A/N: Written for Draco's Den A Slytherin Walks into a Pub Fic-A-Thon. My prompt was: Pansy Parkinson walks into a pub and meets Bruce Banner. Also written for Tropes and Fandoms - opposites attract and for Cast The Dice event - opposites attract.

PS - the muse has been very finicky and non-existant, so I'm sure this isn't my best work, but alas... it's *something* at least. xo

Not beta'd, so pardon any lingering mistakes.

Opposites Attract

Pansy looked at the pub before her. It was the one Hermione had recommended to her, but it looked incredibly run down and decrepit. "The Swindled Pig," she muttered, reading the sign. She wasn't sure why Hermione had sent her here but supposed there was only one way for her to find out.

Pushing open the door, she stepped inside. The room inside was full of people, and there was a warm, comfortable breeze as she closed the door behind her. Okay, she had assumed the inside would be just as dingy as the outside, but she was pleasantly surprised to see she was wrong.

Making her way to the bar, she took a seat. "Can I get a pint of whatever is on tap," she ordered when the bartender came over. She looked him over, smiling slightly. He was rather handsome… And had that nerdy look about him. He was definitely her type.

"Sure thing." He grabbed a glass and filled it with a dark amber liquid. Sliding it towards her, he looked her over carefully as he adjusted the glasses on his face. "You don't look like you're from around here," he commented.

"I'm not," she admitted. "But I… Well, my friend, Hermione, insisted I come to pay this place a visit."

His cheeks turned slightly red at her words. "Oh, you must be her."

She arched a brow at his words. "Um, what is that supposed to mean?"

"No, I um," he stumbled over his words. "Hermione mentioned that she had a pretty friend that she wanted me to meet."

Pansy's eyes widened. "Oh, I didn't realise…" She cleared her throat. "I'm sorry, Hermione was incredibly vague when she told me to visit this pub. I didn't realise this was an attempt to set us up."

"I think more of an opportunity for us to meet," the bartender said. "I'm sorry if I just made you uncomfortable."

"No, no," she assured him. "I was just... Taken aback." She looked him over. "So, was Hermione right?"

He looked at her in confusion. "About what?"

"Am I pretty?" she asked, giving him a teasing smile.

His blush deepened. "I, well, yes, you are rather beautiful, yes," he stumbled over his words.

"Sorry, I'm just giving you a hard time," Pansy said. "Couldn't resist teasing you since you seem like you get easily flushed. My name's Pansy." She handed him her hand.

He took it and shook it. "My name's Bruce. Welcome to my pub."

"You're the owner, too?"

"Mhmmm, came into some money after saving the world," he said with a shrug.

Pansy laughed. "Ahhh, so you're a goodie good, then?"

Bruce chuckled as he grinned."And lemme guess, you're a bad girl?"

Something in the way he said it sent chills up and down her spine. Biting her lip, she grinned. "Well, you know what they say, opposites attract and all that."

Shaking his head, Bruce grinned. "I'm going to have my hands full with you, aren't I?"

Pansy nodded, unable to resist the draw she felt towards Bruce. "But first, I better than our meddlesome matchmaker for setting us up."

"You know, this isn't the first time Hermione has done this," Bruce mused after a moment. "As soon as she started dating Thor, she made it her life's mission to see each and every one of us paired off."

Pansy laughed. "Well, once Hermione gets an idea in her mind, there's no deterring her. So, she'll be matchmaking until she's satisfied." Slipping out her mobile phone, Pansy sent a quick text to Hermione.

Thanks, she sent.

You're welcome. Hope it works out because I'll charge you for the next match I make, Hermione texted back.

Pansy scowled at her phone. "Well, we better make this work, or she'll be charging for future services."

Bruce laughed. "Well, let me treat you to dinner tomorrow night before we decide if we'll even need her services again," he teased.

Blushing, Pansy grinned. "Sounds good to me, Bruce." Lifting her drink up, she motioned it towards him in a salute. Drinking the beverage, she had to admit, Hermione knew her type, and Bruce was it.

She wasn't a terrible matchmaker after all.
