Chapter I – A Secret History
In this episode of Dragon Ball Z, we must go back into the past to the weeks leading up to the violent destruction of planet Vegeta. Lord Frieza was becoming more paranoid at the prospect of his demise by the hands of a Super Saiyan. Like a childhood nightmare that he couldn't shake, the fear returned everytime he closed his eyes. Driven by this fear the newly appointed Emperor of the Universe had dispatched scouts, spies, and soldiers to seek out any legend, trace, or proof of such a possibility. The Saiyans were a violent race that would fight back at any opportunity they saw. If one of them could acquire the means, there was no doubt they would all rebel behind such a legendary warrior.
This was unacceptable.
Even when every possible lead came back dry and Frieza had insurmountable proof that the legendary Super Saiyan was only just that, a legend, his fear burned hard in his mind. Every time he would close his eyes there was something there to haunt him. He could never be certain as long as the Saiyans were allowed to exist. He collected a few young Saiyans to keep his planetary trade business going, in order to fund his empire. Among these Saiyans was the young Prince Vegeta. Frieza would raise these children under his authority and force their obedience, like his father had done to him and his brother.
Meanwhile King Vegeta refused to let his lineage rest upon the graces of Frieza. Sensing that something was amiss, he took was opportunity he had left to ensure his bloodline would live on. If any bloodline could save the race, it was the purest bloodline of them all. Frieza sent orders for a Saiyan ship to head to a slave planet of giants in order to purchase a large amount of physical labor. King Vegeta himself left on the errand in search of a secret mate. A potential mother worthy of birthing such an offspring.
It didn't take long before King Vegeta caught a glimpse of a massive giant slave woman at a local bar. Her name of Yaraah and she was property of the local governor. She had earned herself quite a bit of free rain in her duties, including her own private apartment the King would come to find out. She was very reciprocal of his approaches once discovering that he was the King of all Saiyans. For three nights the King came and visited Yaraah, giving her everything he could. He told her that even though she was a slave, her baby would be a Prince and would be more powerful than she could imagine.
King Vegeta flew back to his home world only days before it's inevitable destruction at the hands of Lord Frieza. His journey home was filled with hope and worry. He would never know if his trip was successful or if it was even necessary. He only knew that he did his duty to his bloodline. Despite his fears, Yaraah would come to find out, the King was quite successful. In her womb began to grow a baby boy, a half-Saiyan half-alien hybrid with a destiny unlike any other!
Yaraah did her duty to keep her child's heritage a secret but never kept it a secret from her son, Kail. The fact that he was secretly a great Prince kept him going through his rough childhood. Kail exhibited significantly more strength than his peers and was quickly put to use doing hard labor. The years ticked by and Kail grew both in size and strength. On his 15th birthday he was sold to King Cold to fight as a gladiator in his warrior games! For years he fought in life or death combat, constantly getting pushed to new extremes. His strength grew just as his fame in the arena grew. Soon he had become King Cold's favorite fighter and soon to be his new champion gladiator!
Frieza became more and more convinced that this slave warrior must have Saiyan DNA. He wasn't sure how it happened but he became convinced that one the Saiyans managed to have a secret offspring despite his call for all Saiyans to gather back to planet Vegeta. However, he couldn't kill his father's soon to be champion. Frieza may have been Emperor, but he was still loyal to his father. He was also afraid of his father. No, he needed proof before he could take any action. He grabbed a communicator and punched in the code to call Vegeta. If anyone had any knowledge of another Saiyan, it would be Vegeta. Perhaps this was why he violated orders and left for some useless planet called Earth. Was it all part of a plot?
This is when the unexpected happened. Before he could speak to Vegeta the Prince's voice started coming through. He was speaking to someone about going to Namek with Nappa and using something called Dragon Balls to grant him immortality. Frieza closed the communication link without a word now lost in thought. He had heard of Namekian spheres with magical powers but he wrote it off as lies created to protect a weak world. However, Vegeta wasn't stupid. If he believed that these Dragon Balls existed, then perhaps this would finally let Frieza find peace from the terror of a Super Saiyan. Everything was finally coming together. The young Emperor of the Universe called the orders and prepared his forces to set course for Namek. He had but one last thing to do first.
Frieza paid his uncle Icer a secret visit. Icer was King Colds oldest brother who was passed over for role of Emperor. He lived most of his life in resentment and anger towards his younger brother but never dared defy him. Frieza manipulated his uncle to fight against his father's new champion during his naming event, although it didn't take much convincing. Icer was growing old and he felt that it was time to show his defiance to his little brother. After all, it's only a slave. Frieza, with a maniacal laugh, flew off into space with his forces, knowing that soon he would finally be at peace.
This is where our story truly begins...
