Idea 58: Quirk Log 7
A bit of a different one because this time it was less about the quirks and more about what types of Izumis I wanted to write. I'll still add in quirks that I think could work for each but they're less detailed this time around.
Quirk Log 7
(Two-sided Impact)
Two faced punk:
-Was forced to go to Shiketsu to help shape up her attitude
-Acts coy/sweet at school, even does her looks differently, to get things over with
-Friends with Camie and Inasa (Who know her true nature)
-Camie x Izumi?
-Quirk related to punching? (Base her off the God Hand class from 7th Dragon III Code VFD)?
-Hits inflict a status that make following attacks stronger and have de-buff effects. Status wears off over a short period of time or when Izumi uses certain attacks that clear the status
"Don't mind, don't mind," "Watch out for Midori though, she's totally a Burikko," (Camie)
"My life sucks, fuck you," (Izumi)
Burikko (ぶりっ子, sometimes rendered Burriko in English) is a Japanese term for girls or women who act coy, or deliberately cute and/or innocent in a put on way.
I could not find a way to translate this but it's essentially someone who is two-faced.
Anyway, I wanted a Shiketsu Izumi and I've never done anything with Camie involved before so I was interested in doing something with her.

(Transient Flare)
A girl like fireworks:
-Bright, Beautiful, Memorable, but so short lived
-There one day and gone the next
-For the yuri collection?
-Izumi x ? (Maybe Moe? Loves festivals. Same age)
-Izumi continues coming and going (over the course of many years), Pair never really becomes official (for now?) but her partner continues being drawn to her each time
-Izumi never thinking of settling into a relationship (One sided feelings from partner?)
-Spans a 10 year time period? Lots of time skips?
-Quirk related to fireworks? Multicolored fire that she uses to emulate fireworks?
I've never done complete one sided feelings/longing but I thought there could be some merit in trying it at least once. Not sure, it was just something that has crossed my mind here and there.

(Hero)
Reluctant Hero?:
-Based off Dragon Quest? (DQ4 Heroine specifically?)
-Hero class (including skills and such)
-Involve leveling and equipment etc...(?)
-Quirk: Hero/Luminary
I have no clue how to implement any of this idea but Izumi running into the scene with a stick and pot lid is hilarious to me. Also DQ4 Heroine's hair is greenish and I love how poofy it is. Again though, levels and stats would be a bit difficult for me to track and keep interesting while also making a semblance of sense so this might just remain a fun idea.

(To Be) (As in 'To Be -insert-' as well as a play on Tobe meaning 'Fly')
Zero to hero (Sort of):
-Building off canon 'Izuku'
-Izumi moved from Aldera during 2nd year, Eventually goes to U.A gen ed by her own choice (applied not expecting to get in, debates not going but does)
-Story starts in 3rd year at U.A
-Izumi looks different at this point
-No quirk, late quirk, or other power system?
-Redefines 'hero' for herself but doesn't aim for pro hero (yet?)
-Somewhat timid at school but still sweet, has a more confident/brave front outside of school at her workplace (job she legit enjoys)
-Looks different at school (bangs hide her eyes because she has trouble with eye contact) as opposed to her job (smithing apprentice, makes kitchen knives, tied hair and has a headband/bandana)
-Very physically fit now unlike how she was in junior high (before moving away and partially because the hero thoughts are still in the back of her mind)
"Why are you making excuses for yourself?" (Pairing)
"How can you justify this then?" (Pairing) (Some kind of secret exercise Izumi does with heroics in mind but still not going for heroics)
"I can't," (Izumi)
I haven't done a lot with Izuku's canon personality. Only ever a few times here and there but with their own distinct touch so I was curious about trying it but further down the line into the 3rd year. Not sure on a pairing here (I naturally gravitate towards Itsuka) and I don't have much thought on a quirk. I briefly mused either some kind of late blooming quirk or a completely different power system like Haki from One Piece with a quirkless Izumi(everyone would have the potential to use it but only Izumi would have it and keeps it kind of on the low as she doesn't want to lose her 'quirk') but I'm still undecided. I guess she'd reflect Koby if I went that route as he and canon Izuku share many similarities. Then again I kind of want to save Haki as a quirk for a Garp like Izumi for a different fic altogether.

