Part 6: Soulmate Quizzes
Welcome to chapter 6. Let's see what the Chimokuri, Andrews and Jamie are getting up to. This chapter is gonna be one of those moments where the kids all just chill and hang out, with a twist.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters from Lab Rats, Mighty Med, Lab Rats: Elite Force, or Johan and Julie from Waktu Rehat. I only own my Original Characters. With that being said, enjoy this chaotic story.
Day 2, Noon
An hour later, everyone else had returned from their cave tour…
"How on earth did Riker manage to SWALLOW a cave bug?" Rainey exclaimed in pure bafflement.
"Wait what?" Roman looked at his twin in pure concern. Misfortune always seemed to follow the younger twin wherever they went.
"I was yawning, and it flew into my mouth, it was disgusting." Riker recoils in disgust. "I will never complain about Rainey's cooking again!"
"It's true. I had to give him the Heimlich maneuver to spit it out." Ranger raised his hand.
"I caught it on camera." Jamie eagerly raised her camera.
"Can we print it out for this year's holiday cards?" Romulus suggested. The sight of Riker getting the Heimlich maneuver from their younger brother almost made the misery of Reese strangling him in bird form go away.
While the adults tend to Riker's (unfortunately hilarious) emotional wounds, the younger kids decided to sit and talk.
"So what nicknames should I give Bree?" Bob asked, apparently he decided to go to the Andrews siblings for relationship advice seeing the rest of his siblings are basically not interested or experienced.
The blond boy even had a notepad and pencil ready to jot down the wisdom.
"Sweetie." Jenny offered.
"Honey," Ranger suggested.
"Sugar!" Ricky said, Bob nodded as he kept writing down.
"Eggs" Spin decided to mess with his brother.
"Butter" Now it's Jamie's turn.
"Stir well." AJ was chuckling at this point.
"Pour in the pan!" Rainey finished, as all the younger kids burst into laughter.
"Wait a second…You are just giving me a pancake recipe." Bob realized and glared over.
On the other side of the RV, Roman thought of doing some knitting to pass the time. He was getting started on a baby blanket for January as a Christmas gift.
…and maybe a beanie hat for Tracy's 18th birthday. She recently couldn't stop fawning over this 'Jay' guy from the new Disney Movie. And apparently the fictional character was known for wearing a beanie hat.
But honestly, the Eldest Andrews sibling shouldn't have even counted 5 minutes alone to be peaceful.
Regina and Reese were bored. And I guarantee you this: a bored Andrews sibling is the worst of its kind.
"I'm bored." Regina grumbled out loud.
"Same." Reese nodded.
"Wanna commit first-degree manslaughter?" Regina joked.
"That is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard." Reese gasped gleefully.
Roman's jaw dropped when he saw his two sisters doing something.
"NO! REESE, PUT YOUR LASER FINGERS DOWN. REGGIE, PUT MOLES DOWN!" Roman yelped.
"I apologized for stealing your favorite nail polish!" Romulus frantically (and jokingly) apologized to his sisters.
Sure, they all made threats to each other but it's all harmless. But then again, even Romulus doesn't want to push it too far with his sisters' wrath.
"Wanna fill up these magazine soulmate quizzes instead?" Jenny showed them a teen magazine (yes, it's the same one from yesterday with the shirtless Roman and Riker pictures). 'Who is Your Super Soulmate?'
"Eww, I don't wanna read that one. Some of the bachelors in question are my brothers!" Regina visibly recoils at the magazine cover.
Sure, some of the other 'Super Soulmates' bachelor/ettes also included all the latest (maybe it's slightly outdated) teen superheroes like Skylar Storm (when her powers did briefly return last year), Experion (now gone rogue as a villain), Spark (whom Rory previously had a crush on), Crossbow (who used to babysit Jamie), Remix (Roger's current favorite musician), Spotlight (whom Reese went on a date with one time) and so on. But Reggie ain't taking her chances at accidentally getting her brothers as the result.
There's also the fact that their Grandpa Gao always mentioned that Riker looks just like him in his youth, and Regina took after their grandmother Aiko.
"You can switch it out for the Davenport-Dooley version." Jenny offered another magazine from Tracy's bag. 'Find Your Bionic Bae Today'
"Why do you even have that?" Regina mused. This road trip has revealed a lot of interesting information for all of them. Some may be more traumatizing than others (like Riker swallowing a bug).
"Adam gave it to me as a birthday gift." Tracy waved a hand dismissively.
She is slightly convinced Adam picked the magazine with the most flattering picture of Chase. That, and the magazine was free so that cuts down the spending cost.
"So who'd you get for your Bionic Bae?" Rainey asked.
"Haze-I mean Chase," She replied. "There's nothing wrong with the idea of dating your best friend. I'm a big sucker for the Friends to Lovers trope. Case point: Adam and Sakura."
