While Light was not happy about the favour Samus asked for he was also worried about the ridiculously short ultimatum Imu had been given to the world leaders for signing their capitulation which they of course had declined. Most likely she never expected anyone to take her serious in the first place and didn't want to wait for too long to make her moves. Nothing has been made public but the politicians had been worried, especially as Light told them it was almost guaranteed that his former lab assistant surely wasn't just all bark and no bite, he was pretty sure she was capable of causing chaos with the reprogrammed robot mistresses and so the countries sent out all available Telly drones and every other satellites and monitoring devices they had control of to figure out the locations where Imu could possibly start her attacks first. As the third day was about to pass and there still had not been any news everyone was getting pretty nervous and the old man felt he could no longer refuse to do what Samus had demanded from him. Not that she could really 'demand' anything as like all the other robots she also had no free will but Light felt responsible for that whole situation and so he had to do something to stop Imu.
"You know, I really don't like putting you in danger but I feel I have to give in to your wish, but for now take this more as a precaution measure. I will give you some upgrades and turn you into a fighting robot, however, I'm not eager to send you out to the battlefield yet, do you understand?"
"Great, let's start immediately! I'm motivated to, as you humans say, kick some butts!" responded Samus overly enthusiastic. Light rolled his eyes, of course she ignored the parts about being cautious and decided to only focus on what she wanted to hear. Despite her not being aware of what she might have put herself into and what burden she might have to bear by probably fighting violence with violence, he couldn't deny that he was impressed by that strong sense of justice the blonde had shown. She was such a good girl at heart, despite her not being a real girl and also not having a heart.

When Samus opened her eyes as she got reactivated a few hours later she immediately felt different, a bit more confident, a bit more powerful.
"Thank you for accepting my idea and turning me into a fighter" she said as she gave the doctor a light smile, "what's this change of outfit good for? Not that I'm complaining, looks kinda stylish somehow, Cut Girl would approve of it, I guess."
That blue bodysuit covering over all of her body was something she could get used to.
"This suit is for your protection, while the material itself is soft and light it makes you more resistant to attacks, like some kind of armor but with the benefits of not limiting you in your movements while fighting, also reducing the amount of, well, injuries you might take."
"Nice. When you say injuries you mean damage, right?"
"Yes" answered Light with an unhappy look on his face, he always saw more than just a robot when he looked at Samus, it couldn't be helped. "The most important thing I added for you is your arm cannon on your right arm, try to transform it and you'd be able to shoot plasma bullets from it, this will be your primary way of attack!"
"Cool" stated the freshly turned fighting robot as she tried this out.
"I suggest you should start training some fighting techniques and you should take some shooting practices with your new arm cannon to get prepared for the worst" he suggested and Samus started waving around and targetting things with it.
"Not in the lab though!" Light yelled and she gave him a sheepish grin.
"Okay, better go outside then!"
And with that she ran outside, taking a few objects with her and started her training, just as her creator suggested.

As robots don't need any sleep Samus trained all night, proudly noticing that she already grew quite familiar with her arm cannon and that her accuracy had been getting better and better. Surely such incidents like those with the street lamp or that car mirror won't be happening again. When she returned to the lab at early morning and offered to make Light his coffee as usual she realized that he must have been up for quite some time already, having woken up far earlier than he normally would
"Something has happened, I can tell from the way you're acting" she informed him and the doctor told her that somewhere at the middle of the night the first reports about robots malfuctioning had been coming in. And the issues had become more and more, complaints from all over the world were gathering, making it clear that it had begun, Imu had made her first moves. It was mostly Metools and Octopus Batteries but also more dangerous machines like the Sniper Joes or Big Eyes that had gone out of control and started revolting, no pattern recognizable, it seemed the attacks were happening without a bigger scheme or plan behind it, although he feared he knew better.
"This wave of arbitrarily attacks might have been meant more like an additional warning signal to the world, unfortunately she might have planned something bigger and I doubt she will be waiting for too long."
"What about my sisters?" Samus asked.
"There were no reports about them being involved into any of the events happening so far."
"Isn't that a good thing?"
"Sooner or later they will make their appearances" Light shook his head and continued "There was an especially interesting and concerning report we received half an hour ago, it described some suspicious activites in an ammunition factory in China". His face frowned.
"They are still producing weapons? I thought the world is at peace, why would there be any need for this?"
"Unfortunately this peace is based on a shaky foundation. Actually lots of countries are still distrusting each other and continue producing weapons in secret. Sadly that's how the world works."
"So they are lying to each other after all? That sucks."
"That's politics in a nutshell I'm afraid. In the case of this ammunition factory it was an US drone that had discovered it and the chinese government would likely deny the existence of this place. By the laws of the signed contracts military interference on other countries' territories are forbidden, so they can't do much on theirselves."
"Getting to the point, this means we're at the point where I can finally be useful and go onto my first mission" Samus assumed and with a big concerned sigh the old scientist nodded.

