When Klee was very young, before Alice left Mondstadt, she told Klee that she was destined for greatness.

Klee wasn't sure what it meant. What was Greatness? Did it involve bombs? Alice laughed when she asked.

"Don't worry about it, my little clover. Just live happily everyday like you always do, and everything will work out just fine."

And so she did.

She had a big, loving family that she loved that was the Knights of Favonius. She had her Big Brother, who was so smart and good at everything and took good care of her. She had her friends Razor and Bennett and Diona, who are all very fun to play with. Even the weird grown up gave her grape juice whenever he found her playing in the vineyard. Trips to Solitary Confinement aside, Klee didn't think her life could get any happier.

Maybe that was the Greatness her Mom was talking about! Happy with her conclusion, Klee turned back to drawing her new bomb designs (Master Jean had let her design the explod-y balloons for the upcoming Windblume Festival as a reward for her help with the hilichurls at Stormbearer Mountains. So Cool. Although Master Jean looked traumatized after the mountain blew up.).

So immersed in designing her bombs was she that she failed to notice the giant dragon wrecking havoc on the city.

"Should we get Klee out of Solitary Confinement?" Lisa asked.

In one universe, Jean had said no, thinking that the small elf was too young to know about the evils of the world.

In this one, Jean reasoned differently.

"Klee might be scared in there alone," she agreed. "Lisa, why don't you fetch her? Noelle can keep her company."

Lisa nodded and left.

Noelle was friendly with Klee, and could heal and shield her if anything happened. A good choice for babysitting a small child during a national crisis. The best choice, in fact, with Albedo and Sucrose in Dragonspine.

So why did she feel a sense of dread?

"But Klee wants to help!"

Klee sat at a desk at the Favonius library with Noelle across from her, folding her arms petulantly. Noelle gave her a sympathetic smile and tried to reason with the small angsty knight.

"It's dangerous for you out there. Grandmaster Jean wouldn't want you getting hurt. Let's leave this one to the grown ups, yeah?"

Klee clutched her backpack to her chest. She had already stuffed it full of bombs, just in case. "But Klee can help."

Noelle sighed. "But Klee, we're going against a dragon that can fly! Your bombs can't hit it, even if we do let you help."

Klee stared at her for a long time. Then, excruciatingly slowly, she turned back to her artwork (which look alarmingly like a bomb blueprint), biting her lip. "Okay…"

Noelle smiles, patting her in her oversized hat. "There, you focus on drawing. I'm going to get us both some hot cocoa, alright? Would you like a sandwich too?"

Klee nodded, "Yes please!"

"Alright, I'll be right back!"

Noelle turned her back on the small hyperactive child. A fatal mistake, really.

When she came back, Klee was long gone.

"I'm preventing your fall with the power of a thousand winds," said the mysterious voice.

"Harness its energy," said the mysterious voice.

The Traveler resisted the urge to scream. Why did the dragon keep moving?

Well, they knew why, but still. They kept throwing stuff at it, and it kept. Missing. This being the first time on a wind glider did not help.

"You're…not actually very good at this, are you?" Said the mysterious voice. It sounded disappointed.

Well, it could be disappointed all it wanted. The Traveler was trying.

Their thoughts were interrupted by a brightly colored balloon slowly rising up into the air. They could make out a face drawn onto it. It was actually kind of cute. Some child's lost toy, perhaps?

Whatever, they had more important things to focus on. The Traveler sighed as the dragon went into a sort of barrow roll dive. They did their best to follow on their clunky, hither to untested wings.

That turned out to be unnecessary, however, as the dragon collided with the otherwise unassuming balloon. The balloon smacked into the purpley spike on its back with just enough force to pop it.

The Traveler could feel the shockwave from where they were in the air.

The dragon roared in pain as it tried to recover from the explosion. One of the two purple spikes were shattered.

"Holy shit," said the mysterious voice.
