The Daily Lives of The Owl Familia: P2 When the Truth Comes Light

Summary: Luz and Amity gave chase after Jacob kidnap King.

Despite what the residents of Gravesfield believed, Jacob Hopkins wasn't a moron. He knew the truth; witches and demons were real! And in their plans to take human teeth, the witches had been slowly corrupting his town!

He has seen the corruption firsthand; he caught a demon a few months ago only to have the local vet save it. When he told the town about this, everyone laughed at him, and some even called him the black sheep of the Blacklight/Hopkins family.

But Jacob was determined; he wasn't going to let some ridicule stop him from exposing the truth!

Since he knew how the demons came to his town and was taking a "leave" from work, he began camping near the old Wittebane cabin. After months of waiting, his patience fully paid off. The witches and their human pets emerged from the cabin and headed into town.

Jacob followed them while keeping out of sight, waiting for the perfect moment to make his move.

Luck was with the human; after the witches made their human pet give them money, the group broke into two groups, and he followed the younger witches. He watched them for a few minutes and made his move when they were leaving a coffee shop.

He barreled into the three teenagers and knocked them to the ground. He then grabbed the smallest one and bolted.

"LUZ!" he heard the demon scream and covered his mouth.

He heard one of the witches scream something but ignored it as he made a left turn at an intersection. It was late in the morning on a Sunday, so Jacob knew that church was close to ending. He figured that was the best place to expose the witches and demons, both in the eyes of the people and the almighty above.

"How is running so fast!" Luz growled in frustration.

"Forget about that!" Amity retorted.

Though, the young witch wouldn't deny her own frustrations. The human didn't look that fit, but he was somehow able to keep ahead of an ex-athlete and a girl who spent her first few months on the Boiling Isles running for her life.

Amity thought about using some abomination on the human but quickly decided against that idea. She didn't know how many humans were watching, so she didn't even risk using bard magic.

So, that begs the question of what to do now.

Amity got an idea when she saw Jacob turn a corner and nearly lost his balance.

"Luz!" The tri-track student called, "I have an idea!"

The human witch looked at her fiancee and saw she was spinning a circle close to her chest. Luz trusted Amity and nodded.

She looked ahead as Amity put some Abomination goo under Luz's and her feet. When the two rolled the corner, they surfed on the goo under their feet. This allowed them to keep their momentum and started to close the gasp.

Amity kept the abomination goo under her and Luz's feet. This cut down on friction and allowed them to get close to Jacob. With a small cry, the young witch used her abomination to springboard into the air.

Jacob was tackled from behind, and King went flying as the human fell to the ground. The young titan groaned as he rolled across the street, coming to a stop a short distance away from the human and watch.

"KING!" Luz screamed as she ran past Jacob and Amity.

She suddenly stopped when she stepped on something that went crush. Luz didn't need to look down to know she had just stepped on King's stone because she was looking at her little brother with wide eyes.

The young titan rubbed his head and wondered, not for the first time, how his head could hurt when it was made out of bone. He suddenly heard gasps and looked at the crowd staring at him with wide eyes and open mouths.

"Umm, hi," King said awkwardly and waved.

King felt a pit forming in his stomach when he saw his fur-covered claw and realized he lost his concealment stone. He could hear the humans start murmuring to themselves, and you didn't need to be an oracle to know most were looking at him with confusion.

Luz quickly ran up to King and picked him up. Some of the residents of Gravesfield began coming towards the two, and Luz took a step back. The human witch looked around, trying to find an exit route before things got too heated.

Luck wasn't with the human witch today as Jacob elbowed Amity in the side hard enough to knock the wind out of her. He pushed her off him and jumped to his feet.

"See!" Jacob screamed, pointing at the titan in the human's arm. "Demons are real! And look!"

Jacob grabbed Amity, who was just getting her second wind and pulled her to her feet. He grabbed a fist full of hair and pulled it back, exposing her right pointed ear.

"This one isn't human either!" Jacob screamed, pushing Amity before him so the residents could get a good look. "Don't you see, I was right! Witches and demons have been real this whole time! And they're here to harvest our teeth to power their time machines!"

Luz held King tighter as more murmuring filled the air. She saw that the residents' confusion was turning to fear, and more people were starting to advance on her.

She was almost ready to have Stringbean, hidden in her hood, turn into a staff so she could fly away.

"Jacob! Stop scaring everyone with your nonsense!" a voice suddenly said commandingly.

Well Folks, the secret is out, but maybe the "mysterious" person could help change Gravesfield's view on Witches. Or could Jacob somehow make it worse?