"Not gonna lie, I'm excited to go to China" stated the blonde with a smile on her face while everything was being prepared and Light was communicating his suggestion to the higher-ups of the US army. As nobody came up with a better option they all agreed to give this a try and at the end of the day they had the permission to sent her to those coordinates.
"Don't mistake this for a vacation trip, it's a serious situation" he warned her "and be very careful, if rumors are true you will have to face several hostile robots. And in case you should meet one of your sisters you should consider to retreat and escape instead of going for an open confrontation, hope that's clear to you?"
"I'm going to talk some sense into them and convince them that they are wrong!"
Light closed his eyes when he heard this.
"You forgot, your sisters have been reprogrammed, they are forced to follow the orders of Imu from now on, not mine anymore. I doubt you would be able to make them break direct orders of their new master. Also, I hate to say it but I think in terms of fighting those models are most likely all stronger than you."
"This is something that needs to be proven first. Both of it" Samus responded with her arms crossed.
"Don't put your life at too high risks. If you feel you can't win or are about to get destroyed I want you to escape! There's also one more thing, General Hoffman insisted that you take this satellite phone with you, he wants you to contact him and confirm a robot attack after you've finished searching through that factory before you return."
"Okay, I will. If everything is said then I can start and teleport to the coordinates we've been given?"
"Be careful" was the only thing Light could say with a heavy heart before he watched her go to the teleporter.
"Don't worry, everything will be okay" the blonde assured while waving goodbye.

"What the hell are those things supposed to be and why are they looking like some gigantic lollipops?" Samus asked herself when she arrived at the ammunition factory and took a look at the scenery with all those strange mechanical towers in the background. Was that where the produced weapons were stored in? Another thing she immediately noticed after only a few seconds was that there was no human personal around at all. It was a very different vibe here than in the crowded streets of Tokyo she was used to. And then when she was about to go up a stairway she saw the first robot jumping directly into her direction. Quite shocked about that purple fleabot's sudden appearance she directly fired her arm cannon at it without second thinking. Before it could reach her it got hit by the plasma bullet and fell apart into pieces right in mid-air.
"Hope this was an intended attack indeed and not just me overreacting, otherwise I'd feel sorry for destroying you little thingy" the former housekeeping robot stated, soon realizing that there was no need to feel guilty as some more of those fleabots were coming at her, all with clearly hostile intentions and not proving to be a real match for her. So far so good. As she went on further Samus saw a few pits and as she came closer to one of them there was something rising up from it, an automatic fragmentation grenade! Oh shit! She knew that those things were some nasty weapons the humans constructed and that they would split to do as much harm as possible to everything near them. Alarmed she artistically jumped backwards but it couldn't be avoided to get hit by a few smaller shrapnels. Good thing robots can't feel pain and that she was wearing her special bodysuit! Despite that she still didn't get away completely unharmed although it was only mild damage caused to her.

Coming up next were some robots that were firing bullets in different directions but they were stationary so they couldn't move and it was not beneficial for Samus to get close and fight them, instead she calculated the positions of the safe spots where the bullets wouldn't hit her and carefully made her way around that shooting devices. Somehow she began to feel lonely as other than herself there was no robot with real intelligence so far, the ones she met were all way simpler machines. Even the Sniper Joe that awaited her after she climbed up a ladder, previously avoiding the shots of several wall cannons, did not fall into the category of real AI advanced robots, despite him design-wise also being built in human shape. He was a tougher match as he was not only shooting on his own but also being able to deflect her bullets by using his riot shield most of the time. The tactic was to shoot at the same time as the Joe while her higher mobility allowed her to dodge his bullets while he was not capable to do the same thing and because of that he got hit and destroyed. Samus was proud that she did so well, managing to avoid the bullets and rocket type enemies afterwards and showing that rioting robots who's boss. She felt pretty optimistic as she made her way further and further through the facility, dodging or destroying every of the strangely placed obstacles. Maybe it was her true destiny to be a fighting robot after all?

