Hey everyone! And welcome to my first-ever fanfiction.

It won't be the best or the worst ever (I hope) but I've been absorbing RWBY crossover fanfiction like a drug addict for the past 3 months that I went why not try?

I can't stress this enough BUT I am not the best writer ever so every criticism to better myself will be greatly appreciated!

My grammar might be lacking in some areas since this is not my maternal language (I'm French) but I will try my best!

But enough about little ol'me and let's just into the first chapter of Flame of Faith.

Chapter 1- A Holy Mission

It was a bright sunny day for the little 5-year-old Ruby Rose. Her dad had dropped off her big sister Yang at one of her friend's houses that morning, and she was enjoying some quality time with the best dad ever, making the best thing ever – cookies!

At that moment, she was watching them bake with a bright smile on her face.

The aroma of the chocolate chips was already making her tummy rumble, while her dad, Taiyang Xiao Long, was reading her favorite story The Grimm and the Huntsmen. It was the best day ever for little Ruby Rose.

But everything was about to change when they heard knocking on the door. Her dad stopped reading and looked towards the door.

-Knock Knock- The knocking came back a bit harder, and she looked at her dad with youthful curiosity, tilting her head. "Is it Uncle Qrow, Daddy?"

Tai glanced at her, his eyes filled with worry, before placing her down on the ground.

-KNOCK KNOCK- The sound came back harder, making her jump from the force of the strike.

She saw her dad grit his teeth before kissing her on the forehead. "Honey, you're gonna have to be a brave girl, okay?" She nodded, not knowing what he meant, but when her dad got all serious, it always meant bad things.

He smiled at her, but before he could say anything, a loud crash made her scream in fright.

Her dad turned around and shouted a single word. "RUN!" His finger already pointing at the kitchen's backdoor.

Like the good girl she was she ran, she ran as fast as her little feet could carry her. Behind her, the sounds of battle and screams could be heard.

Little Ruby Rose ran through the forest around her house without looking back, crying all the way for her daddy to be safe.

She dared to look behind her, and all she could do was scream.

A man, a Faunus by the look of his scorpion tail, was running after her with a manic smile splattered on his face.

Further behind him, her home was on fire, she could hear the distant sounds of gunfire and shouts of battle.

So Ruby ran even faster, her vision blurred by the tears in her eyes, but the adrenaline and her panicked beating heart kept her going.

But sadly, the Brother Gods seemed against her on this fateful day. She could hear the crazed laughter of the Faunus chasing her, rapidly gaining on her.

With a quick glance behind her, she failed to notice the tree root in her way making her fall harshly, with a cry of pain from her sprained ankle, she tumbled and rolled... until her back hit the bark of a tree with enough force to push out all of the air in her little lungs.

Little Ruby Rose was crying hard in pain and terror like any child would, but no sound came out due to her lack of air.

Before her vision could right itself, something grabbed her by her shirt and lifted her into the air.

The only thing she heard was crazed laughter making her shiver in fear. "Oh my! Oh my! It seems like the little Rose had an 'incident,' hmm? Oh, you are so lucky that I got here before the Grimm, little girl." Even the man's voice sounded wrong.

She tried to wiggle weakly in his grip, but the man just smiled at her, leveling her with his eyes. "Why, now, this is not the way to thank your savior, little Rose! But don't worry, my goddess has such grand plans for you! You should feel honored to have caught her interest!"

His voice was making her tremble like a leaf before replying weakly with the little air she had managed to gather with conviction, "M-my daddy w-will kick your butt b-before...!"

His only reply was to laugh even harder and caress her left cheek with his stinger. "You amuse me. Sadly, your precious daddy is already dea-!"

Ruby blinked the tears away, hearing the man stop his rambling. The pain in her ankle reduced to a dull throb, thanks to the adrenaline.

But when she looked at him, his gaze seemed not to be on her but behind her.

She tried to wiggle in his grip to see, and what she saw made her eyes widen in horror and wonderment.

