I looked with disgust at the empty beer cans left all around the bonfire, before turning my attention to Taylor. There was a mischievous grin on her face. I'm very much used to seeing that expression. Usually, it never leads to anything good.
"Alright Taylor, what is it?" - I asked, already expecting something incredibly dumb to come out of her mouth.
"Umm, why do you always assume I have something to say? That is like, so offensive. Like, stop gaslighting me!" - Sadly, I know Taylor well enough to know that she doesn't understand half of the things she just said. I just gave her a knowing look.
"Does it mean you don't have anything to say?" - I asked, trying to pretend that I was not already over this conversation.
"Um, of course, I do! Duh!" - Yes, I do wanna murder her. I watched as she leaned closer to the fire, to give herself this "mysterious and cool" effect that they have in movies. - "Do you guys know the story of the Red Hood Killer?"
Oh my God. I clutched my head in exhaustion, before quickly making it look like I was just fixing my hair, once I realized that Taylor was staring right at me. If there's one thing I know is that it's better not to piss off Taylor Wellington.
Not wanting to catch eye contact with the self-proclaimed "queen of our school" I looked at the rest of our group. Trent felt the change of atmosphere and started to play appropriate creepy music on his guitar. Justin and Lightning were clearly uninterested as they compared their biceps. They do it like every single day, I don't know what's wrong with them. I spent more time staring at Geoff than I would want to admit, but can you blame me? He had this cute, puppy-like look in his eyes as he just innocently stared at Taylor, clearly having no sense of what's going on right now. He and Sammy were visibly the only ones interested in the story, as she raised her hand… Because she's sadly not allowed to talk if not asked to.
"Oh! I heard about it! The local news station only talked about it for-" - She was interrupted by a very loud cough coming from the evil clone that sat beside her. Otherwise known as Amy.
"Shut up Samey! This is exactly why nobody likes you!" - I always feel so bad for poor Sammy, I can't imagine having to deal with this treatment from Amy for longer than 5 minutes, but that's every day for her. I tried to call her out on this before, but being a head cheerleader comes with many perks like being Taylor's right-hand woman. Poor Sam, just curled up, hiding her face behind her knees, all as Taylor looked with appreciation at the evil twin.
"Thank you, Amy! I know I can I always count on you and you prove it each and every day! Some of you…" - Her tone sounded very pointed as she made a specific effort to look in my direction - "…Could take some notes."
I could feel something heating up inside of me as the she-devil just sent me this condescending, passive-aggressive smile. Ugh, the urge to push her into this fire gets stronger with every second, but there are too many perks that come with being a part of Taylor's "pack" that I really don't want to lose. As much as I hate this word, Taylor is a massive bitch… But a useful one.
I just nodded in her direction, mustering a polite smile as she finally turned away. - "So, since none of you know about the Red Hood Killer, I guess I can tell you his story!" - I once again looked in Sammy's direction, the poor girl clearly lost any enthusiasm she had the first time Taylor mentioned the story - "So, many, many years ago, there was this killer, who wore a red hoodie. He was called… The Red Hood Killer."
I will admit that her storytelling skills are very entertaining… Just not for the reason she thinks. I had to cover my mouth as a mocking smile started to form on my face. I looked over at Amy who stared at Taylor with the look of awe that she has any time Taylor breathes. I then turned my attention towards Geof who was completely spaced out at this point. Or drunk. Or both? Honestly, I don't know. He's very nice to look at either way.
"The Red Hood Killer or TRHD for short, was a total and complete loser. A nerd, if you will. He obviously was bullied by everyone for being an anti-social freak. I would honestly feel kinda bad for him, but he went soooo overboard with his revenge." - Taylor paused for a dramatic reveal as if it wasn't obvious what the revenge was - "The Red Hood Killer… Killed them! With like a… knife, I think. "
"Damm, that's sha-crazy!" - Surprisingly, Lightning spoke out, seemingly being done with comparing muscles. He now had this innocent look of amazement that a child has after seeing a new thing for the first time in their life - "Lightning uses knives only for sha-steaks! It's wild to think that some people could use them to kill others!" - Never change Lightning. Never change.
"EEEEEEEK! That was so scary!" - Definitely nowhere near as scary as this high-pitched scream. I covered my ears, which pretty sure were now bleeding, and turned towards the two scream queens. I was shocked and confused to see two girls with very outdated fashion tastes. One of them was tall and tanned, while the other was a short, Asian girl on the chubbier side. I looked over to Taylor, who was visibly pissed off.
