It had been a long day, and Lottie was tired. Payday for the loggers meant a lot of extra business for her saloon, but also some damage from men who'd had too much whisky and had gotten a little too rowdy, and a later-than-usual closing time. She'd told her bartender, Ken, to go home a couple hours earlier so that he could have dinner with his wife and kids. She could handle closing by herself. She sighed deeply. The later evenings made her more tired these days. But even after all the years of having her saloon, she still enjoyed the work... She truly loved the people of Seattle, especially those Bolt brothers. She's known them since the youngest brother, Jeremy, was a little boy, and she loved them like family.

Jason, Joshua, and Jeremy Bolt were always generous with their loggers, especially when they completed a big contract. Jason and Joshua always enjoyed celebrating with their loggers, drinking hard, playing cards, and occasionally participating in some arm-wrestling. Jeremy usually just had one drink and played a few lively tunes on the piano, but then left early so that he could spend time with his fiance, Candy Pruitt. Big contracts meant that he had less time to spend with Candy. When the long hours of work were done, all he wanted to do was spend some quiet time with the woman who would soon be his bride.

The Bolts and most of their crew had left an hour or so earlier. Lottie slowly ushered the last couple of the stragglers out, locked the door, and began to turn down the lanterns before turning in herself. She had felt a headache coming on and gently rubbed the back of her neck to loosen the knot that had formed. Looking around, she decided that the remaining dirty glasses could wait until morning to be cleaned. She was too tired tonight.

As she started to turn down the last lamp in the saloon, there was a knock at the door. Thinking one of the slightly-inebriated loggers had forgotten something, she unlocked the door without checking who it might be.

As Lottie swung the door open, her eyes widened and her jaw dropped open.

"You!", she shouted. "I never thought I'd see you again!"
