"Why did I agree to this?" Tommy grumbled as he pulled on his dress socks before slipping on a pair of oxfords he'd only worn once before- for their wedding. Kim was the live correspondent for the Tony Awards tonight and he had agreed he would come along for a variety of reasons. Most of them being centered around if she started having a prophecy in the middle of the broadcast. They had figured out she could hold it off a bit longer if he was able to short circuit it, but he had to be with her to do that. So here he was, publicly supporting when his wife in order to keep her safe.

"I don't know, pick a tie," Carrie said as she held up three in front of him and he looked between all of them. It was enough that he was in a three piece herringbone suit and that his blue shirt was going to 'pop' with what Kim was wearing- whatever that meant. He was along for the ride at this point and had accepted his fate over six hours ago when Kim had started getting ready.

"He doesn't give a shit, Carrie. Silver stripes," Kim said as she walked into the hotel room and Tommy glanced up at her and his mouth dropped open. They could have given him a warning about her dress being backless and having a plunging neckline that showed off her post-baby cleavage. He immediately knew that this night was going to end differently than most of her work nights. Normally she was so tired that he didn't try anything, but there was no way he'd keep his hands off her tonight. It also made sense why she had insisted that get a hotel room for the night instead of going back home to the twins, she had known how he'd react. "Do you have tape? I don't feel secure enough in this."

"Yeah, let me go grab it," Carrie said as she tossed Tommy a tie and pocket square and jogged off. Kim walked over to him and he let out a shaky breath.

"So you do like," Kim purred as Tommy looked up from concentrating on tying his tie and gave her a lust filled look before going back to the tie. He didn't trust himself to talk at the moment- not with who was here. She had steered Carrie toward dresses she wouldn't normally wear, but would have an extra appeal to Tommy. She knew that he would regret this decision at some point during this evening and hoped this would make it worth it.

"Don't want nip slips though," Carrie said as she passed over the tape and Kim started placing it against her chest and smoothing it down. She walked over to the mirror and continued shimmying things into place as Tommy forced himself to stare at the ceiling. He wanted to watch, but he knew that would just lead to them being late and they had a strict timeline to keep. "Do you know any other tie knots?"

"There's more than one?" Tommy asked as Carrie laughed before motioning for him to give her the tie and she quickly fixed it in a eldredge knot. She then grabbed his pocket square and carefully folded it into an abstract fold before placing it in his pocket.

"Now…let me look at both of you." Carrie took a few steps back and nodded for him to go stand next to Kimberly. Tommy stood and walked over to Kim as she did a few jumps before she nodded in satisfaction that nothing was going to slip out of the dress. "I think we should lose the tie, unbutton a couple of buttons."

"You know that I'm not going to argue with you about that. Those tattoos are part of why I married him." Kim reached over and removed his tie before unbuttoning the first button, pausing a moment and then unbuttoning the second. "Hmmmm."

"Yeah, something still doesn't feel quite right." Carrie ran out to grab a hair stylist and marched them in before pointing at his hair.

"What's wrong with my hair?" Tommy said as he was shoved into a chair.

"That's not how you ever style your hair. That's what is off." Kim walked over to her purse and pulled out her cell phone, scrolling through until she found a few pictures that were her favorite of him. Some were from their wedding day, another was from a random Tuesday when the twins were crawling all over him. "Less that- more this."

"Got it." The hair stylist yanked a brush through his hair and he locked eyes with Kim as she gave him a look and he let out a sigh. He understood why she wanted him to feel like himself and he really appreciated it. He would have never told them that he hated his hair or that he'd rather burn the tie than wear it, but this was why Kim trusted Carrie so much. Carrie just knew.

"Ooooh much better. And for the love of all that is holy- keep that beard." Carrie said as she snapped another picture and Kim looked over her shoulder before smiling up at him.

"I told you the beard was good." Kim walked over to him and leaned over to give him a kiss. He had argued with her about shaving for tonight and had not understood why she insisted that his beard stay. He had always preferred being more clean shaven, maybe having a five o'clock shadow on occasion. Since the twins had been born, he had grown out his beard just because it was one less thing each day. "There is 100% going to be an article where they try to figure out who you are now."

"So we should change my hair back?" Tommy joked and she glared at him. "Okay, okay. Not changing it back."