A massive swirling vortex was right behind her. She could discern things, but at the same time, not. Snarling faces that looked like malformed Grimm out of nightmares, their colors shifting between green, red, purple, and blue.

They were all battling each other, yet not. Ruby didn't know what she was looking at, but her eyes widened even more at what came out of it.

A giant leg.

A giant leg clad in what seemed like massive green armor with black joints at the ankle. The leg was followed by a hand, just as massive and clad in the same green armor.

The being inside seemed to be trying to exit the portal as fast as possible Ruby could see the portal bending under his grip the force he must be applying to it.

Then another arm of the same design emerged, grabbing the edge of the portal. With some force, the being exited the portal, which closed with a wail, like a creature losing its prey.

All she could think when looking at it was awe and wonder. Forgotten were the Faunus holding her in the air, forgotten were the pains in her ankle and back, or her home burning.

The giant robot standing before her was massive in size at around 8 feet and 5 inches tall (2.59 meters).

His armor was a dark green, scorched with scratches, burn marks, and bullet holes as if he had come out of a fight with Grimm and Huntsmen alike.

His chest depicted a skull adorned with wings made of what looked like gold, in the finest art she'd ever seen.

His legs were clad in the same armor as his torso, green but black at the ankles, with flame decals around the boots the waist was adorned with what looked like the hide of some sort of lizard, black as night.

The armor on his arms bore the most damage as if he had tried to protect himself with them. She could even see some bullet holes in them.

His pauldrons were massive, with one painted black with flame decals and a weird red symbol that looked like two chains intertwined with one another. The other pauldron had pieces of paper that were held by what looked like red wax on it, the pauldron itself was carved with a magnificent roaring dragon head, challenging some unseen foe.

The being's helmet was white, with what looked like a crown of golden laurel at the top. The lens of the helmet was of a deep red-like, reminiscent of the Grimm.

On his back was a white backpack, with two skulls-like handles at the top and a broken lamp with three metallic arms sticking out of it.

One arm looked like it had a saw at the end, another a pincer, and the last one a weird contraption that looked like a gun, with a faint red glow inside.

Strapped to one of his arms was a massive drill, and on his left hip was a bulky sword with the same insignia as his armor. She could see teeth sticking out of it and what looked like a trigger on it – maybe a mech-shift weapon?

On his right hip was what looked like a gun, but no gun held by a person had a right to be this big and beautiful. It was black in design with golden text written on it. All in all, this being looked beautiful and really cool in her opinion.

The giant was holding his head with one hand as if trying to clear his mind, it seemed it took a few seconds for the giant to clear his mind before taking his surroundings, however, his gaze halted at the view in front of him making his blood boil in anger.

The child, that his Lord showed him was held by the throat by a filthy mutant that dared to look at him with morbid curiosity his heretical tail inches from this child's face he could see a single drop of purple-like liquid drop to the ground making said ground bubble.

But what really made him mad was the child that he was holding at arm's length in front of him, he could see at a glance that she had sprained her ankle, her body was covered in little cuts but his gaze was more focused on the look of terror the child had with wonderment that he easily guest was because of his appearance.

All of that only took him a few seconds to notice before talking in a deep robotic-like voice thanks to his vox grill.

At the same time on Lucos IV in Ultima Segmentum

On the surface of a world that seemed lush with greenery, anyone observing said planet from orbit might have found this world beautiful, peaceful even.

However, a fierce battle was raging between the Space Marine Chapter of the Salamander and an Eldar force.

Aboard a Thunderhawk, a squad of Salamanders was reciting their last prayers to the Emperor or paying respect to their weapons to appease the machine spirits inside.

The vox of the ship crackled to life, and the pilot's voice could be heard. "Touchdown ETA 1 minute, Brothers. You are ordered to reinforce the position of Brother Sergeant Varresh's squad. They are currently pinned by Wraithguards, a Viper, and multiple squads of Dire Avengers. Be advised, that a Psyker has been spotted among them. The Emperor protect, Brothers!"

The vox went silent as the squad shouted, "The Emperor Protect! For Vulkan!"

