I do not own the song or characters. This is about 7 after Ace is gone.

….

"I have hurt her so many times. I don't deserve to travel with anyone after how cruel I was to her." The Doctor who is in a question mark jumper walks around his TARDIS who hasn't left the vortex since leaving Ace with her brother. The only person who hasn't hurt her. "What should I do? There is no way she will accept any apologies from me. Ace, I will always look at you like a daughter." He moves to her bedroom and finds her jacket. He goes over to pick it up. "You will not see me as I drop it off, but I will write a letter and put it into one of the pockets.

'(Once, I had an empire)

(Once, I had an empire)

(Once, I had an empire)'

"Dorothy, how are you holding up?" Liam McShane, younger brother to Ace asks her as he brings a cup of tea as she is sitting outside on his small porch still in America with Cat.

"I don't know. The TARDIS was the first place that felt like home. First time I felt like I belonged somewhere ya know."

"I saw you two together, don't forget. What I saw was a parent and kid relationship."

"Then why did I leave, why did he betray me so often." She forgets that he drew up with a good parental figure for a second.

"I can't pretend to know why, I have only met the Doctor once."

"I knew him for over 10 years."

"Maybe one day you will understand, unless it's like why we both still don't understand why our parents kept us apart for all those years," he jokes.

"I try to imagine how you would be when I started dating, though Mum didn't even see that much of it, because of Fenric started his evil plans then."

"Well, maybe I will see you now."

"You understand that I like boys and girls, well men and women."

"I do, I still love you no matter what, and I can't wait until I meet them."

"Though with all of my issues I don't see any of them lasting long. I don't think I will be able to be totally honest with them."

"You will find your person one day."

"Thank you Liam."

"I am your Brother, this is my job."

'Once, I had an empire in a golden age

I was held up so high, I used to be great

They used to cheer when they saw my face

Now, I fear I have fallen from grace'

30 years have gone by and Ace had found the note in the jacket days after her talk with Liam. Her jacket and the bat that was with it are two of her favorite things. She has the bat in her bag. As she talks to herself about thinking she can't handle Daleks again a hologram pops up. Ace wants to touch the hologram when it starts to look like the Professor, the one she traveled with. Her thoughts run a mile a minute as he says something about the joy of watching children fly. When the hologram she goes around a corner and runs into a man with a psychic paper. She decides she has to flirt with him.

'And I feel like my castle's crumbling down

And I watch all my bridges burn to the ground

And you don't want to know me, I will just let you down

You don't wanna know me now'

"Graham this way," Ace is running away from the latest monster with Graham, who she has been dating for a few weeks. Both of them stop when they hear a young voice.

"Doctor, we should go this way."

"Bill, I heard a voice that I know." Ace tries to think quickly of a way to hide Graham, since they can't meet yet.

"Let me guess, a Doc before mine."

"Yes. shh." He grabs her hand and kisses it which makes her smile at how gentle he is.

"Hello Ace."

"Hello Professor." They smile at each other.

"How long have you been a Professor, if you were hers," asks the young woman with him.

"Wait, are you an actual Professor now? That is just wicked."

"I have to, it's a promise to the Time Lords and UNIT. What year are we in?"

"2023."

"And this is?"

"Someone you shouldn't know yet," Ace replies before Graham could answer, the Doctor looks at him as if he recognizes him.

"From my future."

"Yeah, I am from your future." Ace looks at him, "sorry Dear."

"Ahh, I see you two are together. I'm glad you are with someone that I can most likely trust Ace."

"Doctor, we got to go," the young woman says to him, "I'm Bill by the way."

'Once, I was the great hope for a dynasty

Crowds would hang on my words and they trusted me

Their faith was strong, but I pushed it too far

I held that grudge 'til it tore me apart'

"How did Ace do this," the now female Doctor is in a secret room away from her three companions who are hopefully sleeping. The TARDIS hums at her. "I know I saw her a few years from when I picked them up." She replies to the question her machine had asked. A loud explosion wakes up her companions, the three of them coming running.

"What are you doing," asks the lone woman of the group, Yaz.

"Making some Nitro 9, one of my former companions used to make it, I forget how she did it. It helped get us out of a few scrapes."

"You had someone that made explosives, she sounds cool. Right Ryan, she can join our club."

"We don't have one, Graham." The Doctor gets a memory of seeing Ace and Graham together.

"I have a feeling if you and Dorothy would meet, Graham. The two of you would be good friends." The Doctor doesn't give what she goes by so her companion will be surprised when they meet.