"What the fuck?! Who are you?!"
"I'm Katie!" - Spoke the taller of the girls with an excited smile, that was very unfit for the circumstances. The other girl looked much more nervous, seemingly much more aware of the situation
"And I'm Sadie? We go to the same biology class? For 3 years now?" - She mustered a weak smile, but it did a bad job of hiding her nervousness.
"I don't care who you are! What the hell are you doing here?!"
Thanks to the years of always getting her way, Taylor has the amazing ability to go from 0 to 100 very quick. Even I sometimes find myself to be kind of scared of her, so I don't completely blame those two for hugging each other in fear.
"We- We saw you guys having a party here and thought we could join! We even asked-"
"Yeah! We've been here for like two hours now!" - The smaller girl was interrupted mid-sentence by the other one. Honestly, I'm not surprised nobody else noticed them for so much time, but I'm shocked that I didn't. I watched as Taylor slowly started walking towards Katie and Sadie, the duo rightfully shaking from fear. However, suddenly, Sammy jumped in front of them, blocking Taylor's path - "Hey, it's fine! Me and Trent will just see them out? Right, Trent?"
She looked at Trent, her eyes basically begging for him to agree. He just groaned, before putting his guitar aside - "Yeah, sure. We can do that. Come on girls."
Sadie and Katie exchanged disappointed looks before slowly making their way out, Trent and Sam following closely behind them. I thought that the whole ordeal was done until the shorter girl suddenly turned towards Taylor.
"Fine! Whatever! Have fun, you marshmallow-eating freak!"
I quietly chuckled to myself, as Taylor watched the two girls leave in complete disbelief. I mean, I will admit that her rage was kinda justified, but seeing someone speak out against her is always satisfying to watch.
"I don't even eat marshmallows!"
…
Half an hour later and there were still no signs of Trent or Sammy. I probably wouldn't even notice if not for the fact that I had nothing better to do, than constantly checking the time on my phone. Taylor and Justin were taking selfies for their Instagrams to show others how "hot, rich people can be a happy couple", while Amy and Lightning… Were being the opposite of a happy couple. She sat there with a bored grimace as he was trying to explain something to her.
"I know that I'm not the only sha-member of the team, but the other guys don't sha-try as hard as Lightning does! So, Lightning thinks that the cheerleaders should change that sha-silly, little song into chanting Lightning's name! …Samey, are you listening?! It's important! It's about me!"
Did he just call his girlfriend- I didn't even get time to process it before Amy started screaming at him. - "Lightning, what the hell?! I'm Amy?! You know, the talented, pretty one?! The one you're dating?!"
I could see the gears turning in his head, and as he realized who he was talking to, he let out a sigh of disappointment. - "Wait you're Amy? So Lightning is dating the worse twin? Ugh, That sha-sucks!"
I can't lie, I laughed at this, which was unfortunately noticed by Amy. Despite there being like 6 feet of distance between us, I could still feel the heat coming off of her. Honestly, thank God that Sammy is not here with us right now, cause I don't think that she would survive this.
"...What-fuckin-EVER! FUCK all of you!" - For a moment, I thought that I wouldn't survive this. Luckily for me, Amy just stormed off into the forest, her sudden outburst was actually noticed by Justin and Taylor, the former looking more concerned.
"Um, not that I care about Amy, but I don't think we should let her wander off into the forest at night? Like, it feels like the start of a bad horror movie."
Taylor just shrugged it off, before going back to taking selfies. Justin seeing this, put his concern aside and joined her, while Lightning decided to work on the cheerleader chant of his name. Seeing that no one was about to go check on her, I considered doing it myself, when I suddenly felt someone gently putting their hand on my shoulder. I turned around to see Geoff with a warm smile on his face.
"Yo, Bridge! Wanna go with me for more beer? We will have a moment for ourselves, you know…" - He winked at me, but even without it, I knew what he meant. I took a moment to think. If I was a serial killer, waiting in the forest to kill some dumb teenager… I would be scared of Amy.
"Yeah! Let's go!" - I smiled back at him, before grabbing his hand and leading the way towards the cars.
…
Between the bonfire and the place where we parked, there's like ten minutes of walking distance. Ten beautiful minutes, that me and Geoff spent flirting and teasing with each other, finally allowing me to take a break from all of the drama.