As their cry out for the Emperor ended, the Thunderhawk's doors opened revealing rows of trees where bolter shot and Xenos weapon could be heard, in the corner of their eyes they could see shadows moving their form too small to be Astartes.

The Salamanders wasted no time and jumped out of the craft. As they had suspected Eldar's shots immediately started whizzing past their heads or grazing their armor.

They ran in the direction of Sergeant Varresh with the help of their inhuman speed somehow pulling ahead of the more agile fighters behind them, along the way sadly their flamer specialist was hit through the lens of his helmet by a shuriken round piercing his eye and brain the only sound coming out of him before toppling over was a wet gurgle of pain.

The apothecary of the group glanced mournfully at his fallen brother, vowing to the Emperor that he would return for his gene seed before turning around and with the help of his helmet tracking system spotting the Dire Avenger who killed his squadmate and openned fire if the cry of pain he heard was anything to go by his shots hit the Xenos making him smile.

This prompted the rest of the now three-man squad to turn around and open fire, their Bolter shots resonating through the trees amid the cries of pain from the wretched Xenos.

After what felt like hours of running through the dense forest, which were in reality only a few minutes run, the Astartes bursted through the foliage, surprising another group of Dire Avengers who were currently engaging a bunker where bolter shots could be heard from it.

One of the Eldars turned around and pointed at them, screaming something before having his face crushed by the mighty power fist of the venerable squad leader, his headless remain was sent hurtling through the air with the force of the hit, his short flight ended with it hitting one of his unlucky brethren making him fall on the ground.

The two surviving Eldar raised their weapons, their shots chipping at his armor. Not losing any time to help their leader the apothecary and the last tactical marine of the squad raised their bolters and fired with deadly accuracy, killing the two instantly leaving them with two new bloody holes where their torso used to be.

The last Eldar was on the ground begging for mercy. He sounded young, but none would be given to the Xenos. the tactical marine armored boot ended his life by crushing his head without a once mercy.

The three space marines glanced at each other in a silent conversation before arriving at their objective – a reinforced bunker where two of their brothers were holding the line.

A third marine was slouched against the barricade with one of his arms missing. They could all see the remains of the fourth marine, or what was left of him – surely having been hit directly by the enemy Viper multiple times.

Not losing more time to assess the situation the apothecary rushed out of the tree cover in the direction of the wounded, immediately the Eldar shot concentrated on him but his brothers who were following him gave him enough covering fire allowing them to reach the damage barricade.

Crouching down next to the wounded marine, Ardal the apothecary drowned out the shouting voice of the two high-ranking Astartes before starting to administer first aid.

With the new reinforcements, the gunfire noise around him intensified, but all his focus was on the wounded marine.

Drowning out the sounds, the only thing that broke his concentration was the shout of Brother Hareus, the tactical marine of his squad who had a finger pointed in a direction in the forest.

The warning scream took him out of his task. "Viper incoming!" Sadly this action costed him his life, his head being vaporized by what looked like a shot from a Wraithguard sending his body flying in the open.

His patient stabilized, and with a glance above the barricade, he could see the Viper speeding through the trees with extreme agility.

Not losing any more time Ardal grabbed his bolter from his hip, then with a calming breath, he fired two shots, hitting the driver and gunner of the craft respectively.

The Viper crashed through trees, even into some of its own, much to his satisfaction. But this satisfaction was short-lived when something harshly impacted his pauldron, jolting him to the side making him quickly ducked behind the cover of the barricade.

"Brother Adal! Focus on collecting the gene seed of Hareus. We WILL not leave any of our own behind!" This was the baritone voice of his squad leader.

Without questioning the order, enemy shots still hammering their position, he ran toward the fallen marine, protecting himself with his arms.

An enemy round dented his armor, but thanks to the covering fire of the other three marines, he was able to reach the corpse and drag it to cover.

Without wasting a moment, he began the surgery.

So focused on his task, that he did not notice his squad leader disappearing with a blood-curdling scream in an ethereal fire.

Having finished the operation with the gene seed secured inside his Narticium Ardal looked not being able to see his squad leader a pang of grief surged through him.