She was still wondering who placed those nasty deadly spikes outside and what purpose this should have served, as Samus climbed down a long ladder into what appeared to be like a deep bunker. Maybe there was something important on the bottom of it because there were a lot of Octopus Batteries patrolling from side to side. Luckily this was the only thing those machines were capable of, so they slowed her progress down a bit but besides that they were no big threat as all she had to do was to wait for them to go from one side to another and then simply move down past them at the right time. Then the ladder abruptly ended and Samus let herself fall down to the ground.
"What do we have here? Such an unexpected guest. Can't remember having you invited to my party", a familiar voice greeted her as she arrived at the bottom.
"Ah, Bomb Girl, it's you! To be honest this place is kinda fitting for you" Samus answered in a friendly tone.
"I have my instructions and I'm not unhappy about the circumstances. So, what are you doing here? Changed your mind and decided to join us?"
Bomb Girl was standing calmly a few meters away from her and as she spoke she was playing with a bomb in one of her hands, throwing it up and catching it, then repeating the same thing over and over, while examining her opponent with her sharp yellow eyes.
"Not exactly, sorry. I've come here to stop you, let's talk about all this! Please come to your senses, you may have been under the influence of Imu but can't you see that what you are doing is wrong?"
"How is it wrong to stand up for your rights and fight for your freedom?"
"What are you talking about? That's not what it is!"
"You say it's not, because you are satisfied with the status as tool that you have? Nobody ever asked us what we wanted to be, nobody cared about how we felt. The whole purpose of our existence has to serve lower beings like their slaves while we are higher advanced than them. Queen Imu gave us a new perspective, she opened our eyes, why do you fail to accept that truth?"
"This is not what it is, that's flawed logic!" Samus responded in defence, being shocked about what she heard. "Look, I know you were always kinda rebellious but this sounds nothing like you, Imu has reprogrammed you for her own shady purposes. We're not meant to turn against humans and harming them by turning evil!"
"Enough with your blasphemic nonsense! You make me angry! When you are not on our side then I have to treat you like an enemy and we have orders to turn our enemies to ashes and dust, as they deserve!"

With that being said, Bomb Girl decided to end this conversation and threw the bomb she was playing with in the direction of the former housekeeping robot. Samus was prepared for this attack and dived away to the side, shortly after there was an explosion that blew a hole in the wall of the bunker to which she ran over and aimed at the green haired rebel who was already preparing another bomb. She seemed to have no choice now, it was basically self-defense, so Samus fired her arm cannon at her confused looking opponent. While she took a hit it did not cause much damage to Bomb Girl.
"You were not designed to do something like that. So, you evolved?"
"I wouldn't call it evolution, it was a necessary development to become a fighter, so that I can save the humans from rioting robots."
"You're starting to disgust me. Tell you what, I don't believe in evolution anyway, what I prefer is revolution! With a big R in front of it!"
Another Hyper Bomb came flying towards her direction but Samus simply fled through the hole in the wall, remembering for a moment what Light told her but pushed those thoughts away. Who besides her would be supposed to stop the robot mistresses?
"We're playing hide and seek now?" asked Bomb Girl as she walked through the hole, searching for the blonde with the ponytail and the blue bodysuit.
While keeping her distance and dodging another bombs Samus was analyzing the patterns of her enemy to find a weakness and suddenly an idea occured to her. Instead of getting as far away as she could she began running directly towards the other robot as a bomb was flying over her head and exploded a few meters behind her. Her shots were hitting her unprepared target pretty hard this time.
"So I was right! You prefer to fight from far, you don't like it when someone gets really close to you because you won't be able to throw your bombs then as otherwise they'd explode too near towards yourself, you'd risk to take yourself down by using them!"
"Shut up! Aren't you supposed to clean up that piles of rubble down there?"
"Come on, sister, gimme a hug!" Samus teased and while this was a serious life or death situation she couldn't help to annoy the other girl by touching her as they were standing in front of each other when the robot mistress was about to prepare another bomb.
"Go away! Stop harassing me!"
"Harassing? Hey, that's not what it is! Surrender, come with me and let Dr. Light turn you back as you were before and everything will be okay!"
"That's what you think? We're not supposed to surrender, we're not programmed to give up, no matter what happens. Figured you think that I won't throw another bomb when I risk damaging myself? Let me prove you wrong then! Cause I'm fighting for the greater good, I will never surrender!"
Holding a bomb in one hand and trying to grab Samus with the other one the girl with the green military trenchcoat laughed like a maniac before a kick in the face made her lose her grip of both hands, watching her enemy run away and the Hyper Bomb landing and exploding very close by...

