Prologue

Note: I've decided to rewrite this story, only focusing on the Disney versions. But it will still have a sneak peek of a future saga in Journey to the Past and Future.

(Theme song - Cinderella Main Title - Cinderella 1950))

*Two cats sat under a tree. One was a orange female cat with peach skin & green eyes, & long hair wearing a light purple dress decorated with flowers, & a pink apron (look up "Cinderella's Mother" by "whitewolfdreamer27" on "DeviantArt"), a brown hat, & black flats. The other was a male yellow cat with peach skin & blue eyes wearing a brown suit, white shirt, black vest, brown sun hat, & black shoes. The two of them were leaning over a basket. Inside the basket was a baby orange female cat with peach skin, & blue eyes wearing a white short sleeved dress with a white bonnet. She was playing peek-a-boo with her blanket*

Narrator: Once upon a time, there was a girl called Abigail and she saw the world not always as it was, but perhaps it could be, with just a little bit of magic.

*The female cat picked up Abigail & lifted her up high*

Laura: Oh, my darling.

Narrator: To her Mother and Father, she was a Princess. True, she had no title, nor crown, or castle, but she was the ruler of her own little kingdom.

*5 years later, Abigail was playing with her parents in a meadow (she wearing a magenta dress & a red bow in her hair (look up "Peach - Snow White (Child)" by "KatLime" on "DeviantArt")*

Laura: Abby, watch out for the bumble bee!

Narrator: Whose borders were the house and meadow on the forests edge, where her people had lived for generations. Abigail befriended all the birds of the air and the beasts field of the field. Including the Chao that lived around a nearby Lake of Rings. To Abigail, this was the whole world and it seemed to her that the world was a very fine place. Full of family and friends, animals and birds. All of whom were her very dear companions. And love, and goodness, and most of all, magic.

*4 years went by. Abigail was going to feed the chickens (her hair was now in a long braid & she was wearing a blue dress & brown boots (look up "Peach - Marnie #4" by "KatLime" on "DeviantArt"))*

Narrator: As she ruled, she learned to rule fairly and justly.

Abigail: Hello, there. What do you think your doing? Let the little ones have their share. We don't want to getting an upset stomach. *two chao began flying circles above her head. one was a white hero chao wearing a green scarf & the other was a blue neutral chao wearing a red bow tie* Hello Huck & Cheese, how is everyone at the lake today?

Laura: Do you still believe that they understand you?

Abigail: Don't they, Mommy?

Laura: Oh, yes. I believe that animals listen and speak to us of we only have the ear for it. That's how we learn to look after them.

Abigail: Who looks after us?

Laura: Fairy Godmothers, of course.

Abigail: And do you believe in them?

Laura: I believe in everything.

Abigail: Then I believe in everything, too!

*Just then, the sound of hoof beats was heard coming down the road*

Narrator: Her Father was a merchant, who went abroad and brought back tribute from all of Abigail's subject lands.

*The male cat was driving a horse drawn carriage. Two big wagons were behind him*

Robert: Abby! Where are my girls, my beautiful girls!? Where are my darlings!?

Narrator: Abigail missed him terribly when he was away. But she knew he would always return.

*Abigail ran to the front of the house to greet her Father*

Robert: There she is.

Abigail: Papa, welcome home! *she jumped into his arms & hugged him. Laura watched them from the front door. he sat her down on nearby the fountain's edge. one of his helpers placed something in his hand. he tried to hid it, but Abigail saw it* What's that?

Robert: Hmm, oh this. I found it hanging on a tree. I think there may be something inside.

*Abigail opened it & a paper butterfly came out*

Abigail:*gasps* It's so pretty.

Robert: In french, that is called a papillon.

Abigail: Papillon.

Robert: Très bien! Voulez vous danser avec moi, Mademoiselle?

Abigail: S'il vous plaît.

Robert: Merci beaucoup. *she stood on her Father's feet as they prepared to dance* Ouch! Oof! Your standing on my feet! Shall we?

*Together, they did a wild version of a waltz*

Abigail: Look, Mommy! I'm dancing!

*Robert then let go of her to go hug & kiss his wife. Abigail showed her present to one of the gardeners*

Abigail: Little papillon.

*That night, Laura was putting Abigail (wearing a white nightgown (look up "Peach - Marnie #1" by "KatLime" on "DeviantArt")) to sleep. Robert watched from the door*

Narrator: All was just as it should be. They knew themselves to be the most happy of families to live as they did and to love each other so.

