WD: Brock and His Family
Pewter City, Kanto. 19th February 2019. Five days after the proposal. 1:06pm.
Misty stepped outside the car, inhaling the scent of the gym she hadn't been to in years. Ash stepped up beside her, smiling. They both knocked at the gym.
"Coming!" A faint male voice called from behind the door. A minute later, the door opened. Brock stood there, with his mouth hanging open, taking in the two people in front of him. Misty grinned. He let a tear escape. Ash gave him his signature lopsided grin. Another tear ran down his cheek. Brock smiled through the tears.
"Welcome home, you guys!"
He welcomed them in and led them to the living room. They all sat down, chatting animatedly. Misty then smirked. "So, Brock, have you been seeing anyone, by any chance?" she asked. Brock turned red and turned his face away shyly. "Yes."
Ash's eyes widened. "Who?!" he asked. Lucy stepped in, carrying a tray of water and placed it down on the table. "Hey you guys!" she greeted. Ash's eyes lit up with recognition. "Lucy!" he exclaimed. Then, he turned to his fiancée. "We met her back in Hoenn." he explained as Misty nodded in understanding.
The group chatted for a bit before Misty cut in. "Guys, so we decided to drop by because we wanted to tell you something…" Brock and Lucy looked at her curiously as she put up her hand. "We're getting married!" she squealed. Lucy clapped her hands and Brock jumped up. "No way!" Ash rubbed the back of his neck shyly. "Yup." Brock looked at them with wide eyes. "When?" he asked, bewildered. Misty smiled warmly at him. "Five days ago. It still hasn't quite sunk in yet," she spoke sheepishly. Lucy grinned. "Are you keeping your name after marriage?" she asked. All the attention in the room turned to her. She smiled. "No. I'll be Misty Ketchum." she said proudly as Ash smiled and put a palm underneath his chin, admiring her fondly.
Brock nodded. "Sounds good." he said. Misty tapped her chin. "Wait, what are you guys?" she asked bluntly. Ash nodded curiously. Lucy laughed nervously. "Well, you see, we're kind of engaged…" Misty gasped loudly before pointing an accusing finger at Brock. "Why didn't you tell me?! I only saw you two weeks ago!" she asked. Brock ran a hand through his hair. "Well, I wasn't sure how you'd react," he said, sweatdropping a little. Misty squealed. "I'm soooo happy for you guys!" she exclaimed. Ash nodded. "Me too," he said, smiling warmly at the couple.
Lucy and Brock smiled as Brock put an arm around Lucy. The couples talked a little more before it was dinner time. Lucy stood up. "So, can I get you guys anything to eat?" she asked politely. Ash smiled. "Yes, please." he nodded appreciatively. Misty admired how mature he'd become, now not being the kid who literally screamed at the sound of food. Instead, politely asking for it. She smiled at him. He caught her eye and smiled back goofily.
Brock watched the exchange with slight tears in his eyes. They really have grown and matured. Especially Ash. Misty must be so happy now.He thought as his soon to be wife approached them with the food; ramen.
Ash immediately dug in. At the end of the meal, he patted his stomach. "That was some good ramen," he licked his lips as he burped loudly. Misty nudged him. He mumbled an 'ow' before excusing himself. Misty smiled proudly. "Good boy," she teased. Ash rolled his eyes.
Brock and Lucy watched them really were made for each other, just like themselves.
