One of the biggest problems with fanfics of an ongoing series, be it movie or anime, is that they already follow a plot. It is too easy to write myself into a wall since I gave a character a power that induces a plot hole, or I take out an arc that removed character development. Happened to my other fics, I don't know where to go now.
So here is a new one to get my creativity back.
When one asks a Japanese idol group's owner what it's like to manage so many young women, you would mostly get politically correct answers. Expect things such as providing healthy schedules, ensure their privacy and safety and give time to interact with their fans to be some of the answers they use the most.
However, if you were to ask the virtual idol group Hololive's CEO Motoaki 'YAGOO' Tanigo, he may answer differently. Considering that the ways he found some of his talents include being dragged into Makai, be at the right place at the time as they fell from the stars, or even be in the wrong place when they landed onto his office, almost turning him into a pancake, this is hardly surprising.
Hence, he can only sigh in resignation as two of his newest batch of talents. Five beings of Myth and concepts and the other five being outright holders of universal concepts randomly decided to fight each other, knowing that this is yet another start to another surreal experience. At least the overseer of this sudden inter-generation battle, OmegaAlpha used her(?) powers to create a dimension to hold them, yet the fact that having his office building teleported into this dimension and having front row seats to the fight did cause him some worry. Beside him are the rest of the talents, themselves of diverse origins watching the scene.
With their cheers, some for Myth and others for Council, YAGOO checked his blood pressure and was glad that his idol dream, that are broken at times and restored at other times is no longer affecting his mental or physical health.
IRyS, the being that is a mix of Angel and Demon was the only non-combatant in this new event. Surprisingly quite the pacifist, questionable antics in her streams not-withstanding, she was the first to approach the overseer of this event. Floating in front of the Hololive building, hands and eyes glowing to indicate that the dimension is being maintained.
"Why are they fighting?" The bringer of hope asked.
"It was something that they have discussed and agreed upon." The overseer replied, not sparing her a glance.
"What discussion?"
"I have finally found ENigma, the source of the curse that plagued them. And when I informed them, they decided to face it to be rid of it. What you see before you are their preparation."
"That is their reason!? It hardly affected us personally!"
"Like I have said earlier, it was something that they agreed upon. If you wish to stop them, go ahead."
Knowing that she no longer has any points to argue, IRyS turned to watch it all unfold.
Ouro Kronii had personal reasons in this Myth and Council fight. Amelia Watson, the time travelling detective was a sneaky one even for her. She was willing to let that one theft go, considering that they ultimately ended up as colleagues in an entertainment company.
Until the discussion in regards the EN curse, which she now knows that it came from an entity. Initially, she was still willing to let it go, if only that blasted time travelling thief did not gloat about her theft in front of her! She knows that Amelia was trying to goad her to a fight, but that did not matter anymore, her ego did not allow her to take this insult lying down.
And now in this dimension built for battle she experienced first-hand the craftiness of the thief. Portals of all sizes opening left and right with projectiles coming at her. She can vaguely see some of them are bullets from the famed 'No Man's Land' in the first modern world war, what appears to be the nuke codenamed 'Castle Bravo' and the very asteroid that she saw drove the dinosaurs to extinction.
However, before the very Warden of Time, these crafty ways to weaponize time travel is ultimately meaningless. After all she CONTROLS the concept of time. It was barely an afterthought for her to simply reverse the flow of time of every individual projectile, sending them back into the portals that they came from so that the timeline will not be affected.
"Any better strategies little thief? This is boring!" Kronii gloated.
Amelia did not respond, using her own time powers, she shortened the time to travel thirty feet into a single femtosecond appearing before Kronii with her gun aimed at the Time Warden. She would have fired if she did not realize that Kronii was behind her. The lack of any wind in her sudden movement indicating that she stopped time before moving to her back.
"Argh!" A strangled yelp was all Amelia can let out before Kronii grabbed her by the throat, lifting her into the air.
"Little thief, your strategies, clever as they are, does not work on me. You use time, I control it."
To this Amelia only grinned.
"Think again."
"Huh?" Kronii blinked in confusion only to let out a loud 'GWAK!' as she leapt back from a tarantula that was about to latch onto her face, letting Amelia go before once again backing away from a car-sized centipede coming from a time portal below her.
Freezing the critter's time, rendering it immobile. Kronii did not even allow Amelia to taunt her for her high pitch squeal as she stops time, went in front of Amelia and sent her flying twenty feet with a kick to the stomach, landing hard on her back.