"Sooo… Was that just a ruse to get me alone, or do you actually have some more beer left?"
"Well, I need to pee, so let's say that while I do it, you will wait for me in the car and if you guess correctly, we will do whatever you want. How does it sound?"
"It sounds like something that we always do, but I like it that way."
We both laughed, as Geoff pulled out the keys out of his shorts and unlocked his car. He was about to walk into the nearest bush, but I quickly pulled into a quick kiss.
"Okay, we will do more of that later, but I really need to pee now!"
With that, Geoff disappeared into darkness, as I settled myself in the passenger's seat. I turned on the radio to pass the time while waiting, a chill, poppy song was playing. I hummed along to the tune when the song was suddenly interrupted by the voice of the radio host.
"We have to interrupt due to us receiving important news. An escape from the Prison of Saint Chris occurred, with the escapee being a dangerous individual- " - The deep, manly voice turned into an unpleasant white noise, which quite frankly was quite scary. I freaked out a bit, as I punched the radio in hopes of it fixing itself… Which it did. Weird how it works. - " -She escaped into the nearby forest. Her current location is unknown. If you're anywhere nearby, please lock yourself in a safe place, and if you see anything strange, call the right authorities… Now back to our regularly scheduled program!"
Yeah, that… I'm scared. A crazy person escaped into a forest and my… "Friend" just got lost in one. I could feel a wave of anxiety washing all over me. I never thought I would be concerned for Amy of all people, but here I am! She's alone in this giant forest, possibly with some psycho, we just heard a story about a serial killer, and freakin' Justin even compared this to a start of a bad horror movie! I had a terrible gut feeling about this and surprise, surprise, but I lost the desire for the fun times with my boyfriend. I opened the car door and looked with worry at the bush where Geoff was still doing his business.
"Geoff, can you hurry up? I know it's stupid, but I just heard news about someone escaping from prison into the forest and I'm just kinda scared for Amy. Let's get back to others and go look for her."
I waited for a response, but I was only met with silence. I couldn't fucking believe it! Geoff is a huge "prankster", but I couldn't believe that he would really do this now, to his own girlfriend. I grabbed my head in frustration, growing more scared with each second.
"Geoff, don't fuck with me right now, okay?! Can't you see that I'm really scared?! It's not fucking funny!"
He's silent again. I really couldn't bear this joke right now. I don't know what he thinks he's doing, but I could feel the anxiety gnawing at me, as my heart acted like it was about to jump out of my chest. This was too much for me. I watch horror movies - the sexy, young couple is about to have sex and they get killed for it. I'm not doing this shit today, I'm done and Geoff should pray that I won't be done with him after this stunt.
"Honestly, fuck off, I'm going back with or without you!"
I was about to turn towards the path that we came from when I suddenly heard some noises coming from the bush. This motherfucker. I swear, I will murder him. I was fuming with anger as he stood there in a red hoodie and a mask, with some smiley face drawn on it. I knew that it was him under it, but I was terrified, thanks to that dumb story that Taylor told us earlier. Fuck it! It was probably one of her stupid ideas!
"Geoff, you- You dumb motherfucker! Can't you see that I'm scared, are you out of your fucking mind?!" - I mean, who does that kind of shit to his own girlfriend?! Geoff is no stranger to dumb pranks, but this is straight-up sociopathic behavior!
As he continued to stand there in complete silence, I just scoffed at him. I can't believe that my boyfriend could be such a piece of shit. I turned around on my heel and was about to go to the others when something hit my head. I touched the sore spot, to see that it was covered in blood. I'm going to fucking murder him.
I turned around to face him, but instead of looking at him, my eyes were locked on the thing that he had thrown at me. I stood there, completely frozen as I watched the lifeless head of Geoff lying on the ground, his eyes staring right at me.
My heart pounded in my chest, and my breath became rapid and shallow as I stared at the horrifying sight before me. - "No, no, no, no, no…" - It was a gruesome nightmare and I could only hope that I was going to wake up from it.
My trembling hands reached up to the back of my head, just to discover that there was no injury there. Just the blood of my crimson red blood left by the bodyless head of my lover. I shifted my gaze to look at the… At this monster. Seeing this, they pulled out a still bloody knife, before charging straight at me.
