"What are you talking about?" asked June.
"You have parents and…," she said before Jack interrupted her by jumping to his feet and walking away.
"They weren't my parents!" said Jack as he came to a stop a couple of feet away.
"All they were was money hungry grubs who took me in to get money from the government, they neve cared about me or anything!" he said.
"Jack," said June.
"The day that all of this happened I was about to reach the car when they drove off without me, and I know that they saw me but they only wanted to protect themselves!" said Jack.
"Jack!" said June while suddenly hugging him from behind.
"I'm sorry, I had no clue what you went through, I didn't mean to hurt you with my words so please calm down," she said.
"It doesn't even matter any more," said Jack while breaking free from her grip.
"You and the others at least have families too hope to get back to, I'm all alone in this world and will probably end up in another foster home or something when all of this ends," he said.
"Oh, but you're far from alone," came a voice from behind the two.
"What the?" asked June while turning to see a zombie standing there with glowing blue eyes.
"After all, I need you," it said.
"Rezzoch!" said the two humans as they readied their weapons. The others had also heard them from inside the diner and came rushing outside.
"You're messing with the wrong kids, dude," said Dirk.
"We'll never let you take Jack and hurt him!" said Bardle.
"I don't want to hurt him, I want to offer him a home where he'll never feel alone again and accepted no matter what," said Rezzoch as he held his hand out toward the young human.
"I… I," said Jack while taking a step toward the demon, confusion written all over his face as he did so.