She and her friends (sans Bree, because eww those are her brothers) did take one of those love quizzes as a joke. Sakura landed on Adam, but that one's a given. Julie was straight-up horrified when she got Leo as her 'bionic bae' much to Janelle's amusement.
"Which is totally ironic because you usually have a type for the Older Brothers." Jones snorted. Most of her previous crushes have always been slightly older and often the mature responsible big brotherly types. Case point: Roman. Or Julie's brother, Johan.
"Chase can be mature for his age." Tracy defended her friend. Besides, it seems clear enough that Adam and Sakura have a thing for one another.
"Eh, Chase feels like an old man sometimes." Bob shrugged.
"If I see a shirtless picture of my mentors in there, I will throw up." Spin shuddered.
"You don't exactly have to read them." Jamie frowned at her friend.
"I just wanna find out which is the most likely 'Bionic Bae' you'd get.' Spin taunted.
"Hhm I'd pick you." Jamie winked at him, causing the younger Bionic to stammer.
"Eh whatever. I say we fill them in. We could use a chuckle." Reese shrugged. "Or a gag, whichever causes the food to digest faster."

~ A Few Minutes Later ~

"Let's see, it says here my Bionic bae is…Chase." Rainey smiled, happy with her results. She's always been attracted to the smart types.
"Same." Reese nodded, quietly thinking, "I guess he's kinda cute."
"You know, I could introduce him to you if you'd like." Tracy offered, she doesn't mind setting Chase up with Reese. They're both smart and honestly, they'd look nice together.
"I got Adam. Eww why? Jocks are so not my type!" Regina threw her hands into the air.
"Hhm is this strictly because the only guy you're ever physically attracted to is Xiumin from EXO?" Reese teased her sister. Regina huffed in response.
"Who's your second option?" Rainey asked.
"Bree. I mean, sure I'm biromantic, but I prefer strong and tough girls." Regina looked at her freshly painted nails, "Like Spark or Crossbow or that Jordan girl Ror has a crush on-"
"Shh!" Rory's cheeks turned red at the mention of his latest crush.
"I'm just saying, if you're not gonna make a move, I just might pull a Reese and steal your girl." Regina teased her older brother.
"Stop turning my name into a verb." Reese scowled over.
"I got Leo." Ranger quietly chimed in. "Your bae is underlooked and underappreciated, but he's got a Heart of Gold and a good sense of humor."
"Aww, that's a very sweet description of Leo." Tracy nodded.
"Hhm Leo huh? He's a nice guy." Bob nodded.
"No he's not, he's a jerk." Spin huffed in distaste.
"He is quite handsome…" Ranger's face slowly turned red.
"Rangey's got a crush~" Rainey hummed out loud.
"Shush it, Rain!" Ranger whined, burying his face into the nearest throw pillow.
"So who'd you get for your love quiz, Jens?" Jamie looked over at Jenny.
"Huh, says here my Super Soulmate is Riker." Jenny looked up from the magazine results. "'Your soulmate is a charming guy with good humor and always finds a way to make you smile'. Hhm he's handsome I guess, but he's too old for me."
"Good humor? His jokes make my body temperature drop half the time." Reese's nose wrinkled at the description.
"The closest description to Riker that's our age right now is Bob." Spin motioned to his brother.
Jenny and Bob shared a glance before scooching away from each other, "EWWW!"
Tracy kept glancing at the magazine and then back at Roman (who was talking to his brothers). He did eventually notice her glances and paused knitting.
"Anything you'd like to share?" Riker grinned over.
"According to the magazine, my Super Soulmate is Roman." Tracy murmured, hiding her face from Roman (who seemed equally surprised and flustered).
'Your Super Soulmate is a stoic and quiet type, but he's a loyal family man and will go the extra mile just for you'
"Psh, even the magazine accurately described Ro!" Rainey giggled at the description.
It's almost as if the universe is pulling all the stops to set up the firstborns of the Chimokuri and Andrews family.
"How shocking." Riker finger-gunned at her.
A few seconds later, Tracy almost launched herself at him like a rabid gremlin but was held by her brothers. (thank goodness Bob has super strength!)
"Riker, I'm at my FREAKING limit. And you're making it very tempting to sic my 'Super Soulmate' on you." Roman covered a hand over his face and grumbled out loud.
"You literally just called her your soulmate." Riker only noticed that one particular remark.
"I can and will go Spike mode on you!" Tracy was so tired she was making verbal threats. "I've learned a lot of words from Sakura and Spike, and I know how to use them."
"KIDS, NO FIGHTING!" Rodissius shouted from outside the vehicle, and all the other children stopped the commotion.
"Tracy, we do NOT use that kind of language in this house." Doris scolded.
