A New Story

The crisp winter air bit at Ojiru's nose as he stood and marvelled at the prestigious academy, a rouge gust of wind tousled his already messy snow-white hair, only further highlighting his pitch-black horns. The boy's crimson gaze gulped at the sight of other middle schoolers swarming the site, like moths to a flame. A familiar stirring in his gut pulled him from his musings, causing him to grimace in annoyance.

"You okay Oji?" A tall, blonde-haired boy asked him, "It's not too late to do the recommendation exam.".

Ojiru turned to meet his companion's big blue eyes, silently cursing at the fact he had to crane his neck due to his short stature, "N-No, I'll be fine.".

"I know you don't like cro-" The blonde was interrupted by another blonde, this time a shorter girl however, Ojiru still had to look up at her.

"He said he's fine, idiot, don't doubt him!" She snapped at the boy, whose demeanour completely shifted once she spoke.

"We need to know our little brother is OK, Karui, he is known to lie about his feelings to make us feel at ease, which is bad for him." He explained, a tick appearing on his forehead.

"Well, Akasu, our little brother also isn't a liar, so shut up!" Karui shouted as if that was a valid argument, drawing other examinees' attention as she did so.

"Stop making a scene, Karui," Akasu growled, his annoyance at his twin sister growing ever larger.

"You're making a scene!" She argued in self-ignorance, Ojiru's face slowly began to heat up as the two bickered.

"You should just go before this moron makes a fool of herself." The horned boy's brother plainly stated, ignoring the other blonde's screeching.

Ojiru quickly scurried off at top speed, hearing snickering from his sister's 'Onee chan believes in you!', god, he just wanted the ground to swallow him. That wish almost became reality as the boy tripped over his foot, slamming straight into the back of someone.

"Watch it, Dumbass!" She barked, turning around to glare at the small boy with her piercing green eyes, she had waist-length jet-black hair and towered over him by at least half a foot. Her uniform clung to her muscles, barely holding together, showing she could easily crush Ojiru if she felt like it.

"S-Sorry," He squeaked before hurrying off to the exam hall, dangerously close to pissing himself after the girl's intimidating display. Looking around, Ojiru finally managed to find his seat, number 2378, and tried to do some breathing exercises to calm himself, unfortunately, the ever-growing amount of people funnelling into the room made his attempts completely null.

"They will find you"

The boy's palms started to sweat and his eyes began to dart around the room.

"What made you think you were safe?"

His foot was unconsciously tapping the floor rapidly, shaking as he did so.

"They'reherethey'reherethey'reherethey'reherethey'reherethey'reherethey'reherethey'rehe-"

"Are you okay?" A boy's voice asked from Ojiru's side, regretfully making him squeak. Turning to look at the boy, he saw he had sandy blonde hair styled in a mid-length mullet and had a face on par with a supermodel, his beady brown eyes stared expectantly for a reply.

"Y-Yes, I-I'm just a l-little nervous." Although this wasn't the full truth, Ojiru wasn't raring to out himself as a freak who hears voices in his head just yet.

"Yeah, I get what you're sayin', I was almost crappin' my pants when I got to the gate." He chuckled, clearly not noticing how not okay the other boy was, "Name's Utsukushi Sunahito, Nice te meetcha.".

"I-I'm Ojiru H-Hogaraka, nice to m-meet you a-also!" Ojiru stammered, not expecting introductions so quickly.

Sunahito let out a low hum, rubbing his chin before he spoke, "Ain't you related to that Pro Hero? Teli-something.".

"T-Teliku, yes, s-she's my m-mother." Ojiru felt the people around him turn as he said this, drawing a little unwanted attention.

"Damn, must be cool havin' a Pro for a Mom," He said, leaning back into his chair and putting his hands behind his head, "My Ma is just a normal accountant.".

"N-Not really, she c-can't go o-out without being r-recognised." The number of times they had been at a family dinner and had a 'Super Fan' run up for a photo was getting far too high.

