
Leaf and Dawn joined them at the front door of the gym. "Hey you guys! What classes did you get?" Dawn asked, showing them her schedule.

The group scurried into the gym, waiting for Jimmy to show up. While waiting, Leaf decided to do some pull ups, May tried to challenge herself by weightlifting, Dawn started doing some stretches, and Misty started punching and kicking one of the punching back in the room. Soon, the door opened, and in walked Jimmy.
"Hey girls,"
"Hi."
"So, today, we're going to be doing some long distance running in order to improve your endurance on stage." he explained as the girls groaned. Jimmy led them out to an open field. "Come on girls! Let's go, go, go!" he clapped his hands as they started jogging at a relatively slow pace. Jimmy reached them in no time. "Faster girls!" he urged. A woman popped out from behind him. The girls gasped. "Marina!" Dawn, Leaf, and Misty squealed, while May just gave her a small smile.
Marina raised an eyebrow at her behaviour, but let it go. "Hey you guys!" she smiled pleasantly. Dawn stepped forward. "What're you doing here?" she asked. Marina scratched her head. "Well, Jimmy and I go for runs together everyday!" she spoke fondly as Jimmy smiled at her antics.
The girls' eyes widened. "You guys are dating?" Misty asked bluntly. Leaf elbowed her sharply. "Ow! What?!" Misty glared. Leaf turned away from the redhead, smirking. Marina barked out a small laugh as she turned red as a tomato. "What- uh- why heh, why would you think that? Pshhh no way! We're not dating! Heh, I'll just uh see myself out," she grinned nervously before running ahead. Jimmy sighed sadly. May turned to him.
"You like her, don't you?" she asked softly. Jimmy turned away, still running. "Mhm." Dawn looked confused. "Then why don't you ask her out? She totally likes you!" she told him. Jimmy ran a hand through his hair as he and the girls took on a curve. "I can't," he whispered.
Misty looked at him. "Why not?" she demanded. "She's sweet, she's cute, hell, she even looks like a model! Plus, she's into you! What's the problem?" Jimmy brushed some hair out of his face as they started the second lap. "My parents don't approve." he sighed. Leaf looked at him strangely. "What? Why?" she asked.
Jimmy sped up his pace, causing the girls to follow. "I…My family, is very…poor." he started. "The reason they are poor, is because of my dad's sister, who took all of the family's savings; my mom's, my dad's, my grandma's, and she put them into making her career." he said sadly. "You know the singer Hilda?" The girls nodded. "Yeah, that's my aunt." he said as the girl's eyes widened. "She took all our savings, promising she would return them, and then just left the house. She hasn't returned since. That's why my parents don't trust me, or approve of Marina. They think we're gonna betray them like my aunt did many years ago." he finished.
Leaf spoke up. "How much did she take?" Jimmy sighed as they began their seventh lap. "About 35-" the timer on his watch rang, indicating it had been two hours. He came to a stop and the girls soon followed. "Million." he finished as they started heading to their next class. Dawn, Misty and Leaf comforted him as May just walked away. "You'll be fine." they said before they ran after May, discussing their mentor's story.
May walked briskly towards Zoey's 'Wardrobe' as she'd said to call it and stepped inside. The inside was entirely yellow, bright and beautiful sunlight poking through the window. May stared as the others caught up. "Hey May? What'd you think about Jimmy's story?" Startled, May turned to look at them. "It's sad." she said before starting to walk around, looking for Zoey.
Leaf turned to Misty. "What's up with her?" she asked as Dawn looked on with interest. Misty shook her head and signalled she'd tell them later. The girls nodded as Zoey stepped into the room. "Hey girls!" "Hi!"
Zoey clapped her hands. "Okay, so we have 30 minutes. Let's go, go, go!" she spoke as Leaf and Dawn cheered excitedly while Misty and May just smiled; May's smile being shorter than Misty's.
"Today, we will do a colour evaluation!"
The girls were seated in different chairs as Zoey brought out piles and piles of different coloured fabrics. Twenty five minutes later, she gave each girl their colour palettes: high contrast for Dawn, low contrast for Leaf, dark colours for Misty, and vibrant colours for May. The girls smiled and thanked her as they walked outside her class and into Lyra's makeup studio.
There, they saw an auburn haired girl crying and talking with a red haired man. "It's fine. It's okay. Do you wanna go home for today?" the man asked her, turning her head slightly to face him as he rotated a couple degrees. The girls gasped silently. It was their mentors Lyra and Silver!
The girl shook her head and hugged the redheaded mentor, causing him to turn as red as his hair. "I'll go after I do the girls' makeup." she spoke, wiping her tears as she pulled back. Silver nodded solemnly. "Okay then, I'll be on my way. Call me later and I'll drop you off, kay?" Lyra smiled a little and nodded before waving.
The girls raced to Lyra, concerned. "What happened?" "Are you okay?" "Are you and Silver dating?" Everyone turned to look at Dawn. She shrugged. "What?" May sighed and shook her head. "Anyways, why're you crying?" she asked gently. Lyra rubbed her eyes. "Nothing, it's just my pet goldfish died." she spoke, her voice cracking. Leaf shushed her lightly as the others gave her sympathetic nods. Lyra took a deep breath before she relaxed into a small smile.