"No more tricks Amelia! You have lost!" Kronii declared to her downed opponent, her foot on Amelia's stomach and her clock-hand shaped sword inches away from her neck.
"Kronii won." IRyS commented as Amelia gave the agreed signal to surrender.
"Indeed, Amelia Watson is a formidable opponent for anyone, it's just unfortunate that her opponent has the superior version of her powers." OmegaAlpha replied.
Nanashi Mumei is known to be a rather airheaded individual, having short term memory did not help matters. However, those who know her are also aware that she can be surprisingly menacing. Her tendencies to make ghoulish art aside, she is known to have made at least two contingency plans against her entertainment colleagues.
One of the contingency plans just so happens to include a way to deal with a phoenix, who just so happen to be her opponent. She did not really understand Takanashi Kiara's motive to challenge her to a fight other than a nickname given to her by the Grim Reaper, whom the phoenix really like.
Nonetheless, her ruthless side took over the instance the battle started. Opening with a lightning-fast flick of her hand, sending some large iron needles towards Kiara's eyes. Kiara, a warrior herself dodged the projectiles with a spin, using its momentum to swing her Zweihander, sending a crescent shaped wave of fire back at the Council member who quickly got out of the way…right into Kiara's sword range.
Deflecting the attacks with her own dagger, Mumei managed to find a short lag in between Kiara's swings to successfully stab her in the thigh with a cast iron dagger.
"Such big swings, are you really that unrefined?"
Kiara simply responded with a roundhouse kick to the unprotected side of Mumei's head, knocking her to the ground. Quickly rolling away from a stomp to the head, Mumei swiped at Kiara's feet, unbalancing her enough to buy a couple seconds to get back up. Kiara tried to punch her with her right, only for Mumei to move her head under it and slam her elbow onto the dagger that is still embedded in Kiara's thigh, drawing a spurt of blood from the wound.
Hissing at the pain, Kiara dropped her Zweihander and grabbed Mumei's arm, pinning her face to the floor with her shoulder being hyperextended.
"Iron may weaken me, but do you really think it can stop me? Now surrender before I dislocate your shou-ARRGH!"
Kiara was interrupted by something sharp piercing her right eye robbing her of half of her vision and causing her to let go and roll away from Mumei, whose other hand is above her head looking like it flicked something from that awkward position. Knowing that she is open to any attack from her blind side, she sprouted fiery wings from her back and flew, circling the area where she last caught a glimpse of her opponent with her remaining eye as she pulled the spike out of her eye and the dagger from her thigh, the wounds healing within seconds.
With her eyesight restored, she looked at the ground and saw two things. Her sword is about two hundred feet away from her. And that Mumei has already set up an entire salvo of missiles aimed at her.
"A Council member representing Civilization may not sound impressive. However, all Civilizations in the world have their great achievements, be it academic, martial, military or magic. Before you are all the achievements of all Civilizations from ages past and present." Mumei declared, in her arms was a drawn bow with a magically enhanced arrow ready to fire.
When she let the arrow fly, the missiles were also launched. Kiara, facing what is essentially overkill for anyone else simply smiled in confidence.
Elsewhere, in an enormous cathedral in another world, an imposing figure glared at a group of individuals from across a portal he made, the decapitated head of one of his followers crushed underneath his foot and a legion of his other followers behind him.
The group of individuals stared at him right back, eyes radiating utter defiance.
The same defiance that thousands of years ago drove him out of this world wounded and bleeding before his foes. He can still hear the cheers of victory as his fleet retreated.
Closing his portal, he can only silently seethe in the memory of that failure as a gravelly voice snapped him out of it.
"I told you, Steppenwolf will fail." The much smaller figure to his right said to him.
Such insolence will normally mean a death sentence, had he not been humbled by his previous defeat.
"YES, YES YOU DID." His own booming, gravelly voice replied.
"My master, now that the mother-boxes have been destroyed, how will you retrieve your great prize?" His follower continued, once again reminding him of another loss.
"ANTI-LIFE IS FOUND DESAAD AND WE WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO POSSESS IT." He responded, ignoring DeSaad's face changing to one of fear.
"READY THE ARMADA, WE WILL USE THE OLD WAYS."
Not bothering for a response, the being turned and walked out of the cathedral, his followers behind him.
