Chapter 8:

Carole came home as Finn was helping Rachel get comfortable. "What's going on?"

"Kurt took Rachel out to a club tonight and ran into Brody. He slipped something into her drink." Finn explained. "When I arrived, someone was trying to take advantage of her in the alley behind the club. They ran off when the door opened but Rachel said it was Brody. He probably knew that if I found out it was him, I'd kill him."

Carole knelt down next to Rachel and gently took her wrist in her hand, checking her pulse. "Did you give her water when you got here?"

"Yeah, is there anything else I can do to help?" Finn asked her, keeping a hand on Rachel's hip.

"The best thing you can do for her, is to take her to the hospital, Finn. She needs to have her system flushed and... is her shirt torn?" Carole asked looking up at him.

Finn nodded, biting his lip gently.

"I hate to say this, sweetheart but its time to take this to the police. He's going way above just being abusive. He's stalking her and now he's drugged her and assaulted her." Carole explained. "First, take her to the hospital and make sure she's okay."

Finn scooped a sleeping Rachel up in his arms and made his way back to his car. He gently placed her in the seat and buckled her in, brushing her hair behind her ear. He knew his mom was right and they were way over their head, especially after tonight. He just hoped Rachel wouldn't be mad at him.

Rachel woke up about an hour later to a white room. She started to panic and heard it on the heart monitor.

"Rach? It's okay. I'm right here." She heard Finn say from her left. She swung her head around to look at him and he grabbed her hand, giving it a light squeeze.

"Finn? Where am I? What's going on?" Rachel asked tearfully.

"It's alright, my mom told me to take you here so they could flush your system. I've been here the whole time." Finn said soothingly, running a hand over her head.

"Flush my system?" Rachel asked in confusion.

"You don't remember?" Finn asked, squeezing her hand as he sat next to her on the bed.

Rachel shook her head as a escaped her eye. "What happened?"

"Kurt called me when you guys went out. He said you ran into Brody. Do you remember that?"

"Yeah. I remember that Kurt wouldn't let him near me but shortly after he walked away, I started feeling funny." Rachel said.

"He slipped something into your drink, Rach. Brody was trying to take advantage of you. Kurt called me when he realized something was wrong. Thank God, I got there in time." Finn explained. He watched as she processed the information before her eyes filled with tears and started falling down her face. Finn gently pulled her into his arms before he whispered. "We need to call the police, babe. This is way over our heads, he's putting your life in danger."

Rachel nuzzled her nose against his shoulder. "What can they do?"

"Rach, he's stalking you and now he's tried to rape you. We need to get them involved. I had my mom bring you something to wear so you didn't have to wear your torn shirt." Finn replied kissing her head gently.

"Thank you...for everything, Finn." Rachel said quietly as she pulled away.

"You don't have to thank me for anything, Rach. I would do anything for you." Finn replied, gently kissing her forehead. "I'll check with the doctors about when you can get out of here."

When Finn came back, he found Rachel staring down at her hands. She had changed her clothes and they were sitting on the bed next to her. He carefully sat down beside her and wrapped his arm around her. "Are you okay?"

Rachel turned to look at him and he noticed the unshed tears in her eyes before she shook her head and buried it into his chest. He wrapped his arms around her tightly and kissed her head gently. "Shh...it's alright, Rach. I'm here. It's going to be okay."

"I'm scared, Finn." Rachel said tearfully, clutching at him at little tighter.

"Shh...don't be scared. I got you." Finn soothed, running his hands through her hair. "Come on. Let's get you home."

"Don't I need to sign out?" Rachel asked him as he helped her off the bed.

"No, I took care of it for you." Finn replied, leading her towards the door.

In no time they were headed to the police station. Rachel had her head resting against the window, staring out at the scenery.

"Why would he do this? What did I ever do to deserve this?" Rachel asked quietly.

"You don't deserve this, Rach. He's sick but I won't let him hurt you again." Finn soothed, reaching for her hand. He pulled into the parking spot at the police station a few minutes later and turned to look at her. "Are you ready for this?"

"Not really but it's for my safety, right?" Rachel asked nervously looking up at him.

"It is." He said seriously, brushing her hair back behind her ear.

"Then let's do it." Rachel replied with a sigh. She unbuckled slowly and started to open her door when Finn placed a hand against her arm.

"I'll be right there if you need me." Finn said seriously.

They approached the front desk and Rachel squeezed Finn's hand tightly. He squeezed it back in reassurance and introduced himself to the person at the front desk.

They had brought Rachel back into an interrogation room a little over an hour now and Finn was getting antsy. He wasn't sure what was going on. He had wanted to be in there with her but they insisted they only needed to speak to Rachel.

After another half hour of waiting, the door finally opened and Rachel came out basically sprinting for him. He caught her in his embrace and wrapped his arms tightly around her as she sobbed into his chest.

"Shh...its alright, Rach. I got you. You're okay." He whispered in her ear while rocking her gently from side to side. "What happened?"

The officer that was in the room with Rachel approached and placed a gentle hand on Rachel's shoulder. "She did great but having to relive the whole story, has taken its toll on her. You can take her home. We'll have someone to keep watch on her house tonight."

"Actually she has been staying with me since her return to Lima." Finn explained. "I can give you my address."

"Yeah, that would be great. If you could write it down for me before you go."

"Absolutely." Finn replied before leaning down to whisper in Rachel's ear. "I'm just going to write my mom's address down for them and then I'll take you home, okay?"

Rachel nodded tearfully as she pulled away. Finn stroked her cheek gently, brushing her tears away before following the officer over to a desk. Rachel kept her eyes on him the whole time.

A few moments later, Finn came back to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder to lead her out. He helped her into his car and shut the door behind her before getting in his own seat.

He turned to look at her and noticed fresh tears falling down her face. "Rach..."

"Please don't. Not right now. That was awful." Rachel begged before she started sobbing again.

Finn sighed and gently pulled her back into his arms. He kissed the top of her head and caressed her back. "It's alright. It's over. You don't have to tell me anything, if you don't want to."

Rachel nodded against his shoulder and started to take deep breaths. "I just want you to hold me."

Finn froze for a moment, wanting to make this better for her but he didn't know how. He didn't think anything would make her feel better except Brody being put behind bars. "Come on, let's go home and I'll hold you for as long as you need me to, okay?"

"Okay." Rachel replied, pulling back and wiping at her tears as she put her seat belt on.

Finn put his on as well and started the car before reaching over to place his large hand on her thigh. He rubbed it softly with his thumb as they pulled out of the lot.
