"And the red ghost's soul shall make this warlock's body its eternal home!"
Vincent heard those last words of the spell being blurted out before immediately crashing to the floor of the dark cave, and soon then heard his friends calling out to him in concern.
"Vincent! Are you okay?" Daphne exclaimed.
"Can you hear us? What happened!?" Flim Flam cried.
They were all around him, he could see them, but their voices were so distant from him, and seemed to be growing more distant with every passing second.
He started coughing, loudly and horribly, and he couldn't seem to stop. He felt himself being slowly, and painfully pulled away from his own body, losing control of every inch of it.
His heart was racing, and his friends were fading away one by one, and he started screaming for them.
"Where are you? Where'd you all go? Help me, please! Don't leave me! No! No!"
His screams became louder, but as it did, it no longer sounded like his own screams, but it did come from a very familiar voice.
It was Asamad.
They both panicked at this realization. Vincent had no control over his body now, and his limbs were moving in a horrific, demonic way.
"Vincent!" Asamad was screaming over and over again.
Vincent couldn't answer, he couldn't do anything, not even breathe. His heart was beating even faster now, and he, or rather Asamad being pulled into his body, began to have a whooping cough.
Suddenly, he heard another voice as he laid there. It was Asamad's voice again, still calling out his name, but this time, it was coming from somewhere else.
"Vincent!? Vincent!"
The Asamad inside of his body was still screaming, but the Asamad coming from somewhere else began to drown out that one's voice.
"Vincent! Wake up!" it exclaimed.
The Asamad inside of his body suddenly stopped screaming.
"Listen to me! Wake up! Awaken now!" he commanded.
Vincent began to feel Asamad's hands grab onto him.
"WAKE UP!"
Vincent screamed and his eyes immediately snapped open as he sat up, his heart still racing and he was breathing heavily as he saw Asamad standing beside him, looking distraught and confused.
"Vincent! What happened? Tell me, why were you screaming? Was it a nightmare?" he asked.
Vincent took a moment to catch his breath, and looked at him as his heart rate began to go back to normal.
"Asamad, I just had the worst nightmare I've ever had in a while. It was about you…" he told him.
"What!?" the ghost looked at him in confusion again. "I thought you were done having nightmares about me. The last one was months ago."
"I thought so too. This one though, I should say, was about you and me. We were in a dark cave with the others and someone cast a spell on me to get possessed by you and the others were calling my name, and then they started to fade away. I lost control of my body and you were screaming as you were being pulled into my body. Oh, it was so painful and my heart was racing, I couldn't breathe, I couldn't move, I couldn't do anything…"
Vincent trailed off, no longer able to explain, he was so distraught, and watched as Asamad put his hands on top of his.
"Alright, alright, listen to me. It wasn't real, it was only a nightmare," he said in a low, affirming voice. "I am so sorry about this, however, you need to remember that you're safe, and so are the others. I am right here."
Vincent took a deep breath and looked up at him.
"I know, thank you. However, it felt so real." He then paused for a moment. "Wait… I have had very vivid dreams in the past that eventually happened in real life. Do you think this could be one of those?"
"No," Asamad replied. "You're just frightened because you had a nightmare, and I understand that completely. I promise you it won't happen in real life. I'll do anything to prevent that from happening." He smiled. "Now, I suggest that you go back to sleep, it's 3 A.M."
Vincent let out a quiet sigh and looked down in shame, crossing his arms.
"Was it really that terrible that you're feeling too scared to go back to sleep?" the ghost figured.
"Unfortunately, yes," he admitted. "I'm just worried. What if the nightmare continues-"
"It won't," Asamad interrupted. "If you want me to stay here and watch over you for the rest of the night, I can do that."
"Of course," Vincent nodded. "Please."
"Then I will," he also nodded. "Now, good night."
"Thank you again, Asamad. Good night."
He laid back down and fell back to sleep within a few moments, and Asamad watched over him as the rest of the night went on.
The next morning soon arrived, and everyone sat down together in the dining room for breakfast. Daphne was about to take another bite of her food when she couldn't help but notice that there was something going on with Vincent.
"Hey, are you okay? You're not eating," she said.
As soon as those words left her mouth, everyone, even Shaggy and Scooby, stopped eating and looked over at him.
Vincent paused, feeling embarrassed that everyone was staring at him.
"Oh yes, I'm fine," he lied. "I just had a rough night, that's all."
He gave them a fake smile and took a bite out of his food.
Daphne looked over at Asamad now.
"Can I speak with you for a moment?" she whispered.
He nodded, and they both got up and stood in the doorway.
"What happened to Vincent last night?" she asked.
"He had a nightmare," he told her. "A really terrible one. It was about him and me."
She looked at him in confusion.
"I don't understand…"
"Allow me to explain," Asamad began. "In the nightmare, someone cast a spell on him to become possessed by me, and while he was being possessed, you and the others faded away. He lost control of his body, and it was painful for him. He couldn't move or do anything, and he was screaming until after I woke him up. I helped him calm down so that he would feel safe enough to go back to sleep, and I watched over him the rest of the night."
"Gosh, that's awful!" Daphne gasped. "So that's why he was the last one who came downstairs this morning and why he's not eating." She then sighed. "I need to do something to help him."
"Just make him feel safe and comfortable today, and do not ask him about the nightmare," he suggested. "He can't get his mind off of it. You know how he's had dreams in the past that eventually did happen? Well, he's worried that this might also happen."
"But it won't," she insisted. "We'll make sure of that."
"That's what I told him. However, we both know how worried Vincent can get about nightmares involving me and the rest of you…"
Daphne nodded and looked back at Vincent, watching him still trying to act like nothing happened.
"Yeah, we do," she replied.
"He'll be fine by tomorrow though, I'm sure of it," he assured her.
She nodded again, and they both went back to the table, rejoining the others until breakfast was over.