Mumei knew that the salvo will not be enough to kill her. Yet she had hoped that it will be enough to incapacitate her and net the victory. When she saw the explosions themselves suddenly slow to a halt, then warp into a fiery tornado she knew that she had failed.
Before her an enormous and majestic bird emerged out of the fire tornado, seemingly shaped out of pure fire. The flapping of wings dissipated the blaze as she looked down on the Guardian of Civilization.
"Civilizations come and go; empires rise and fall. Yet I will remain. The temporary will never best the eternal." Kiara's voice, now a much lower pitch compared to her usual cheerful pitch, now seem to radiate divinity.
As the phoenix rear her head back, Mumei's hands glowed as a large and intricate magic circle appeared before her. Stretching her arms forward, the magically powered blizzard shot forth to meet the wave of plasma blasting out of the phoenix's beak.
As the ground craters from the force of the colliding beams, both combatants, determined to win, poured every drop of energy they have into their attacks. In the end it was Kiara's attack that won, her plasma wave evaporating the blizzard. Mumei managed to deflect the attack by changing the angle of her own attack, but it took all she had. Kiara returning to her human form and picking up her sword was the last thing she saw before darkness claimed her.
The office building was full of sighs of relief, unlike Kronii and Amelia's fight, there was genuine concern that Mumei may be seriously injured or even killed by accident. Kiara carried Mumei to a designated waiting dimension where Kronii, with a very smug grin on her face was currently pinching Amelia's cheek while she whimpers in pain. That ended when she ran to tend to the unconscious owl girl.
"Don't worry Kronii, she is not hurt." Kiara reassured, her own body seemingly spotless despite being stabbed in the thigh and eye.
"Thanks." Kronii replied as she laid Mumei's head on her lap while stroking her hair. Amelia, on the other hand was rubbing her cheek, finally free from the Time Warden's grasp.
"You win some and you lose some Ame~!" Kiara cooed as she rubs the pouting detective's head.
"GWAAAGH!" Gura yelled as her opponent, Hakos Baelz generated a blast of air to launch her across the battlefield, sending her crashing into some rock structures. Her shield of water which she generated in the nick of time cushioning the impact, saving her from fight ending damage.
'She's so strong!' Gura said to herself in frustration as she watches Baelz float in front of her, waiting for her to attack. After all, her opponent is the very concept of Chaos, that would mean that she ironically can control and give order to that which cannot be controlled and generate what should be spontaneous with near impunity. Not only that, but she is also the very anti-thesis of all that is in order.
Magic, which is energy channeled and eventually expressed in a controlled medium.
Environment and even life, both of which are coordinated piles of atomic and sub-atomic particles.
Anything that can end in chaos, she can induce and control it, anything that is in order, she can disrupt it. Gura learnt it the hard way within the first few minutes. From sudden explosions, to landslides, to hurricanes, she was only able to barely avoid them.
Her own attacks, using her trident and Atlantean magic would be able to inflict damage to Baelz. If she can even get it started without the blasted rat disrupting the flow of her magical energy before she can even fire the attack.
As a result, she was completely on the defensive from the very start, and till now she could not even land a single hit on Baelz.
'Not strong enough loser?'
Gura flinched as Gawr, her other personality, the version of her in the past where she was far more powerful and destructive spoke up in her mind.
'I do not need you right now!' She replied to her other self.
'Don't need me? Ha! Says the scrawny brat being thrown all over the place by a rat! You know for a fact that you are no match for her!'
'So what? This is not a fight to the death!'
'If you were okay with losing from the start, why bother to put in any effort in this fight? Why not just forfeit?'
'Training.'
'Training? If that's the case, what have you learnt besides that fact that you are getting your butt kicked?'
'Shut up!'
'Guess the truth really hurt you! Hahaha!'
'…'
"Hey! Gura! Do you want to forfeit!?" Baelz called from the air.
'What's it going to be? Do you want me to take over?'
'You better give the body back to me.'
'Suuuuure!'
Baelz was startled by a sudden burst of red energy, blasting away the debris around Gura. She watched as the shark girl start to change. Parts of her hair start to turn red, the blue parts of her shark hoodie also turned red and when she looked up at Baelz, her eyes were blood red.
'Her aura changed…' Baelz looked on at the shark girl, now with a menacing grin on her face.
Gawr pointed her trident at Baelz, her other hand seemingly preparing a magic attack.