Now down to only three marines in fighting condition, the Eldars started to rush their position in their charge the last remaining marine apart from him and Varresh got his body cut in pieces by a Howling Banshee that with a backflip jumped over the barricade.

The wounded marine he was sent to protect got killed by the last Wraithguard of the Xenos with a shot to the head.

Avengers started pouring in from atop the bunker's barricade, and without thinking, he started punching and hacking with his great drill at them.

He fought back-to-back with Sergeant Varresh with the strength of cornered beasts no Eldar was able to approach them.

They seemed to be winning thanks to the narrow path they were in not allowing the Xenos to fire without having a chance to hurt their own, he heard a meaty thunk behind him and a grunt of pain.

Spinning around, Ardal could see an Eldar different from the others. Her weapon was a long, beautifully engraved bone spear.

She was draped in a robe the color of midnight, with wraith bone armor that gave her a ghastly appearance. Her spear was currently embedded in Varresh's throat, the great man weakly grabbing at it before his arm fell to his side, never to move again.

A snarling appeared on the Eldar Seer's exposed face as she removed her spear from his throat the corpse falling like a fortress wall crumbling.

Her gaze then focused on him with her eyes filled with hatred. "Foolish Mon-keigh! You thought that such primitive beings could invade one of our remaining worlds? Your dying Emperor should be ashamed of—" Adal did not let her finish.

The other Eldar around them gasped in surprise at how fast he moved.

Her yelp of surprise quickly turned into one of pain, without a word, Adal had punched his drill through her stomach, the sound of the grinding machinery making her scream pain worse.

In her panic, the Eldar's eyes sparkled with unrestrained power, her fear for her life evident. The only sound she heard was the voice of the man in front of her, filled with disgust and hate. "If I am to die here, you will die with me, Witch."

His second hand moved faster than lightning before squeezing her throat.

In her last desperate attempt to remove him from her, the warp exploded around them, and in the blink of an eye, the dead Eldar and Ardal disappeared from the glade they were standing upon, leaving behind horrified and stunned Eldars.

In the Warp

Nothing was making sense for Ardal. His eyes were screwed shut, but even then he could still see faces of snarling beasts.

He could feel scratches being inflicted on his armor. The corpse of the witch had been quickly removed from him by purple demons wearing very little. Their teeth were already sinking into her flesh.

In this horrible place, he lost his perception of time as he had been here for days? Month? Years? Maybe even Centuries? He did not know but never did he lost his faith in the Emperor his faith protecting him somehow from the horror of the Warp.

His prayer consisted of words of forgiveness to his beloved Emperor and Primarch in the mind of Ardal he had failed in his duty, his entire squad died under his care this was unforgivable for an apothecary of his caliber.

After what felt like millennia for Ardal a bright light filled him with warmth and a feeling of safety. The snarling faces and voices that promised power howled in agony before disappearing.

Without moving, he felt himself being dragged toward the light, the feeling inside of him only growing stronger.

Once he stopped 'moving' a voice, full of power and comfort spoke to him. "Open your eyes, child of Vulkan, for I have a task for you."

Without hesitation, Ardal opened his eyes. The light surrounded him, shielding him from the Warp chaotic influence.

In front of him, a portal, similar to a rift, was open, revealing a forest.

However, what truly captured his attention was the sight of a little girl huddled against a tree, crying in pain and terror.

She must have been barely five years old. His breath caught in his throat; no child so young should wear such an expression of fear and agony on their face.

But what made him pause even more was the man – no, the mutant – approaching the girl.

He looked like a predator who had finally caught its prey. Licking his lips with his scorpion tail flicking in delight behind him, the scene filled Aldar with a burning rage. No child should be chased by such a monstrous creature.

And again, the divine but gentle voice spoke to him, "Save her and guard her at all cost, protect this world, my champion." Without second-guessing, Aldar walked forward, guided by the voice the horrors of the Warp forgotten.

The voice of the divine being was the last thing he heard before crossing the portal. "Kill Salem, the girl is the key to your victory."