*Laura singing*

Lavender's Blue

Dilly Dilly

Lavender's Green

When I am King

Dilly Dilly

You shall be Queen

Lavender's Green

Dilly Dilly

Lavender's Blue

You must love me

Dilly Dilly. . .

*Abigail & Laura singing*

For I love you

Narrator: But sorrow can come to any kingdom, no matter how happy . . .

*As Robert and Laura were walking down the hallway, Laura suddenly felt dizzy & fell to the floor, coughing*

Narrator: . . . And so it came to Abigail's home.

*A few days later, Abigail (back in her blue dress) was sitting outside her Mother's room, waiting for her Father to come out. The servants stood nearby. Then the door opened & her Father, along with the Doctor (a yellow duck), came out*

Dr. Quack: I'm so sorry . . .

Robert: Thank you, Doctor.

Dr. Quack: This must have been very difficult for you.

*Robert then turned to Abigail. He held out a hand to her*

Robert: Come.

*She got up, took her Father's hand, & together, they went to see Laura. She was lying in her bed (wearing a blue nightgown (look up "Peach - Rapunzel (Nightgown)" - by "KatLime" on "DeviantArt")) & looking very frail*

Laura: Abby, my darling, I want to tell a secret. A great secret that will see you through all the trials that life can offer. You must always remember this. Have courage and be kind. You have more kindness in your little finger than most people posses in their whole body. And it has power, more than you know. And magic.

Abigail: Magic?

Laura: Truly. Have courage and be kind, my darling. Will you promise me?

Abigail:*tears forming in her eyes* I promise.

*Behind them, Robert also had tears in his eyes*

Laura: Good. I must go very soon, my love. Please forgive me.

Abigail: Of course I forgive you.

*Abigail hugged her Mother & her Father hugged them both*

Robert: I love you. I love you, my darling.

Laura: I love you both.

*Laura then closed her eyes*

Narrator: A year passed, and pain turned to memory. In her heart, Abigail stayed the same. For she remembered her promise to her Mother. Have courage and be kind. Her Father, however, still felt she needed a Mother's care . . .

*From a second story window, a female teal hedgehog with peach skin, purple eyes, & dark purple hair wearing a red dress (look up "Stepmother of Cinderella" by "Feyalora" on "DeviantArt") was watching Abigail & her Father playing together in the garden. She was petting a brown male cat with whiskers that looked like a mustache & wearing blue pince nez glasses that was in her arms. On her right side was a female red, brown, & cream female fox with red hair & blue eyes wearing a dark yellow dress (look up "Peach - Anna (Toddler Doll)" by "KatLime" on "DeviantArt") (10 yrs old). On her left side was a yellow & white female fox with orange hair & teal eyes (look up "Sonic Undeground Redesign: Mindy LaTour" by "rinkunokoisuru" on DeviantArt) wearing a pink dress (look up "Peach - Marnie #3" by "KatLime" on "DeviantArt") (10 yrs old)*

Note: In my version, Mindy LaTour is a classmate of Abigail & Lacey's.

Narrator: . . . And so he married again, choosing for his second wife, a woman of good family with two daughters just Abigail's age. By name, Mindy and Fiona.

*6 months later, Abigail was kneeling in front of a grave, crying (she was wearing a black dress (look up "Peach - Cinderella (Funeral)" by "KatLime" on "DeviantArt"). Standing behind her were her Stepmother & Stepsisters (all wearing black dresses & veils). A smirk grew on the Stepmother's face as she watched her Stepdaughter shed tears*

Narrator: It was upon Robert's untimely death, however, that the Stepmother's true nature was revealed. Cold, cruel, and bitterly jealous of Abigail's charm and inner beauty, she was grimly determined to forward the interests of her own daughters. She immediately dismissed most the family servants (except the coachman, a maid, a gardener, & one of the cooks) and her two daughters took away Abigail's bedroom, her fine clothes, and made her do all the chores around the house. While they lived in the lap of luxury. She now slept on a hard straw bed in the attic. But on cold nights, she slept in front of the kitchen fireplace. And although the fire kept her warm, the ashes and cinders drifted across her, making her look dusty and dirty. Her Stepsisters made fun of her and gave her the nickname CinderAbby. But through it all, Abigail remained gentle and kind. For with each dawn, she found new hope that someday, her dreams of happiness would come true.
