Chapter 43
Yua was surprised to how fast Suiryu and D'angelo worked. Everything was set up in no time, D'angelo's familiars worked hard to achieve this. "We may not like Sukuna, however, since it's for a Tooru, we are more than happy to help." One explained to her.
Apparently her family name still carries weight.
Everything was ready in about three hours, there was enough time for everyone to have a robe made for the wedding as well as a feast for later. Suiryu kept checking his phone for any update from Suguru, but none were to be found. Instead, Mechamaru kept them posted since he had surveillance all over Japan.
"We got to give credit where it's due here. Sukuna looks like he is aware something is going on, but unsure as to what. Suguru is really playing the part well!" he explained.
Yua snickered to that.
"WHY DO I HAVE TO WEAR THIS?!"
She turned as Gojo was protesting in wearing the ridiculously big robe meant for Sukuna. But his was a light blue with a feather pattern on it.
"It's a good fit for you!" she said.
He pouted. "When are we changing back? This is getting weird!"
"I don't have the jujutsu to turn you back!" she protested, "Also, you know I am pregnant, so…" she said in a hinting tone.
He still sneered at the notion.
With everything in place, all they had to do was wait. By 4 o'clock, a daemon gate opened… and Sukuna stumbled into the domain once more in his wedding robe.
After his freak out and suspicion, he turned to her for a true answer.
Yua explained it really was his wedding, since Lady Tiamat insisted that she officiate it.
Lady Tiamat herself was gorgeous.
She wore a long, lavishing white dress with gently frilled edges on her sleeves. In truth she appeared to be draped in silver silk that highlighted her body.
She peered over at Toji whose eyes were turning green at the sight of her. In fact his eyes altered to that of a dragon as he stared at her.
Everyone paused awkwardly as a deep, resonating growl came from Toji!
She gave a playful wink back and mouthed 'later'.
"I don't want to know…" Gojo muttered.
Then, the ceremony started.
Toshi played his shamisen. Everyone turned and saw Chusi being walked down by Suguru of all people! She wore bright red and gold junihitoe. A twelve layer kimono not known for comfort but for high society. Yua smiled as she walked down to the alter in it. Despite the fact this clothing is suppose to be uncomfortable, she wore it with ease and proudly. Yua also noticed within the layers of clothing were other colors. Some that were on Sukuna's garb and other… she was certain they had meaning to but wasn't known yet.
Suguru brought her up to the alter, then he excused himself and sat on the right side across from Yua and Gojo.
Sukuna… was red in the face, sweating buckets!
"I've never seen him nervous before…" Gojo whispered. "This is the best!"
"Hush!" she scolded.
"You two, kneel." Lady Tiamat ordered.
They came before her and knelt.
This wasn't going to be a normal wedding by any means!
In fact, Lady Tiamat took out a sword. The same one Sukuna had made before and gave to Yua to use against him when he began to regain his sanity. Lady Tiamat held it in her hands now and she aimed it to his chin! "You must know this sword by now, right, Ryomen?" Lady Tiamat asked.
"I do," he said.
"What is the significance of this sword?"
"It was to show my sincerity, to show I was willing to die as a form of payment to the Tooru family for all that I have taken!" he said.
"And what of it now? What is the purpose of this sword?"
He peered up, looking her dead in the eyes and said. "To ensure that my sincerity remains true."
She smiled to him and lowered the sword.
"Marriage is many things. It can be the best thing to happen to you, and it can be the worst. For you are tied to one being to be your wife or husband, and if something were to happen to them, you have lost that part of yourself. However, those who are committed to their bond, understand that they are to work together with the one they love to achieve and reach their goals together. Even if one were to fall out of their lives, they won't be forgotten. And yet, there are instance where they grow apart. They no longer wish to be with one another. But that is not the case here."
Lady Tiamat smiled as she turned to Suiryu and Nobara.
"As upset are you are to the existence of Suiryu, you owe him a debt of gratitude, Sukuna. For when he was still a part of you, he sought out Chusi who had been reborn as Nobara. Despite everything, when you were of a clear mind… you still sought her out despite all others."
Sukuna turned and stared at Suiryu with a bewildered look. Apparently the notion never struck him!
"Even now, after everything that has happened, everything you have endured up until now… and what you have caused… has come to this point. Now then, let's make certain of this…" Lady Tiamat turned to Chusi. "My dear, you kneel before me with Ryomen Sukuna who you wish to take as your husband, is this true?"
She was in tears, Chusi could barely keep it together but nodded. "Yes," she said. "I have always wanted to…"
"Then do you promise me to be his wife? Take responsibility for him, be what you need him to be and understand that the man beside you despite his appearance now is not who he really is, but you accept him…"
"YES!" she said proudly. "I gladly accept him!"
"No shocker there," muttered Satoru.
That comment deserved a firm elbow to Satoru's ribs.
Lady Tiamat then turned to Yua. "Yua, please join me for a moment?"
She nodded and obliged.
Approaching the alter, Lady Tiamat returned the sword Sukuna wanted her to use on him. "I think you know what to do…"
Yua didn't, but, she also felt oddly guided by this.
She took the sword and held the tip under Sukuna's chin. It startled him as he looked into her eyes. "I will accept that you are Chusi's husband from this moment on, however. I have yet to accept you into my clan. You have done much to damage it, to destroy it with your own hands. At the same time, knowing your past, as well as the true puppet master at work. I won't hold you completely accountable for my clan's demise. But, I will not acknowledge you yet… which means there is still hope for you." She lowered her sword.
Yua turned to Chusi. "I won't let love blind you, nor will I allow him to break your heart." She decreed.
Chusi wept but nodded and mouthed thank you.
Yua sat back down as Lady Tiamat smiled. "I do believe we need to adjust a few things…"
Click!
The dog collar Sukuna wore… dropped off his neck.
"You are still bounded to my sons, however, I won't allow you to be humiliated like that any longer. Besides, you are trading one collar for another…"
The two jumped. Yua could see Chusi lift her left hand, and a curse mark came on her ring finger. Sukuna too. "I bind you two now, as husband and wife. I acknowledge your union and all here as well. Chusi Tooru, Ryomen Sukuna you may kiss and seal your marriage."
They stood up once more. Sukuna was nervous again and then… he must have hit a Gojo moment. He pulled her closer to himself and planted the biggest kiss on her lips and even gently dipped her!
When he let go, Chusi was smiling and crying at the same time.
They are officially husband and wife!