(Make Believe)
The 'Naive' Optimist:
-Very aware of the world but consciously chooses to believe in the wonder of living and love
-Many people find her naive and air headed and she's not bothered by it or harsh reject
-realistic response but never 'mean'
*All Might POV*
*Flashback*
"He needed help," the quirkless girl said.
Toshinori stared at the girl in disbelief. She was young but the way that she had said those words, stating them as simple fact with no hesitation, fear, or grand selflessness, left him slightly baffled. He couldn't tell if she was brave, reckless, naive, or some mix of all those things but it still stood that she had rushed head first into danger with little thought.
"That was still a very dangerous thing to do young lady," he reminded her firmly, hoping that she wouldn't so readily charge into these kinds of situations with little else than school supplies ever again, or at all for that matter, but the green haired girl smiled a little.
"Right?" she clearly agreed, seeming to have already understood what she had done wasn't something to repeat, and again Toshinori found himself searching for what to say.
He thought a moment more before a particular question crossed his mind. "What do you think a hero is?" he wondered but the girl didn't appear to be taken off guard.
"I think a hero..." the greenette began, taking a moment to choose her words before going on, "is a symbol." The words were spoken truthfully and they dug into Toshinori's memories however she wasn't finished. "But does it have to be big?" she wondered more to herself and with a smile that betrayed her previous image.
"Doesn't it get you down?" he questioned quietly, thinking of a time long before this one, but the girl shook her head.
"I'm unwanted," she admitted, her tone neutral but her eyes were unshaken nonetheless, yet she suddenly flashed a smile. "But I'm just a hopeless optimist," she revealed with perhaps the barest hint of pleased acceptance. "I can't do anything about it," she laughed momentarily. "It's who I am," she uttered softly and Toshinori let another question spill from his thoughts.
"Do you think you need a quirk to be a hero?" he posed to her and the girl immediately shook her head.
"I don't need one," she resolutely beamed. "Cause it doesn't stop me from making people happy."
Toshinori could only watch as she left.
*Flashback End*
It was a brief memory that he had forgotten about but one he was grateful to remember.
Toshinori was still getting used to being quirkless, being quirkless once more, but with both that and retiring from active heroics he felt as if he'd lost his purpose. He was trying his best to devote himself to teaching, both the normal classes and his successor Togata, but he was quite the novice and Togata already took well to One For All and had Nighteye. The former hero hadn't quite found a way to move forward but the little memory might have been just the thing he needed to start.
At the moment he had no class that needed teaching but he was still tasked with a very important job. Togata had saved a little girl named Eri recently and it had been decided that she would reside at U.A for numerous reasons. Eri had been with them for a couple weeks now but understandably she was still very closed off and timid with people who were not Togata. However, she had gotten more acquainted with Eraserhead, Nighteye, and himself so today he was going to looking after her while the others attended to their respective classes or work.
Although, even with Togata, Eri was still unsure and hesitant. Despite his successor's best efforts and high energy he was unable to get her to laugh or smile genuinely. They knew it wasn't going to be an easy or quick feat but it was disheartening to know that she was in such pain. Toshinori would have thought more deeply over the subject but he was taken from such things at the sound of childlike glee. Pure and geniune laughter came from the room that Eri was in and the retired hero peeked in carefully with wonder.
"Outta the way, outta the way!" another voice called while the horned little girl giggled loudly. "Eri-plane coming through!" they cheered joyously as Eri clung to their back with a wide grin.
Toshinori recognized her.
Midoriya Izumi, the quirkless girl he'd met over a year ago, was in the general education course. He had heard her name at the school in passing, both as a quirkless student as well as because she was a very sought after student for different sports clubs, but he hadn't put it together before now.
"I don't need one. Cause it doesn't stop me from making people happy."
Those were her words and here she was doing what no one else could, making a little girl happy. Toshinori retreated a bit, out of sight since he did not want to ruin Eri's fun, and eventually Midoriya had to be on her way. The greenette exchanged some hopeful words to the little girl and as Midoriya peeked around he came back into sight and gave her a quick bow while she just grinned and pointed him out to Eri. The student went off while Toshinori greeted Eri and she, wrapped in her excitement even now, began eagerly telling him about the green haired girl who had just left.
"Big sis is really fun!" Eri exclaimed, her eyes gleaming with the childish joy that they should. "I met her today but she's really nice! And, and-" she continued on while the blonde listened to her with a pleasant and thankful smile.
Eri recalled all the fun things that Midoriya had told or showed her, from tales of grand adventures to games full of imagination, and she appeared to have no sign of slowing down. Toshinori laughed along or asked questions while the child talked but eventually Eri reached the end of her time with the greenette. However, instead of receding directly back to her previous behavior, Eri gained a small but hopeful expression as she clutched something.
"She gave me a lucky charm and she pinky promised to play with me again," Eri explained, holding a little stuffed accessory meant to attach to a bag. "She even crossed her heart so she said that means she'll definitely do it!" the little girl nodded assuredly and Toshinori smiled both for the child and his thoughts of Midoriya.
"I'm sure she will," the former hero agreed and Eri stunned him as she beamed.
"Mmhm! Cause she's like a hero!"
I just wanted to write optimism and also do things on a small scale. Focusing on character interaction and how people grow through relationships and bonds is something I enjoy writing and I find characters who choose happiness while understanding the world around them to be really strong so I wanted to highlight that strength. Izumi would remain quirkless and wouldn't be a pro hero. She's on the sporty side though as a fun little addition and it might be fun if she was good at most sports and was the team manager for some sports club.

(Faith Is My Pillar)
Quirk: Odyssey
Just throwing this one in here because this was the original idea for 'The First Steps Upwards'
Originally, Izumi was supposed to be completely isolated inside of her own quirk. Her quirk, Odyssey, was supposed to be a pocket dimension in the form of a large bubble. Nothing too big in size so it could easily be hidden away but you could easily enter inside of it and become lost in the vastness of the dimension. Since even in 'TFSU' Izumi's monsters are from the Etrian Odyssey series, the pocket realm was meant to hold the many stratum from the games. Naturally Izumi could summon monsters inside of it and was, for all intents and purposes, basically a god there. She was supposed to have a more mutated design too (maybe similar to the forest folk in the EO series) and like 'TFSU' she was supposed to be cripplingly lonely and using her creations as false comfort.
This original idea allowed me to write different environments more easily and her potential pair, either Itsuka or Setsuna, was supposed to stumble into her quirk and get lost there for a long time, growing stronger and such and eventually leaving but without meeting Izumi yet. They were missing for at least a month, which felt like 2 months to them, and eventually made their way back with other characters and it was supposed to be focused on exploring Izumi's labyrinth.
I know I'm not even close to done with 'TFSU' but I'd love to do this idea eventually, sort of how I made Tiger's Bite and Tiger's Hunt, because I want to write an even more unique plot premise.
Longer than usual for these logs but I had a lot I wanted to put out there.
I'm working on a lot of other writing, both for existing fics and not yet posted ones, so I hope to be able to keep up my motivation by posting this and getting everyone's thoughts.
Anyways, feel free to leave me suggestions in the reviews!