"Wow, I never thought 'bout it like that." The tanned boy replied a woman's voice suddenly came over an intercom.

"Could everyone please prepare for the Hero course written exam, thank you." Just then a pen and calculator came from inside a desk and small robots began to distribute the written exams.

"Well good luck on the exam, lord knows I'll need it." Sunahito quipped before going to focus on the exam in front of him. Ojiru would be lying if he said he hated the boy, but he couldn't fully trust him, it was just his personality.

Three Hours Later

Ojiru rested his face on the desk in front of him to nurse his poor brain after the assault on his intelligence, the lights then dimmed as he looked up towards the stage as a giant screen lit up. The sound of heels clacking against the floor reverberated through the echoey auditorium as a ginger-haired woman with bright teal eyes walked across the stage towards the centre.

She wore a black corset over a short kimono that matched her eyes, a black bandana mask was wrapped around her face and she had two grey-heeled boots on her feet. The woman held herself with an unseen air of confidence that Ojiru could only awe at in admiration, she swung her hips as she came into view, and grabbing the microphone she spoke, "Welcome to UA!".

The crowd went wild, cheers and whoops filling the void of silence that was in the hall, "Alright! I'll get straight on with the rules!" She laughed. The woman in question was the Pro-Hero Battle Fist, one of the top twenty-five best Heroes in the entire country, you couldn't walk through a city without seeing a billboard of her promoting a beauty product, Ojiru was vividly aware of every detail of all the top 100 pro's, which often got him the title of fanboy.

"OhmygodohmygodohmygoditsBattleFist! Shehasover50,000villaintakedownsoverherentirecareerandhasbeenactiveonover23,000disaterzones-" Ojiru was cut off by a bark of laughter from Sunahito, quickly clasping a hand over his mouth.

"So you're a fanboy! Don't worry, I don't judge." The blonde's grin made Ojiru severely doubt the truth behind his words, settling on going back to focusing on the presentation.

"So you guys are all going to be split up into busses and sent into a mock city, where you will all face four different types of robots. Each robot will be worth from one to three points, apart from the zero pointer, which is mostly just an obstacle." Battle Fist explained, four silhouettes appeared on the screen behind her with the points they were worth displayed underneath.

"You will all have ten minutes to destroy as many robots as you can, but remember, attacking other examinees is a big nono." A small cartoon of someone being attacked popped up on the screen. "I'm pretty sure that's it! Good luck out there kids! And remember, Go Beyond..." Battle Fist paused for the teens to follow up.

"PLUS ULTRAAAA!" It could be heard across the entire campus as the kids celebrated.

Ojiru stood in front of the behemoth of a mock city, gawking at its sheer size while he slowly began to panic as he realised that the test was almost upon him. Every little noise sent his brain spiralling, thinking it was the beginning of the test.

"Calm yourself, Boy, panicking will do you no good" A deep, gruff voice echoed through his brain, momentarily making him pause and reflect on himself. s

"Yeah, you're right, I shouldn't tear my hair out over things like this. I'm sure the test will be fi-" Ojiru's rambling was interrupted by a loud voice coming over the speakers and the doors swinging open.

"GOOOOO!" The teens stood in a stupor before an orange-haired boy rocketed off into the examination site, a few others following suit, "What are you all standing there for?! Get moving!". Soon, Ojiru was caught up in a mob of examinees trying to shove their way through the streets of the test site, desperate to get any form of points.

"Tacho!" He cried, focusing the energy of his quirk into his legs, which immediately buffed up to an almost grotesque size, growing by almost five inches, and allowing him to launch off at top speed to gain some distance between himself and other examinees. Feeling his lungs giving out, Ojiru released his hold on the power, allowing his legs to shrink back to normal size as he made it over 100 meters from the rest of the pack.

Suddenly, Ojiru was yanked back as a metallic fist whizzed past his face, the horned boy stumbled as he caught a glimpse of the pitch-black tentacle receding into his shadow. "Stay vigilant, your body is strong, but metal is stronger." A feminine voice called from the deep recesses of his mind, like a fleeting thought.

