Sonny left the PCPD after being questioned. The PCPD while unsure about where Sonny had been and the circumstances didn't have much to go on.
"Are you ready to go home?" Nina asked.
"Why don't you go on ahead," Sonny said, "Jason's at the coffee warehouse and I want to stop by and check in."
"Of course," Nina said.
Once Sonny arrived at the coffee warehouse, he started to give orders as he normally would.
The workers just stared at him.
"Did you all suddenly forget how to work?" Sonny asked.
The workers looked at each other confused.
"What about the orders I gave don't you understand?" Sonny exclaimed.
"Because you no longer give the orders, Sonny," Jason's voice rang in the warehouse.
"What do you mean I no longer give the orders," Sonny yelled.
"Sonny, you're no longer in charge of the business," Jason answered, nodding at the workers to make themselves scarce. The workers disappeared. Only Max and the other guards hung around.
"Since when?" Sonny asked.
"Since you disappeared without a word," Jason said, "And left Trent unconscious."
"I don't know anything about Trent," Sonny said, "All I know is I left to have time away with Nina and you turn around cut me out."
"What was I supposed to do?" Jason said, "You've refused to acknowledge the issues with the business and how weak we've been perceived."
"Not this again," Sonny screamed, "I've told you I had everything handled."
"Well it's hard to have confidence in that when you've been issued an ultimatum by the families after being removed as head of the families," Jason said.
"By my own daughter," Sonny interrupted.
"That's what you're going to choose to focus on, Sonny," Jason said, "You agreed to Kellie being the tie breaking vote at that last meeting."
"Because I thought she'd back me, be loyal to her father," Sonny bellowed.
"Everyone else in that room knew she could go either way," Jason said, "Kellie was not playing games after Charles died, after the kids could been hurt in that shoot out. She bought into a shipping company for the sole purpose of having leverage over the families and anyone who might do business going after her or the kids. There's a good chance she got Zacharra out on parole for him to take over the Buscema territory to help stabilize things. We should have been the ones making those moves Sonny. Instead, Kellie did and got invited to join the families on her own. What the hell is wrong with you that can't understand your daughter made those moves because we weren't, that we failed to protect her, the kids, and Charles."
"Maybe the question I should be asking is what's wrong with you, Jason?" Sonny replied, "Did you get used to being in charge while I was gone and you couldn't handle not being the one in charge anymore? All you've done is question my decisions and undermine my leadership ever since I got my memory back. Then you have the nerve to take over the business the first time I go out of town and then assure me everything is fine when I call to check in. But it wasn't fine was it? Because you'd already taken over the business, hadn't you? How long were you planning this?"
"Awhile. What else did you expect me to do?" Jason said, "Not only had you disappeared under suspicious circumstances again. But you've repeatedly refused to acknowledge the reality of the current situation of the business. The families gave you an ultimatum and you refused to do anything to address it."
"Because we don't need to," Sonny replied, "I had everything under control until you decided you knew better. Here's what we're going to do. Now that I'm back, you'll tell everyone it was just a misunderstanding. You'll just hand back over the business."
"Sonny, that's not happening," Jason said, "You had plenty of opportunities to make a move and re-establish yourself as the undisputed head of the organization. You didn't. You can't tell me that you actually believe I could just hand the business back over to you at this point without further speculation on the stability of it."
"You shouldn't have done what you did, Jason," Sonny replied.
"If I hadn't, do you know what would have happened, Sonny?" Jason responded, "Either someone we don't want comes in and exploits our weakness or Kellie would have made a move for the business if I hadn't."
"Now I know you've lost it," Sonny said, "Kellie's never wanted to be in charge of the business or continue to be involved in it. Nevermind that she thinks she might take her own seat with the five families."
"Unless she felt it was her only option to keep our family safe," Jason said, "She'd do it again in an instant, no hesitation. She's always walked a fine line when it comes to the business and always understood the impact of her past choices with the business on her life now. Whether we like it or not, Kellie has a lot of her own power in our world, more so since she owns that shipping company. She could have taken over and we never would have seen it coming. We had no idea about Zacharra or the shipping company until the meeting with the families."
"If you'd done a better job of getting information from Kellie about what's she doing, we wouldn't have been blindsided by that," Sonny said, "Wouldn't have looked well weak in front of the families."
"Did you really expect Kellie to share that information with any of us," Jason asked.
"Maybe not," Sonny replied, "But Johnny and Francis should let us know if Kellie's going to go…"
"Let me stop you right there, Sonny," Jason said, "Kellie has to be able to trust them as her guards. So I'm not asking them to spy on her. Because if she stopped talking to them then we end up in situations where she ditches them and maybe they don't find her. Part of the reason we brought Francis and Johnny back as her guards was because the guards she had couldn't keep up with her when she'd follow a lead or go off by herself in California. They've trained better guards to work with her. But part of the reason Johnny and Francis work with her as guards is because they don't stop her, they just go with her and make sure she stays safe."
"This is unacceptable," Sonny said, "You're going to undo what you did."
"Sonny, what's done is done," Jason said, "You're going to have to get used to it."
Jason turned towards Max.
"Max," Jason said, "Go ahead and escort Sonny out. I'll get Sonny the information for accounts and funds he still has personally after this."
Jason froze as he heard the click of a gun and turned to see Sonny aiming his gun at him.
Max stepped in and went to grab his gun as Jason motioned for him to stand down.
"You're not going to shoot me, Sonny," Jason said, "Not when that will cause the exact opposite of…."
"If you're laid up in the hospital recovering for a few weeks," Sonny said, "I guess I'm back in charge."
"Not if you're in a jail cell," Jason said, "Which you will be."
"Max and Trent will cover it all up," Sonny said.
"No, we won't, Mr. C," Max said, "Not this time."
"So that's how it is," Sonny said, "No loyalty to the person who's kept you employed all these years, allowed your brother Milo to leave."
"As much as it pains me to tell you this, Mr. C," Max said, "You know better than anyone sometimes loyalty isn't enough in this business, not when bullets are flying and innocent people are getting caught in the crossfire. Not to mention the profits that our associates have seen drop with the events in the last year related to how shaky the leadership has been. It's having repercussions across the globe."
"I expected better from you, Max," Sonny yelled, "What would your father have to say? I know he taught you better than to betray family."
"You're right. He did," Max said, "And that's I can't back you. Because if I back you, I'm betraying my family, my cousin's widow, your daughter, and his children, your grandchildren. I'm betraying their safety along with safety of the rest of your family. You should know my father is on board with this, with Jason taking over."
"I want to talk to Maximus Senior," Sonny said.
"That's not going to happen, Mr. C," Max said.
"That's unfortunate, Max," Sonny said, steadying his aim, "But I'm sure I have other employees that will follow orders."
One of the other guards reached for his gun, but Sonny fired a warning shot which ricocheted. However, the bullet didn't hit any one.
"Everyone, hands where I can see them," Sonny said, aiming the gun back at Jason.