"Who is Tommy Oliver? Over the last four years, we have watched Kimberly Hart, co-host of the Today Show, get married to this mysterious man, but we've never really learned who he is. He appeared out of nowhere and has stayed out of the spotlight, except for the occasional family picture that Kimberly will put out for the Today Show. That is until this year's Tony Awards, where we saw him for the first time supporting Kimberly Oliver at an industry event. Here is what we've been able to dig up."

"Thomas Marshall Oliver was adopted by Gayle and Russell Oliver of Stone Canyon, California in November 1979. He moved to Angel Grove, California in 1993 where he and Kimberly Hart initially met. We have contacted high school friends who say that the two dated prior to Kimberly moving to Miami for Pan Global gymnastics training. So, Tommy Oliver has been around for a lot longer than the world realized."

"And this is where things get a little weird. Tommy Oliver had a short stint as a low level NASCAR driver before he went to M.I.T. where he majored in paleontology. He went on to get his doctorate in paleobiology before he taught high school science at Reefside High School for a handful of years. He then moved on to be a research paleontologist and professor at UCLA. He was the lead paleontologist on multiple expeditions where he helped further the geologic records of primitive fighting cultures and dinosaurs. In 2010, he took a sabbatical from UCLA and next appeared as a research professor at Columbia. Somewhere in that time, he reconnected with Kimberly Hart. We have been unable to find anyone that can give us the story of where and how that happened. But as everyone knows- in 2011, Kimberly Hart became Kimberly Oliver and we were introduced to Tommy Oliver for the first time."

"If you're impressed by his academic accolades, that really has nothing on his achievements in karate. He is the co-owner and head instructor of Hayabusa Karate Academy in Manhattan and an 8th degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and is a Kru instructor in muay thai, expected to become a senior instructor in the next few years. From what we have found, he began training in karate at age 4, got his first black belt at age 12 and has been the owner or co-owner of multiple dojos from age 18 until now. He is regularly a guest instructor at multiple dojos in California and recently Hayabusa Karate Academy was named one of the top ten karate schools in America. I think the only question now is- when are we going to see Tommy Oliver step in front of the camera to answer all of the questions we really want to know?"

"You're shitting me, right?" Tommy walked across the room as he glanced at the number of views on the video and let out a groan. A YouTube channel had decided to do the investigative reporting, but it was now being picked up by many major news outlets as well. His history was being plastered across the world and he knew it was only a matter of time before it drew the kind of attention they didn't want. "How does my life have that many views? They don't even know half of my life."

"Which is why it has so many views. It also helps that you are now seen as the incredibly hot, mysterious husband who props up his successful wife while having another equally successful and impressive career. Keeping you out of the spotlight meant that there was always a chance this would happen. It's up to you if you want to do anything in response." Kimberly ran a hand up and down his back. He let out another groan and she leaned down to give him a kiss on the cheek. He just wanted to go back to where his life was not something to be investigated for views. "I didn't think it would get this big."

"I know. I know you wouldn't have asked me to come if you thought this would be the outcome…" Tommy was interrupted as Kira crawled over to him and pulled on his leg, slowly trying to stand up before she head butted his leg and she immediately started wailing. "Oh come here. I know that hurts. Daddy's leg isn't soft enough for your noggin."

"Just so you know Tommy, I am so proud of you," Kim said as he looked over at her from comforting their wailing child and he gave her a confused look. "You're right that they don't know half of your life and if they did- they'd wonder how you're still standing. I know it all and I wonder that some days too…I am so proud of you as my husband and as the father of our children."

Words failed him, so Tommy leaned in to give her a kiss and Kira then headbutted his chin and let out another wail. He then kissed the top of Kira's head as he did the parent bounce and she slowly settled against his chest and fell to sleep. He glanced over to see Kim smiling at him and he couldn't help but smile back. This was what his life was and if it meant someone decided to dig into him every once in awhile, he would learn to be fine with it.

AN2: Thank you for reading and I'd love to hear what you're thinking about this story! Just as a heads up- I will be taking some time off from publishing from 7 to 21 October 2023 and plan to take a little break from fanfiction websites (in general during that timeframe). I'll get back to any reviews or DMs after the break- promise!