"Sorry Thal," He apologized, squaring up against the two-pointer that he was now very aware of, he once again summoned his power, this time directing it towards his fingertips. Ojiru then rushed the large metal beast who swung his fist towards him in the exact same fashion as last time, "Enochlo!" The boy chanted, suddenly ducking under the mech's fist and grazing his fingers across the cold, green, metal.

As the robot turned to attack him again its right arm began to split, the limb unknitting itself from the original, ending in another component fully formed next to the original. The robot's balance was thrown off by the weight of the extra body part, sending it sprawling across the street into the side of a building, crushing its head and making it disengage.

"Two points!" Ojiru cheered, running off to find more robots. In no time the boy managed to find a new group of robots, this one consisting of three one-pointers and a three-pointer. He quickly dispatched the one-pointers, using an enhanced leg to smash through the skull of the first one then redirecting the second one to smash into the third by following a similar method to his first battle.

Just as he destroyed the final robot by stomping on its skull, the hulking frame of the three-pointer loomed over him, managing to catch him off guard and smash him into a lampost. While trying to recover from the blow, the three-pointer threw another cataclysmic punch towards the boy, it was too slow however, Ojiru bellowed "Galo!" and his fist enlarged to triple it's size, quickly catching the attack that was coming.

Using his enlarged hand, Ojiru crushed the three-pointer's fist, allowing it to pull away from the boy's mighty grip and launch a series of missiles at him. Ojiru dodged the missiles with a quick roll and made a B-line straight for the robot, not giving it any time to escape he hauled himself up the machine's frame and swung his still giant fist straight at its head, which went flying down the street and through a shop window.

"Seven minutes remaining!" A voice echoed over the intercom, reminding Ojiru that he only had a meagre eight points, causing him to barrel towards the nearest robot to kill.

Three minutes and twelve points later, Oujiru was getting worried. He needed at least thirty points to pass the exam, and that was stretching it, but the number of robots in the area was dwindling and people had begun to fight over points. Thankfully, he managed to find another three-pointer, which he managed to defeat after denting its armour with an enhanced kick and then disorienting it by creating a wave of clones to give out light attacks while he enlarged his hand for a finishing blow to the abdomen.

"23 points... I need to be faster! Tacho!" He panted, activating his quirk and jetting off towards another bot. Right as he was about to swing at the machine, a gigantic hand pushed through the road, crushing the two-pointer instantly. Slowly, the titanic mech dragged itself out of the ground, ripping up telephone wires and parts of buildings as it extended to its full height, which was well over ten stories.

Ojiru could only watch in horror as the beast loomed over him, too afraid to move, until a sudden cry came from behind him, activating him and the rest of the crowd's fight-or-flight responses. Ojiru tried to summon any amount of strength he had left to increase his speed, but his energy was completely spent and he could barely keep himself in a straight line.

Unfortunately, due to his small height, the horned boy was quickly trampled by the other participants, some turned to help him, but they were swept away by the masses. Ojiru found himself tripping up and smashing his face off the ground, busting his lip and causing his nose to bleed, he turned to face the goliath that was quickly approaching him.

The boy resigned himself to his fate of pancaking, not even bothering to try and crawl and using up his last embers of energy, the mech slowly raised its fist and brought down, "Yeah, I'm done," He managed to croak out. Just before he was ground into a fine paste, a large white dragon intercepted the strike, it was in the form of a traditional Chinese dragon, but had shiny white scales and it all had a thick black outline.

"Dammit, man! Get up!" A familiar voice called, Ojiru turned his head to be met by s pair of piercing green eyes, it was the scary girl from earlier! But now she had a dragon coming from her arm, "Are you deaf?!".

"Y-You should g-go, i-it i-isn't safe here." The girl seemed to be stunned into silence for a moment.