"Let's get going now, guys!"
A while later, the girls had all been evaluated on their skin tone, reactions, allergies, and other factors, and had now chosen their foundations and had a light makeover; not something that was fit for stage performances, but just enough to emphasize their features and stay on for the rest of the day. Leaf, Misty, and Dawn ran out the door as May simply walked, deep in thought.
The girls waved goodbye to each other as they separated into their classrooms. Dawn and Leaf slipped into their songwriting class, chatting. Their mentor, Cilan who was also Iris' boyfriend, turned to the girls, smiling. "Hello girls. Today, we will learn the components of a song."
Meanwhile, Misty and May had gone into their dance class, and were now waiting for their redheaded mentor to walk through the door. Instead, Jimmy walked in, followed by four very familiar boys, who were groaning. "Come on coach. Why're we even here?" Ash pouted. Drew rubbed his dirty cleats against the rug. "Yeah, how's this supposed to help us with soccer?"
Jimmy sighed. "Footwork, as you know, is very important in both soccer and dance. So, I decided that since my friend was busy, I'd take over his class and teach you guys something while I'm at it." he explained, motioning to the girls. The teens' jaws dropped. "You?!"
Ash walked up to Misty. "What're you guys doing here?" he asked. Drew stepped up beside him. "Yeah, I thought this was for the trainees for HP Girls?" he said, looking confused.
Misty scrunched her nose in anger as a wrinkle appeared on her forehead. "We're the trainees," she spoke through gritted teeth as May tried to calm her. The boys nodded. "Oh,"
Jimmy cleared his throat. "So, uh, let's get started, shall we?" he said as they started to choreograph a few moves. The group danced to BTBT by B.I. as they laughed and talked.
Leaf and Dawn both flipped a page as they jotted down each word coming out of Cilan's mouth. "So, let's review:
-The first part of a song is the intro. Again, it's not necessary to have one, but mist songs do,
-The second part includes all verses. These are the lyrics that may change, but have the same tune.
-Then, we have the pre-chorus. Like it's name, it comes right before the chorus, and may have changed lyrics but mostly stays the same as you will notice in most songs.
-After that, we have the chorus, which is the part that repeats and comes right after the pre-chorus
-Then, we have bridges which bring a sort of build-up or build-down towards the end
-And lastly, we have an optional dance break, that creates hype." he said as Leaf and Dawn hurried to write everything down. Just as they finished writing, Cilan's watch rang. He looked at it and then back at the girls. "Well, girls. As much fun as today was, you girls have to get to your next class, and I have to get to my date. So I'll see you later." he said as they all parted ways at the classroom door.
Leaf looked at her schedule. "I have acting next. What about you?" she asked Dawn. Dawn pulled out her phone. "I have stage presence with Marina." Leaf nodded. "See you later!" Dawn yelled, running down the hall. Leaf waved and turned to walk to her own class. "See you!"
May and Misty staggered out of class, laughing. May snorted. "Hahaha…who knew Jimmy was such a bad dancer?" Misty barked out a laugh. "I know, right?" she said, imitating a monkey to show Jimmy's dancing skills. May clutched her stomach as she laughed. Then, she smiled for the first time that day. "What class do you have?" she asked brightly. Misty silently thanked their physician for lifting May's mood. She looked at her schedule. "I have…acting with Kenny. You?" May looked at her schedule silently. "Oh. I have stage presence. See you later then." she gave her a small sad smile before turning away. Misty groaned silently as she walked to class.
The redhead entered the class and squealed as she and Leaf collided in a hug. They pulled back. "Leafy!" "Hey Mist!" "Hello, girls!" The girls sheepishly turned to see their mentor Kenny smiling at the doorway. He pushed away from the doorframe. "Ready to act?" The girls nodded.
Kenny smiled and taught them about expressions. The girls giggled as they watched their teacher make funny expressions. Soon enough, they were rolling on the floor at each others expressions while Kenny smiled proudly.
Dawn entered class, only to see May and Marina deep in conversation. Marina rubbed her arm shyly. "I don't know. What if they say no?" she asked lowly. May caressed her shoulder. "No way. If they say no, I don't know what planet they live on." she spoke firmly. Marina nodded slowly. "I'll think about it. Thanks." May smiled a small smile. "No problem." she said, turning to look at Dawn. "Hey Dawn," she said, getting back in her seat. Dawn raised an eyebrow, but greeted her anyways. Marina got up to teach them how to utilize the stage space as they watched carefully.
"Kenny Hudson to the main office please. Kenny Hudson to the main office, thank you." the voice on the speaker announced. Kenny looked at the girls. "Excuse me girls, I'll be back in a couple minutes." he said, leaving the girls as he went out the door.
