A man stood in what looked like an apartment. Thru a window, he could see a balcony. He knew what the furniture around him was called, that the balcony was a balcony, but he didn't know his name, or where he was. Why?
"Who are you?" A female voice said behind him. He turned around and saw a very beautiful woman. He felt like he should know her, but didn't.
"I don't know. Who are you?"
"I don't know. Why don't I know?"
"I don't know that either. I feel like I should know you, but I don't."
"Funny, I feel like I should know you too."
Just then, a baby's cry could be heard.
"A baby?" The woman exclaimed. "Is it yours?"
"I don't know. Maybe she's yours."
"She?"
"I think the baby is a girl. Obviously she needs attention." The man headed in the direction of the cry and found a baby in a crib. An odor indicated she needed a clean diaper. The man reached into the crib and picked her up. Suddenly her hands were glowing.
"What was that?" The woman exclaimed.
"D. J. healing me of whatever was making me forget." Xander answered, as he quickly changed her diaper.
"Her name is D. J.?" The woman asked.
"Yes. It's short for Daniela Joyce, for two friends. She's our foster daughter."
"Our daughter?" The woman asked, startled.
"Yes, we're married. My name is Alexander Harris, I go by Xander, I'm a Captain in the U. S. Air Force and your name is Cordelia Chase, you're a lawyer."
He carried D. J. towards Cordelia. D. J. leaned towards Cordelia, who automatically reached out to take her. D.J.'s hands glowed again.
Cordelia blinked. "How? I forgot. How?"
"I don't know, but I intend to find out. Atlantis?"
The hologram appeared. "Yes, Captain Harris?"
"Status of the expedition members, please."
"A virus has affected the members. Ambassador Emmegan and Specialist Dex are familiar with the virus and have departed Atlantis to find the ingredients for the treatment. They departed one hour eighteen minutes ago."
"Thank you. Location of Colonel Sheppard and Dr. Weir, please."
"They are both in Colonel Sheppard's quarters."
"Oh boy." Xander answered. "Thank you, Atlantis."
"Acknowledged."
"Elizabeth did tell me that they've decided to start seeing each other." Cordelia said.
"I know. Sheppard mentioned it when we were captured by the dominatrix lady. Come on, bring D. J., maybe she can help them too."
They exited the apartment and headed down the corridor to Sheppard's quarters. Xander overrode the controls on the door and found both Sheppard and Weir inside. Fortunately, they were dressed. Unfortunately, they looked very confused.
"Who are you?!" Sheppard exclaimed. "What is going on?"
"A virus has affected you memories. But we can help."
"How?"
"Our daughter has the ability to heal people. If you take her hand she can help you."
"I feel like I can trust you." Sheppard said.
"That's good to know since we're on the same team."
Sheppard reached out and took D. J.'s hand and was surprised when it glowed.
"I forgot. How?" Sheppard said.
"According to Atlantis, a virus."
"Atlantis?" Elizabeth asked.
"The city."
"The city told you?!" She stared at him.
"Atlantis' computer system told me."
"Oh. Can your daughter help me, too?"
"Touch her hand."
Elizabeth did so and then said. "I forgot."
"Yes. Atlantis said Teyla and Ronan know what the virus is and left to get the ingredients for the treatment about an hour ago."
"Good. We should go to the infirmary. People will be confused and need help. There may even be injuries. We need Dr. Keller."
They found Dr. Keller also looking confused and had her touch D. J.'s hand and then she was fine. D. J., not so much. She looked tired and cranky.
"I don't think she's healing people on purpose, it seems to just happen by touching her. And it's wearing her out." Xander observed. "No more. We wait for Teyla and Ronan."
"I agree. I mean if she was an adult, she could decide for herself to continue, but she's a baby. No more." Cordelia said.
"You know, this might explain the pathogen." Dr. Keller said. "Our study of it, shows it's inert. Her ability to heal may have neutralized it."
"Why didn't the scientist figure that out?" Elizabeth asked.
"Because he didn't care about her." Xander answered. "He never bothered to do anything more then keep her alive and it's doubtful he did that himself. Probably had an assistant do it. He was a half assed and arrogant scientist. He made her, so he assumed he knew everything about her anyway. The Ancients had the ability to heal each other. But it had to be consciously triggered. Jack could heal the second time he downloaded the Ancients database. And since Atlantis confirmed we're descended from the Ancients, that means he has the ability himself, we probably all do, but it's dormant. The download showed him how to activate it. Once the knowledge was removed, it went dormant again."
"And hers is triggering without her being aware of it. Rodney said, the scientist designed her from scratch, using the best genes from hundreds of Ancients. He wanted her strong and healthy enough to withstand the testing. He made her more then a regular Ancient." Dr. Keller concluded.
"I hope the IOA doesn't decide to study her." Cordelia said softly.
"Over my dead body." Xander snarled. "As a matter of fact, that is privileged medical information. It doesn't leave this room."
Dr. Keller looked thoughtful and then nodded. "I agree. In fact, I won't record it anywhere. We're just speculating, after all and you haven't consented to any testing to confirm."
"I agree too." Sheppard said.
"As do I. Don't worry. We'll keep her safe." Elizabeth assured them.
"We'd better. Old Elizabeth mentioned that my counterpart joked that Cordy and I have vindictive streaks. It's true and I will kill anyone who hurts my daughter." Xander said.
"And I'll help." Cordelia said, a fierce and determined expression on her face.