"How fucking stu-OOF!" She was swept off her feet as her dragon was caught by the massive robot. Ojiru could only watch in horror as the machine began to reach its massive hand towards the girl, presumably to crush her.

Everything in Ojiru's mind went silent as he saw this happen, his eyes drinking in every detail, "You did this..." A deep, menacing voice spoke from the depths of his brain. "You will get her killed." The horned boy felt a large hand grab his shoulder, a shot of phantom pain flying down his nerves, "Can you accept that?".

Oujiru snapped out of his stupor and jumped to his feet, filled with new vigour in a mix of adrenaline and fear, "Tera!" He screamed, catching the machine's gaze, along with everyone else's. Power flooded his body as he felt his body changing; his fingers sharpened into claws and his teeth into fangs, his body buffed up as his skin turned into a pitch-black shade, he shot up to around seven feet tall, and his horns grew longer and more demon-like.

The monster released a huge roar, launching itself at the mech's arm with reckless abandon, ripping and tearing at its arm in a savage display of strength. One final slash had the arm completely severed, falling to the floor with a mighty crash, shaking the streets. The machine dropped the black-haired girl as it honed in on its newest target, Ojiru.

"You can run now!" She called back, to no response.

Ojiru grabbed the giant metallic limb, lifting it above his head with an inhuman amount of strength, he then flung it upwards towards the robot's head, successfully making contact and caving in the front of its skull. There was a moment of stillness, then the machine began to creak and groan as it tipped backwards, falling onto the streets below with a thunderous crash.

"And the test is over! Please make your way towards the busses orderly, thank you for partaking in this year's entrance exam!" A woman's voice announced over the intercom, signifying the end of the test.

Ojiru's monstrous form slowly started to shrink back down to its original size, his horns shortened, claws blunted, and his kind returned to its previous state of ghostly pale. What was different was the sheer amount of bruises that the boy had, although there was nothing worse than a sprained ankle, the amount of deep purple bruises and even a few hematomas was enough to at least raise a few eyebrows.

Ojiru tried to limp his way back to the bus, but the large crowd that covered the streets made it almost impossible for someone of his size to do so, "You should go to the nurse, she'll get you patched up.". The horned boy looked up to see another giant boy with spikey amethyst hair and baby-blue eyes, what was it with this school and tall people?

"N-No, I w-will b-be alright." Well not 'alright', but good enough to pass off as an injury from the exam.

"Did someone say nurse?" A woman, around her early 20's, with long white hair and red eyes with a singular horn sticking out of her forehead, looking almost too similar to Ojiru.

"Yeah, this guy needs healing." The purplette said, completely ignoring Ojiru's apprehension.

"N-No, I'm f-fine, r-rea-" He didn't get another chance to speak as the woman was already rushing at him, panic clear in her eyes. Unfortunately, Ojiru wasn't all too fond of doctors, reflexively summoning his Quirk to protect him. Suddenly a nearly 11-foot monster with giant bulging muscles and almost completely comprised of shadow, only his intimidating red eyes having any colour at all.

The large monster quickly whipped around, crouching down to be at eye level with the boy, "Calm yourself!", it scolded before slinking back into his shadow. Ojiru felt heat crawl up his face as he fully processed the situation, his own Quirk had just told him off in front of a crowd of people. He heard snickering in the crowd, his gaze snapping to the source, it was the scary girl.

The boy was now at sub-zero levels of confidence, even the girl he got injured for was laughing at him. "Can I treat you now?" The white-haired woman asked, slowly moving closer to him, Ojiru recognised her now, she was the Rewinding Hero: Erewind, he apprehensively nodded, extending his hand to her, "So I take it you know how my Quirk works, a fan perhaps?" She smirked.

"Y-You could s-say t-that." Truth be told when he had discovered that there was a hero with an almost eerie resemblance to him and a mysterious past, he had done some extensive research to look for any possible relation to him, sadly, that wasn't the case. The woman began to use her Quirk, Rewind, on the boy, who watched in awe as his skin reverted to how it had been before the exam before a huge wave of fatigue hit him.