"This again? Guess you really don't have anything new." Baelz said in boredom as her own eyes glowed, dissipating the magic before it can even take form. The boredom almost caused her to not notice the trident flying at her head and she quickly moved her head out of the way.
Gawr, knowing this will happen moved her fingers down, and the concentrated blast of water that propelled the trident changed course, successfully nailed the rat hard on her forehead, throwing her backwards into the trees.
'So that magic attack was a misdirection…' Baelz quickly rolled away from a stab, a downward swing before getting nailed in the face with the dirt and gravel that Gawr threw with her trident. The shark girl taking advantage of the opening to charge full force, intending to impale the blinded rat in the stomach. That plan went out the proverbial window when the ground beneath her feet suddenly gave way, sending her falling into the sinkhole.
'Darn it! I missed my chance!' Gawr fumed as she leapt back out. But by that time Baelz has already recovered, her playful expression from before now replaced with a serious expression.
"Almost had me there." Baelz said as her hands glowed.
By instinct Gawr sidestepped away from a blast of magma and hurled her trident at the rat, she dodged but the moment of distraction was enough for her to release her spell, another blast of water that launched herself at Baelz. Gawr crashed into her, sending them both several dozen miles into the nearest ocean.
"Guess what Bae, I have the advantage here!" Gawr said as she used her magic again to form a maelstrom powerful enough to dislodge and bring up all the debris that lay at the bottom. Within the swirling mess, Gawr darted around, hiding behind the debris while Baelz looked around, trying to pinpoint her location while being thrown around in the swirling waters.
A glimpse of something shiny was all she needed for her to kick upwards, deflecting the trident aimed at the head. But not enough for her to avoid the follow up shoulder charge that sent her crashing into the hull of a wrecked ship. Gawr pointed her trident at the ship and Baelz was able to barely get away from the multiple blasts of high pressure water jets that diced the ship. Gawr then grabbed Baelz by the throat and bought her to the centre of the maelstrom.
"So, feel like forfeiting now?" Gawr taunted.
"Not really." Baelz replied with a grin as her eyes glowed again before an enormous explosion distracted Gawr, she then kicked the shark girl away as a pillar of magma, large enough to swallow the maelstrom came from below. Both girls quickly got out of the area, Gawr propelling herself at full speed and Baelz riding a boulder that was launched by the blast.
Gawr, now having propelled herself on to the shore looked back, and saw Baelz on the air, her eyes still glowing, beside her was the very pillar of magma, seemingly obeying her command. Gawr was about to conjure an equally large pillar of water but Baelz quickly disrupted the flow of magic again.
'Alright, I had my fun. Back to you.' Gawr said to her other self.
'HEY! You can't just-oh no…' Gura, now in control of her body again looked at Baelz. Her anger at her past self bailing out and leaving her to deal with this mess momentarily forgotten when she took in the sight of the magma pillar.
Only then she suddenly found herself and Baelz in front of the other members of the EN branch.
"Huh?" Gura asked in confusion.
"Omega deemed the fight over and transported both of you into the waiting area." Amelia replied.
"Oh yeah! Gawr! How could you just ditch me!" Gura raged, looking at her own torso.
'Whaaat? I gave you your body back as promised.' Gawr replied nonchalantly from inside her mind.
'You-'
"Was that who it was? The red version of you." Baelz said in response, cutting Gura's internal argument short.
"Yes, she was my past self that became another personality. Also, you were trying to kill me were you?" Gura replied in an accusatory tone.
"Your other self got me really heated! And I KNOW she was also trying to kill me!" Baelz replied in a defensive tone.
"Fair enough, but I'm so gonna make a discord call during your next Outlast stream. See you there Bae~!" Gura said in response, enjoying the rat's red faced embarrassment.
The first known person to make contact with the Ancient Ones was a man named H.P Lovecraft. Unfortunately, his interactions with these primordial beings were something he took to the grave. However, one can conclude that the interaction, regardless of the details was something of a blessing in disguise as it inspired him to become one of the most well-known horror writers. Even now, the term 'Lovecraftian' was used to describe something whose appearance is so completely beyond human comprehension that it destroys the mind.
The second known person was a girl, though her actual name was not known. She was given the name Ninomae Ina'nis or Ina as called by her friends. The third known person, also a girl, was Tsukumo Sana. This time, there were more details about their interactions. Both of them gained incredible power and was given some kind of calling that they have been refusing. However, since they kept their power, it can be safely said that they will one day take up their calling.