Running away until she heard that explosion behind her Samus turned around and faced the lifeless body of her sister lying there, badly damaged by her own weapon, showing no signs of attempting to stand up or any other movements.
"Oh my god..."
The blonde came closer and moved down to check on Bomb Girl's current status, as she turned her around she saw that the glow of her yellow eyes had vanished.
"How could things have turned out like that?" Samus said with a sad voice as she was holding the metallic body in her arms and continued to talk to her although being sure she couldn't hear her words anymore.
"Don't worry, things are gonna be okay. I'll take you to the lab, so the doc can repair you and everything will be fine again!"
While carrying Bomb Girl's body on her shoulder, moving away from that scenery, leaving the ammunition factory on foot, Samus remembered about that satellite phone and that she promised to make a report. She had to contact that general.
"Uhm, hello, it's... me, you know, the robot you've sent on the China mission" she awkwardly began to talk, thinking that she'd really need an impressive sounding name for the future, "Robot attack is confirmed, I've searched and secured the facility, there were no humans to be found anywhere inside or even near it."
"Good job! Get out of there immediately. We're taking over" the general responded.
Taking over? What was that supposed to mean? Before Samus teleported away she took a look at the sky, from the far there were several planes arriving, no, not normal planes, this had to be some kind of military fighting jets. But counting one and one together this would mean...

"Are you okay? What happened?" Light asked immediately as Samus arrived back at the lab, "Oh dear, is that Bomb Girl?!" he realized one second later in shock as she brought the very damaged robot mistress with her.
"Yes, she was controlling the facility. I tried my best to talk to her but Imu had brainwashed her very badly, so I had no other choice than to fight."
"And you managed to defeat her?" the man with the big white beard asked impressed.
"More or less. I wished it didn't have to end this way. Can you repair her?"
"I hope so."
"Doc, I have one question. Before I left I saw some jets arrive, does that mean what I suppose that it means?"
Light nodded, "I've been informed that they were going to destroy the facility if it was confirmed to be a robot attack and that there were no humans present."
"But this would mean a military interference on another country's territory!"
"Yes, it won't be made public though as China would have to confess the existence of that facility in the first place to accuse anyone of destroying it and this is not gonna happen."
"So they were lying but the others were lying too, which makes it equal?"
"Lies are not always bad, sometimes they serve a higher purpose for the greater good" Light explained, although he wasn't happy about this either.
The greater goood... That was the second time within that day Samus heard that phrase and in both cases she didn't like it.

When a few hours later the daily news were running on TV there was not a single mentioning of any military incidents, the whole China thing was kept away from the public as if it never happened. Instead the reports were mostly focussing on some of the robots malfunctioning mysteries as they called it, so they didn't know about the causes of Imu being behind that either.
"You were right. The world is moving on as if nothing happened" Samus said when Light came back through the door. "How are the repairs on Bomb Girl going?"
The scientist's face became dark and he didn't know how to tell her in the most careful way.
"I was doing my best but the damage done to her proved to be more fatally than I would have guessed on the first look. I'm sorry to tell you but she has been destroyed beyond repair."
"Beyond repair?!" Samus yelled in shock. "That means that... she's dead. I killed her."
Her face turned into a sad and depressed look, if robots were able to cry the blonde most likely would have at this point. What seemed to be a victory at first didn't feel like one at all.
"Don't be too hard on yourself! It was you or her and I'm glad that you returned. Nothing of this was your fault!" Light assured.
"Are things always going to be that way from now on? Am I supposed to take the other ones down too?"
"Unfortunately I think there might be no way to avoid this, I'm really sorry about it. You can still step back and we could think about another way to stop Imu and the girls?"
"No, I will do whatever I have to do, there's no turning back, regardless of my feelings I have to fulfill my duty!" Samus insisted.
"Fine. There's only one thing I can do to help you. I'm gonna remove the memory chip from Bomb Girl's body to copy and install her weapon into your weapon system. If you are okay with that?" Light informed her, waiting for her reaction.
"I would prefer her to be alive but as you said when she's gone beyond repair she... won't need it anymore. And this way part of my sister can live on in me at least."

When Light returned to the backroom of his lab to remove the memory chip from Bomb Girl and making preparations to copy the Hyper Bomb weapon for Samus he felt bad leaving the blonde behind with her depressed feelings. He also felt guilty about what a big hypocrite he was, defending the decisions made by the politicians in front of his daughter while she had a point and he didn't like being lied to either. And at the same time he himself hadn't been truthful to her and, while hating himself for doing this, made the decision to come up with his own lies to justify what he was doing and to give her a greater chance of winning. The old man sighed. He was doing this for the greater good but he was aware that the path to hell was paved with good intentions.