"But mom-" Tracy wanted to protest, before reluctantly letting it go, "Fine…"
"We're good parents, right?" Rodissius gave his best friend an exasperated sigh.
"Doris and I did the best we could with 2 turning 4 kids. I cannot say the same about your 13 kids." Frank replied with a cheeky grin.
"Spin and Bob are still adjusting to the adoption, but I think they're in good hands." Doris cast a glance at her youngest sons (who were chatting and laughing with the younger Andrews siblings, Jenny and Jamie).
"Yeah, I think Jamie's in good hands too." Bernice (the youngest among the group of parents) looked at her daughter.
"She just gave my son a noogie." Frank dryly motioned at Jamie fighting with Spin.
"Kiss my fist, Spinny!" Jamie cackled.
"No, YOU kiss my fist, Jae!" Spin hissed back.
"JUST KISS ALREADY!" Bob and Jenny smacked their hands over their heads.
"She's gotta learn how to battle somehow." Greg shrugged in response, feeling rather proud of his daughter-figure. He's been silently considering passing the torch down to Jamie if she shows interest in hero work.
Yes, he and Bernice have been friends forever (they were in middle school when they attended Rodissius' wedding).
Yes, he's in love with her and that's why he often makes excuses to go to Mighty Med even when he doesn't need treatment.
Yes, he loves and treats Jamie like a daughter because that Monster of a man was a coward who refused to step up.
Also yes, he accidentally signed Jamie's birth certificate (Jamie doesn't know it yet) so he's legally the father.
And no, he still hasn't told Bernice that he loves her even though they have a co-parenting agreement.
At this point, everyone has silently accepted that Greg is basically Jamie's father.
Riker was not blind.
Sure, he's not the most academically gifted one like some of his siblings were. But he is very street-smart and attuned with matters related to the heart.
And believe me, there is nothing 'platonic' going on between his older twin and their family friend. It was so obvious they were flirting back on the bus yesterday! And the way Roman has the softest look in his eyes when she's around him. He was even willing to stay put to check on Tracy and Bob when they were too scared to go up the hike. And Roman had been the most excited to go on the cave tour!
Everyone could see it. Or maybe he's just hoping that Uncle Frank or Aunt Doris won't notice it. They've always been quite protective of their kids when it comes to dating life.
The way Roman reacted when Tracy revealed that he is her type ('Super Soulmate')! C'mon, they're definitely gonna end up together.
Is it too early for Riker to start planning ahead with Rainey? She's always so eager to design new clothes. Maybe she could expand to wedding gowns and tuxedos in the future?
There are a LOT of references/callbacks to Canon Events (and my other Andrews siblings lore) in this chapter, so hope you enjoyed that. (or given you some chuckles if you're unfamiliar with my OCs)
Chapter Talk: -
(1.) So originally I was gonna end last chapter with the bit where the families returned from the cave tour, but decided it was better suited as this chapter's opening line (and it ruins the Rocy moment) If you're an Andrews Twin, one of them is bound to attract trouble/chaos (Riker for Roman, Romulus for Remus, Rainey for Ranger)
(2.) Yes: Roman knits! Canon (and most Fanon) Roman gives me 'Toxic Masculinity' vibes, but my version has him in touch with his feminine side despite his Manly exterior. Yes, he's making a baby blanket for his daughter. Also yes, he's knitting a beanie hat for his totally platonic friend who's crushing on a fictional character who looks suspiciously like him. My version of Andrews family say "screw gender norms"
(3.) Here comes the 'Celebrity Teen Magazines' equivalent! In 'Rise of the Secret Soldiers' the Davenport trio had magazines based on them. Safe to say the Superhuman world has a similar variant. I had to include Leo as part of the 'Bionic Bae' lineup because he's seriously underrated.
(4.) Some of the 'Bionic Bae' results are a nod to the Andrews siblings' eventual love life, like Chase/Reese in 'The Attack' (and some crossover characters from Mech-X4 and Zombies). While Jenny's Super Soulmate is a nod to her and Bob's eventual romance.
~ Rainey ends up with Harris (the Smart one)
~ Ranger falls for Ryan (the Charismatic Underdog)
~ Regina ends up catching Mark's attention (Platonic Soulmate) but ends in a Poly-relationship with Willa, Eliza and Aspen from Zombies.
(5.) In 'Pranks for Nothing', we were believed that Jamie was The Great Defender's daughter when Alan babysat her. While in Canon, they never interacted, I actually shipped Bernice/Greg (it manifested its way into 'The Mysteries of Auradon's Lost Princes' and my other fics). The short bit of Greg signing Jamie's birth certificate is based on 'Legally the Father' an Encanto AU fanfic by planetundersiege on A03.
Hope you've enjoyed reading this chapter. See you all in the next one (part 7 is one of my favorite scenes to write). Feel free to leave a comment down below and let me know your thoughts. Have a great day.