In this current situation, they have a different goal, to deal with the entity that has been cursing them. Therefore, they agreed to pit their powers against each other for training in preparation for that day.
Right from the start Sana teleported both of them into deep space, the power of the Ancient Ones keeping them alive in the vacuum. As Ina conjures six large magic circles, six of the stars around them started to deform and funnel themselves across millions of miles into small spheres around Sana in a hexagonal formation.
When six enormous arms sprouted out, magic energy already built up and ready to fire, Sana released some of the plasma in a stream to meet the beams coming at her. The explosions were silent, but the force was enough to throw them both backwards. Ina recovered first and threw a hook at Sana's direction, the conjured fist, thirty feet across did the actual impact, launching Sana several thousand feet across the void. As soon as she recovered, Sana clapped her hands together and Ina who was chasing after her, from the corner of her eyes, she saw two small planets coming at her, intending to crush her between them. Spreading her arms wide as she continues to head towards Sana, the conjured hands both released a beam that bisected the planets, allowing them to pass over and under her as she got closer to Sana.
Stretching her arm forward, Ina fired more beams as her opponent who met them with her own plasma blasts. Both were at a stalemate until Ina concentrated, her latest beam curved around Sana's own beam. Sana managed to move her head away and fired two quick beams of her own, the second one hiding behind the first one perfectly. It was enough to bypass Ina's defenses and vaporize her left arm. Ina paid no attention to her already regenerating limb as the tentacles attached to her back came to life, magic circles forming on each suction cup and firing a barrage of beams as Sana who simply combined her six plasma spheres and fired a large beam to meet the barrage.
Seeing Sana's far more powerful attack, Ina dodged to the left before resuming her barrage, successfully catching Sana with one of the beams. With that opening, Ina pressed on the attack, pressing Sana into one of the unknown moons.
'This is not over!' Sana declared to herself as her own eyes glowed.
Ina's attempt to perform a finisher was interrupted by multiple blinding lights before her very body was propelled backwards by an unseen force. When she recovered, she saw multiple explosions in front of her.
'Supernovas?' Ina thought to herself, before realizing what Sana plans to do when the explosions start to funnel themselves into a single point at speeds that make light seem slow.
"Wait, isn't that too much? She induced supernovas in some of the largest stars and intend to blast Ina with all that energy!?" Baelz said in horror.
"Ina? That is a lot of magic circles you have in front of you… Are you going to meet that head on?" Kiara questioned in shock, as she watches Ina spread her tentacles out, her hands forming layers upon layers of magic circles in front of her.
What was once cheers in the office building is now replaced by worry and even fear as the rest of the Hololive talents watch both Ina and Sana build up their most powerful attack.
"Omega! This is getting out of hand!" IRyS pleaded to the overseer.
"I will prepare to bring them to the waiting area." Omega replied. However, the dimension starts to crack.
There was no sound when the two blasts met each other, there was no stalemate either. There was only energy so great that that the explosion affected the very dimension the two fought in.
'Shoot! I overdid it!'
'Oh no! I used too much power!'
Both Ina and Sana tried too late to stop their attacks, the dimension was shattered, and Omega quickly waved her arm, intending to transport everyone back to the normal reality. She did not expect the force of the blast to disrupt her concentration, and a beam to come out of nowhere right towards her head.
'What!?'
Dodging the beam, Omega attempts to repair and reinforce the dimension.
"sEe yOu iN ThE NeW WoRlD OmEgA."
Omega was stunned by the garbled voice that seem to echo in her head, and it was enough. The dimension was beyond repair and everyone in the dimension was enveloped in darkness.
As the Hololive talents scream in a panic. YAGOO only sighed in resignation for the second time that day.
'What misadventure will I go into again?'
And that is a wrap for the first chapter.
A crossover between Hololive and the DCEU was not something I expected myself to write.
Here are some of the directors, fan artists and fanfic writers I would like to credit
JDKloosterman for his Naruto and Justice League Unlimited crossover fic.
Mazumaro for the Ina vs HoloMyth animation, it does give me some inspiration to give what powers the EN talents should have.
Zikryzero for the HoloMyth vs HoloCouncil fanart as well as the premise of the EN curse.
Motoaki Tanigo and Cover for making Hololive and the talents within, both current and former for the Rabbit hole.
And last but not least, Zack Snyder and his fanbase for the 2021 Justice League movie. Hope the Snyderverse will go on.
See you in the next chapter!
