Chapter 2
Today was the day. The sky was a dreary gray, perfect to reflect today. I had been transferred to the fucking restoration department. It was in the basement of Yae Publishing House. As I descended into the stairwell, I wasn't sure what to expect. Of course I knew I would be repairing old books and papers, but I knew nothing besides that.
When I dragged my feet through the door I was greeted with a facefull of soft pink hair.
"MPFH-" I quickly scurried back.
My soul died and ascended straight down to hell. When she turned around to see who had run face first into her back, my stomach dropped several stories.
"You must be Bernie? My my aren't you good at making an entrance" Ms. Miko laughed lightly and bent down slightly to be at eye level with me. I could feel her eyes cynically examining me up and down, noting all my faults for later use. A red blush crept down my face from the sudden run in with Miko, the founder of Yae publishing house (her name was on the building after all).
"My apologies! I wasn't looking where I was going and It won't happen again!" I stumbled out an apology
"It's ok Bernie, but I would like you to follow me" She smirked at me slightly and led me through the winding rows of ancient books that had been preserved. We arrived at another identical gray shelf full of old shit. I knew she could see the confusion plastered across my face.
"I've got a special assignment for you, don't worry" Miko pulled a seemingly random book off the shelf.
It was about the size of my hand. The cover was an unassuming dull red with obvious wear. I could tell from looking at it that the book was very old and had a lot of history to it. There were scratches and watermarks all along the outside of the book, even a suspicious burn mark in the top left hand corner. I stared at my 'special assignment' I'm not sure what the fuck this is, but it sure didn't look special to me.
Luckily, Miko began to fill me in, "This is one of Kaedehara Kazuha's journals. I'm the only one who has even glanced inside so far. I suspect it to be an autobiography for Lavirsol."
"Who?"
"You'll see, I have a sneaking suspicion you'll grow quite attached to the two. All I ask is that you read through the journal and write me updates on your thoughts. It shouldn't be too difficult of a first assignment for this department, don't you think?" She eyed me, daring me to say yes to the seemingly very simple task
I took the book from her with two hands and flipped open to the first page. This assignment seemed too easy, surely there was more to it that she hadn't told me. I read the dedication with a layer of suspicion.
To my love, your secrets were buried deeper than the bodies you hid. I'll love you regardless.
Thank you, Kaz
Please leave a review, I love hearing your feedback and it helps me grow as a writer.
Have a nice day,
Lavirsol~
