a filler chapter, but we get to meet Doughnut! now is when the fun starts
Hermione was going to kill Sophie. Although Sophie was her friend, Hermione was going to murder her and she was going to make it look like an accident. If anything, Fred and George had taught her a thing or two during the years.
It had thrown her off when she had seen Sophie's new friend, for it was Theodore Nott, the wizard who was supposedly missing. The fact that he couldn't remember a thing from his life made her heart ache, and she didn't know how to deal with that.
She was hurt when he didn't remember her, having called her Mia without an ounce of recognition. Sophie had absentmindedly mentioned his lost memory in conversation with Theo, but Hermione had hoped she had made an impression on him that he would have remembered her.
No such luck.
"Mia here is very handy with the household chores, and she's an amazing teacher," Sophie said, unaware of Hermione's inner thoughts. "You can help him, can't you, Mia dear?"
Hermione looked at Sophie first, then at Theo's open face. It was a look that he had never given her when they were at Hogwarts together.
"Yes, I'll be happy to help." Hermione stood up, needing some time alone to gather her thoughts. "Maybe we can get together tomorrow?"
"I'll be here," Theo said in a self-deprecating manner. "And I guess I could help Sophie in the meanwhile?"
"I would love to have you moving your muscles around here," Sophie said cheekily, wiggling her eyebrows, which made Theo blush.
Shaking her head, Hermione decided to leave them to it and walked towards her house.
Her house wasn't different from Sophie, it was basically a copy, with the only difference being the colour-scheme. Hermione felt something when she bought the house, something she couldn't name still to this day.
Sighing, Hermione threw herself onto her couch. Her cat, Doughnut, came sauntering towards her. Crookshanks had sadly passed away a little while after the war, and Hermione had vowed never to get another cat again.
Donut was living in her new house already and had adopted Hermione from the start. Her orange fur was so soft and her eyes so brown that Hermione's heart had been hers ever since.
"You won't believe the day I'm having, Doughnut," Hermione told her while caressing the cat, who purred in response. "It looks like everything is topsy-turvy and I'm dreaming."
Doughnut meowed and patted Hermione's cheek with her tiny paw, making Hermione smile.
"Yeah, I know I'm not dreaming. It's just a figure of speech, Miss Know-It-All," Hermione teased, kissing the cat's nose. Doughnut licked her own nose and then began cleaning herself without any shame.
Hugging the now-annoyed cat to her chest, Hermione let her mind wander. Theo was here in her town, but he didn't remember a thing. It couldn't be a coincidence he was now here where she lived, but she didn't follow the gossip when she left the Wizard World behind.
Deciding she was going to need something, she stood up, put Doughnut on the floor, which made the cat complain loudly. Hermione then walked towards her stationary.
Grabbing a piece of parchment and taking a deep breath, she started writing a letter.
Dear Harry…
