A/N The inspiration for the baby comes from two Star Trek episodes. The Star Trek: Voyager episode Child's Play, where the crew discover that Icheb's parents designed him to be a weapon and the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Unnatural Selection, in which bio engineered children have an aggressive immune system that makes them dangerous to regular humans. I'm not going in the same direction those episodes did, just using the basic premise and extrapolating a new direction. The baby's immune system ability is based off of a known ability of the Ancients and will not be known about for awhile. Warning: the baby was created by an unethical scientist and what he did to her is nothing less then abuse at best, torture at worst. But it will get better for her, I promise.

McKay was studying the database in the lab, while Carson was attempting to monitor the baby with his own equipment. Cordelia was anxiously hovering over the pod. She wanted to pick the baby up and cuddle her and make sure she was alright. Xander was standing behind her with an expression of concern, he was concerned for both the baby and Cordelia, she seemed to have gotten attached to her and they didn't know anything about her yet, they hadn't even deactivated the stasis pod, yet. For all they knew, the Ancients may have put her in stasis because she had a disease they couldn't cure and were eventually hoping to have a treatment for. Suddenly McKay started cursing, long and thoroughly.
"What is it, Rodney?" Elizabeth said, concerned herself. While McKay could be volatile, he rarely swore.
"The scientist who had this lab is the kind that gives all scientists a bad name. The baby was engineered. Created from genes from hundreds of different Ancients, with some of the genes being tweaked. She was designed to be a weapon."
"How can a baby be a weapon?" Sheppard asked, astonished.
"She was designed to kill Wraith. The scientist's goal was to have a Wraith feed on her and go back to his hive, where they have sleeping areas. Those sleeping areas have connectors that join them to their hive. It's how they can hibernate. It's like being in a womb, there's an exchange of fluids, the hive provides nurishment and removes waste products. The scientist wanted to introduce a pathogen that could kill the Wraith. It didn't work, he never figured out why. But the worst part is, he let captured Wraith feed on her, Wraith after Wraith, in an effort to introduce his pathogen. The Wraith would stop and say, 'it tastes bad' or a varient and refuse to keep feeding. Consequently, she didn't age the way victims normally would. But they still established that initial connection. God, the pain, from that initial connection. And he notes, that fifty different captured Wraith were allowed to try to feed on her. He just refers to the baby as 'it'. He created the baby for the sole purpose of the experiment. He cared nothing for the baby. There's not even any mention in here of her gender. Repeated failure led to him shutting down the project, putting the baby in stasis and forgetting about her. He notes the date he put the baby in stasis. We know the date of the Ancients evacuation of Atlantis. The baby was in there for more then ten years before the evacuation and he never revisited the project. He went on to other projects. Atlantis has been the only thing looking after this baby since she was put in stasis. "
"What happened to the Wraith?" Sheppard asked, feeling a burn of anger in his belly.
"Released and monitored with trackers piggy backed onto nanite cells. Some of the nanites ended up in the hive systems and he was able to continue tracking them. His pathogen never worked. Both Wraith and the hives were unaffected. And given that they hibernate, it seems to have never been effective. Even after 10,000 years, the Wraith are still here and still fine. The baby was created and suffered for nothing."
"We have to get her out of there!" Cordelia exclaimed, anxiously.
"Aye, Elizabeth. We can't just leave this baby in here." Carson said. "I can't even do a real evaluation on her, while she's in this pod. We need to move her to the infirmary and do an evaluation there."
"Can we disconnect the pod without harming the baby and move it to the infirmary? Some caution is warranted here." Elizabeth said. "Just because his pathogen didn't work on the Wraith, doesn't mean it wouldn't affect humans. We need to remove the baby under controlled circumstances. Hazmat suits, etc."
"Aye, we can do that." Carson agreed.
"Zalenka and I should be able to disconnect it from Atlantis without any problems."
"Why don't we ask Atlantis to help with that?" Xander suggested.
"Oh, that's right. You're the High Councilor now, you can do stuff like that." McKay glared at him again, still annoyed at having been locked out of the system for awhile.
"Go ahead." Elizabeth answered.
"Atlantis." Xander called into the air.
The hologram appeared again. "Yes, Captain Harris?"
"Can this status pod be safely disconnected from your systems without harming the occupant?"
"For a time. It has an independent power supply. Shall I disconnect it?"
Elizabeth nodded at Xander and Xander said. "Yes, please disconnect the stasis pod from your systems."
Once Atlantis had done that, Xander said. "Thank you, Atlantis and thank you for caring for the baby."
"It is among my functions to monitor all of those within Atlantis."
"Nonetheless, thank you for doing it."
"Acknowledged." The hologram said, and disappeared again.
"It doesn't have the self awareness to understand what you said or why, but it was deserved." McKay told him.
