"Jewel Speaking"
Prologue
Long raven locks fluttered behind her as she trekked forward, confidence lining her steps. A cold air was around her, the temperature matching the coldness of her deep blue eyes. Most, if not all, would be nervous, but she was not.
It was a rare occasion when she would wear her hood down and her mask gone, giving a full view of her facial features. The humanoid features looked odd compared to the rest around her, guiding her through the halls. Her pale skin stood out from their purple color. She showed no signs of caring as she continued forward.
She had finally made it to the throne room, and she let herself come to a halt at last. Her eyes landed on the figure seated on his throne as he looked at her.
Kagome knelt accordingly before rising once more and freely approaching the seated Emperor.
"What news have you, Priestess?" he asked. The gravel of his voice beckoned her to answer as she stopped a few feet away from him.
"I feel as though things will be changing soon. It will be a change for the best," she said. For the first time since her arrival, her eyes took on a bright sparkle. "My Emperor Zarkon, my jewel seems to sing in a promise of it."
As if her words pleased him, he let out a rumbling chuckle. "How entertaining- the words of your strange little jewel." He stood from his throne, his stature towering over her small frame. "You're most useful, little Priestess."
Kagome let a calm smile flash across her face as she accepted the praise. "Thank you, my Emperor Zarkon."
She stood with her hands cupped over her chest as she greeted the Prince of the Galra Empire. Though small, she managed to block his path easily. Her barrier helped, at least.
"Why does one of the hag's Druids follow me?" Lotor asked. Being watched by one of them was the last thing he needed.
"I am a Priestess of the Galra Empire," she stated. Her voice was muffled a slight bit from the black bird-like mask she wore. "Until Emperor Zarkon makes his recovery, I am to be at your service."
"Not one of the hag's Druids?" Lotor folded his arms over his chest as he looked the small figure over. The robes covering them did look different compared to the Druid robes, as did the mask. The white and pink robes hiding their form gave no hint as to what they were, but the faintly feminine voice hinted at them being a woman. The title of Priestess intrigued him.
"No," she said. Her tone turned to something akin to annoyance. "I am a Priestess," she repeated, tone shifting slightly at the last word.
She looked up at him. At least, he assumed she had. It was impossible to tell where her eyes were with that mask on- if she even had eyes at all.
Deciding to test it, he took a step closer to her and gripped the end of her mask. When she didn't seem to react, a confident smirk overtook his expression. Sharp canines gleamed slightly. "I wonder what lurks beneath this," he said. He gave it a faint tug. When he did, she still failed to offer any reaction. He tested it a second time, tugging at her mask once more, only to feel a sharp burn along the tips of his fingers this time.
It was as if she told him Don't Touch without speaking. The burn still tingled his fingers, interesting him even more.
"Will you remove it so I may get a good look at your face?" he decided to ask then.
A muffled huff came from her, but she eventually lifted a hand. A small, pale appendage appeared out from under her billowing sleeve as she brushed his hand away. She gripped the mask and gave a tug as she pulled it from her face. Next, she tugged her shrouding hood down to expose the features that lurked beneath.
Black locks fell free as her hood fell back. They tumbled down her back in messy waves. She looked up at him then. A vague look of surprise darted across his face before he schooled his expression once more. His eyes widened as she worked on smoothing her hair down. He was almost at a loss for words.
Silence bloomed between them. A girl with an almost ethereal beauty gazed up at him. At once, he was ensnared. "I… " he paused, noting how she tilted her head to the side in a blatant innocent fashion. "This not how I envisioned how you would look," Lotor admitted as she glanced up at him. He was able to see the confusion flash through blue eyes. Those blue eyes were encased by long black lashes that fanned delicately against pale skin.
"Is that so?" she asked. She matched his pause with one of her own- almost as if thinking over his words. Neat brows furrowed slightly. "Well… how did you envision me?" she asked. Her voice sounded so much softer without her mask covering her face, and it was certainly pleasant to his ears.
"I'm not sure," he responded. "But certainly not as you are."
She pursed her lips together and stuffed her mask up her billowing sleeve. "Well, now you know. Consider yourself lucky, Prince Lotor," she said. "Not many have the privilege of seeing my face."
"Perhaps I should consider it an honor," he said, and she couldn't be sure if he were being serious or sarcastic. "Although… I admit, you are appealing to look at. Could I request you keep yourself like this around me?"
She looked up at him, her soft blue eyes meeting his sharper gaze. Faintly, a flush of pink dusted porcelain cheeks. A moment later, it faded, and she looked away from him, much to his amusement.
"... If that is what you wish, then I will comply," she said after a few minutes of thinking it over.
"Really? It's that easy to get you to show your face?" Lotor asked. He almost sounded surprised. Almost. Kagome cracked a smile at those words.
"On normal circumstances, I'd reject the idea. However, your request is not a normal circumstance."
Auroua-chan: I really like this idea, ngl. Pairing is decided. Lotor needs some love!
Additional information!
Kagome does not serve under Haggar like the Druids, despite the similar attire. The color difference in her robes and mask marks that. As such, she does not answer her, on any accord.
The "speaking" jewel that Kagome hears- the presence of Midoriko guiding her through her memory-lacking state.
She met Keith only a few times during visits to Shiro, but he does consider her as a sister.
Anyway, that's it for now. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not, sorry.