Leaf turned to Misty. "Hey Mist, can I ask you something?" Misty was a little confused, but nodded nevertheless. "What's up with May today?" Leaf asked. Misty looked away. "But don't make a big deal out of it, 'Kay?" When Leaf nodded, she took a deep breath. "Her father actually sent in the documents for her to sign for-" "disowning May," Leaf breathed in realization. Her eyes widened in horror. "Oh no! How could he? That fucker! Honestly, who does that?!" she ranted. Misty nodded now angry. "I know, right?! Like you can't just-" Kenny entered the room.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back up people, what's going on here?" Leaf and Misty muttered a 'nothing' as they continued class, now in a slightly sour mood.
An hour later, the four girls bid their mentors goodbye as they headed towards their next classes. Leaf and May met up in the hall and decided to walk together to class.
Dawn and Misty went to the washroom before heading to their next class: Rap.
They entered the class and were taught about flow and speed. May and Leaf on the other hand were warming up to sing. Soon enough, they were in the studio, ready to record.
Give it up: Ariana Grande and Elizabeth Gillies

Yeah
They finished as Serena's watch rang, signalling their time with her was up. Leaf and May bid farewell to Serena and bounded out of the classroom. Leaf turned to May excitedly. "That was amazing!" she squealed. May gave her a small smile. "Yeah, sure was." she said. Leaf frowned a little, but brushed it away. Then, she realized something. "Oh no!" she exclaimed. May looked at her with a straight face. "What?"
Leaf dashed to Dawn and Misty who were heading out of their class, and said something to them before the three started running to their rooms, leaving May alone.
May looked at them weirdly, before walking to her room. As she reached her room, a raven haired boy with a red hat bumped into her. "Sorry, but do you know where Leaf Greene is?" he asked frantically. May pointed to the room across from her. The man thanked her before knocking at the door as May worked on unlocking hers.
Suddenly, she was pulled in by a hand. May was about to scream, but Misty shushed her. Looking back at the girls, she gave them a thumbs before-"BOO!" they yelled as they pushed the door open, scaring the hell out of May and the man. The man looked up. "Leafy!" The brunette smiled. "Hey Red!" she hugged her brother.
He smiled. "Come on! I wanna show you my university campus and my friends!" he said, dragging her as her friends followed.
They soon reached a field with many students playing soccer. Red waved over a familiar brunet. "Hey Gary!" he said as the girls' eyes widened. Gary?
The spiky haired brunet jogged up to Red. "Hey man! So, who did you want me and the guys to-Leaf?" Leaf waved shyly. "Hi there, Gary." Red looked confused as Drew, Ash, and Paul approached. Paul stepped forward. "Dude, why'd you stop practicing?" he said, looking at Gary sternly. Gary motioned in front of him to Leaf, who waved. Paul looked to her right, and sure enough, Dawn was standing there, in conversation with Lucas, one of the hottest players on the team. Lucas seemed to be hitting on her, which made Paul even more mad. Luckily, he had a trick up his sleeve. "Oh. Troublesome's here too." he said nonchalantly. Dawn whipped around to face him. "OH. NO. YOU. DIDN'T. IT'S DAWN YOU IDIOT! HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MEMORIZE A FOUR LETTER NAME?" she yelled as Paul smirked, pleased with himself.
Ash smiled and walked up to Misty as they started conversing about sports. Drew smirked and approached May as she puffed out her cheeks in order to look mad and save herself from blushing. He looked so hot covered in sweat from all the practice. Drew poked her cheek and they both burst out laughing, for absolutely no reason. What about Lucas? Well, you see, he felt super awkward, so he just left with his friends Conway, Rudy, Brendan, and Barry.
Rudy glared at Ash from a few feet away. Brendan clenched and unclenched his fists as he walked away. Lucas seemed uncaring as he practiced his kicks. Conway kept looking at the girls' butt and boobs. Barry looked longingly at Dawn, glaring at Paul whenever he came into view.
The group though, didn't seem to mind the unwanted glares as they talked. An hour later, the girls bid the boys goodbye as they headed back to the studio. May's mood dropped low once again as she remembered the letter that had been sent to her earlier. Dawn put a hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong, May?" she asked gently. May looked up. "My dad…He…" she whimpered. Dawn wrapped her in a hug. "Shh…" May enveloped her arms around the younger bluenette's shoulders. "He disowned me…" She sobbed. Dawn froze. "He what?!" she screamed pulling back, enraged as Misty and Leaf watched the scene sadly. "How dare he?!" she shrieked.
May wiped her tears. "It's fine. Let's just go back." she said as she pushed in front of Misty and Leaf and ran to her next class.
May slipped into bed, tears tracing paths down her cheeks as she put a pillow over her face. A soft ring caused her to pause as she turned her attention towards the phone. Who could it be? Misty, Dawn, and Leaf were all asleep already. May picked up her phone and smiled uncontrollably as she saw the text was from her favourite grasshead.
Hey. I know this is sudden, but I wanted to see if you wanted to go out for coffee tomorrow?
May smiled giddily as she ran her fingers against the phone screen. Sure, I'd love to! She put her phone away and turned around. That night, she slept with the widest smile on her face as she fantasized about her 'date' with Drew the next day.
