Harley Keener's Journal Entry #27. Saturday, July 23, 2018.

I've learned so much about Sly Cooper and his friends these past few weeks. I learned that Sly Cooper came from a vast line of master thieves dating back centuries and millenia. His ancestry started in Ancient Egyptian times with Slytunkhamen Cooper I, who stole from corrupt pharohs. Sly Cooper's ancestry varies from culture to culture, from Medieval Europe with the gailiant knight Sir Galleth Cooper (which is the stupidest name I've ever heard in my entire life. I can't believe that's actually his real name. Sir Daniel Fortesque from the MediEvil games is a more acceptable name than Sir Galleth Cooper's), to the Wild West with Tennessee Kid Cooper in the 1880s who looks like he could've been in Clint Eastwood's Fistful of Dollars trilogy or Back to the Future 3.

The Cooper Clan have this book called the Thievius Raccoonus, which I think is a little bit on the nose and a bit too obvious for a book chronicling a group of raccoon thieves that spans centuries. Personally, I would've titled it a bit less obvious, like "The Cooper Thief Chronicles", or " Thief: A One Stop Shop for how to be a thief". That's a little less on the nose and obvious than calling Sly Cooper's book The Thievius Raccoonus. Not saying that I don't like the title or anything. It's just my suggestions for better titles to call Sly Cooper's ancestral heirloom.

Anyway, I soon learned that the Thievius Raccoonus was thousands of years old. I'm amazed how the Thievius Raccoonus was able to stay somewhat pristine after thousands of years without it deteriorating with age. It looks brand new, as if if you'd just bought it from a library or a rummage sale. The Thievius Raccoonus should be inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest book. I also learned about Sly's tragic backstory.

Sly Cooper's father was once a thief like Sly is. He used to be in a gang as well. His name was Connor Cooper. Sly was supposed to inherent the Thievius Racconus on his eighth birthday (which, in my opinion is a bit too young for somebody to inherent a book like Thievius Racconus. They should wait at least wait until their child is a bit older to give them the Thievius Raccoonus. It'd be better for the Cooper child to learn the ropes of thieving from the Thievius Raccoonus when they're a bit older. I feel like eight years old is a bit too young for Sly Cooper to have inherented the Thievius Raccoonus from his father. His father probably should've waited untl Sly was ten or eleven years old to give him the Thievius Raccoonus instead of when he turned eight years old). On the day that Sly was going to inherent the Thievius Raccoonus, a group of five criminals known as the Fiendish Five broke into Sly's house, killed his father and mother and stole the Thievius Raccoonus and split it agmonst themselves. Sly was soon dumped at an orphanage called Happy Camper Orphanage, where he met his friends Bentley and Murray.

Two years ago, Sly Cooper and his friends went on a globe trotting adventure to reclaim the Thievius Raccoonus from the Fiendish Five. The members of the Fiendish Five consisted of: Sir Raleigh, a frog who was the engineer for the Fiendish Five, Muggshot, a bulldog with ginormous arms who was a gangster; he was the muscle of the group, Mz. Ruby (who's name sounds like a hip-hop artist from the 1990s), a voodoo alligator priestess whose mystical powers are so powerful, it gives Harry Potter's magic a run for it's money, the Panda King (who may or may not be related to Po from Kung Fu Panda) a panda who is a pyrotechnics expert from China and last but not least, the final member and leader of the Fiendish Five, a robotic owl named Clockwerk, an immortal enemy who has a deep irrational hatred of the Cooper Clan. Reading up about him, I can see why Sly Cooper and his friends are so determined to steal back his metallic parts. I've learned that Sly had previously defeated Clockwerk atop a volcano in Russia a couple of years prior. How that fucker wasn't melted by the lava is beyond me.

Here I thought the Terminator was a menacing villain. At least Sarah Connor was able to defeat the Terminator not once but twice across two movies. I wouldn't be surprised if Clockwerk was secretly built by Skynet to terminate Sly Cooper. Clockwerk might as well be a Terminator. It must have a powerful microprocessor in it or something that's keeping Clockwerk alive for so long. So far, I like being in the Sly Cooper world. I could do whatever the hell I wanted. I miss my mother very much. I wish she was here. I wish she along with half the population of the Earth wasn't disintegrated. How long must I stay in this world before the boredom drives me insane and to the point of no return? Am I and my sister destined to be here? How the hell am i supposed to balance school and being in the Cooper Gang by myself? So many questions that still need answering.

