After running away from the gym, following Iwaizumi's orders, Kageyama just stood in the locker room, shell shocked. He wasn't sure exactly how much time had passed, but every time he thought about getting up to shower, he just figured he could put it off for a little longer.

Once Iwaizumi had finally managed to get Oikawa to calm down after nearly half an hour, he decided that he would clean up the gym alone. His friend was still a bit on edge, and staying in the gym would do nothing to ease his mind, so he told him to go home. It took a bit longer as expected, but after looking around, he noticed something, Kageyama's bag was still there. He figured that out of fear, the young boy just ran home without a second thought. He shrugged his shoulders and grabbed the bag, he'd put it in the first year's locker. That was the least he could do for the poor kid.

To say Iwaizumi was surprised to see his kohai staring blankly at the lockers was an understatement. "Kageyama, are you okay? I know that was a lot, I'm really sorry." He frowned, it was like he didn't even notice him, he stepped forward making sure he was in the younger's line of sight before gently tapping on his shoulder, the boy flinched violently. He looked scared.

"Did you not hear me?"

No response.

"Can you hear me?"

A nod.

"Good, umm can you sit down?" The setter moved to take a step towards the bench, but stumbled a bit, Iwaizumi took his hand and guided him to sit. He knelt down in front of him and held his hands. "Can you look in my eyes, I think you're dissociating." Upon the bright blueberry eyes meeting his own, he smiled a bit. "Good, now, breathe with me. In. Out. In. Out." He blinked a few times, looking a bit more aware.

"Thank you Iwaizumi-senpai." He choked out.

"You don't need to thank me for anything, it's no problem." He affirmed.

"How do you know how to deal with stuff like this anyway?" His voice sounded normal again, if a bit quiet.

"Oikawa, he just detaches and shuts down sometimes, ever since we were kids, so I have experience I guess." The older didn't miss the way the other tensed at the mention of the captain.

"Ah, I'm sorry, it's a bit of a sensitive area right now, yeah? But, speaking of that, do you want to talk about what happened?" He ran his thumb over Kageyama's knuckles, it seemed to relax him a bit.

He took a deep breath and nodded his head, "Sure, but where do I even start?"

"I'll just ask you a question, and you answer it. If it's too much, you don't have to, ok?"

A nod.

"Alright, first of all, were you scared?"

"Yes."

"What part scared you?"

"The look in his eyes, by the time he… tried to hit me, I was already zoned out. I just want him to like me, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Why does he hate me so much?" He was tearing up.

"Look I know you think I'm just saying this to make you feel better, but I promise I'm not. Oikawa doesn't hate you, he's under a lot of pressure right now, it's not an excuse for what he did, and it doesn't make it ok, but it's an explanation. I promise that he would never hurt you intentionally. I think you two probably have a lot in common. I think if you could work past this, you could be good friends, that's what he wants actually, but don't tell him I told you that." Kageyama nodded.

"Can I give you a hug?" Iwaizumi asked, standing up.

"Yeah, I'd like that." He nodded.

The taller wrapped his arms around the smaller, he felt his small hands on his back as he returned the embrace. "If you feel up to it, we can talk tomorrow, all three of us, get things sorted out." He felt him nod into his shoulder. "It's getting late, I'll walk with you, let's get you home, yeah?"

"Mhm."