"What does that mean?" The purple-haired boy asked, spooking Ojiru since he thought he had left.

"N-Nothing!" He squeaked, beginning to scurry his way back to the busses, unfortunately for Ojiru, this boy was very persistent, following him onto the bus and even sitting next to him.

"Why do you walk so fast? Aren't you tired?" He continued to pepper his horned acquaintance with questions.

"So I-I can go p-places fast..." Although it was a poor answer, Ojiru really didn't know what else the purple-haired boy wanted.

"Hmm, I see... is there any particular reason you want to go places fast?" Wow, this guy really likes talking! Many questions such as this one and many awkward, short answers were traded throughout the short seven-minute bus ride back to the main campus, almost completely draining the small boy's social battery.

Getting changed as quickly as possible, Ojiru lethargically walked out of the prestigious University, ready to completely pass out as soon as he found his siblings. Speaking of which, he managed to spot them at the gate, Karui waving animatedly as Akasu only shook his head in shame at his sister. "Oji! How was the exam?!" She asked, much akin to a guardian meeting a child after their first day of school.

"Quiet down Karui, he's probably tired." Akasu scolded her, turning to face the girl as they began to bicker again, one of many daily arguments.

Ojiru was almost ready to fall asleep when he felt a strong push against his back, sending him sprawling to the floor, "Outta my way Numbnuts." He heard a hostile, female voice grunt from behind him.

Both of his siblings immediately ceased their arguments as they appeared by his side, helping him to his feet and verbally pouncing on the girl. "What's your problem? Do you enjoy everyone thinking you're a bitch?" Karui snapped, grabbing the delinquent's arm.

"At least I don't look like some dumb bimbo!" She barked back, matching the venom in her voice.

"I'm okay, can we please just go home." Ojiru just blankly responded, not wanting to cause a further scene.

"Bu-! Ugh, fine." Karui huffed, beginning to sulk as they walked away. Luckily, Akasu offered to give Ojiru a piggyback all the way home, so he didn't have to spend any more energy on walking. The horned boy found his eyes growing heavy as his mind battled against sleep, ultimately losing and drifting off into a deep slumber.

A scrawny, malnourished child sat in the corner of a plain, white room, faint whimpers came from it as it just stayed there, unmoving. The room was engulfed in an inky black shadow, the one light that hung from the ceiling had long been smashed and was now inoperable, on the walls were drawings of black figures, unintelligible scribbles to be more accurate, barely even resembling a human.

Scattered across the floor were multiple different toys, crayons, and pieces of paper, however, there was nothing else, no drawers, no windows, and least of all a bed. The sound of screams could be heard reverberating through the halls of the facility, causing the child to curl up even tighter as if they wanted to implode in on themself, knowing they were next up for that exact torture.

"You're pathetic."

"Not even able to protect yourself, truly a sorry sight."

"Shut up..." The boy whispered in a weak attempt to save his image.

"You dare speak up to me? While you sit crying in a cell."

"It's your fault I'm here!" He shouted, his voice hoarse from dehydration, something he could only keep up for another few hours.

"Maybe if you weren't so useless, Mother wouldn't have left us here."

A new wave of tears began to roll from the child's eyes as the voice's words cut into their soul. All sound from the boy ceased, however, when the screaming stopped and the sound of shoes clacking across the floor began to reverberate around the halls. "Hmm, O-791 has been making progress, perhaps I should give him a visit." A low voice came from the hall.

The boy froze as the sound of footsteps got louder, and louder, and louder until it was just outside the imposing metal door of his prison. He began to hyperventilate, focusing on the jingle of keys that was coming from the other side of the door, his fear culminating as it stopped. The click of the door unlocking filled the air as it slowly began to open.

A skinny man with blue eyes and pepper grey hair stood there, a lab coat draped over his surprisingly small form, a sick grin was plastered across his face as he saw the scared child.

"How have you been, Ojiru?".