Harley Keener was at the Cooper Gang hideout watching a Star Trek episode on TV. Harley Keener and his little sister Emily had been in the Sly Cooper world for some time. They've gotten used to being in the Cooper Gang. Harley had soon grown to like the city of Paris, France. There were so many landmarks in Paris like the Louvre Art Museum, The Notre Dame Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower, Jim Morrison's grave, the Pont de l'Alma tunnel where Princess Diana famously died in a Mercedes-Benz in 1997, The Cannes Film Festival and the catacombs underneath Paris. Harley loved visiting the Cannes Film Festival and the Eiffel Tower. He took several pictures of them on his BlackBerry cellphone. He wanted to visit the Paris catacombs. The Paris catacombs were a series of interconnecting underground tunnels that ran underneath the streets of Paris, France. Kind of think of it as the French version of the Underground Railroad. The catacombs were like tombs. Harley desperately wanted to go into the catacombs of Paris with Sly, Bentley and Murray. He could only imagine what secrets lay in the catacombs.

Harley paused his episode of Star Trek and went to look for Sly to ask him if he wanted to go visit the Paris catacombs or not. He found Sly in his room, reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, the second novel in the Hunger Games trilogy. Harley was a big fan of the Hunger Games novels as well as their movie adaptations. He introduced the raccoon thief to the Hunger Games a few days ago when they were in the Cooper Van. Sly was intrigued by the world and characters of the Hunger Games novels. He liked Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the main characters of the Hunger Games. Harley had also introduced Sly Cooper to various other novel series like Percy Jackson, Hannibal Lecter, Artemis Fowl, The 5th Wave and Alex Cross.

"Hey, Sly." Harley said to the raccoon, "I was wondering if you could go explore the Paris catacombs with me. I want to get out of this house and explore the underground world."

"I've always wanted to explore the Paris catacombs. There's no telling what dangerous and exciting things we'll find in there!" Sly said excitedly, looking up from his book.

"Great! Let's go!" Harley said excitedly. He couldn't wait to explore the Paris catacombs with a master thief like Sly Cooper. At least it gave him something to do. Sly and Harley started heading out the door.

"Where are you guys going?" Bentley asked Harley and Sly.

"We're heading out into the Catacombs that lay underneath Paris. You guys want to come with us?" Harley asked Bentley and Murray, who were sitting in the living room.

"Sure. I always wanted to explore the catacombs." the turtle said enthusiastically.

Bentley, Sly and Harley all went out the door of their hideout to go explore the Paris catacombs while Murray opted to behind with Emily at the hideout. The trio drove the Cooper Van toward the location of the entrance to the Paris catacombs. They soon found found the entrance to the catacombs. They got out of the van and headed over to the entrance to the catacombs. It was dark inside the catacombs. The Paris catacombs were a series of underground network of tunnels and secret passageways that was laid out like a maze. There were tons of skulls in the catacombs. Harley, Sly and Bentley all had flashlights and glowsticks on them. They headed deeper and deeper into the catacombs. Skulls lined up the walls of the catacombs. They soon became lost within the catacombs. They didn't know where the exit was located. They all began to feel claustrophobic. They started to wonder how long they would end up being trapped underneath the catacombs of Paris for.

"Where the hell are we?" Harley asked.

"I don't know. I don't really see anything interesting here. I think we should turn back." Sly said.

"We don't even know where the hell the entrance is!" Harley said. He started to call out to see if anybody else could help them out of the catacombs. There was nobody in the catacombs except for Harley, Sly and Bentley. That's when they started panicking, worrying about how they were going to get out of the labyrinth. 3 1/2 hours later, they eventually found their way back out of the catacombs. Sly, Harley and Bentley managed to grab a few objects out of the catacombs with them. Their exploration of the Paris catacombs was a thrilling adventure for them all. They hoped to explore the catacombs of Paris again sometime soon.
