Their side of the complex was lifeless, decorated in more modern neutrals. Nothing personalized as she explained it, this side was her summer vacation rental.

Macey nor Preston attempted to browse, they had all summer to do that.

They said goodnight to their new neighborhood. Macey made a dash to the half bath off the kitchen.

Both the upstairs and downstairs had king beds, Preston surmised Macey would prefer the bottom floor for accessibility. He decided to put the suitcases on the dresser and dig out their pajamas.

"What are you doing in my suitcase Winters?" He froze, but she grinned at him from the door. He may have stared in shock too long. She had gotten rid of the sweatshirt and her athletic joggers. Only the one bright blue t-shirt that clung hardly covering it.

The stare went unnoticed as she flung herself across the width of the mattress landing on her right side. With no method, she grabbed fistfuls of the comforter wrapping it around her like a burrito.

"It feels so good to lay down," she motioned for him to come, he joined parallel meeting the eyes in the small hole that wasn't blanket, "P, you don't have to watch me all the time like I might break. I'm not dying," she retorted jokingly.

He didn't smile propping his head above hers on an elbow, "Its hard for me to know how you feel. When the hormones aren't talking…your distant, your Macey," this time they both grinned.

Maceys arm retreated from the blanket cocoon, fingers tracing his cheek pulling him forward, grazing his lips with her own, "I know I've known you years, you've been through so much with me. I'm not trying to be like that, I want to let you in. I just have a lot of feelings all the time right now and I don't know where to put them. It's easier to not have them."

He nodded, foreheads touching he kissed this time seconds longer, "I know it's…—," he searched for the word, "overwhelming, but I can't help if you don't let me in," he tilted his head reaching her face again the kiss no longer delicate pecks.

She pulled back, moving to rest on his shoulder, "I'm sorry, it's just I don't wanna cry tonight. I kiss you, look at you, and love you so much it hurts," she murmured out rapidly her heart pattering loudly in her throat before she lost confidence.

Those 2 words sandwiched in there tightly sealed with lightening speed, he nodded in affirmation, "We have the rest of our lives to kiss," he felt her holding the air in, biting back nervousness, "and I love you too."

Her head moved back, eyes flicking to his. No words needed with the feeling of warmth her eyes provided she wrapped an arm around him grabbing blanket from behind and adding him to the cocoon.