'Power went to my head and I couldn't stop

Ones I loved tried to help, so I ran them off

And here I sit alone behind walls of regret

Falling down like promises that I never kept'

Ace and Graham have been dating for three months now, and they are at the Companion Support Group. "What was the worst thing the Doctor ever said to you," Jo asks the room.

Graham notices how Ace starts to act and he reaches to grab her hand, "he said I was an emotional cripple. Though it was to protect me from Fenric, who was a Viking God."

"Well, as the one who has been seeing you for the past few months, I can say you have one of the biggest hearts," Ryan and Yaz are heard gagging a little at that. "You two can't deny that." He looks over at them.

"Just kiss him Ace," Tegan pipes up. Ace laughs and gives Graham a quick peck.

'And I feel like my castle's crumbling down

And I watch all my bridges burn to the ground

And you don't want to know me, I will just let you down

You don't wanna know me now'

Graham is looking at some rings for Ace as he hears a familiar sound, he looks to see a man with curly brown hair and dresses on a coat with tails stepping out of the TARDIS. "Doctor?"

"Yes, who are you?"

"Someone you will meet in some time."

"Okay? Haven't I told you not to mess with the future?"

"Have you traveled with a teeanger named Ace yet?"

"I have, last time we talked she was in her 20s." The Doctor looks sad, remembering how he treated his friend.

"When you broke her heart not for the first time."

"I take it, you know her?"

"I am planning to ask her to marry me soon."

"How lovely a wedding, how did you two meet?"

"I will not say that, but what I will say; is that you didn't deserve her trust. She is one of the most amazing women, no scratch that; people that I know."

"I didn't want to hurt her. Has she told you that she left her jacket in her room in the TARDIS, and it got dropped off at her desk not long after she opened the doors to A Charitable Earth?"

"No, she hasn't, but you still hurt her, and she feels the need to apologize to you."

"She doesn't need to, Ace is just that Ace."

"I tell her that often, I do love her."

"I am glad, it seems she found someone good."

'My foes and friends watch my reign end

I don't know how it could've ended this way

Smoke billows from my ships in the harbor

People look at me like I'm a monster

Now they're screamin' at the palace's front gates

Used to chant my name

Now they're screaming that they hate me

Never wanted you to hate me'

When Graham comes home one day Ace is holding a letter. "Is everything ok Honey?"

"Yeah it is, I sometimes like to look at this," she holds up a letter, "the Doctor wrote this to me."

"They told me."

"What do you mean?"

"I may have just seen one that was after yours, and told him off for how he treated you."

"What? Why would you do that?"

"I love you, and I still see some hurt in your eyes whenever you talk about it. I hate seeing anything besides joy in your hazel eyes."

"Oh Graham, my love, my sweet, sweet love," she takes a hold of his hand as he is now sitting next to her. "While I sometimes still have some leftover hurt from it all, I am doing better each year. It was 30 years ago."

'My castle's crumbling down

And I watch all my bridges burn to the ground

And you don't want to know me, I will just let you down (Just let you down)

My castle's crumbling down

You don't wanna know me now, now'

As Ace is picking out a wedding dress, "Professor I wish you were here. Yeah, I have Tegan, Nyssa and Liam."

"I am here, finally marrying Graham?" The holograms of her Doctor says as he pops up..

"How?"

"When he told off my 8th regeneration; I knew he would be the one, plus he was looking at rings that day."

"Were you alone long by then?"

"I was, but it was in spurts. About 50 years after you left, I was alone, then after a few companions, I was alone for 5 before the body you know died."

"Is it weird to you that I wish you were here, my Professor, yes I would like to meet all of you, but this one." She holds out a hand as if she is going to touch it. "Hold a special place in my heart. You were my best friend and at times like a Father to me."

"Oh Ace, I looked at you like a daughter, I will always look at you that way."

''(Once, I had an empire)

(Once, I had an empire)

(Once, I had an empire)'

"Who are you here for," asks one of Graham's friends.

"I am here for the bride; I knew her when she was younger."

"How?"

"You could say I was a Professor of some sorts to her," the Doctor looks at the front seeing Graham standing in front as music starts, he turns as Nyssa walks in, then Tegan and Ryan. He makes sure to hide behind Graham's friend as Ace starts to make her way down the aisle. After the ceremony is over he leaves and walks the 10 miles to where he parked. "I saw Ace get married today," he tells his TARDIS.

Meanwhile, "congratulations you two, Dorothy there was a man here that said he was a Professor of some sorts that looked like he was crying while you got married." Everyone who knows the Doctor and what Ace calls the Time Lord try and hold back a reaction as Ace holds Graham's hand a little tighter.