I had no time to grieve, as I had to now fight for my life. Tears of terror were running down my face as I ran in the direction of the bonfire, but so did the attacker. They were faster than me, I had no chance of safely making it to Taylor, Justin, and Lightning. So instead of continuing onwards, I stopped in my tracks, before running back. This sudden change of direction gave me a headstart and allowed me to get inside Geoff's car, before manually locking all of the doors.
My body was uncontrollably shaking as I slowly pulled out my phone from my pockets. The trembling of my hands and the blurry vision, caused by the tears worked against me as I attempted to call 911. I took a deep breath in a futile attempt to calm myself down, as I looked around, not seeing the masked figure anywhere near. It was a game for him. A twisted, fucked up, little game, and twisting their knife in my still beating heart is going to be their prize.
No. Stop it, Bridgette. I need to stay focused if I want to make it. I managed to regain enough composure to dial 911 on my phone. I held the phone to my ear, anxiously awaiting for someone to answer the call.
"...911, what's your emergency." - More tears fell down my cheeks as I heard the calm and reassuring voice from the other side.
My breathing was ragged and I struggled to form any words, sounds of whimpering sneaking between each sentence. - "I… I need help. My name is Bridgete... Please, somebody is out there in the woods… They killed my boyfriend. His head… Oh my God. They are after me now."
The dispatcher's voice became much more urgent. - "I'm here to help. What's your exact location?"
Having to describe what's happening, reawaken all of the fear and misery that I managed to in me to make this call. I know I need to be strong to survive… But I'm not. My voice quivered as I struggled to muster any word without wailing between each of them.
"The… The forest next to the prison… Oh my God, what's it called? Oh my God… I don't remember…" - It was all too much for me. I knew that this phone call may be the difference between life and death and I don't even know how to tell them where I am. I'm a sitting duck, just waiting for this psychopath to kill me.
"Bridgette, please, I need you to stay focused. Is this the forest next to the Prison of Saint Chris?"
"...Yeah. I- I think so, yeah. The car is… It's parked in this popular place for young people… The road starts behind the pizza place… Benny's pizza I think."
"...Thank you Bridgette. The authorities are-"
My heart raced as the window beside me shattered into a million pieces. I let out a scream and dropped the phone, the dispatcher's voice becoming a distant echo, as I was consumed by the panic and the pain, caused by little shards of glass cutting into my flesh.
Through the broken window, I caught a glimpse of the figure in the mask, putting their hand through it in order to unlock it. My instincts kicked in, and as soon as they clicked the door switch, I smashed it into them with full force. Seeing this as my only chance, I scrambled out onto forest ground.
Adrenaline ran through my veins, propelling me to run forward, but as I stood up, getting to make a run for it, I felt my tibial nerve slashed, bringing me back to the cold, hard ground. It's over. I can't run. I can't hide. The feeling of utter helplessness possessed me, as I realized my fate. I will never see my family nor friends again. I wanted to become a vet and help animals, but now it's going to just become a distant memory for all the people who knew me.
I listened to the slow steps that they were taking. They're about to take everything from me and for what reason? Why? What did I do to deserve this? I muttered all of my strength to turn on my back and face my killer.
"Who are you?" - They stood there in silence for a few seconds that felt like infinity. They crouched bringing themselves closer to my face… Before stabbing me straight in the gut. I only managed to let out just a small, pathetic yelp, as more and more blood started to leave my body. This psycho then put their hand over their mask, before taking it off in one swift motion. - "...Why?"

Alive: Katie, Sadie, Taylor, Amy, Sammy, Lightning, Justin, Trent
Dead: Geoff, Bridgette
Hi! Thank you for reading the prologue of Katie and Sadie vs The Evil! I love horror movies with "Scream" and "Happy Death Day" being my all time favorites. I also really like tv series "Scream Queens", so I kinda got inspired to write a slasher, comedy fic. It's gonna be hard killing some of my fav characters, but… Oh well!
You may also be questioning the choice of the leads. Like why Katie and Sadie, the random obnoxious early boots? Why not like Lindsay and Beth, Gwen and Courtney, Harold and Duncan etc. but thats exactly why I picked them. Theres not many fics with them as the leads and I just think that its going to be very fun to write them in this scenario.
Sadly I had to kill someone in this chapter already and it just happened to be Bridgette and Geoff o7. It was fun writing this chapter from Bridgette's perspective, but from this point onward, almost everything will be either Katie's or Sadie's POV.
Hope you enjoyed this and if you did, let me know in the comments!
